[Q] Bootloop when installing any ROM but Sprint's original - HTC EVO 3D

Please help: I am stuck with stock ICS ROM from Sprint. I install ROMs with 4EXT, but both what I tried so far:
CyanogenMod10: WILD-FOR-THE-NIGHT-02152013-shooter.zip
and 2 months old Cool-ICS-v10-EvoC.zip (which I installed successfully on my previous Evo 3D)
both give me a boot loop.
I only can load Sprint's 4.0.3 with HTC Sense 3.6.
Yes, I wiped data/factory reset, and cleared cache and dalvik multiple times.

Evo 3D CDMA (Sprint)
JuopunutBear S-OFF
HBoot 1.58.5858
4EXT Touch Recovery

I'm just a newb with this phone, but could it be a matter of an incompatible Hboot? Wild For The Night recommends using any Hboot lower than 1.57.

I'd try flashing 1.50.5050 or 1.04 ENG Hboot and see if that fixes your bootloops.

This is great: any ideas how to downgrade HBOOT from 1.58.5858?

Still doesn't work for me. After the Cyanogenmod circle logo, it displays the message: "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phose has stopped", and after that phone turns black.

That's a bad flash. Try reflashing the ROM and if that doesn't work download it again and make sure to check the MD5 value against the one in the OP.
Also, make sure you "format all partitions except SD" card in the 4EXT recovery wipe/format menu before flashing again.
At least you are past the booting problem.

Thanks for troubleshooting me. I tried other ROM, and it worked. Now I have HBOOT 1.57 and Viper3D ROM with Nova launcher and 4.1 HTC Sense. I will play with it to see how I like it - so far it's very good. At least it's not a stock Sprint's ROM, which was giving me headaches. I will leave the upgrade to CM for later. Now I know how to flash bootloaders and ROMs.
Thank you again for you help!

now i just can boot to bootloader..
In order to release your phone from this state I recommend using adb and fastboot on your pc.
I too experienced this when I updated from 2.08.... to 2.17.... Following this I ran the Ruu from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
This was the original stock: I ran this from windows, rebooted, updated using OTA until I was fully stock 2.17
2.08.651.2 RUU http://www.multiupload.com/09NOXKCUN0 Thanks lchupacabras for mirroring!
And this site for current RUU
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/9282-sprint-htc-evo-3dshooter-shipped-roms/
These are .exe files that will reset your phone to stock state for OTA updates.
I'm on Hboot 1.50

I would get an RUU file for your phones current stock version, extract all the img files and flash them individually one by one via Fastboot.
I think that it could work better.

I Replied to your PM, let me know if that works.
I didn't look at the picture well, but one thing I do suggest and that can be cause of some issues over the process is that you need to unlock the bootloader from your phone again.

[Q] How do I get the official ICS update?

Hello all. I'm new here and definitely new to modifying my phone. A few months back I got impatient and installed a leaked version of ICS on my phone. Now I can't get the official release. When I check for an update, it says there isn't one available. All I want to do is get it to the official "stock" version. How do I do this? I've been reading about S-on and S-off and things like that and don't know what most of it means. When I installed the leak, I found a download link and instructions on a different website and was able to follow them. I would just like some guidance getting it to accept the official release or something that works well. It seems like the version I have has some bugs and doesn't work right all of the time. My current software version is 3.13.605.7 710RD. Thanks in advance.

in order to be able to recieve an official OTA, you would need to revert the phone completely back to stock.
(If you are "Unlocked" and S-on)
1st: Put a Stock rom
2nd: Relock the bootloader

Ur right. If you were on say 3.03 and flashed 3.14 while S-On, U can't flash a previous version or else U could brick ur device. However if U S-off , U could revert to any versions. But if ur still on stock, U can S-off and do the steps mentioned above, and the S-On again.

[Q] Bootloop... Cant seem to fix

I have been trying to fix this for two days now. I unlocked my bootloader, rooted phone, installed custom ROM. All was working fine until yesterday I tried to put a different custom ROM on and it went into a boot loop. Phone is a Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE. I have voided my HTC warranty by unlocking boot loader and I don't have a Sprint replacement plan.

If you could get your phone to boot you could use Moonshine. It's Windows friendly and takes about five or ten minutes to complete. Using Dirty Racun, just follow the steps. Part of the process involves downgrading with RUU. Once you're done you can flash whatever ROM you want and not have to worry about installing the kernel separately.

Just re-flash whatever ROM you were running previously, and then proceed with S-OFF so you can then flash whatever ROM you want.

MeanBean and ViperROM are both S-on friendly, so you shouldn't have a problem getting either one up & running. Just read the OP for whatever ROM you choose so you get it installed correctly

try 4ext recovery, or newer version of twrp

Also check MD5 hash to see if you zip was a bad download.

No need to worry about locked hboot when s-off. 1.50+ hboot will say locked becaused that's when HTC added to allow custom roms and disable DRM.

Htc one x+ can't install ruu, ota or custom roms

Hi! Recently I bought a htc one x+ in a job lot. . The htc was stuck on htc image, the bootloader was unlocked I tried to flash twrp the recent versions and the oldest, I tried cm10 to cm12 roms and it gave me "error status 7" in the older versions of recovery and in the newest "error executing updater binary in zip". In every instalation I wiped all data, all cache and dalvik cache, same error. Then I tried to install factory RUU but the radio on the phone and on the RUU available for download doesn't match so it gave me customer id error. I also found a post in xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823&highlight=rom) that says that with the CID 02_001 the phone could be flashed so I followed the instructions, lock the bootloader etc and when I flashed the rom with fastboot it said that failed. I don't know what more can I do , so if anyone could give me a little tip to solve this situation it will be extremely aprecciated!!!
PS: There was no back up on recovery to return to stock Enclosed is the attachment with the definitions of the phone: bootloader version, baseband, CID, etc.
Thank you for your help.

Because you likely used the wrong TWRP for cm10 you need twrp-2.8.* for cm-12.1.
The error executing the script might be due to any changes you did to the zip file.....For example opening it completely and then re-zipping it.
hmm which recovery did you install? did you try 2.8.70 from Loirs thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995002 click on the download link which says "my build" <using this one myself) You will need to unlock bootloader again.
