[Q] Best way to retrieve data from a smashed SGS2?

Hey guys,
In a moment of great weakness... i have destroyed my SGS2. This phone has been giving me a lot of grief lately (spontaneous and looping reboots, slow or no data connection, apps not behaving as should - requiring reinstalls, and general buginess)... and the result is a cracked temper and a cracked screen.
All that aside - i have decided not to get the screen repaired, but to get a new phone (no idea what my next handset should be - will gladly take suggestions).
So... Lately I have been backing up a lot of my apps using Titanium - which is great. And I have my contacts set to auto-sync with my gmail account - which it has failed to do since adding a few new contacts yesterday.
So my questions are... what is the best way to retrieve/backup the following data now that the screen is un-usable (but the phone seems to still work ok):
- Contact and Calendar Data
- Apps (or list of apps) that Titanium hasnt backed up
I figure I may need a different method of app backup/restore if i do not wish to root my next phone. There doesn't seem to be an automatic feature in the Play Store which keeps track of which apps I have installed... Is there another way to do it?
Thanks for any help.
Cheers.
I'm almost tempted to suggest Kies as solution for retrieving all organizer data (contacts, calendar, tasks, notes) since it does not require mobile screen interaction.
And there are two ways to save data: sync with Outlook or simple backup.
I'm ready to be flamed...
1. To retrieve your contacts or view them, visit Google.com/contacts and login your hole details. You can also sync them too ur New phone.
Access Google calendar online, to see your calendar info
2. I'm not sure how you can proceed with backing up your new apps since you said phone is working but unusable but the options below will work fine in getting back your apps on your next phone without rooting your new device.
I). Though Google Playstore:
When you log in your Google account on your new phone, open playstore, go to my apps and swipe to the next page too view all.
All, will show all the apps you have ever installed or updated via playstore. You can simply reinstall them one by one.
Note that you will need a lot of data so Wi-Fi is recommended.
ii) via ADB: this will work only if usb debugging was enabled under development option. And you have access to a pc. Root access May also be helpful.
You can use ADB to copy all your presently installed app's apks and even your titanium backup folder or any other folder to your Pc
More info on this will follow based on your response.
iii) MTP mode: this will work if MTP mode and not mass storage mode was previously enabled on your phone.
Simply connect your device via usb to ur pc and start copying your files especially your titanium folder, since your question is about apps.
iv) Titanium backup folder:
If you have a copy of your titanium backup folder, then all is well
Personally, I will galaxy Siii or NoteII if you have the patience.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Thank for the help guys.
Kies did allow me to retrieve those few un-synced numbers.
And the "my apps" list is a great way to see and reinstall past apps. Not sure if I will be able to root my new phone (Xperia S), so if I cannot get to the Titanium Backup data, this looks like the next best thing.
Thanks again guys.

Xperia P contact list problems and others

I have now successfully rooted my Xperia P with Bin4ry's root file and also installed a few security apps. I would like to keep it simple and I am not a big facebook or Sync fan. I have root and SU access.
Root Apps and others:
• SuperSU Pro
• SystemApp Freezer
• SD Maid Pro
• PrivateWeb Browser
• SecretSheep
Security Apps:
• LBE Privacy Guard
• Wifi Protector
• Bluetooth Firwall
• Zoner AntiVirus
• Smart AppLock
When I was rooting my phone I could connect it to my computer and is was shown as a drive and now this doesn't work anymore. Does anyone know why?
Thanks for your help!
Okay the problem with deleting files on the phone is solved. I contacted the inventor of SD Maid and he was able to tell me how to delete files in the Explorer of SD Maid.
Glad i could help.
(Long pressing entries will bring up the options in SD Maids explorer, from there you can copy/cut/delete etc.)
You can state your two other questions here, maybe others are looking for the same answers .
Yeah I also figured how to edit my contacts now. Sorry I am totally new to this Smartphone stuff and not used using everything with a touchscreen yet
There is only one question left though!
I have now found out that the Antivirus was blocking the debugging modus and turned the debugging modus back on. I also updated my app list at the top and tried turning off the firewall (LBE). When connecting the phone while it is regular running the following Hardware is being shown:
• LT22i
• Android ADB Interface
Both properly running. I remember while unlocking the bootloader the device was shown as a normal external drive and I would like to have this option again in order to add some music etc.
I just want to know if I have to connect the phone while normally running or in fastboot mode to gain access to it?
Could it be an ADD that is causing the problem or the Antivir/Firewall or is it an operating mistake?
Thanks for your help!

