Have you checked your battery status in the settings pane? If so I would bet you indeed did get some charge from it just not enough to really tell a difference. Especially if you've been using the 2ma stock charger. Anything less than 1ma is gonna seem like it takes a lifetime to charge.

Use perseus kernel 31.2. It will up the charging to 900. Later releases of the kernel drop it back down to 633.

I woke up this morning and it still said it was charging but low battery warning sux because its soooo convienent...i hada crawl outa bed search around for the usb cable on the floor n plug it in such a hassle lol...by the way im on cm 10.1 it doesnt pop up wireless charging but everything looks like its charging and like i said it says its getting a charge in the pages in root explorer,is it something with cm i wonder?

I like all of these suggestions, but no one asked the most important one. You do know that the phone does not support wireless charging right? If you want wireless charging on your VZW Note 2, you need to add the necessary pins/connections yourself. Otherwise, you could leave the phone on the charger for 5 years and it'd never charge.

Wait...those little tabs on the coil dont just sit on the plasic and charge i coulda swore plastic was conductive heh jk...na i knew that much i dremeled some holes out and did the whole make some copper taby things..it actually came out super clean looken... But like i said it says charging battery meter goes up using the miui bar, says ac charging in settings, and says its getting 634ma of charge in root exploer like sys/class/power source/batter/charge now or something,i totalky wish i wasnt that smart and it was me being dumb lol ive been messing with it all day im pretty sure its cm that is not supporting or reconizing it because with the phone off battery pops up and it does actually charge but when its on it just does everything like it is but doesnt actyally charge,im gonna reflash my stock backup and see if that works. I dont gotta problem turning phone off when im sleeping but i work over nite so any important calls or txts are during the day while im sleeping so i kinda want them to wake me up if needed...anyway thanks for all the imput so far guys tryen to get some responece about it also in the cm nightly thread

Well its definatly cm related because i left phone of last night abd on charger and woke up with a full battery...

Dead Rezound?

Sorry if this has been already posted but I kinda need to express my anger. lol
So my rooted Rezound's battery (running CleanROM 2.3) died today while i was working. So being the dude I am I put it on the charger. It's been on a charger for the past 30ish minutes and it still wont turn on or give me any type of led indicator telling me that the phone is being charged.
Before you say "try a different charger or cable" I have, multiple times.

The phone won't charge a that's completely dead right away. Leave it plugged in longer.

There are many threads on this already...
The rezound, mostly ones with a 3.8v battery not the 3.7v batteries cannot charge a dead battery.
Check some of the other threads as there were a bunch of different little tricks people tried. I just don't remember them all.

Sorry to hear about the battery issues. I've heard of alot of people complaining of the same problem. Most just went to Verizon and had them replace the battery but having a phone that dies and won't recharge would be my biggest worry (why is HTC letting these kind of issues happen?).
Some said they fixed the issue by throwing the dead battery in a Thunderbolt for a bit to charge it up. So if you cant find a fix, either have them replace the battery, or take it in the store and ask them to put it in a thunderbolt for like 20 minutes while you wait?
Sorry that I couldn't come up with a better fix for you. I wish you luck.
Honestly I'd take it back to Verizon and get them to replace/fix it.
I just read another post with a possibly fix. I will not be held responsible if it doesnt work or messes something up
Unplug charger
remove battery
plug charger in
insert battery (while charger is plugged in)
except i hit the power with no battery in it idk if it makes a difference but yeah..
^^^ worked for me

