When I go into settings and click storage I have:
Internal Storage for about 1 GB
SD Card for about 16 GB
and then Internal Storage again for about 6 GB
It's frustrating because all my apps try to store on the first Internal Storage, so after a while it gets filled up and I have to go through and "Move to SD Card"
I'm pretty sure it should be 8GB of interal storage and then my SD card (which I thought was 8GB, but apparently its 16)
Would wiping "Internal Storage" in recovery fix this? If that will fix it, I'm willing to save everything I need on my SD card and wipe the internal storage and start with a clean install of CM. Just curious if that would fix it?

Hi all!
I have recently brought an 16GB External SD card for my SGSII, to store my Titanium Backups. I found the external_sd folder in the internal sd card, and thought that it was the External SD card, so i placed all my backups there. But just recently it seems like i have run out of space on the phone, so i can't update some of my apps. I started deleting a lot of photos and videos from my phone and cleared 2.5GB, but i still can't update some of my apps. I began looking through my folders, and noticed that i also have an External SD card partition on my phone. The same one i see when the phone is connected to the pc. In it i can see a Clockwork Recovery folder containing my ROM backups. So i began wondering if the external_sd folder is actually located on the phone and not in the External SD card. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, when i open the Storage (i think that's what it's called) section in the settings on CM10, and noticed that i have 2 Internal Storage sections, one of them has only App data, and the other has photos, apps, music etc. and a SD Card section, with 6.64GB storage left. Does anyone know why is there is 2 Internal Storage sections?
Thank you in advance!

As far as I know the "external_sd" is your removable external SD card. For some inexplicable reason it mounts as a sub-directory from the internal SD card, but it is definitely your removable external SD card.
I have a feeling that Jellybean brings a change and the external SD card mounts in a different way to ICS. I had only a brief experience of this when I played with the leaked ROM but I have reverted to ICS because of battery drain problems.
Your internal memory is partitioned with about 500MB for the system ROM, and 2GB reserved for app installations. Once this fills to around 85-90% you'll begin hitting problems with insufficient storage space errors. If you move apps to SD then this will make use of the data partition of your internal memory (about 12GB available to user on a 16GB device).
I'm running JB (Rootbox 3.2). I set the target path as /extSdCard/Titanium Backup in Preferences for it to work.

So i should move my apps from the App reserved partition to the main storage partition? Or the external SD card? And how do i do that? Sorry for noob questions, i am not too much into how Android works
I don't think you can move apps to external SD card.
Go to settings -> applications and you'll see your apps listed with information about their size. Select one, and you should see a button "Move to SD card". If this is greyed out then the app doesn't support operation from the SD card, but for many you can press the button and it will move the app for you.
The interface in settings isn't the best - I use ZDBox which is a free utility tool available from the Play Store with several useful functions, including an improved "App to SD" UI which makes it easier to see what is going on.
Be careful with widget apps and others that interact with OS functionality as these often don't play happy if moved to SD card.
in your internal memory there is a folder call externel_sd ok leave it coz you still in your internal memory and go search your external sd card memory it named extSdCard or emmc

1st internal is /data, 2nd internal is /storage/sdcard0 (your internal 11GB memory).
I have searched high and low for an answer to this but cannot seem to find one. I have recently rooted my NT to use CM 10 and everything appears to be working fine save one exception. I have an external SanDisk 32 GB class 4 card that I am using and it only shows 1GB available when it is installed in my NT. Here are the things I have tried without any luck.
** reformat SD card using SDFormatter.
** double check the partitioning using mini tool and verified that there is only one partition 32GB, FAT 32.
** put the SD card in my laptops SD card reader and I see that all 32 GB are available.
** put the SD card back in my NT and uses AppMgrIII to move the app to external SD, then ejected the SD and saw that the app was no longer available so I know what my NT is calling the SD is in fact my external SD card.
The only thing I have not tried is a new SD. Any clues?
EDIT:
One note, when I go into Settings --> Storage I see two sections marked internal storage and one SD card section.
Internal Storage 1
Total Space 3.97GB
Internal Storage 2
Total Space 29.71 GB (This is my external SD card)
SD Card
Total Space 1.00GB

The 1 GB you see listed is actually internal emmc. Your 32 GB sd is actually 29.71 GB formatted. Your internal user media is 3.97 GB.
This is how internal memory is allocated-
1 GB RAM+1 GB emmc+4GB media+2GB (split between OS and /data)=8GB model.
1 GB RAM+1 GB emmc+4GB media+10GB (split between OS and /data)=16GB model
You did not mention if you have the 8 or 16 GB model. Either way there is nothing wrong with your memory allocation.
I have the 16 GB model. When I try to move apps to SD does it shows it moving to the 1GB sd card which you said was the internal emmc. I will play around some more to see if I can get some more evidence. Thank you for answering!

