Hi all,
Has anyone ever had application "init" ask for root from SuperSu? I just did, and denied it, but I've never seen it happen before. Is this normal?
Thanks,
Ben

I saw this for the first time, after installed BusyBox Stephen (Stericson) and play a little with dSploit , init ask for root in SuperSU. All this apps up to date, gingerbread 2.3.6
No idea.
Have you installed a strange app?
If yes, deny and take a look to logs
If no, accept for one time. if it ask one more time, check logs
i'm useless

Actually, you have it on the nose. I had been using dSploit shortly beforehand. Thanks.

Hi all,
I was going through apps on my phone last night as clicked on supersu and noticed that I had "init" listed with a green #.
I never remember supersu requesting access to for "init" and I am worried that this is some sort of virus...
Should I be worried? I looked at my supersu logs for the past three days and noticed that "init" had no activity.
Is there any way I can check to see what this "init" is?
Thanks!

If I am not mistaken...
"init" is the binary used to load the scripts ("*.rc") at the root filesystem; which in turn loads the rest of Android.
It's strange that it asks for root though. It should already be root!

That's seems to be the consensus as I've read other threads regarding "init".
However, I pulled up a backup I had made on Clockwordmod during last October and this "init" is no where to be found on SuperSU.
I'm still worried this could be some malware or other malicous software pretending to be called "init" that actually isn't at all.
Any thoughts?
init that's virus
I'm posting late but for future users
Init don't have to call su to get root permission it grants its own root permission so just deny it :cyclops:

Hi,
I just received my order from Best Buy today, and Superuser was installed. I think that means it is rooted, do you think that is normal ?
Does anyone else has this on his TP ?
Thanks
(Edit: in fact not rooted, just an automatic download from the market, sorry)

just because superuser is installed, doesn't mean you have root. you need the SU in /system/xbin and busybox..
run ADB root
and type SU and see what it says
the market probably automatically installed it when you signed in, because you probably already have it on another device.

Oh yeah, that should be this, you make me less dumb now
But I thought superuser needed root to be installed (that's what they say on the market if I read correctly).
Update:
Ok, I downloaded a terminal, and I'm not rooted, since I get "permission denied" when I try sudo something or "su". Sorry for this thread!

Look man, superuser is ROOT. Either your phone is rooted or it is not. A rooted phone can run apps that require it like ClockworkMod ROM Manager, Titanium Backup, Greenify, Wireless Tether for Root Users, File managers like Root Explorer or ES File Manager if you want to be able to access the system areas of the phone. So far as I know, there is no "SuperUser of ClockworkMod". If your phone is rooted (You will see superuser or "Super SU" in your app drawer. Here is a free app from the playstore that will tell you if your phone is rooted or not.
Root Checker
Install it and use it to see if your phone is still rooted or if you lost root somehow. If you still have root, then when CWM starts, it will ask for root privileges and the first time it asks, you will be prompted to grant it, once, for a certain time period, or forever. For stuff like CWM, root file managers, and Titanium Backup, you always grant root forever and you will not be asked again until the app updates and requires you to okay granting root privileged or not, then you grand forever and leave it alone.
If you find out you do not have root or lost your root, then you have to root the phone and the procedure is different for different devices, versions, and ROMS. For that kind of help, you have to search for rooting <your particular device and android version number>

Hey, not sure if it matters, but my device is: Kruger&Matz KM 974 tablet (PIPO)
- Some apps, like all kinds of RootChecker's from google play, says that I have no root
- CPU-Z (mobile) says that I have root
- AVG antivir (mobile) says theres root
- Avast! says there isnt
Which app would be most reliable?
How to check it without apps?
Thanks.
Hope its allowed to bump from time to time? It moved to 2nd page pretty quick.
maybe you can see in superuser or supersu apps ..make sure the su binary is installed correctly

Could it be that its "rooted" (in the meaning of not locked), but without superuser app? So some apps checking for superuser (which isnt here) reporting its not rooted while others checking something else saying it is?
Kinda new to this, but could simply installing the superSU app solve the issue? Or well, could it actually break something if its installed on non rooted device?
Sorry for dumb questions but im really an first time android user

The apps are for rights management, for you to control which apps get su access and which apps don't.
You should be able to su from a terminal without the apps, but if you can, remember that other apps can do so as well without you knowing.

you can try the method from my group and let me know
What do you want to use root for ?
try the app that requires root (Titanium Backup? ROM Manager? etc? ), if it works, then you have root, if not, then not... who cares what the checker apps say....
I recently rooted my phone and tried to install my Direct TV app to download some of my dvr but says it can because phone is rooted. Is there anyway around this? Anybody know of more apps that might cause the same problem.

You can get around it by using the root cloak xposed module. I don't think Softcard will work while rooted either but I could be mistaken about that.
I found a genie go apk but didnt work either. Obvious my search skills suck. Could you like me to what you are talking about?

RootCloak Xposed module here
Their site is experiencing slow response time, so just be patient.
Once you dl the apk and install it will ask to enable it in Xposed, then you'll reboot and be set once rebooted-
I'm going real simple with the search.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
I never installed the su binary. I just rooted and renamed the apk. Is that good enough? I want to do as little as possible in regards to screwing with system files.
You need to install the binary just install SuperSU from the market. Then install findmyroot. It actually temp unroots on the fly just go back in when your done with the app that doesn't like root. Click the button and your rooted again. Super simple even a trained monkey could do it.

Why do you need root? It sounds like you don't want to mess with your phone or install stuff. That's what people usually do when they get root.
If you really want to keep root, then you have already been given the best, easiest, and safest solution to your question. Install the XPOSED framework (http://repo.xposed.info/) and then install the RootCloak module (http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.devadvance.rootcloak).
Hi folks. Upon checking Root Checker Pro, the app says I have root, but it also says that the binary files are not installed. See photos attached. Is that possible? If so, can someone help me out to update the files?
See if theres an update for SuperSu on the Play Store. If there is then update it. It will then ask you to update the binary.

Thanks - SuperSu was updated, but the issue still remains......
How could the binary files not update when busybox is installed and Root Checker is saying I'm rooted? Having issues writing to both internal storage as well as SD card.
Having the same issue on another phone model, if you got yours solved pls share how you fixed it.

Which is exact link I should click in phh's SuperUser?
Having the same issue - Total noob here!
I have Magisk but I have never had SuperSU. Does it matter that I don't have it and if so, how can I get around that without flashing/recovery etc and starting all over again?
I have the SuperSU app, fairly certain it's useless as I have Magisk. I have downloaded a patch for SuperSU in the lucky patcher to make SuperSU pro. Again, is this all pointless?
Any help greatly appreciated. I'm sure at the very least, someone can get a laugh at what, a complete noob I am
I will admit when I started this journey I had NO IDEA how out of my depth I would find myself
