Hi, I recently brought the Sony live with Walkman the first thing noticed the screen if we closely observe the screen we can see a little dots looks a grid on the screen is it outdated screen or whats going in there and while im in call speaking someone else i can hear come kind glitch and some times it goes away but over all performance is so good
Coming to battery life what i observed is when im on WiFi the battery percentage dramatically drops like 1% per 4 mins (browsing) no multitasking
is this normal WiFi off i can get 2 days of single charge  WiFi On 1 day max :good: and my phone heats upto 40c on heavy use like playing temple run 2 and all
i want you suggestions and tips to make my phone better im on Android 2.3.4 stock with firmware 0.62
Any upcoming news for ICS 0.587 firmware update, I recently checked that Tipo got update on 4.0.4 firmware so can i hope update to my phone W19i
waiting for you replays guys
About the dotz. Don't worry every fone has it. (dammit I forgot its name).
Battery life, since urs is new, u have good battery life, u know two day is like amazing. Within some time,it will clog, up and u'll get a max one day. (and that's when u start searching for rooting, unlocking and custom fw's )
We already have. 587. :banghead:
yeah the dots are barely visible but its ok than what about 0.587 firmware can we get any update to it

Connect your phone to PC Companion and update to ICS
Our phone received official ICS update by Sony 9 months ago...

about dots its clearly seen especially under sunlight or strong light i think that is because of screen type "TFT"
i was with my friend he has xperia mini his phone didnt have this dots i think that is because mini's screen is "LED"
about battery drainage i had higher drainage on GB so if you try upgrading you will observe the deference not the best but better than GB
ok, can we except update for ICS because recently sony tipo got update for 4.0.4 im hoping they release to my phone too

Hi guys,
Today i have got a new firmware for my X10 mini.
it is 1.1.A.0.8
Lets hope it fixes the battery issue......
Just run PC companion and let it update.
Took very less time
BTW, will installing Helix launcher increase battery life?

battery backup ?????
what about battery performance? is it better?
It seems better on mine, but that's obviously not a scientific test, just a "feeling"
6 hours since unplugged, including half an hour browsing with wifi, and an hour of music playing, the rest of the time the screen off, but checking email every hour over 3g, and the battery is at 78%
^^I kept it idle for 11hrs and battery went down to 89%..
That was over night and it was at 98% earlier.......
Used it alot that day(2-3Hrs music + 1hr video + 15 min calls) and by n8 at 8 it was at 33%......
I felt it ok..
No update available for my region. :S
Ok.
Now i found out one more thing.....
Never let the battery run down completely....
If you do so then your battery life decreases.
Also don't frequently switch off and on the handset.
DO so only once a week or so

i tried PC Companion Software update but response was: "you have latest software" I wanted to go on updating anyway via the Repair option but got scared - so im still in stock v1.6. anybody tried forcing update using repair . . .
Got an OTA update available message on handset. PC Companion doest report any updates Currently charging the phone over 60% once done, will do OTA update and would revert back with details
Build update, not Android update

