(Q) NFC and Android Beam - AT&T LG Optimus G

Does our phone support sharing photos using android beam? My wife just got a jb update on her One X and I have tried to share photos with her using beam and every time we try it we get a error on her phone saying that my lg does not support large file transfers. The pictures are under 1mb in size so I didn't know if we could use this feature or not. I am running stock and yes I have tried searching and I can't come up with anything.

I just tested it with CM 10.1 and worked with a 5mb test file transfer, so it must be something with stock rom.
Anyway notice that NFC max transfer speed is 424 kbit/s, so it is not a very good way to transfer files. Use bluetooth instead.

Photo sharing is part of jelly bean and not supported on its as far as I know

Thanks guys for replying. It isn't a big deal, it was just a annoying issue that I couldn't get figured out.

ChatOn Samsung Messenger

So there is this awesome chatting application that will be / already is cross-platform. But it isn't compatible with our Atrix's.
Any one know why? Just the screen res? Any chance of hacking an APK file to make it work?
I downloaded an apk because it said it wasn't available in my country and it works perfectly fine. kinda confused as to why it would say incompatible in the first place.
I'm running it on my atrix and it works really well.
How is this different/better than something like Kik that is also cross platform?

Well i never realized that the Atrix 4G was really made by Samsung, not by Motorola, until I read this thread and that link.
Admins, remove thread from Atrix 4G and place in correct device thread.

Thanks but it does not seem uploading video well.
I am still having the same problem. MOTO tech suggests to hard reset the phone. Before I do this, I would like to know if others have the same problem uploading video to picasa over wifi. Thanks.
Just tried PicasaVidUp lite from the market
Worked great.
Have you tried a different WiFi connection a free hot spot.
Thanks. The app seems do the trick with no error.

same here, it force closes after using whatever camera app (I used stock camera and Camera 360, both resulted to FCs). I'm suspecting that it's a ROM compatibility issue. Haven't tried it yet. I'm on MotoGinger II.
Anyone else having same problems on other ROMs?
it worked like charm for me
currently on GB 2.3.6 CM 7.1

Looking for solution for a 2nd "user"

Hello,
My son loves playing on my phone as well as my wife's. Issue is he's two and a half years old....
Needless to say you'll find new apps installed via ads in games, random messages sent to people, things moved and or deleted. We've since put locks on our phones but that's not really a solution as then you need to unlock it for him and he still has full access to everything (last time my wife found out she had 20 new friend requests on Facebook lol)
My question is.. is there eight a good home launcher that you can make a second user with limited app access (only ones you selected to allow) or a ROM with a similar feature built in that works with galaxy s devices (mines a gt-i9000t and hers is a vzw fascinate)
Or, any other app suggestions that default to a kid mode unless you unlock/exit the app to get full access to the device?
Mine is currently running aokp, hers is on the stock vzw firmware but I have no problem doing a rom and/or rooting if required.
Thanks!

Okay, on further searching I saw an app name perfect applock or something along those lines mentioned, will be giving that a try

4.1 was also found to have some code for 'user' logins as well (so in sometime this wiml hopefully be supported in an official capacity)
sent from LG optimus s (republic wireless) on tapatalk
Set up a second launcher just for him and put the apps he can use on the desktop and delete the shortcut for the app drawer
You can also set up a pin to download from the play store now i think.

Android Beam in gallery

It was quite embarrassing when I tried to send a picture to a galaxy nexus through the gallery with Nfc and found out that it only works with s beam. I can receive from the nexus but I can't send. I understand s beam is faster but why doesn't Samsung support android beam in gallery? That's where it's mostly going to be used. S beam is quite useless, only a small part of android phones support Nfc and even less support s beam! Is there a way to fix this on stock roms? There really isn't any benefit in locking down this technology.

It does not work. Works for everything else, but not gallery. Maybe it's because I'm on jelly bean leak. But I remember trying on ics too.

Then it's time for a full wipe, I probably messed up something somewhere! Thanks for your help!
It still won't work. I fully wiped to install new official jb. But I still can't transfer pictures to the galaxy nexus.
The other phone has to have s beam (e.g another gs3)

I just transferred to my nexus 7 via Android beam. S beam was off. Worked fine.

What rom are you using?
Apparently this is a common issue with transfering from the s3 gallery, I did a google search and found a few people reporting the same problem. It's odd that it works with the nexus 7. I'm going to try with a third party app later.
Stock.. Lh1..