I wish I saw this before I paid $14 for the overnight shipment of my replacement.
Mine froze and died while playing a game, then would not charge or turn on at all. In fact, my extended battery was in when it died, and it wouldn't turn on with the standard battery either. When I got my replacement, I tried both and only the extended worked, so I had to go to VZ to get a replacement standard battery. My phone must've used some sort of battery ESP to kill the standard when it died.
Quick side rant and warning: 1. WhyTF am I paying for overnight shipping on a like-new replacement model of a $300 phone that died during normal use? Horse dookie.
2. If you do need a replacement, dont activate a 3g phone during the down time...it kills the SIM card and they dont send another one!
I think I can help
plug your phone into the charger and take off the back cover. Now with the phone plug in take the battery out and put it back in and leace the back cover off now you should see the orange light on the front come on. If this works hit the thanks button.
try the fix listed above and if that doesnt work a verizon store should be able to help you test your battery/phone and order you a replacement under warranty if neccessary
Me personally would wip out some split cables and force that **** on lol but yea batteries can be charged as long as some form of reasonable electricity touch the correct pins....
I had this happen once, my son ran it dead playing games. I think it must have over heated. I was using the extended battery and was able to put the regular battery in and it worked. I did give it a half hour to cool down first...

wireless charging not working

i got the nokia wireless charger for xmas, it worked fine for a couple days now whenever i put the phone on the charger it wont charge unless i press down hard on the phone, but as soon as i let go it will stop charging. at first i thought it was the charger so i took my phone to verizon and tried it on the charger they have on display and same thing happend. any one ever heard of this? or got any tips? only thing i can think is charging it on the charger has warped the back since it gets hot, but thats just my opinion.
Could be a case or cover on your phone?
If you got ur phone hot enough to warp the back, you'd know it, lol.
I had a phone that was intermittently working on the wireless charger, and VZW replaced it promptly, no more trouble.

hmm, same problem ish for me....I have an otterbox case, and it detects charging just fine. Though I can go to sleep and wake up with it at less than I put it on..yet again, it shows it's charging.....Could it just be getting too hot and stopping the charge?
My phone stopped charging from my Nokia pad also. Took it into Verizon and tried to charge in a known good charging pad and it still wouldn't charge. They issued me a replacement phone and no trouble since

That would be a royal pain....I'm bootloader unlocked.
Wireless charging is considerably slower than charging via a wall outlet and maybe slightly slower than charging from PC via USB.
The closer the phone is to the pad, the stronger the charging should be. Putting large cases on the phone may possibly cause it to charge slower.
If its charging slower than the phone drains the battery you should make sure the phone makes as close contact to the pad as possible (thin or no case at all) and make sure you don't have overclocked settings or tons of apps that constantly run in the background. You might also consider leaving the screen brightness on automatic so when you charge it at night and the screen comes on it doesn't use full brightness.
Try these things and report back if the situation doesn't improve.
been using wireless charging since i got my DNA on my energizer. as soon as i got my new case (trident) it stopped working THAT night, no prior problems. I thought maybe the case was too thick. tried with my old Verizon TPU which worked fine and without a case, and now it wont stay charging for more than 5-10 minutes MAX, and usually not for more than half a minute... if i push down as well, generally it starts to charge. I really don't want to get a new replacement. I don't see how this feature could break as it did! i would only imagine it would just happen again..
i am glad i am not the only person who has ran into problems with the nokia pads, i tried the pillow and just the plate and it would never charge longer than 30 - 45 seconds, weird thing is that my lg pad charges fine.
i am using the energizer pad. I can only hope its the pad and not the phone! the nokia pad looks nice. hell i guess ill stop in a Verizon store and see if it works there! cant believe it would only last a month. even more odd is that it stopped working when i got my case. i wonder if having the case caused it? i went to sleep with it charging and it seemed fine, woke up to 22% charge. second night with case off the phone was dead when i woke up. previously my phone would be 100% ready to go and cooled off by the AM!
And again I wake up to my phone not being charged even though the charging light was on....seriously?
Random too...some nights it works. Some it doesn't...
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
I had charging stop last night on me, Took the phone off, put it back on and charged to 100 after that.
Had this happen to 2 DNA's! I think it has to do with the phone getting too hot which results in a hardware failure on the device itself. I honestly gave up on wireless charging.

[Q] Phone shows it is carging however does not charge any battery..

