this is the i9300 forum

The best is that you go to sammobile.com
There's a page for firmware
Search the respective firmware and download it
Usually the firmware's size is around 850mb
Flash it via odin
There's a lot of tutorials for how to update firmware via odin

[Q] how to get JB via OTA?

hello there ,
I have a stock 4.0.4 on my international version SGS3 ,
I used CF-root in order to use titanium backup.
for some reason , everyone else are getting the JB via OTA and I can't get it...
can I get help for this issue? I really want the JB...
my baseband version is : I9300UBLG2
build number : IMM76D.I9300UBLG2
Thank you for your help.
OTA will fail on rooted phone anyway.
Backup your stuff.
Triangle away and unroot by flashing original firmware with odin.

So your country has an update of JB .
Simple method if JB has been released for your country .
Use CHECKFUS to download and flash via ODIN ..
BUT i think you are mistaken and JB has not been released for your country .
jje
Dig as far down your trash as you can and you might find some JB down there

How about just downloading + flashing the Jellybean firmware instead of downloading + flashing ICS, then downloading + flashing JB (provided it's even available in your country+provider combo)

help!!!

Last night I updated my Sgs3 through pc kies. Everything just went great. It successfully updated. But nothing changed visually. About device still shows android 4.1.2 . And when I try update through my phone now it shows latest updates already installed. But before updating it through kies. It used to say something like " update service is for those who order" I forgot the exact text but something like that used to appear. Have I screwed my device? Am I going to get updated when it's officially announced for s3?
Not every update changes the android version. In fact 95% of updates DONT change the android version. It's the Samsung build number that changes. Eg XXEMB1 ETC

How to manually install 4.4.2 on Verizon Note 2

Reason why I am asking this is because I'm currently out of the country and wondering how or where to find the firmware for the verizon note 2. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I'm wondering this as well, since my phone no longer has an active Verizon SIM in it. Was hoping the update would show up in Kies so I could update that way, but it's still showing 4.3 as the latest. I haven't seen anyone post a dump yet that could be flashed with Odin. I assume this will be the "normal" way to do the upgrade aside from OTA?
Me too.....
We need to wait for sammobile.com to upload the firemware (i605VRUFND7). You can register to this website and download the firmware.
You can use ODIN to flash it.
But sammobile.com not yet uploaded the firmware....waiting

Not really. I've tried logging in/out on multiple PCs v& I still end up with a 500MB download that is corrupt
The update using Samsung Kies worked great and only took a few minutes. Didn't have to bother with downloads from slow, unofficial sites - just plug in the phone, click update, and wait 5 minutes.

Settings, about, somewhere in one of those options is the updater.
If that doesn't work try this, remember always backup first as this way can/might reset your phone

This will be the last time as you are providing no info of what you have done.
Have you even tried the method I have given you?
It does not matter if you have cancelled it or not as you are doing a manual update check.

In the about phone section can you tell me what version of android you have and it will also be followed by something like this UGMK7 etc
Edit: you need to match up your pda,csc and modem version to one on this site. If it matches the top on you do indeed have the latest.

well you've rooted your phone, do you expect to get OTA just like that?
Once your phone is rooted, that's the only way, to get updates installed, unless you unroot and install a stock rom, and then yes you will get OTA updates the choice is yours

If your rooted then install one of the great ROMs that our fantastic devs have put together. When there is an update that justifies a rom update they usually have one out in a short period of time.
