Hello All.
I have recently run into a problem with the Rezound refusing to recognize the SD inserted into the device. At first I thought it was just the Sandisk 32GB in it, but I've tried multiple SD cards, another 32, a 16, and 8GB. All of them returned the same error message. I tried to format them through Windows and even CWM, but Windows will not recognize them and CWM returns an error. I am rooted, running stock ROM w/ CWM recovery and have never had this problem within the year and a quarter that I've owned a Rezound. Is it a hardware issue at this point? The phone was replaced under insurance back in August so it's still under warranty per say, in case this is an issue that warrants replacement. Any information/fixes would be appreciated.

^^ No matter what SD card is inserted, this notifcation is still floating at the top.
Not saying it is the same for you, but a few months ago, I had the same problem... Ended up talking with Verizon and they replaced my Rezound.

CWM isn't the most compatible recovery to use with the Rezound. Not saying that's the issue, but Amon Ra is the most compatible recovery for this phone.
When you popped it in your pc, did you go to "manage" computer and see if it's listed there? Sometimes an unformatted drive won't show up but you can format it there.
I have a 64gb card in mine and quite some time ago it came up "damaged" all of a sudden but reformatting it to fat32 on the pc fixed it right up.

Ah, duly noted. I did go to the disk manager and tried to format it there and had absolutely no luck unfortunately. I'm going to (likely) get my Rezound replaced tomorrow -- after speaking to Verizon they seem to believe it's a hardware issue. Even after full unroot and factory image, I still receive the error.

Hi guys,
After updating to 2003SE using easy bootloader/himaupdate.exe method my SD locks the unit after insertion or from boot. Was ok before (transcend 256Mb card) worked for last year+ till tonight.
Before I tried that method I bootloader/console dumped old rom image to the card, but ive formatted it now a few times with FAT and FAT32, no luck, still locks unit now.
Any ideas anyone?? Thanks.
Also, accessing start menu now causes a hardware style interlace looking flicker down the bottom 1/4-1/2 of the screen. Anyone???
Congrats and thanks to everyone involved with the 2003SE update, ... now if only this SD card works...
Cheers
WARNING !!!! I have tried a new 1Gb ATP SD Card and a new Kingston 512Mb SD Card and both brand new cards also lock the unit.
It would appear the 2003SE flash is incompatible with some revision hardwares and causes the SD slot to cease working correctly.
Also, the update causes the blacklight to sometimes flicker very fast, likely damaging the life of the backlight.
Be warned...
No problem
No problem .
Get the Pocket Mechanic http://www.antontomov.com

Hi,
Thankyou for the advice, however when inserting the sd card it locks the unit down hard, even with pocket mechanic ready to format, or running from boot quickly before it locks (once detects sd).
Seems the flash really killed the SD slot on my h/ware since no other reports it must be revision related at this point, bootloader can still read/detect updates on SD so its an update issue I think
The biggest problem
 The biggest problem I had with 2003SE is :
Poping up mesaage with "Need more memory" for Contacts .
I had to do the Hard Reset for a couple times .
Now I am OK .

^^That's what's at the root of my gtab's /sdcard.
Also, there used to be two folders in that that I had created and are no longer there.
Here's what I was doing immediately before I noticed this:
I'm currently using TnT Lite. I need to be able to access wifi at work but my company uses EAP encryption and TnT doesn't have a setting for EAP. I decided that rather than switching roms, I would just switch settings menus (using the files found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857939).
Stupid me, I downloaded them to /sdcard2 rather than /sdcard. I booted into clockworkmod and tried to install the zip from the sdcard but clockworkmod couldn't find anything. I realized my mistake and rebooted the gtab and hooked up the usb to my pc. That's when I noticed the file corruption.
Everything still seems to work as it did before, I just don't have access to any of the files that were in those folders.
In case it matters, one folder held the TnT Lite rom and the other held several videos.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?
Should I try to delete the corrupted files?
Any help with this is much appreciated.
I don't claim to know why this happens this is just what I did to fix my problem.
I noticed this on my gtab also, to the point my cal program wouldn't open. The only way I could fix it was to do an sd partition to it fix the issue. There are instructions on how to do that with cm8. This is from memory so please double check, go to the advanced options choose sd partition 2048/0. Please note that this wipes the sd card so back up prior.
I still get a few of those weird files buy not like before.
same thing happened to me but hasn't come back after
re-partitioning with cwm ... maybe that is the fix
I would *really* like to know why this happens (that and why
the sdcard2 gets wiped out sometimes).
Basically, you dare not trust android with any important data
and you never know if what's on it will disappear suddenly
Unfortunately, this makes the tablet just a toy
So is the best option really just to re-partition the sd card?
If I end up re-partitioning, will I have to flash the ROM over again? Or does partitioning just remove the user data?
Quote: will I have to flash the ROM over again?
No
Hi Guys,
I've just got a new 16GB microSDHC card. I've formatted it in the phone through android and through recovery, I've formatted it with GParted under Ubuntu and I've formatted it under Windows 7 (Quick format).
Despite all this I'm getting an I/O error from ACast whenever I try to download a podcast and the same from Google Listen.
Also when I go to look at the contents of the card in the file manager sometimes it says the card contains the correct files and folders and sometimes it says the card is empty or only has two or so folders.
What's going on? Have I got a dud card?
I'm running Cyanogen Mod 7.0 Stable.
(I'm going to try a long format under Windows 7 now while I'm at work, but I'll check the thread again when I'm home (about 9.30pm GMT)
Cheers