Ok guys, I have a i9100 for almost 2 years now but the last 6 months I've been charging three batteries I purchased with an external charger due to that my phone when connected to either USB or AC power it shows as charging, even if it is off it will turn on the screen an show the battery logo, however, it does not charge the battery at all.
I can even see the battery level going down when it its connected what to me means that there's something with the charging circuit that is not sending the electricity to the batterry. Something important to note is that when I use a Stock ROM on it it gives me an error if I connect it to power that says "Battery Disconected", dunno what on earth that means.
I'd be nice if one of XDA Hardware Guru's could advice me on this matter cuz right now I'm tired of reminding what battery to charge and having a backup battery in my pockets. Maybe a mod to bypass the circuit and charge the battery directly? jus saying.
Hopefull

You can charge the batteries with a external charger, so the batteries are fine.
Did you try reinstalling your rom and doing full wipes and formats?
I highly doubt that the problem can be solved by a mod, it seems a hardware and not a ROM related prob.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Discharging whilst plugged in, no matter what

Ever since sometime yesterday or something. My phone has been steadily discharging whilst plugged in.
I charged my phone to full yesterday and noticed that it was charging a bit slowly.. but eventually it got there.
Then I unplugged it and plugged in a really low battery (4%) to charge it to full overnight (I have 2 batteries)
I woke up to the phone at 26% after an entire night of charging (about 8 hours).
I thought that the battery must be dead. It's a cheap one from Ebay but it has the official sticker on it, but it's a bit creased so it looks like it could be a cheaper one with a fake sticker on it. It always used to last about 20% less than the original one I got with the phone anyway. But that isn't the point.
I thought it must be dead. But I charged it a little before work and nope, it just kept dying. So I started worrying if the charger had died.
Then I just swapped the battery out and decided to use the fully charged one.
After about a days use I went to plug it in and it ALSO started discharging whilst being plugged in.
In fact they seem to discharge FASTER if plugged in.
I immediately thought that the little Wall Socket to USB Adapter had just blown. So I unplugged it and just plugged the phone in via my PC's USB 2.0 Port.. Same thing.. it sits on the same Percentage (%) and then gradually (if I use it at all) it starts to discharge.
It's charging so slowly that if I use it at the same time it'll die. When before I could even have a Skype call and keep it plugged in and it would overcharge through the amount of power I was using.
Does anyone have any ideas? It can't be the battery because both of them are dying no matter one, and they can't have both died. It might not be the little USB charger (although it no longer gets hot like it used to) because if I plug the phone straight into a USB port on my PC (I know the mW is lower but it should still prove if the charger is dead or not) then it still discharges.
Any ideas? I mean... it looks like somehow the USB port is no longer taking a charge? Without my phone I am a dead man.. it will totally mess up my work and everything...
Have you used a different cable? You said you plugged it into your PC USB port but you didn't say with which cable.
I don't have another cable :/ as it's a proprietary one... I can't just use some normal micro USB..
9/10 it's the cable that's the fault.
It's not proprietary. I walked into a shop and said "2 micro USB cables please" and they both work better. Also my HTC and blackberry micro USB cables both work better. Try another cable. Borrow one if you have to
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I have a micro USB cable.. it's for my HDD and it doesn't fit. It's a little bit too big. The last HDD I had too was the same, just a bit too big. Maybe it's not proprietary but I'm pretty sure it's smaller than the traditional Micro USB.
Also, I tried doing a file copy from the phone to my PC and back and forth. The speed is totally fine, really fast.
So could it still really be the phone? I'm a pessimist and I don't see why the cable would just suddenly die... I've already had my phone replaced on one of the 'sudden death' issues like everyone else. I wouldn't be surprised if there's yet another hardware fault...
At the moment it's off, and charging from the wall.
EDIT: Maybe it's a Mini-USB not a Micro.. in that case I have 1 Micro USB. Still I think my phone just died somehow overnight................. again.