Are you running an app that mounts/swaps emmc as SD?
No
If you're using paranoid android it swaps the internal storage and SD card. Nothing to be worried about, but if you want it swapped use the succulant build.
did you figure this out? My nook color running 4.0.2 does the same thing (shows 2 external sd cards), and installs all the "sd apps" to the smaller sdcard1 partition instead of my actual external sdcard2. How do I tell it to treat my actual sd as the external sd so I can put all my apps on it?
many thanks

It is "figured out" for OP in the replies. To switch on your build, try asking in the Color forum section. There may be a zip to flash or maybe a change to be made in the build prop. But you need to check it for your device and ROM.
oops sorry, I had so many tabs open researching this I didn't realize this wasn't the NC forum. I have asked in there on a few threads, hopefully something will turn up.
thanks!
Hi, I'm using a n7000 Slimkat 4.4.4 rom, with slim kernel 3.0.80+ autobuild.
Previously I used link2sd to create a partition on my SD card to get more space on my internal, and after a while I realised my USB storage is being recognised as an SD card. I tried a full wipe and reinstalled my rom but now even the internal storage is messed up. Not even the reformat works anymore
It's too complicated to explain in words so here are the screenshots. So how f**ked am I and how do I salvage this?
Each time I link files into the card (700mb size, it worked previously) it freezes the whole phone
From the storage option I can see this:
1. Internal storage 2GB (normal, nothing wrong with it)
2. Internal storage 11GB (this should be USB storage, and it has a erase SD card option at the end)
3. SD card 2GB (It was 4GB but I used link2sd to create an internal partition. MTP and mass storage is not detected but using card reader it is fine)
4. USB storage (there is only a mount and erase SD card option which is greyed out/unclickable and does not has any space indicator)

there is nothing wrong at all.
just repartition and reformat your sdcard and dont use external sdcards for app storage.

it should be grayed unless you connect usb storage to your phone.
Hi guys,
I have a OPX with CM 13 on it. One sim and 64 GB memory card. After flashing it asks for "PORTABLE SD CARD" OR "SD CARD AS INTERNAL MEMORY".
If we chose as PORTABLE SD CARD then we can't transfer apps on too it, as there is no option of change device in app information. And when we chose for SD CARD AS INTERNAL MEMORY it works good but when we change ROM we need to keep formatting the MEMORY CARD and can't even access the original INTERNAL MEMORY of the phone. Any suggestions how to overcome this issue.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, in Marshmallow, migrating app data to the SD card currently only works when the SD card is formatted as internal storage. One of the caveats is that you WILL NOT be able to access the faster internal storage. Kind of a bummer because I feel like the adoptive storage feature is still a bit quirky and slow for me and would rather much prefer the portable storage for now- with the decision to move certain apps to SD.

I'm having problems using an sdcard aswell. When i reboot my phone or clear cache for an exemple, the sdcard don't work anymore and the storege menu says that is damaged. Then i need to format a lot of times my SD and lost my data
Hi guys,
I am on the Moto G3 (osprey) and am running LineageOS 14.1-20170125 nightly. I have a 32gb microSD card formatted as internal storage as well as the internal storage of 16gb.
I have used 7gb out of 14.68gb available on the internal storage and only 2.66gb of the 28.80gb available on the microSD card. However, I am unable to move apps from my microSD card to my internal storage, despite there being plenty of available storage. Whenever I click 'change storage' and select 'internal shared storage', it starts to move and then gives a error saying 'not enough storage space'.
I'm tested this on marshmallow ROMs and it works fine there, but it hasn't worked when I've been on Nougat. I've also tried multiple Nougat ROMs already so I don't think it is a nightly bug.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to move the apps? The only workaround right now is to format the microSD card as portable, install the apps that got uninstalled so that they are on the internal storage, and then format the sd card as internal again. However, i would greatly appreciate if there was another method that doesn't involve this since it takes a while to do.
Cheers!!