[Help / Question] Intermitent WiFi when the Google Account are Engaged

Hi i'been readed al post about the google accounts bugs in this site, but i'm not perfect; if my trouble already have a solution posted, forgive me, please tell where, and you can delete this.
To the work:
-The Device
I have a DooGee Kissme DG580 White (too many people says that the white units are the only with the issue) equiped w/ a MT6582 / MTK6852, and android Kit Kat 4.4.2 Kernel 3.4.67
-The Trouble
If i start the WiFi (After Re-Flashing my Stock Rom) they goes good without activate the Google Account, and can streaming (YouTube and Online Series)
But if i activate the google account to sync my e-mails or use the play store... the WiFi turns intermitent, specially in the streaming, for example if i add the account, or create a new account; and go to YouTube or wanna view a online series, i can see it near about 5 minutes after that the WiFi conection starts a Validation Loop, saved connection, validating ip, can´t connect; and again
Only enabling and then Disable the Flight Mode the WiFi connects again, but if i use something like YouTube, have 5 minutes more and i need to do this mode change again
-I've tried and don't fix my trouble
*Uninstall (w/ Titanium Backup Pro) the Google Play Services system apk, download it with web browser (the same version that i've uninstalled) and reinstall like the original
*Uninstall (w/ Titanium Backup Pro) the Google Play Services system apk, then install it from the play store
*Delete the Google Services Framework Data (from App Manager)
*Edit this line in the Build.prop "ril.telephony.mode=" (from 0 to 1)
*Setted the WCS line in the Build.prop to 0
*Reflashed the Gapps w/ CWM and TWRP in Pico and Nano packs
*Port MIUI V6 ROM and booted up fine but the trouble still happen
*Recently try to port CM 12.1 but i have the "status 7" error so the update script don´t have the "asserts" line and i'm using TWRP 2.8 (forgive me, this for other question)
*Check my WiFi confeguration and the sleep mode conection it's setted to always
*Deleted Google account (the problems still happens and i need reflash my stock ROM)
*Hard reset from stock and custom recovery
*E-Mailed to DooGee support team (they only suggest me a hard reset or re install the play services)
*Cross my Fingers and others
Please can you help me ?
Thanks in advance

[No Gapps][F-Droid] How to backup Settings, User Dictionaries, Blocked Numbers?

Hi all, I am running Lineage OS (but my question is not necessarily Lineage-specific) *without* Gapps (I'm using F-Droid only) on a rooted device.
I am looking for a way to backup (on file) the Settings, Blocked Numbers, and User Dictionaries of my device. The idea is to have a backup such that:
1) I can import smoothly on my PC
2) I can re-import smoothly everything on a fresh install on the same device
3) if I change device (and maybe OS version), I can still re-import manually single files (so, maybe not the full settings, but the user dictionary and blocked numbers yes for example)
The TWRP backup is hence not suitable, because it performs a full device backup.
It would be enough for me to know the location of the databases where Lineage stores such info (my phone is rooted, I can grab those DBs if I know where they are).
I tried Oandbackup but it looks definitely overkill, it always gives me a bunch of error, and plus I found very confusing to decide what com.provider.omg.wtf.orly.kthxbye to backup and what not
Any idea?
Thanks in advance ^^
Up! Even just the user dictionaries would be very appreciated!

Google Drive backup not restoring to the phone that is same model/same version OS

Hi all,
having a nightmare trying to restore 8 months of budgeting data which is essential for my tax return.
Have had my phone backed up with the built in Android backup and restore facility, which stores data on Google Drive (in fact, for the Expense Manager, there was also separate Dropbox backup that turns out stopped working at the beginning of the year without giving me any notification). Since I was getting exactly the same model phone (Xperia Z5 Compact), I expected an easy restore of the whole layout, settings, apps and their data.
Well, not quite so. Nothing was restored at all, so I had to start looking into it.
First, it seemed to have automatically made another backup, which didn't overwrite the old one and now if I was restoring, that's where the data would come from. So I deleted it, hoping it would turn to the other one. To my surprise, it would still restore from the new backup even though the file was not to be found on the Google Drive any more! Thought maybe it's cached but no -- it's not a local backup as if the phone is offline it wouldn't proceed.
When I check the backup section of Google Drive from browser on my PC or Android app, I can see a backup file that's dated 6th of August, which is the one that I need. With app, I can even "enter" the file and see all the apps that are backed up, including Expense Manager which has 1.4MB of data, last backuped on 3rd of August.
And yet there is no restoration from this backup and neither there is a way to download it from Google Drive to extract my data manually.
I have been going crazy with the support of Google Drive, who might have as well be bots, just more illogical. Xperia support couldn't help either, which is understandable as it's not really their issue -- I only hoped they would have an open line to Google with someone that do actually have some understanding of technical issues.
I have rebooted the device countless times, deleted app data and caches, removed my Google account and added again, reset the device to factory settings, but nothing is really helping. I have even tried downloading all my data from Google account but even there the backup doesn't show up! While I can clearly see it being there in my Drive, just no way of accessing it and it's driving me insane cause backtracking 8 months of budget is an awful task.
What are my options to get my data back? Can I make it work from the OS side? Or is there any way of reaching Google so that they let me download the backup file?

SOLVED!
Had to keep messing and managed to sort it out
It appears Xperia backup was messing with this -- didn't realize the main option under Backup menu on Xperias is not the Android one as it does ask for Google account AND Xperia got another full backup option with a separate build in app.
So, it was messing with the Android's backup. I solved it by not logging into Xperia account upon clean boot after factory reset but even then it appears only some of the things were restored. Also it did not work with Expense Manager Pro which I been using for the last year but surprisingly did restore the data when I installed the free version.
Sorry for the thread, hope this can be useful to someone else!