no, your phone uses a traditional micro USB. and data speed is not really connected to charging speed
New cord seems to have fixed it. 'Hama' brand (Finnish) triple shielded, with some gold plated connectors. Looks a lot higher quality than the traditional Samsung one. (Unshielded, no gold plating)
Also it's a bit longer, which I dunno if that will affect the rate of current. I know that shorter is better. It's 1.8m vs the older 1m.
Seems to be charging properly now, still a bit slow (phone is off) but I suppose that could just be the battery getting used to actually receiving a proper current finally.
Christ and I almost went and just bought an iPhone...
If in the end it was just the cord then €12.95 bought me peace of mind.
EDIT: Scratch that
It won't charge if the phone is on at the same time... it just sits at the same level of power. But if I use it, yeah it starts to discharge.
So basically it's lost the ability to charge whilst being used, and on top of that it did charge pretty slowly when turned off, but at least it did.
Looks like I'm going to have to sort out a way to fix it, then maybe sell it and get something else. I can't handle a phone that's such a disappointment.
The Galaxy S2 was a bit of a let down, to RMAs to Samsung now...

Shame that it doesn't seem to have done the trick.
I'm really confused now. The battery I got off the net doesn't seem to be charging really at all, but ever so slowly when the phone is off.
The other battery, my normal OEM one charged sorta slowly but kinda normally I guess..
Really don't know what on earth is going on. It's going to be a total pain to get this thing repaired a second time, and it's been rooted and flashed multiple times. Plus it has the new bootloader on it that you can't possibly trick that it's been rooted.. (was installed after a fix on warranty)
So the oem battery charges normally?

Thanks so much for the app. I bought the pro seeing as it's only 0.50c
Now this is really confusing. I'm gonna do some testing now:
On the cheaper battery Ebay Battery Using New 1.8m Shielded Cable With the OEM Wall Charger
If I plug the cord straight in from the wall charger without moving it the power starts off at 1000, then goes down to about 900, then after awhile to about 400, and then after awhile longer to 100. But I can't be sure that I am not bumping the cord even a tiny bit. Also the battery is at 94% so it could just be shutting off the charge in order to not overcharge. (Though before the issue the batteries always charged to 100%).
If I move the cord around and tap refresh the number drops by 100 - 200 every time I press refresh (all the way down to 100). Also if I move the cord perfectly back into the middle, the number doesn't go back up. It's like the more I move the cord around the lower the charge will be. If I leave the phone alone for a bit and look at it again after a minute, the rate has gone back up to 1000, then down to 900. Where it seems to stay.
The statusbar battery app shows that it is charging too (% is going up as normal)
At 97% charged on the cheap battery the phone only accepts a maximum current of 300. So it seems that the overcharge protection is working.
Though the battery can display fully charged and then drop to 97% after I unplug the cord. Which didn't happen before but it's an understandable thing.
Summery:
Moving the cord a lot causes the rate to drop dramatically.
When plugged in the current starts off at a full 1000, then drops to 900 (dunno if this is normal) so it seems to start off charging at max
The max concurrent, current that can be achieved from the wall charger with new shielded cable is 900-100 it seems.
The phone seems to discharge faster when plugged in (and current on 100) than when it's unplugged??!
Could someone please install the free app (Galaxy Charging Current), who isn't experiencing issues like me and wiggle their cord around and see if the rate drops too? I want to know if there's some sort of methodology that if the cord is moved around a lot the current rate is dropped, and it won't return to normal. Or if it's just my phone. Thanks so much!
====================================================================
Ok... tested with everything I could honestly think of. Ebay/OEM Battery, Both OEM/New Cord and USB/Wall chargers and etc,
Basically it's like this. Both cords are fine. Both charge the phone just as fast. Using the wall charger is faster than using a USB. (But not if the cord has wiggled so much that the rate has dropped lower than what as USB gives)
The current rate only drops when the cord is moved, and here is the crucial thing:
When the cord is moved the rate drops anywhere from 100 all the way to 900. Meaning that the rate of charge can go from 1000 (max) down to 100 (absolutely nothing). Either in 1 go, or in bits every time the cord moves. Also if the cord moves EVEN ONCE, even the smallest bit the rate can just drop on its own.
So basically it seems that somehow there charging port has been damaged or something and the pins are no longer connecting and the phone or charger or SOMETHING has this incredibly bloody stupid thing where if the cord moves or if the rate drops, it doesn't go back up. So if the rate drops all the way to 100, it won't increase or go back to normal after a certain amount of time.
Or maybe I am wrong.. because if I push the cord even a little towards the back of the phone the charging light goes off completely, and the rate hits 0. Whereas if I pull it towards the front of the phone, the rate stays constant (at max) but if I take my hand off it, the rate drops to about halfway or really low. It just seems like the little connectors inside the phone are really.. really flimsy and loose. It obviously got damaged somehow. Either by constant connecting and disconnecting or bending or just you name it.
So does anyone have any suggestions? I might try and clean the inside of it with nail polish remover or something in case they're just dirty but I doubt it will do much. It seems definitely like the plug just doesn't fit in and connect well enough any more and that's where the power is being lost. It's gotten a bit loose, but really nothing out of the ordinary.
I can confirm that putting it in such a position where there is absolutely no chance for the cord to move at all, allows the phone to receive a constant rate of the highest possible charge.
I guess I could try and make the fit a bit more snug myself but it would be only really temporary.
I think I just need to get it serviced again, but I am not sure that I could because it's got a custom rom, it's rooted and it's already been repaired for one of those 'sudden death' issues already...
How generous is Samsung with their warranties?
Either way this is a terrible blow for me, I need my phone to pay my bills and stay connected with my work and friends. If I can't have it plugged in and still be able to move it around and use it. Then it's basically useless.
At least for now it seems to be charging okay just sitting completely still on the table.

