Replacement battery larger than stock 4000mAh? - Galaxy Tab 2 Accessories

I'd like to take out my stock 4000 mAh battery and replace it with a larger battery, possibly 6000 or 8000 mAh?
I can't seem to find any larger batteries on ebay or google though.
Has anyone done this before? anyone have any specific recommendations?

most would recommend not to change the original battery (myself and Samsung) because the size for a larger capacity battery is physically larger. as the battery cannot be changed by users, opening the device will void your warranty and may also be of danger.

I bought my tab used in China, I have no warranty. Also it's not intended to be changed by users, but it is possible, and not to difficult and there are instructional youtube videos. once you open the tab up it's pretty straightforward. furthermore I think there are some batteries that exist that are larger capacity but same physical size.. aren't there?

I don't think you could find a battery that would fit.

I kind of assumed that some 3rd party company just makes replacement ones, hopefully bigger, at 5000 or 6000mAh?

You won't find a (genuinely) larger capacity battery which is not also physically larger. Why? Because if one existed then Samsung would obviously have used such superior technology when making the Tab in the first place.
That said, there may be a possibility of just buying a replacement battery of the same size, wiring it in parallel with the existing battery, running the wires through small hole(s) drilled in the back cover, and attaching the battery to the back of the tab. This is something I am considering myself, but obviously it won't be a popular mod.

Great thanks a lot for the useful input. Batteries after months of use go down in total capacity right? maybe if I just bought a new battery it would have a much better performance? Is there any way to find out what my current battery's actual max capacity is? I have current widget, but it doesn't seem to have the information I seek.

I see online some replacement but all with same capacity (4000mAh)
We have to wait to see batteries with more capacity, but when we find one that have 6000/8000mAh we also find a new tablet with more power and a bigger battery inside, so it's a waste of time

2400mAh Battery for Hermes

I have a sample of 2400mAh capacity battery (third party) for Hermes. However the minium quantity of this battery is 1000pcs. Could anyone got the channel to sell it in your country? (for wholesale or retail market)
Is this as thin as the original battery or is that the thick one and needs an extended cover?
There is already a 3200mah battery available for $59.99 US so unless the 2400mah battery has a MUCH better price, it probably wouldn't be a big seller in the US (IMHO).

The original in a 8525 is 1300mAH, so if you can get a 2400mAH in the same size you probably could sell ALOT. But if you still have to add a battery door for an oversized battery then SEIDO 3200mAH is a better deal.
Have you (or anyone) tried this one

looks lke the new back door they provide is no where near as bluging as the 3200mAh version ..... but the picture may be deceptive !!

Battery Upgrades

has anyone ever found a battery that's better than the stock unit?
and no, not the humpback crazy one with the new battery cover.
something like the Seidio battery that Palm Treo users have available ... it's 2,400mAh whereas the stock is somewhere around 2,000 mAh .. same dimensions but heavier ...
Hey,
I`m looking for one too.
Has anybody an idea where I can get a cheap one? (In Germany)
What about the China Batterys?
That depends which version of the battery you have...
O2 have always shipped the larger 1250mAh battery rather than the default HTC 1000mAh battery. The 1250mAh tends to last about two days of heavy use.
There is an extended battery of over 2000mAh but that sticks out like huge lump.

Messiah, I advise you to be careful in using aftermarket batteries for any electronic device. More often than not, price is directly related to quality. Cheaper batteries typically do not match the OEM battery's output capacities for volts & amps, and typically they supply a faster charge, not slower. Accelerated charging can damage your device. I know a few people who have damaged their phones/PDAs after using an aftermarket piece. If you are really interested in another battery, I would spend the extra $$ and buy an OEM one from HTC, from an authorized reseller (i.e service provider), or at least a battery that has numerous positive online reviews from users.
If you are concerned about battery life, you might consider investing in a Triple Charger - it can charge the Wizard from a car (DC) outlet, in your home (AC), or in an emergency. You can attach two 9-Volt batteries to the charger, and charge your device that way, regardless of your location. You can use regular or rechargeable 9V batteries. Here is a link to the charger bundle for the Wizard - if you decide to order, enter the redemption code xdadev to receive 10% off your order:

I just saw expansys prices for batteries ouch. You can get them US$8.00 each in NYC

Even existing standard cradle should be safe enough as it has current limit, it will take longer time to charge the battery, thats all.

Yes, you are right, but I'don't have a cradle and I'm using one of these
I was also eying for that one too. 3600 mAh, in case I bricked my battery tonight after modding. *cross your fingers*
^^ Briked the battery, classic! is it even possible?
how much time will it take to charge it.I bought the same battey
Do you bought this battery already? How long it takes to charge? Better, how long it last with normal use?
best regards
i have a 26oo mAh battery..It seems it takes a little more time to charge, and i use my pda2k for 5-6 day with 10-15 minuts of call, without using tom tom or other heavy program..
Bye bye

Hi, what means costum backcover? Can anyone put a picture of it?
i don't have that exact model. i have a 4200mah battery from ebay germany. but as you can see in the lousy quality photos (the universal really does not have a great cam) i posted as an attachment the battery itself sticks out a bit beginning about 5mm from the top and going to the very bottom, meaning, the device does not go in the cradle anymore. but it still fits the original casing. it is just 3mm thicker than the stock battery. i guess a 3600, 3200 or even 2600 battery would be even slimmer

$6? you are seriously making me jealous right now. i paid 30eur for that.

