This has happened a few times, enough to annoy me and to make me consider going back to 4.0.4
My WiFi seems to lock up or freeze, you go into the Gmail app, NO CONNECTION, into Facebook NETWORK ERROR, into search it times out. Yet go into Wifi settings excellent signal and my laptop works fine so its not an issue with the router, I disconnect try to reconnect it doesn't reconnect, I have to forget network and reconnect, it then works fine for a few seconds then happens again. So I give up on it and come back to it later on and it works fine, until this happens again.
Anyone else have this issue?
What rom are you on.? Try another one. Had 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 and was down to the rom if tether worked or not. If had it before re flash ya rom. Wifi tether, same thing really

Hi,
I have this strange issue, I can access for example Xda using Tapatalk when I am on wifi, but when I turn it off and use 3G it says I can not connect. Then i switch on wifi again and then it works.
It is the same with all forums when I connect through Tapatalk. This started when I went from Stock ICS, rooted running A1 kernel and moved to Toldos Jellybean V6 rom, also with A1 kernel. Any ideas/suggestions what could cause this strange phenomenon?
Thanks!

Hi,
I am using a samsung galaxy s2 I9100 phone and recently updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 XXLS8. My problem is that when I turn my screen off or it turns off automatically, the wifi network is off. Wifi duing sleep is turned to always on in settings but doesnt seem like working. If im chatting and until someone replies the screen turns off, I wnt receive any notifications until I turn it on to check manually. Same applies for email. When i turn the screen on, it will show wifi now connected. This was not a problem on ICS as even though the screen was off, I would receive notifications and email as it is sent.
So can u please suggest a solution and also I dont want to go back to ICS
Thanks
Read here how to go from JB back to ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951251.

Thx for your reply but as i said i dnt want to downgrade from Jelly Bean as i waited long to have it and it works well. The only prob being that wifi issue. I fink this problem should be solved instead. Anyone having the same issue?

Try to use a nuke script on the device and reflash JB.
Don't forget to backup everything.
Sent from my digital submersible hovercraft.
Whats a nuke script and how to do that? And also do i install the same version of JB again or search for another one as this one has a wifi problem. I downloaded it and installed via Odin.

How to use? Read inside same thread.
Reflash JB just like you flashed it the first time.

Are you guys using any battery saving app? Are you using stock Rom or any custom Rom? Please provide these data along with your question. Without these it's difficult to figure out the problem for any expert.

Same problem here with stock rom, no battery saver apps, and battery saving not active in the settings.
Upgraded to JB with Kies, factory reset afterwards.

Your kernel can turn the wi-fi off when the screen is off. I think it's a kernel issue.

Finally I fixed our problem about wifi. I know you will consider me a stupid, because my solution is related to something we decide to exclude from the possible causes of our wifi issue, but... The problem is fixable managing the router settings! I have a b/g/n modem-router... When it works in b/g/n mode the wifi issue appears... If it works only in b/g mode it disappears! I had exactly the same problem with a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, and the solution I found for S2 works for it too... I hope this can helps you too.
Let me know if you fixed or not...
Ps: I actually am on the stock XWLSD...

Might be a conflict between your device and the router.

Have you ever been able to connect in the past to the office router with the device?
If you are certain that you are inputting the correct password and are in range of the router, and trying to connect to the correct router, there is one thing you can try that worked for me.
Input the wrong password, and try to connect. It will fail but gets things moving again.
After this input the correct password and it should connect.
Good luck and I hope this helps!
Lemme try ....

I'm having the same issue. I'm running a stock ROM 4.1.2 (update received 4 days ago) and ever since I'm having this problem. My router is fine, everything else connects to it and I've checked all settings on it.
I've hard reset my phone twice since Friday and tried everything I've found (and understood). Can anyone provide a solution?
This will be the last Samsung I have as they don't seem to give a crap once they have your money.
You're having this issue since JB?
As far as I know this is not a bug, it's about settings.
Sent from the little guy
Yes. Only since the update. All settings have been checked, deleted and re-entered and it still drops out.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
A re-flash won't hurt, I find it odd tho.
You can also contact your carrier and ask them about this (you had an ota/kies update right?
Sent from the little guy
It was an ota update from Samsung. I'd contact my carrier, but so far, every time I've called for something it's been an education for them!
Might try re-flashing over the weekend.

Anybody else have the same issue as I do? every cm, aosp, aokp, ge based ROM I use I have the same issue every time I make or receive a phone call I am unable to the wake the phone up I press the home button the power button and the phone doesn't wake. Even after the call has ended it takes a few tries to wake and unlock the phone. I know its not the proximity sensors since I don't have this issue in tw ROMs. Any help or suggestion's would be appreciated.

KT kernel helps...but in some cases like my own taking the backplate off and cleaning the sensor is the only way to fix...they get very dirty on this model for some reason...there are videos that show how to do this
