I figured I would start one of these threads since I have yet to see one. So for everyone that actively switches ROMs, do you prefer AOSP or Touchwiz?

Bean's scratches both itches for me! :good:
I've flashed several recently, I'm currently on AOKP MR1 but I'm going to switch to Beans once build 11 comes out. I found AOKP/AOSP to be missing features, mainly in the core apps like e-mail and sms. Battery life also seems to be much worse in AOKP/AOSP, and I find there to be a few bugs, some major some minor.

There's going to be bugs in every ROM.
I found eclipse 1.4, which is built on touchwiz, to have the best aosp feel to me. It cures that aosp itch for anyone. I wish tweaked VZW was aosp themed.

I'm currently on ICScrewed 2.1 right now but i'm considering upgrading my phone to
ICS roms. However, there are two major choices right now: CM9 and AOSP
what is the difference between these two setup?
What exactly is the advantage of CM9 over AOSP or the other way around?
Are there any bugs that exist in these Roms?
just wanna clarify things a little bit

Look in ported development forum and check the respective Roms thread. Then READ them both so YOU can make a better decision of whats right for YOU.
CM9 is an AOSP ROM

Just flash them both and find out for yourself.

Well right now IMO the aokp and current cm9 builds are very similar since cm9 doesn't have a lot of the tweaks

don't do it I wasted my whole Saturday morning on those ics things in ported section
I recommend the AOKP build by Fenny in Ported Development. I love the rom and have been getting great battery life. I mostly use my phone for email, text and social networking and have no complaints nor have found any bugs.
I've tried them both. CM9 is easier, AOKP has more stuff. Best to look at the threads if you want to know how it matters for what you care about.
They are both very similar and you will be fine with either.
why has this q been in the general all day? red your starting to slack a bit haha im just kidding. its saturday woo hoo!
Things aren't quite ready yet... give it another day or two, the floodgates will open soon.
I've been on fennys aokp all day and I'm loving it. Just video recorder doesn't work and right now I'm just trying to figure out how to get pics to save to external memory . But its super fast and the features are awesome especially the ocing and uving built in. I've been playing with face unlock it fun. Camera is better and faster than gb.
Haven't tried cm9

I personal like AOKP. and I am a big CM fan. I've used CM9(altough I have tried CM9 since the 3/14/12 nightly) and AOKP sims alot nicer.
D/Ling the lastest CM9 now give it a try
Hands down no questions asked I gave been up and down both rims and aokp is better a lot more features and settings

I was thinking about putting one of these on my SGS2.
Can anyone suggest either of these over the other? I know I like AOKP but what improvements has Foxhound made over AOKP?
Thanks.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Currently AOKP is my daily driver and I've found it to be wonderful. Haven't actually installed Foxhound yet but it is based off of Cyanogenmod and AOKP so it's bound to be good. As I understand it Foxhound's main feature is the customization options. There are several different pre-loaded themes, which skin the rest of the ROM.
Hope that helped!
Vs threads are no bueno around here

Everyone said the rule for me, but i will be nice and explain a bit more.
Really, there can never be one perfect rom for anyone. Only you can decide if you like a certain theme, and some people value certain features over others. What YOU need to do, is find out what you need the most, and then take a look at some of the ROMS out there, and find the one the fits the best.
Frankly, there are no really bad roms on this board; just some that may not be what you need.
Hi. first of all I just want to say that I'm a big admirer of XDA forums I've been following the forums for quite some time on various phones but I'm not very active in posts / replies due to my inexperience.
I'm sick of AT&T taking forever to give us ICS and I'm not willing to wait just to get a whole bunch of bloatware and the same old touchwiz. I've come across two good roms: Onlyone and Objection. I'm kind of leaning towards Objection because It's giving me two UI options: Android 4 and the new Touchwiz, but from the replies I got the impression that Onlyone is more stable. Are there any ROMS that use the official ICS code released by Samsung or not yet?
Here are my main concerns: battery life, ROM stability and speed, and of course the good additions like updated touchwiz, S-voice, etc.
Try them all and see which you like best. Nobody can tell you which is best, because that is purely opinion based. There aren't that many, so just learn how to use titanium backup so switching between roms doesn't take too long.

If you prefer the unmodified, pure Android experience that you would get on a Nexus device, you can come close with a CyanogenMod based ROM. These are my personal favorites as they are practically bloat-free and don't have any carrier/manufacturer customizations. The downside on the Note is that there is no S-Note/S-Memo. Hopefully the CM devs will get these apps to work eventually, but the S-Pen does work.
If you like the TouchWiz interface then try one of the TW/ICS leak based ROMs such as OnlyOne. That was the first ICS ROM I tried and I liked it, but overall I prefer CM9.
you can try those ROMs from this guy - flappjaxxx. They are the unofficial CM9 ROM and UCLE2 stock-base ROM. They are really solid, stable, daily drivers and supported well by the awesome developer. These roms get very good comments from XDA-users.
I've tried every single rom.
for CM9- I'd use Mesosphere the rest were pretty unstable.
For Ucle2 + S-pen functionality i'd use FJ's Build. Onlyone was laggy for me.

