[Q] DROID RAZR Jelly Bean Update Causing Widgets Not to Work - Motorola Droid RAZR

I received the Jelly Bean update for the original DROID RAZR and now my Favorite Contacts Widget is not showing pictures for the contacts unless they have a picture in GMail. I have tried removing the widgets bar and then readding it and it still won't show any non-GMail pictures. My ESPN ScoreCenter app also crashes. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall the ESPN app to no avail.
Any help getting these two items working would be greatly appreciated.

I am also having the problem of no contact pictures showing up in the Favorite Contacts Widget after updating to JB. The contact pictures are present in the people directory though. Annoying. Maybe there should be beta tests using real people who use their phone a lot to avoid these types of issues.

I too had this issue. Until it is resolved, I downloaded the free "Contact Picture Sync" app. It will download the Facebook image and set it as the contact picture. It is a little buggy, but did the trick. Good work-around until Motorola fixes the issue.

GO SMS Contact Picture issue

anyone else here use go sms? i can't figure out why, but for the contact pictures, it's pulling everyones picture from their google picture i have on there (which was from syncmypix like MONTHS ago, so they're all outdated)
i have checked "pull pictures from facebook" and have checked email, name and number..and it doesn't work. this worked correctly on my incredible, and it was able to pull their facebook images in gosms fine...won't work with the rezound.
anyone else have any insight? i'm wondering if it's because they got rid of Facebook for HTC Sense and only use the facebook app for syncing now :\
Mine has Display Facebook avatars checked and I have it Match by Name. It seems to prefer facebook avatars over what are in my google contacts. Not sure if any of that helps you :/
wtf mines opposite, it shows google pics over facebook, which is really annoying lol
Mines the same, if I have any Google photos, it shows those instead of Facebook. Where as it shows Facebook on GO Contacts. No matter how I configure the settings. It's weird. Lol.
I had this same issue. What I found out, is the official Facebook app does not support access to the friend photos by third party apps. That's why it uses the google contact photo instead.
The older phones had Facebook for HTC Sense, that obviously is not the official facebook app so it allowed third party access to the photos. I have run into the same issue with SMS popup. Try using Friend Caster to sync facebook photos to your contacts, that'll allow third party apps to access the photos.
I just deleted google photos and it defaulted to the Facebook ones

i cant confirm this works but i have heard it works..

guys, great responses!
i didn't know friendcaster replaced facebook in terms of contact pics..i tried using it once and didn't really like it's UI.
as for that script, i'm going to run that tomorrow. i'm perm rooted, so he says you should just be able to push some lines of code to get it to work. great find, guys!!
I'm a huge fan of GoSMS, its definitely the best out of the third party sms apps on the Android market!
Handcent on the other hand seems to display up to date contact pictures. Which does it take from though, Google contacts or the Facebook app?
So basically GoSMS previously synced pictures from HTC Sense's Facebook, but now in Sense 3.5 it no longer exists being replaced by the offical Facebook app which doesn't allow access by 3rd party apps :/

I know this thread has been quiet for a couple weeks, but just wanted to confirm that did indeed do the trick. I use Handcent normally, but I did download Go SMS real quick to test and that showed my contact pictures again too.

Handcent sms with ics?

It's not sowing Facebook pictures or Facebook contacts in handcent, and i don't looker the stock one, and this is a problem. Anyone have this problem and possibly a solution? anda
same problem
I'm running a moto RAZR on the ICS leak, rooted... I can't get Facebook profile pictures to reflect in hand cent... It will in the contacts/phone app, but not hand cent... Please help!

ICS contact photos problem

So strange problem, I'm using the HTC contact book and it will only show photos from FB, not google or anything else. On the other hand Handcent will show anything other than FB pictures so it's impossible to get both to work at the same time.
I'm running KingCobra3D-ICS, I didn't have this problem in GB.
I have the exact same issue. With all the ICS based ROM's many of the photo icons show. Furthermore it is with the default HTC contact book and also with "exDialer & Contacts" in the Google Play as well.
Hope someone sees this post and can recommend a fix.

If I use exDialer & Contacts, I'm fine since it uses the same images as Handcent. It's just if I want to use the stock contact app.
install friendcaster and sync pics register it with/in your contacts
log out/uninstall facebook, its fuggling it up
Fix is here

Why not all my contacts have their FB photo?

