Hello, i was just wondering.
Is there anyway to get Google 4.2 camera and Samsung note 2 camera at the same time?
I like the panorama and Photosphere from Google camera (and the circular autofocus ring looks cool )
but i like the best shoot, smiley face and many other features from the samsung stock camera. ( really do)
So is there anyway yet to install two of these cameras at the same time?
or add those features together?
I read some forum posts and do a little research, everybody says flash it/replace it.
( I run a custom rom with touchwiz and other samsung stuff on it)
Which ROM are you on? Yes you can have both of you don't want to delete the tw camera take your 4.2 camera and manually put the apps and libs where they go and reboot.

Jelly Bean's Rom will allow you to do this.

If you try this, be sure to back your current camera.apk (and odex if it exists) up before you do.

Please advise if this works I would also like stock ics camera

UtI tried it went to install but it wouldent install probably because its direct from the nexus I had to go back to the slow shutter stock cam but we still have 8mp lol
I was under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that the no shutter lag was hardware related as well as software. My S2 has 4.0.3 and still delays when I take a picture.

Is there a way to write script or build prop to get the flash of the 4.2 camera working on a custom tw rom? Ive read, searched and tried different permissions for cameras but the 4.2 camera only seems to work on 4.2 aosp custom roms which in turn you lose tw functionality. Amy help or suggestions?

If I understand correctly, you're asking how to use flash without crashing under the 4.2 AOSP camera app, while using a TouchWiz ROM...
Why? The TouchWiz camera app is tailor suited for this very device and thus provides the absolute best results and control over the camera. Being on a TouchWiz ROM means you should absolutely only use the TouchWiz camera app, unless you need to do a Photosphere in which case you use the AOSP one.

I enjoy the simple interface on the 4.2 and it seems that it should be fixable as it is same device. As in... it works with flash correctly if using aosp rom...but with tw rom with aosp mods. The camera fc's if using flash..i was just seeking a possibility to fix this, i guess if it was that easy it would already be baked in?

Pretty much. I have been waiting for this since the 4.2 camera came out and there hasn't been a fix. Some people have no issue whatsoever using it with flash but it's somewhat rare on TW roms. If it was an easy fix you can be sure it would have already been baked in.

I have tried many of the 4.2.2 ROMs on here and they all have the same bug with the camera touch to focus whilst using flash.
Is this something that is inherent in all the 4.2.2 custom ROMs.
Or are there any that the camera flash works properly on
Thanks
Garry

So, if you want a solution to the camera stuff and if you can survive without 1080p recording, flash the huawei camera app.
download Gallery ICS from the playstore and move it to system/app.
Delete the Gallery2.apk from system/app.
70% of a solution.
Is 4.2.2 a finished release or just a leaked test beta ???
jje
I think its a CM 10 ground up development and not based on any samsung release or leak
4.2.2 is whats stock on my nexus 7.
The 4.2.2 roms work great on my sg3. Apart from the camera which i use alot having a little one.
Im now using android revoloution Hd based on stock 4.2.1 which brilliant. But I miss the look and feel of 4.2.2

I'm rooting my Verizon Galaxy S4 (16g) with Cyanogenmod but only thing that stops me right now is the camera. The camera on the phone works great with Samsung's camera software. But since I'm moving on from Touchwiz to Cyanogenmod, I'm curious if there is any way to keep the Samsung's camera app on a custom rom. Thank you.
Unfortunately the Samsung Camera App requires the Touchwiz framework. It doesn't work on AOSP roms. You can try the Eclipse rom. It has that AOSP look and feel but is touchwiz based so it has the Samsung Camera app on it. The dialer, settings, contacts, and notification panels are all AOSP.

You can only use it on a TW rom. It hooks into proprietary TW framework that we can't get source code for to port to AOSP.
If you use a GPE rom, such as the one by Danvdh, it's a little different. Since these are built on the GPE device base they're still AOSP roms but they use Samsung drivers for the camera. It's still as not as good as the full TW camera, but with a third party app (Google's camera still sucks) it's the best camera experience you'll get on AOSP on this phone.

All very true.. Have you used that Lenovo Super Camera??? I thougt it was really cool, comparable to the Wiz Camera, just depending on which version you found it either required all sorts of permissions/libraries . if we could scrounge up just an easy to install... No permissions Lenovo that'd be cool

Yeah I tried it right when it got pulled from that Intel phone Lenovo came out with, I've never been much of a camera aficionado though. I thought the gallery app was really cool but a lot of Chinese all over the place lol.