This is like asking what beer should I drink or who is the best Golden Girl. Everyone is going to have different answers and you really need to try some and find your favorite.
That being said I am a big fan of flappjaxxx's UCLE2 rom.
My recommendation is to go with the Unofficial build of CM9 by h0tw1r3.
Nothing beats the cleanliness of AOSP, and the added features that Cyanogen throws in are well worth it.
I have been running it since he released the first build and it is extremely stable. And thanks to CalcProgrammer1, it was just updated and we may even see nightly builds.

I would imagine that CleanROM 4.0 is more stable, considering many use CleanROM as there daily driver. Last night I flashed CleanROM 4.0, and haven't had any problems so far. I'm using Verizon Note 2.

If you want more of an AOSP look to your Note 2, then Beans is the way to go -- he themes his ROM's to give you that AOSP look.
CleanROM is not themed, but very light weight in terms of removed bloatware and other tweaks that the dev has done to the ROM.
I prefer CleanROM since I'm not really a big fan of the AOSP look/feel (I know.. I'm in the minority here).
But as others have said, you can't go wrong with either ROM, they are fantastic. I'm just hoping some of the themer's out there come to this phone as they did on the S3.

I don't know. I am the only member with a Note 2 and the abuse seen from some people lately has put off other members. The sense of entitlement from the Android community chases off more talent than anything else.
So, I won't say no, but will leave it as a fading hope, that is still in 'maybe' status but could change to a resounding 'NO'.

I've seen a lot of devs stop releasing stuff because of all the bs. I wish most devs would just post a "this is my rom, take it or leave it but don't B!TCH!" and just release it as they built it for themselves and let others create mods instead of trying to cater to everyone.
Can we please keep on topic for a change.

I loved your roms on the Alltel HTC Touch (Vogue). You gave us a lot of things to play with on that phone.
(This is coming from an addicted flasher...and I do and have donated to everyone of these Einstein's of ROM's so there is no allegiance to any of these that makes or phone super-fantastic)
Howdy is to those who have taken the rooted option to maximize their G4 Phone. I really do think on the development page some folks think this is a 24 hour a day brain surgery...I mean 10s of thousands of views on every ROM, myself included, to see what the latest and greatest that may be just released, and then, there I go flashing again! Crap.. I know I'm not alone. I wish I could stop!!!
I've tired them all, as of now Beans is my choice. In fact, there is so little a difference on any of these Rom's from the hard working developers that I think there is a "one up man ship" for the latest and greatest. I just want to open a discussion, and also an opinion of these particular four and keep this in the General.tread as not to make it a pissing contest. Again this is to just get feedback on just what you all have liked or disliked about each.
For me Beans finally got rid of the "custom/Padlock" on boot and also I was able to install 3minit settings. That's a big plus.(for G3 flashers as it's like Kinda Crap Mods which made my device rock with my S3). My battery life is exceptional but that probably has to do with our pretty incredible G4.
Again this is just a discussion and maybe we can learn something from each other.
I like cleanrom simply because I used and loved it on my s3, and I trust that the same attention to detail and dedication is going to be brought to this phone. With that said, I am not a flashaholic, and am generally happy with anything that isn't full of bloat.

I flashed hyper, clean and beans and I enjoy beans the most. although I have a few issues, mainly my battery disappeared the other day and after many reboots still hasn't come back lol..and air view just stops working out of nowhere...its the smoothest rom of them all I think. hyperdrive was fast but the dropdown bar lagged really bad. beans dropdown bar is very quick and smooth, just like it was on his s3 roms.

I've tried everything but beans (I meant to try it last night but got busy) and clean rom has been the best for me.
Every other seems to have one thing or another that is not quite perfect or something that just doesn't work right.
With clean everything just works, it's pretty fast and the battery seems good.
This was the same experience I had on my rezound with cleanrom vs. everyone else.
With that in mind, I really have to try beans. Except for a couple of things, it's getting rave reviews and his reputation appears to be terrific.
I'll update my post after checking it out.
I went Slim at first... Could not get exchange or GPS to work.
Im running hyper and havent changed from it for a few days now its stable, GPS and Exchange email work.. which is what i need.
CleanROM Slim is my daily right now for the past week. . Been perfect, fast, smooth and great battery life.. Haven't seen any issues yet. I'm currently at 2+ days standby and 3+ hours screen time and 19% battery left. Taking screenshots as I get closer to 0% for the battery life thread.