I am having the same issue as you, I have been managing to get it charged using my ipad charger which is stronger but it sometimes still doesn't charge with that. Last night I put it on charge and it turned off due to dead battery in the middle of the night. Did you manage to fix this?

Since no one replied with a solution I will let you know my fix. I sent it to Samsung for repair under warranty and they have fixed the issue. It is due back tomorrow. Just so anyone else having this issue knows its covered under warranty.
I've got the same issue. At first i thought it was the custom ROM acting up. But even after unrooting it and going back to the stock firmware its still the same. The only way i can charge my phone is by switching it off nd plugging it in. Cuz no matter what i try, if the phone is switched on,the battery still drains. Couple of my friends had the same issue too. They ended up buying new phones. Guess this is a standard fault with all Samsung phones. If anyone's got a fix,do pass it on.

I´m having the same problem. I flashed my S3 i9300 to a cianogenmod 11 ROM. It's a relief to know it's not the ROM. The technical service prom the phone companies here really suck, so i'm taking my S3 to a third party cellphone technician and tell you if he solved my problem.
try this.
dear poster I have a solution that may work for you ,first thing take the battery out of the phone and leaving the battery out plug the charger in .leave it that way for about an hour .then unplug phone pop battery in turn the phone on .the replug the charger while the phone is still on and see if it charges better .

Mega 6.3 won't charge!

Guys, i have a 10 months old Galaxy Mega 6.3 and suddenly i'm not able to charge the battery.
I've tried to charge with 30%~ 40%, with my phone turned on, which i always do, everyday... And don't charge at all.
I've tried to charge it turned off, but keeps repeating that screen with the battery with a circle(and a rumble), then this repeats over and over...
Is my battery dead?

Hi..first try removing the battery from the phone for about 10 secs and put it back in and see if that will help, because the battery should still be in a charging state even if the battery was not that good as this has happened to me on other samsung phones, and if not better re-install the rom you have, but make a backup first if you can..worth a try before proceeding further.

I have the latest stock rom installed, so, i don't think it is a rom issue. Besides that, how can i re-install it if i can't turn my phone on? Now i have something 1 or 2% battery life =/
I've tried to remove the battery a couple times, 10sec, 10min... nothing seems to work. Since i have warranty, i'll have to use it, the problem here in Brazil, specially in my city, the service takes forever(3 to 4 weeks =/)

Oh okay I didn't know you could not get into the rom or past that battery icon..then most likely a port problem forsure..did you try another usb cable to just make sure.
Edit: when you have your usb cable unplugged from the phone it should still boot into your rom as the port has nothing to do with that part..what does it show on your screen when you boot the phone without the usb connected.