The update is not an update to Android 2.1, sp you will still have version 1.6 of Android. The update to android 2.1 is now announced in Q3.
The update here is an new build, 1.1.A.0.8. I got my yesterday (Norway).
I updated this "by the air". No problems
Apart from the name (1.6 donut) your x10 mini already has most (if not all) of the features from eclair.
Unless it includes some type of support for Adobe Flash (which is unlikely given the hardware) I won't even bother with 2.1.
How hard is it to put flash lite 4 on a friggin phone.
Hello.
My girlfriend recently got a Sony Xperia U.
There are a few crucial problems.
First of all, the speed whilst being on Wi-Fi is ridiculeously slow. Did a comparison speedtest with my Desire HD, next to each other side by side, and my HTC got (literally) 10 x faster download speed than the Xperia U. For some strange reason though, the upload speeds were comparable.
Anyways, the slow download speed (reached only maximum about 114kbps) results in poor web browsing, facebooking etc so it's really annoying.
Another problem is that the network signal of the Xperia U is very low to sometimes non-existant.
The phone has the stock rom and is not rooted. So it's running on version 6.0.B.3.184.
Who can help me ? Or do I need to return the phone in the shop right away ?
Do software repair using PC Companion or Sony Update Service (SUS)
if that doesnt help give it to service senter.
After trying out a few methods, it seems that going to Menu - Xperia - Download internet & MMS settings seems to have solved the problem, download speeds are now over 20mbit with the speedtest whereas it didn't even reach half a mbit before.
Will report later after some longer time of testing to see if the problem is permanently fixed.
Had the same issue when brought my wife's brand new U from the store two days ago, extremely slow WiFi compared to my SGS. Reflashed the 184 firmware using SEUS this morning and since then it appears to be working just fine. Fingers crossed still, though...
Just read on this forum that the ST25a version of the U may be getting the ICS update in the coming days, so chances are our version will follow shortly. So, if reflashing the current GB doesn't help I'd still suggest to wait and give the ICS a try before considering the service shop.

How can I know if it is a ST25a version ? Anyways the problem sometimes comes back that download speed @ Wi-Fi is very slow.. like it totally blocks/lags (or goes ridiculeously slow) and then peaks again @ max values..
Is there any source for the ICS update of this phone ?
The ST25a the American version whereas the “i" refers to international, I believe. In any case the ICS update has not been out for either of these two yet afaik. Concerning the Wi-Fi issue I really have no idea what's causing it and/or how to actually fix it completely, I haven't been able to replicate it as if it occurs then it does it randomly and I suppose rather rarely now (I didn't receive any complaints from my wife during the past days).

Too bad there is no real clue for this wifi problem.. thanks for your feedback anyways.
Trying this application now
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wifiboostereasyconnect&hl=nl
Will report later.
Not working -_-
Thanks for the update! I guess the best option for us now is to wait a few days until the ICS update is made available (hopefully) and then if flashing that doesn't help we'll really be left with the one last option of claiming our devices with the service shop...

Will test this now, thanks for the tip.
So far so good, made my other half happy lol.. Although I don't understand such workarounds are needed to have stable Wi-Fi.. Glad it can be solved like that though, hope the ICS update (if it comes..) will solve these kind of bugs (and I didn't even start ranting about PC Companion bugging ****loads, sometimes not finding the storage, having to remove app data @ mtpapp etc etc..).
Reminds me again why I got myself a Nexus.. Xperia, sense, touchwiz, it will simply never work flawless.
Regardless of all this though for 200 euro/dollars this is a solid-feeling phone with decent hardware specs, front face camera and actually the interface is very smooth. Can't have it all I guess.
Use v6 SuperCharger, & 3 G turbo charger, it will. VERY VERY fastest for u (our XU), I installed v6 supercharger RC8.1 LASTEST & 3G TURBO & KISSASS KERNELIZED Tweaks Scripts.
They can do for ur phone fastest.
wifi, ram, scroll smooth,3G,etc...
(now I will answer my exams at 17.9.2012) I will link for u how to do.
Now u use google search how to do with Upper Name Scripts. O.k

On another router the Wifi is great.. Kinda ridiculeous workaround but at least it works, well a least the last few hours we tested.
She been on facebook all the time lol and no lags or drops so far.
Can confirm now that the problem is 100% solved by having connected to another wireless network (stealing unprotected wifi from the neighbour lol ).
No idea why on our own wifi here at home her XU is having big problems with wifi whereas with my own phone it never ever has any problem..

I'm not sure if your solution(stealing the wifi from neighbour) is valid for every person who can read this.
I have another solution, in your router wifi settings you probably have mixed networks enabled, like g and n standard. So, try to switch to
the "g only".
I'm quite sure it will help, in one of prev posts there was autosync disabling , this was temporary solution for me, I also re installed the soft,
But as far as I'm testing , the solution with router is solid.