Hi everybody,
Previously, I had an HTC Desire HD and when I installed the FB application, all my contacts got synced and the ones without photo started to have the FB photo.
Now on my SG3, just for a few of them appeared the FB photo, however, ALL of them are synced with facebook. I tried to enter on the profile of the person already, restarted the phone, sync, sync all contacts, but some of them just doesn't get the photo (and the name on FB is the same of the contact).
Does any one knows why that happens?
Nobody else with that problem?
Does the contacts of everybody always get the correct pictures from facebook? Or you guys don't use this feature?
Haxsync from Google play does that for you.
Yes, I looked that other applications can do that.
But I wonder if my Galaxy S3 has a problem on it. Because with my HTC DHD it used to work 100%.
Funny, everyone on mine since flawlessly. Only annoyance was when I ticked 'sync with existing contacts ' it synced my friends list with all their email addresses. Just tick display those with phone numbers and it's sorted but it's not perfect at any rate

HTC DHD was in Gingerbread version and facebook official app work pretty well, but devices with Ice Cream sandwich have got lot of problem with official facebook application, one way in order to resolve problem is download from the market a 3rd part applicazion like FriendCaster, it work well with 4.0.x android and also with my nexus one with 4.0.x custom rom =)
I'm not sure if this is what you mean but mine was showing old contact Facebook pictures with the little F in the corner. I had to open each contact, press connections and add the Facebook account. It's been fine since.

Haxsync also doesnt work for me.
The official facebook app for android has really bad syncing, use friendcaster, also has option to save high res pics for contacts.
I do have the same problem. No facebook app, just the sync with facebook option in the contacts account settings. Only a few facebook friends got their profile pictures displayed in contacts.
Maybe something to do with their privacy settings?
I had this too. It's the Facebook app sync feature being ****. Open Facebook and go to your contacts in there and it will refresh their pics and that in turns refreshes your contacts.

Yeah I bought Haxsync, such a waste of money. Are there any 3rd party apps that sync phone numbers from facebook?
HaxSync is mainly for AOSP based ROMs like CM9 and AOKP. Works perfectly on those and loads excellent high quality photos. It doesn't work with Sense 4 ICS devices like the HTC One series. I don't know if it works with TouchWiz ROMs. It'll work perfectly on any ROM with the vanilla Android UI and People app.
HTC devices have Facebook for HTC Sense, which is integrated with the Facebook app. When you sign into the Facebook app, Facebook for HTC Sense links your contacts and downloads reasonably okay quality pictures for them, and also syncs their status, photos and all that. No idea if TouchWiz has a similar feature, but maybe that's why you're not having the same experience you had with HTC Facebook sync.
Though with any ROM, just signing into the Facebook and choosing 'sync all contacts' or 'sync existing contacts' will download profile pictures for the contacts that it can sync, especially if the name matches exactly or you have added email addresses for your contacts. That's the reason only a few contacts got their pictures synced, because maybe they were under a different name than their Facebook name. But in my opinion the Facebook sync is crap, because the pictures it downloads look like 8-bit graphics.

Could Facebook's time line pictures be the problem? instead of people having portrait sized photos, they now have massive landscape pictures?
just a thought
I don't think so, because the Facebook app doesn't sync the cover photo. It syncs the little square profile picture photo, so it won't be any different from before because of the timeline.

I just got my RAZR MAXX yesterday and miss this app.
It contained all of my email accounts and SMS icon. It showed which ones had new emails, etc. All I can find on ICS is basically a unified inbox widget of the actual messages.
Anyone know of an app to do something similar to the old Messaging App? I have looked in the play store but don't find anything similar.
OR, preferably, does anyone know of what the APK was called so I can try to find it and install it? I really miss this feature. My luck is it is going to be a system feature.
they could have taken ANYTHING else out of ICS but I wish they would have left the UNIVERSAL MESSAGING WIDGET alone ..... I MISS IT TOO

I wish I had the knowledge to extract or find the apk. But I am sure it is a system app and built in.
You should see the chat log I had with Motorola on this issue. And if it was available in ICS anywhere.
It basically ended with them responding that this "Is a new feature added when they went from Gingerbread to ICS!" LOL I said IT IS MISSING, NOT ADDED you DUMBASS!!!
My work around it's by stacking text, emails and my im together on home screen.. Not as good but will do for now.

Can you elaborate and post a screen shot?
The closest thing I can find just for email, is when you click the email icon it usually opens to the last inbox. At the top is an email icon, and it says Inbox and which email account. If you click Inbox, it gives you a dropdown with a list of your email accounts and the number of unread messages plus the option to create combined inbox. You can switch email accounts there. But I would still like them to all show like in a folder without having to click the dropdown. There is also a 1 x 1 email widget that you can set to a specific account. Do one for each account. Then those can be combined into a folder, but you don't get the number of unread emails superimposed on the account icon like the old app.