The battery terminals may be dirty.wipe both gold coloured contacts with a clean, soft cloth and try charging the battery again.

This happened to me last month on my 10 months old Mega. It was driving me crazy. Phone was charging just 10% / hour (as opposed to 60%). I tried charging with other chargers but result wasn't different.
After much research I came to know that my phone did not have any of the following problems
- ROM (stock 4.2.2), my phone was going into good deep sleep etc.
- Some app (I factory reset my phone to rule that out)
- My charger (I used others')
- My USB port (I always use wall charger)
The problem was with the freaking charger cable (weird right?). I took my friend's charging cable and used with original charger and my phone was back on track.
I still have to buy a new cable. Just researching to get a good one (weird again).
I found the Mega does tend to get hot sometimes where the battery is. I think it's faulty connectors. One of mine looks a bit discolored. But who knows.

Okay, so I just this moment joined the forum JUST so I could thank Member hopsin444 for this advice. Just as he guaranteed, it was the charging port. After getting his advice, I downloaded the PDF User Manual for the Galaxy Mega (my phone). I did what another member suggested and unplugged the battery for 10 minutes (just to be safe). I plugged it back in, and used the brand new charger and cable that came with my phone. I had been using a different charger, so I wanted to get a brand new clean start. Sure enough, the battery started charging immediately, good as new. I must say that in order for this method to work, you must insure that all components are in working order: battery, charger, and cable connectors. Because, otherwise, it's hard to debug exactly which little part is the culprit for the problem.
Once again, thank you ever so much hospsin444. You saved me a lot of cash, trips to the repair shop, and untold headaches.`
Update: The phone charge from 66% to 70% and then stopped charging again. I'm thinking it's the little slot -- on the phone itself -- that the charger cable plugs into that is the problem. My only option now is to take the phone to get repaired. But my thanks to hopsin still applies. It was fun while it lasted.

Your not the only one, this just happened to my Mega at the end of July and i replaced the port just the other week and still nothing. Only way it charges is if it was off...i cant charge it while its on, the battery depletes itself and on top of that i can't even use my portable battery to charge this phone. The cable has to only be a Samsung issued cable and that doesn't even make anything better. I'm just going to officially retire this phone and get me another phone
(Third Galaxy phone model.......and my LAST)
Replace USB port Had the exact same problem Phone would charge then not

I figured out two other reasons why my phone was charging poorly even when I replaced the USB port 1. The charger wire was weak (yes it is a Samsung USB wire) and needed to be replaced. I wasn't getting enough power from the outlet to the phone and it would stay at a percentage for 30 minutes or longer and 2. There was a Low Battery Dump setting that was off (similar setting like the SGS3 and SGS4)
But one thing that now gets me is why I can't use my portable battery to charge anymore? Nothing is wrong with the battery (it charges all of my other electronics with no problem)

Could I try to cover it with a towel then put it in a bag ant it in the freezer for 12 hours and take it out and let it reach room temp
I'm having the same exact problem, did you figure out what the problem was?
sometimes change the plugin charger can resolve the problem, but if you have change the plugin and still can not charge like mine maybe
using charger 0.7A can resolve the charging problem, very slow charging . OR using 2.1A charger but try and error until found the perfect one. (it works on my mega LTE)
Me too, having charging problem with my Mega 6.3 i527m. : (
I had used different chargers, cables and batteries, still the problem of not charging was unsolved.
But when the original usb cable and Samsung's proprietary 2A Traveler's charger that came with my old Samsung Tab 7.7 were used, my Mega detected it immediately and the grey battery icon flashed off and on faster than before - a good sign it was charging.
So, that means my charging port/flex is not defective.
Lesson Learned: It pays to use the original accessories that came with your device or gadget!