But I hardly get 6-7 hours from my Xperia S. Today, I was at work, I kept checking FB, RSS, twitter every 2-3 hours for 10-15 minutes. Other times it is on standby, screen off and not used.
I have Viber running, weather widget, background syncing, emails checked every hour or two but no FB autosync and **** like that.
After 5-7 hours I am down at 20+% and hardly used it. Is this like that??????
Right after unboxing, I did the OTA ICS update. Should I do a clean FlashTool flash instead?

I agree. Sony gave my carrier (Vodafone Au) an outdated version of the ICS update. Vodafone then took forever to approve it. My ICS update has the wakelock issue and battery life has noticeably diminished. The launcher crashes now and then. It's still laggy to move from home screens. I mean how hard is it to make a decent ICS update given how late it was rolled out. And I find it's funny that in the ICS update thread A LOT OF users claimed that the early versions of ICS were buggy, and yet now when others complain about them they're branded trolls. Grow up for f's sake. If you dont have anything nice to say or help people just dont say it and keep being a fan boy.
Hi guys,
I just bought xperia mini, it has official firmware GB .62.
I want to stay at stock, so people with experience of stock GB and Stock ICS, kindly advice me if i should stay at GB or should i upgrade to ICS, as GB has most of the main features as well, like hotspot, apps2sd and others which are useful, as some of people expressed, ICS is not that fluent or lags etc.
Kindly spare a minute or two and advise me!
Thanks in advance.
Incredible, I just came here to post that exact same question I used to have a mini pro but I sold it before there was ICS update, now I got another one for my brother and wonder if he should upgrade to ICS... have they solved the bugs that came with the first ICS release or is it still pending?
If you want to be on Stock, then remain on GB. It´s best in every way. ICS need more resources, so battery will drain faster, and it will use more RAM.
Also, a lot of apps don´t work well on ICS.
I´ve flashed my mini pro a lot of times, with a lot of ICS ROMS, and always i got back to GB.
I hope it helps you, it´s only my opinion
Gb good for gaming
Sent from my MANGO using Tapatalk2
Stay on gingerbread, less bugs, better for gaming and on ics aren't so many better functions compared to .62. Only a few android bug fixes and security fixes, but better stay on gb
Follow up question... is there a way to prevent the upgrade notification which comes on again and again?

Eh ... the update notification isn't for the ics upgrade if it comes on the phone, because the ics update can only be done via your pc. What does the information tell you?
Well thanks guys, so i should remain on GB, i don't have mental problems of being on ICS, i just need working phone, special when ICS does not bring any substantial feature on Xperia Mini.
Kindly tell me, when i charge my Xperia Mini, LED light turns green when charging reaches about 90%, what i want to know shoudl i unplug the phone when LED turns green at about 90% or should i continue to charge it till 100%, what is better for battery health and battery life?

I Think you should try ICS, if you not suitable, you can back to GB
I tried ICS on nexus s, it was cool there, but there is not much difference in GB and ICS on mini, so its easy to stay on GB, as ICS is not a major step farward for Mini at least, those who are missing stock GB, i think it takes 3 minutes to come back to GB by flashing stock ftf GB Rom with flashtool, i use to do it with x10 mini.
Someone one said charging battery to 100% is not good for battery health.

BTW the phone is amazing
FWIW, the auto brightness setting appears to be brighter/better on .69, although maybe it's just my imagination.
You could always make a ftf copy of .55 then upgrade to 69. If you don't like it downgrade
heres a link to instructions for Tabz pretty sure its no different for z2.

When I bought the device i upgraded to .69. Everything was ok until today. It seems today began the dreaded battery drain. Is there any way to avoid it or will I have to wait for it until the next update? I know I can go back to the .55, but I do not know if it would be the case.
I do not know if it's just my impression or is it really happening. It may even be in different conditions I am submitting the device, such as poor network, etc..
