note- i do not take credit of making the toolkit
first download the gt-s7560m root toolkit - http://bit.ly/13K9Ute
1. Copy “CWM-Superuser-3.1.3” to your sd card.
2. Take the back cover off of your phone.
3. Place your phone in download mode by turning it off and pressing “Power + Home + vol down” briefly for a second. Your phone should boot to a menu asking you to choose. Press “vol up” button to choose recovery mode,
4. Start odin you should see the box with the com port yellow showing it found your phone
5. Make sure only the following 3 boxes are check marked “f. Reset time” “Auto reboot” and “PDA” Load the recovery.tar file in the PDA section.
6. Hit start, when odin finishes your phone will vibrate. When your phone starts to vibrates pull the battery!
7. Now you can put your phone back together. I could not figure out how to enter recovery mode using the buttons so I did it using adb “adb reboot recovery”
8. You should now be in recovery mode. Use the hardware buttons to navigate vol up and down to scroll. Home button to select and power button to go back.
9. Select install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card. Choose “CWM-Superuser-3.1.3.zip”
Once it’s done hit the power to go back and select reboot phone. You should have full root and custom recovery installed.

Thanks for the help

[Q] Help with Rooting Stock Gingerbread - its half-rooted

Alright, so I'm just trying to root the stock rom of Gingerbread 2.3.5 on this phone,
I read the howto's and one of my biggest questions is - am I going to have to use Odin each time I want to enter cwm? because at this point the only way I can enter Cwm recovery is through flashing the cwm_recovery_all.tar through Odin but it only works once or twice.
The normal way from the phone powered off is to (use the three finger method) :: hold volume up and down an the power button,,, and keep holding till there Samsung comes up then flashes black screen,,, then release power button while continuing to hold volume up and down till it enters recovery mode
...
Though most all custom ROMs have the option when powering off the phone with a long press,, "reboot" : and chose "recovery"
.

Yes that's the exact guide, I'm using a Win XP VM and using the ODIN 1.84 - and I have everything installed, the custom recovery just doesn't like to stay on..
. Unplug your phone and click RESET in Odin. Repeat Step 5 to get the phone back into download mode and recognized by Odin. Using the PDA button, navigate to the "stock_kernel.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier, select it, and press START. You'll again be notified in Odin once this process has completed (succeeded 1 / failed 0).
9. Unplug your phone and re-insert the battery.
10. Press and hold BOTH volume buttons. While holding them, press the power button. Hold all three simultaneously until you see "SAMSUNG" appear TWICE. This will boot your phone into CWM 2.5 red recovery. If your phone boots up normally here and not into recovery, just wait for it to boot up and then power it down and try again. It may take a couple tries for you to get it right.
11. Using the volume rocker, navigate down to "Install zip from sdcard." Highlight it and press the power button to select.
12. Navigate to "choose zip from sdcard" and select with the power button.
13. Navigate to the "su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file that you downloaded earlier and select it. Scroll to "Yes," and use power button to select.
14. When you're advised of completion, press the MENU softkey to go back to the previous CWM Recovery screen, then highlight and select "reboot system now."

I did this, and made sure it installed, I have superuser installed and working and I can reset it to where the Samsung will appear twice, but when I do it, and it appears twice, it never goes into CWM recovery.. always stock...
You need a custom kernel for cwm to stick. You should be able to boot into cwm after the initial flash (Odin with battery out then 3 finger to boot), but it won't stick without a custom kernel.

[Q] Help Samsung fascinate stuck in download mode

Hi So I am stuck in download mode when I tried to root my Fascinate with odin today it got a fail 1 success 0. I have tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds and a battery pull to no avail. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for responding but I have not rooted yet the problem occurred when I was trying to root.
are you following the [GUIDE] from droidstyle?? Section 6
Section 6: How to root stock froyo or gingerbread(This is not needed if your flashing a custom rom)
Downloads these files to PC,
Samsung drivers-
Odin (computer program)-
CWMALL 2.5 (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it)-
"su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file (place this file on the root of your sdcard...not within any folders)-
Modified stock Froyo kernel (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it). This file is only necessary if you're rooting Froyo. It's not necessary for Gingerbread-
Instructions:
1. Install Samsung drivers on your computer.
2. Open Odin on your computer. (You may need to disable antivirus programs on your computer and/or phone for this to work properly.)
3. Power off your phone and remove the battery.
4. Plug the stock USB cord that came with your phone into a powered USB port on your computer (usually on the back of the computer).
5. Press and hold the "volume down" button on your phone, and continue to hold it while plugging the USB cord into your phone. This will put your phone into download mode. You'll see a large yellow triangle on the screen of your phone. (Let go of the volume button at this point.) You will also see one of the small boxes in Odin turn yellow, as well as "Added" appearing in the message box.
6. Click the PDA button in Odin (NOT the PHONE button) and navigate to the "CWM2.5_Voodoo.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier. This file does not include a voodoo kernel and will not perform the voodoo lagfix conversion. It's only named as such to note that it is compatible with voodoo kernels.(make sure auto reboot is unchecked, although it should be by default)
7. Click START. When this process has finished, you'll be notified in Odin (succeeded 1 / failed 0) and your phone's screen will go blank.
*** Step 8 is only for rooting Froyo. If you're rooting Gingerbread, skip Step 8 and proceed to Step 9. ***
14. When you're advised of completion, press the MENU softkey to go back to the previous CWM Recovery screen, then highlight and select "reboot system now."

Now temporary cwm which can do any cwm task but u have to load it everytime.

8. This has to be done every time you want to load cwm recovery.
Now i haven't tested beyond that but i found a youtube link for flashing stock rom via odin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ChtmNtpk3c
but this is in spanish so i translated in english here..
You must install Samsung KIES to ensure that your PC detects your phone.
After downloading install Odin
1 - Restart the phone in Download Mode ( Vol down , Home, Power Simultaneously ) .
press volume up to continue ( or vol down to leave but it can damage... )
2- Start Odin
3 - select files and press Start
Watch Out !!! Never unplug your phone before restarting
After 5-10 minutes your phone will reboot to your new ROM
stock rom download below:

Thank you very much! Although my SCH-i589 is currently hard brick, I think it will be very useful! -- Greetings from new members after 8 years