OK a full format under windows 7 hasn't helped. Unless anyone has a suggestion I'm going to return the card for a replacement.
EDIT: Just stuck my original 2gb SD card back in and it's working perfectly so I'm gonna email for a replacement tomorrow. I must say I'm impressed that android picked up the error rather than just spazzing out!
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
when does the problem start? probably it damaged when you create goldcard...?...?
No. My Hero's been rooted since the 2.1 update to too long to come out. I never needed the GoldCard. I've returned the card and I'm just waiting for a replacement now.
Having the exact problem except it's too late to return my card so I need to find a way to fix it. Got a 32gb class 6 right before I traveled. When I put files/folders onto my new sd card from my old one, most (if not all) the folders end up being empty and the most files are missing from the root when I reinsert the sd to my phone or computer. Have no clue what the problem is. I attemped an A2SD as soon as I opened the box so could that've messed it up somehow? Thanks.
I was wondering about the formatting of the card as well. First thing I did ootb was format the card using recovery. I'm thinking that might have been my big mistake. Once the new card gets here I'll try it without formatting and simply using the built in apps2sd which doesn't require a ext partition.

I'm running VR13 so i had to use old skool version of A2SD. But really, does ANYONE know what in the funk is wrong with my sd
Buggeration!
The replacement 16GB card is having the same issue. Found a forum thread here which suggests getting Windows to "check and repair" the disk. Gonna try that now, give me a minute to reboot to my windows partition and run the disk check and I'll report back.
[edit] OK that didn't help
Here's the result of the disk check. It says it found and fixed some errors:

But upon trying to download a podcast the download errors out with "I/O Error".
I've emailed the merchant who supplied me with the cards (mymemory.co.uk) they are a really good company and I've used them for years so I'm certain its nothing dogdey going on. Could just be a faulty batch. I'll let you know what they suggest.
First of all, this is not related to any unsuccessfull flash process, I got my S3 in 2012 and it worked like a charm after many flash processes. The last ROM is - was :'( - Blekota Note 4 Lite 5.2
The problem came when this morning, I plugged my phone to charge, it was 3% battery, I left it for 1 hour and when I came back, the back of the phone was very hot and the phone screen hanging on the first image of boot animation. I unplugged it and removed battery, once turned on, it did not leave the samsung logo. I suppose the chip simply fried...
I was looking for a solution and found something that may be for help, but the solution i found was for SGS-I9000, the process did not work for my S3 (this one with two others related to sgs1), I formatted the sd card with 16GB Ext 4 and 16GB Fat32.
As I am not familiar with scripts and linux commands, my question is simple:
Is there a way to install a ROM in external SD card ? my phone starts in download mode and I am able to flash TWRP (or any other recovery) via odin, this one shows me Internal SD card capacity as 0 when I try to install anything. See attachments below, the red messages appear also when trying to flash stock firmware , after the first reboot (I9300XXEMD3_I9300OJVEMC1_I9300XXEMA5)

If you cant mount anything, its either your internal storage is burnt too or corrupted from being affected by the burn. Your s3 might be basically destroyed

That's the point of trying to install system in external SD
Unfortunately that is impossible. Sorry
After nine months of working perfectly, my Verizon G3 has developed constant problems with corrupted and unusable SD cards.
What typically happens is that the card works fine for a few hours to a day, then it starts throwing an error message saying the card is corrupt and needs to be reformatted. I've tried everything I can think of and all the advice I've seen on various forums, including removing and reinserting the card, reformatting it and even replacing it with a brand new one. Sometimes it doesn't even recognize that the card is in there if I've pressed it in all the way; if I insert it four-fifths of the way, the card will work for a while before I get the "corrupted" message.
My current card, a 64GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SDXC, worked for a day yesterday but stopped functioning today.
Is it possible this is a hardware problem rather than a software issue? I have tried updating the firmware too (I'm running a nightly of Cyanogenmod 13).
Anyway, I welcome any suggestions.
Update. I installed SD Card Monitor and am seeing a bunch of unmountings, ejections and "bad removal" errors. What would cause this?

Likely hardware issue. There have been others who've had similar issues.
The whole SIM and Micro SD card tray combo in the VS985 is unreliable. After just one month shy of two years, my wife's suddenly stopped reading any SIM card, including the one that worked perfectly in my VS985 and the one in my VK810 LG Pad 8.3 and another she had from a 4G dongle she is to use.
LG wanted $75 to repair it. We bought different phones, I had been wanting to move on soon anyway.
Didn't have any trouble on 48A or 49A before replacing my phone.
Time to get a new phone. The SD Card slot has gone bad. I had the exact same issues start back in November and eventually, the phone died completely. It started with it unmounting the card, then stating it was corrupted and finally refused to keep a card mounted. I flashed back to 10b and other versions, as well as tried in safe mode, but eventually, it wouldn't work anywhere.
Oh, and when I would put the so-called "corrupted" card into another device or my PC, I would have to reformat it, but then I did a check on my PC and the device checked out fine. No bad blocks, etc. And the SD card would not fail in other devices, so that definitely pointed to a hardware failure in my G3. And now with the black-screen-of-death, it's a definite for me that it died. :crying: :crying: :crying:
