I saw a thread on this last week, before I'd rooted the tablet, and can't find it any more. Please feel free to point me if my question's already been answered!
I have an A101It, so gen 8. I've just rooted it with the '-rw' method on here. Thing is, I can still only use the SD card for file storage - can't even move apps onto it - and would really like to know how to get the system using it as extra 'internal' memory. I might possibly be looking to use it as a swap file, I'm not clear on the terminology. At the very least I should be able to install apps to it, shouldn't I?
Can you do this with the root method I've used, or should I undo that and use uruk droid instead? Has anybody posted working instructions on getting some performance advantage from an SD card? (Or shall I just fill it up with 32gb of pointless home videos that nobody will watch?)
Not sure if i can help but ill try it anyways , did u try the ''app 2 sd'' apps?
I used them when my internal storage was full so i could move my apps to my SD card so i had enough space again.

I'm trying to get more storage by swapping them but having trouble found so. I tried most of the other internal external swap tutorials but they haven't work either. Is there an guide compadible with the optimus g or does any one knows how to do it. Thanks in advance. Currently on Tom the base 0.7.3 I believe is the version.
This wont answer your question but remember something. Memory can fail and the more its written to and read from the more chances it has to do so. Now im not saying using your internal memory would break your phone. You could use it for years and have no problems at all. But if and when it does fail wouldnt you rather it be a replaceable external sd card?

I already tried to do some research on it. But I didn't want to mess up my phone to try to get it to work. I know that it would have to be edited to match our dev blocks and mount points but I'm not a dev and would be blind trying to get it to work. I did how ever do the next best thing to recover some space; see my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056662.
If another dev or experienced person could get the SD Swap working it would be great. I used it for the longest and never had issues. Also, even with the SD Swap if you booted without an External SD Card the swap wouldn't occur and it would use the internal sd. It was perfect.
First thing I did when I realized this internal/external sdcard thing was to open up my terminal app and attempt a simple symlink (deleting sdcard and putting a symbolic link in its place to external). when I got the error message, the hideous reality of it hit me... this is linux on fat32 filesystem. :vomit:

My GS3 was running really slow, running down the battery, just in general not running as well as I remembered from a year before buying it. I decided to back it up, reset it and start from scratch. The phone has run AWESOME! One problem though; when it updated, it installed 4.3. Ever since, I can't do anything with my SD card. I get an error that the SD card is full, and if I look in the settings, it shows zero space on the SD card. If I plug it into my mac, it shows like 12gb of space.
I used to use Android File Transfer and that doesn't work anymore. I recently tried Airdroid, which works great for the internal storage, but tells me that my SD card is full.
Help!
PS I tried to post a link to a screenshot of what storage on my phone looks like, but since I'm a noob, I'm not allowed
When you upgrade to android 4.3 it will change your storage partition from sdcard0 to emulated/0 ... simply it will change its partition so all your old files will not be visible there but they are still in your memory... I suggest you find your old files and move them to new directory... There are many threads on how to find your old files.. Search

Download the sd formatting tool and use it on your pc to format your extremal sd card.
If you meant your internal storage the go read the sticky thread in general, about the changes 4.3 makes.

See, I've rooted my phone, but I can't move the apps to SD. I partitioned the SD for using Link2SD and it recognize the partition ext2, but can't create the links for apps. I fixed the problem the SD for writing (I can copy, cute and paste from internal storage to SD and inverse? - Sorry, my english is basic and don't have enough megabytes for using an English-Spanish dictionary =D-). So, I think that LG made a good job locking the system. I found some apps for trying to solve the problem, but I think the system protects of they (like Force2SD, Final App2SD, etc.) because don't let me install them, it says that the device don't have enough memory, but does let me install other apps heavier, like facebook. So, the system doesn't give permissions for move apps although the device is rooted. For now, I read that my only salvation is installing a Custom ROM. But there is no ROM for my device until now . Someone knows another option for help me?

I just figured it out, phone is rooted, card is partitioned, you can still only move very few apps to the card, but you can "link" them to the card, it is the option below the move to sd button. I went from having 400MB free to 750MB with the free app, and now have 1.2GB with the paid version. I am amazed!

I bought Xiaomi Redmi3 and I'm so far very happy with the phone.
The only thing is I'd like to move some apps to my SD card since the phone only has 16GB.
I read somewhere that since the phone has multilanguage ROM it already has root. It comes with an app called "SuperSU".
Does this mean I can move stuff to the SD card somehow and not break the warranty of the phone?
Is there any way to move stuff to the external storage without rooting the phone?

Hi, i recentely have tried to solve this problem. As far as i know miui doesn't support any kind of app on the SD.
However, with a rooted phone, i tried to use App2sd.
To use it i had to partition my 32 gb sd, with a first Fat32 partition (almost 20 gb), a Ext3 partition (almost 10gb), and a swap area (almost 2 gb).
App2sd used the second partition, the Ext3 one, to move apps in there.
Everything worked flawlessly, but when i rebooted the phone the MIUI didn't load the second partition (so App2sd said) and so i lost every app i moved in there, without being able to reinstall them (i recieved an error from the playstore).
Surely there may be a solution to the problem through the use of the app, however i'm not good enough to find it, and so i reflashed the miui and rolled back to the previous situation.
