Socsk5? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way i can use socks5 on SGS3 without rooting it?
There are number of great apps like ProxyDroid, etc, but all of them req. to root my device..

Wrong section! Look for help in Q&A or Themes&Apps Sections.... ask mod to move it...

+1 for DroidWall. It has the added benefit of blocking ads in a particular app if you decide to not allow it access to the network.
However, I should say that it doesn't EXACTLY do what you are asking. It allows you control as to what apps may or may not access the network, either via 3g, WiFi, or both. As far as I know, it doesn't tell you when one of the apps you allow access to the network actually does.
If you want something that asks you to allow/deny, try this
ps this was the 3rd result for android firewall, the first 2 being droid wall, just saying everything is out there google and you shall find.
Edit: well it seems twitter brought the company behind whispermonitor and thus all the downloads have disappeared, I will try to find an apk.
Edit2: it seems that whispermonitor only worked on the nexus S and one other phone, shame it looked promising.
Your best bet is droid wall, there is also Pdroid but it needs a rom patch.
Thank you
Will try your recommend solution

Well i did some more reading about it, and its more of a whole rom/rom mod than an apk file and it was only compatible with the nexus S and Desire I think.
Droidwall is your best bet.
Avast firewall do better than droidwall, it really alert you if any apps trying to make an connection on yhe the background, but avast is big app that come with antivirus protection which seems to be useless for android os so far.

Running whatsapp through proxy ??

Well guys I live in hostel and in my college hostel we gave to use specific proxy and IP provided by them to each device for running wifi.
Well I have galaxy s2 i9100 with cm9.1.0 with siyah kernel 4.1.5.
I can run internet in my s2 with that college proxy , but there is problem that some of the apps does not rum through proxy.
Opera mobile does not run , in order to run it with proxy I have to put that proxy and port opera:config.
And other apps such as YouTube app , whatsapp ,tuneinradio , streaming through proxy does not work.
These apps does nit detect any proxy through wifi.
I tried installing first iptables and proxydroid and auto proxy and put the following proxy and port which I put in wifi network as 193.168.5.250
Port:808
Give the root permissions
And tried both of apps but none of app works through even trying this.
Previously I had galaxy 3 and I have tried auto proxy in that with cm7 and it works.
But I don't know how to make it working for gs2 ??
Any ideas and solutions would be appreciated..
Thanks

first of all, it's easier for you to use market enabler to unlock restricted content. thus, you can download anything from the play store.
but here, I did that for you, fresk apk.

[Q] SIII how to disable camera

hello all,
I am looking for app. or any other solution which disable the camera.
Does anyone have such a solution?
Thanks,
htako
You could use Titanium Backup to freeze your cammera app. (Although i suspect it would cause some future force-closes)
If you only want to prevent camera usage for a non-advanced user, you could just hide the camera icon, using samsungĀ“s touchwiz-embeded hide icons feature.
anyhow, why would someone want to disable their camera anyways?
Simple move or delete it from /system/app with something like Root Explorer...

As second poster said, freeze it, but it can be unfreezed...
But it's kinda pointless you do so from software, because other people can easily download and install another camera from play store... unless you can disable it under hardware level...

Use something like Root Explorer or similar file manger, navigate to /dev , there is a file named "exynos-mem" , long press it, choose permission, and uncheck all box
See screenshot
I DO HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND TAKE NOTE OF ITS PREVIOUS PERMISSION SETTING IN ORDER TO RESTORE CAMERA FUNCTION , OTHERWISE YOU WILL DISABLE YOUR CAMERA AND WON'T BE RECOVERED EVEN YOU FLASH NEW ROM UNLESS YOU CHANGE IT TO THE RIGHT PERMISSION. Do you familliar with apps that control camera dis/en?
the solution you recommended seems to be irreversible
It shouldn't be irreversible. Go back to the file long press and select the boxes same as last time.
You're only changing permissions, once back to how it was, this will bring the camera app back.

[Q] Using Sky Go on a rooted S3 with Cyanogen

I know there have been PLENTY of threads on xda trying to solve this and I've asked questions on the threads themselves and I'm yet to receive a reply. Can someone please give me a small guide (if possible ) how temp unroot.
1. Rootkeeper or any other app on the app store doesn't work when root is protected for me
2. SuperSU uninstall doesn't work for me
3. Flashing a zip to remove SuperSU and Busybox didn't work for me either.
There isn't a file with the name 'superuser.apk' that I could find.
Can anyone help with my predict? I really need to get this working before US Open

Sky Go is an application which allows people with a Sky subscription to watch TV on their devices, whether it be a tablet, phone or PC. I'm guessing u live outside the UK because Sky is quite popular here. As for the app, it is free, however you need an account to access it. Here's the link to it in the Play Store anyways.

I'm not sure if you can have a look at this without an account but let me know anyway buddy.