Get x6 AAAA batteries from a 9V battery

Handy (and cheaper?) espcecially if they are not easily found in your area.
Things to note:
1. Only work from a more premium brand battery, e.g. "super charged bunny".
2. The sub cells extracted are slightly shorter than a AAAA battery. You need to add a strip of connector which can be found from the dismantled 9V battery.
3. The sub cells are unmarked (-/+), special care must be taken with the polarity.
http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-get-6-aaaa-batteries-from-9v-battery-267606/
Tried and tested myself :
update 1: doesn't work on the battery I disassembled. Maybe only apply to certain brand.
update 2 : as rowards pointed out, indeed only certain 9v battery yield 6 AAAA batteries. Tried on a "super charged bunny" and it works. Though the sub cells are slightly shorter than the normal AAAA batteries - I had to add a strip of connector (from the disassembled 9v battery) to make it work.
It works-but you will need a more premium battery-much like the "copper top" one or the "super-charged bunny" one. I have done it with the copper top battery and it did yield 6 AAAA batteries. I learned that the lower-branded 9 volts do not use AAAA batteries inside (more like pile batteries inside). Try it with the upgrade brands and you will be very satisfied. Just be careful when you pry the casing off the 9 volts.
what a creepy video.... the haunting voice and that porn music...
This is an old Kipkay trick from many years ago. AAAA and AAA batteries are the same size. So you could in a pinch, disassemble one for your tv remote till you get to the store.
sent from my ppc through win97 servers bypassing exchange security
AAAA batteries aren't the same size, if you mean internally they might be but an AAA battery definitely will not fit in the stylus normally.
ugh had to buy mine aaaa from microcenter after stopping by couple stores that do not have them.
What uses AAAA batteries? Any tricks for getting N batteries? Those are getting pricey, thankfully me 41cx can go a long time on them.
Pictures!

The htc flyer/view stylus uses them.
For those who are curious about how this turns out, it works, as said before. Here are some pictures about HOW exactly it works. I used a 9v Energizer battery.

works great thanks!!
Big caution here folks...the negative end (with the peg) is unfinished and EASILY prone to short circuits. Last thing you want is your pen becoming a trick exploding cigar.
The reason these are smaller than an actual aaaa batteries is because they are unfinished. They don't have a cover on the negative end (with peg) and no familiar "button top" on the positive end.
Also, some cheaper brand batteries that have these quadruple a's in them don't always have a full 1.5 volts. Some under rate as low as 1.3 and will cause the pen to behave funny (like constantly write without touching the screen). I guess when they are connected in a series to make the 9v, it's close enough. You get what you pay for sometimes.
Anyway, would hate to see anyone hurt. Beware if your pen feels warmer than your hand!
Cheers!
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using XDA
I tried that, it actually work without adding a strip. I just pull the "spring" longer and it work

Battery heating and bulging (bloat)

My Redmi note 3 has developed a battery bloat (Bulge) and the screen has changed its flat to a curve shape. I went through some other forums about batteries and came to know that you are running a video or movie or playing a game while the phone is charging then it leads to a buildup of gas due to over heating. So its suggested that avoid usage of heavy apps on your phone while its charging (like even google maps navigation while charging) .
Can you post some pics of your curved phone....
You got a curved phone in the price of normal phone, you are lucly....
Yes thats the disadvantage of Quick Charge...
The Lipo Battery can not handle the high Charging Juice... It heats up and can blow up...
Look at Samsung etc...
Use a regular Charger... Yes it takes a few hours to Charger but it is much better for your battery, with QC lifetime is half compared to regular Charging... Think about it when buying a Phone with non removable Battery
Sorry for my Bad English
buy a new battery they are like $7 or return it under warranty if you don't want to open it, Lithium battery's are dangerous, don't charge the phone unattended since it can explode or start a fire.
IMO warranty is the choice
yeah I would return it for a replacement, xiaomi should know about this if it's a problem, remember this phone has a 4000mAh battery which is even more then the Samsung Galaxy S7s battery (3500 mAh).
https://www.classaction.com/news/exploding-galaxy-edge-s7-causes-3rd-degree-burns-man/
^ better safe then sorry
RN3P doesn't support quick charge. And what the heck... If I navigate with gmaps o nokia Here I need to charge the phone while driving.
This battery has a malfunction... One out of thousands..
But I would also like to see some pictures of the phone
If you use charger provided with the phone, it is better.
Avoid heavy games and watching HD/youtube videos for longer time while charging for safer side.
Can you please post some pictures? It must be a rare case. Never heard about this. If there is effect on screen, and phone body, as you're saying, you should contact Xiaomi, if they can do something, as battery problems come under warranty.
My redmi note 3 too have this swelling of battery within 6 months of use. I have to literally fight with the service center guys to get it submitted. One said its covered in warranty then a next guy rejected that its not. Its been around 20 days and still no reply from them. Their landline phone is never connected and they never call back. Service combination of Xiaomi and HCL is worst. Xiaomi don't provide the HCL the parts and the guy hired by HCL are worst and ill-mannered.
Day by day the battery size get bigger and bigger. The back panel and screens started getting out from the sides. Here are the images of phone due to swelling of battery.
Looks like images are not allowed for new users
