what firmware version do you have VRALJB or VRALL4? If JB use the exynos exploit found in section 1 of my guide. If L4 flash root66 via odin found in section 1 of my guide. this will revert you back to JB but there is not much difference between the 2 other than bootloaders. You can then proceed to adams thread for unlocking bootloader.
I have l4 do you have a link?

Flash a pre rooted stock rom (won't lose your data and you will have root)

Can we root Jelly Bean yet for the tmobile variant yet? Like any easy ways preferably....
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium HD app
Lelus method is the only way currently. A hex-edited bin file for P769 Jellybean was uploaded by cmahendra in his thread. So take a look
Hi, can't we root by flashing via cwm? As I have rooted by that method
My phone is l9 jb

Ah I misunderstood the OP I think. I was assuming that he was currently stock and unrooted.
Yeah if you already have CWM you can flash a rooted backup.
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
As I have unlocked bootloader, then flashed cwm using cmd in fastboot mode and rooted using update.zip via recovery

Hey friend
You can unlock your bootloader using fastboot method then it will be easier to flash recovery in kernel and if you flashed it successfully then you are done.
As after that rooting is just child play Earlier I have owned other android but I guess LG is the easiest and safest phone to root

If you don't want to do all the u boot and whatnot then just do the Lelus method with the hex file. It's not too easy but not very hard either. Hmm. . .I wonder if we could use the original root method that we used for 10e? Boys that was easy!

I am on stock vraum7 and wondered if it were ok/possible to update to the latest radios?
I'm thinking it would be good to stay on vraum7 incase someone figures out a way to unlock bootloader on this build...and it would be nice to upgrade radios.
Thx

Yes, you can. I am in the same boat.... on stock ME7, locked bootloader, praying nightly someone will find an exploit to unlock it, but I did upgrade to the MJ7 radios using ODIN.

You flashed the .zip for me7 (the top link, not non-hlos) in download mode using oden, selecting the phone option (default settings)?
Just making sure
Thank you

Anyone? Having dropped calls in this area and would like to update radios. Thanks

Just flash the non-hlos zip in either side of safestrap. I'm on me7 and mj7 radio. Works perfect for me.
Didn't have to touch Odin.

I don't use Safestrap either. (I have debloated my phone with Titanium Backup removing all Verizon and Samsung bloat).
Download the MJ7 "Modem Only" zip file in the OP of the thread I posted earlier. Unzip the file and extract the "modem.bin" file.
then follow post #5 in this thread.

really very simple. I'm on ME7 stock with MJ7 modems
Which modems do I flash (ME7 Build)?
And how does Odin work?

Yes the rooting is the same and the link developweb gave you is the easiest instructions and it is how I rooted my I717r. However....
If after installing Recovery (cwm or twrp) and you reboot into recovery to install superuser you find out you still have stock recovery installed then you need to do an extra step. Depending on how your phone was updated there may be a script installed that restores the stock recovery. So after you install custom recovery remove your battery while it is rebooting. This will prevent the script from reinstalling stock recovery. Then boot into recovery yourself to install superuser.
Info about rooting the Canadian version is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775263
I rooted my I717r with ICS installed. I installed ICS using odin and the script was not on my phone. I believe if your phone was updated via OTA then it got the script. I have no idea if this script is carried over into jellybean or not.
Thanks a lot everyone
