Greets all!
Simple question. I love Google Search/Now (which I believe requires JB) and I love the Sense UI. Is there any way to get both on one rom?
Thanks in advance!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2065224 try that if your on a cdma evo3d. Its a WIP so dont expect it to be fully functional. Also if your partial to 4g or 3d cam/movies taking then dont bother. Anything other then sense 3.6 and its broken or any JB rom for that matter

Have you tried that? AFAIK there is nothing bootable posted in that thread yet.
Although technically Google Now requires JB, there are a number of Sense 3.6 ROM's available in the development forum that include a port of it that works with ICS. Check the OP's for the Sense 3.6 ROM's and I'm sure you will find several that do.

Indeed there isnt anything bootable hence the "Its a WIP so dont expect it to be fully functional" line Just thought id point him to something atleast, I dont know of any other JB + sense roms for the evo3d tho. :fingers-crossed:

Try this. This is what I run on Viper3D. Works fine.

Yea, that's the ICS port I was referencing.
There are a lot of downloads there but the one that's worked best for me with ICS Sense ROM's is mikeyxda's M7 online/offline version.
Of course, that's if you want to use it with an ICS Sense ROM that doesn't include it already.

LOL!
Yes, I would definitely consider booting successfully part of being fully functional.

THANKS ALL!! I didn't realize you can fo-naggle a form of Google Now onto ICS. Good to know! Also, I will check out the ROMs discussed, thanks for sharing!

Looks extremely underwhelming...
Better than I expected.
Via My HTC Evo 3D On The Now Network From Sprint.
Still looks horrible. =[
I think it looks terrible...nothing like ICS.
I'm Batman..
How is it "extremely underwhelming" ? Did you really expect a Sense-free release?! What were you expecting to get?
We are getting a major API revision and the long awaited HW acceleration.
This is far from underwhelming.
Its time for HTC to make sense OPTIONAL. Half of us switch to AOSP roms anyways. Looks like junk compared to stock ICS though.
Meh, boring, much rather prefer vanilla. On the plus side I guess it will help EVO 3D development.
It doesn't look much different from ginger bread with sense.
Guess whats getting ported today
I don't see the issue. It's updated, It's how HTC makes it, if It's not pretty, we theme it. If you don't like sense, then why comment? Obviously you're going to run cm9 or some other form of aosp.

for everyone complaining notice that its only sense 3.5, not 4.0 like they said would be part of their ics releases. probably because this is only a TEST BUILD

I am going to take a stab on the port as well. The download is painfully slow however
"Sense based ICS ROM." It wont be the real deal until HTC releases it themselves in my opinion. Also, just leave it alone Joelz.

It is not too hard to build an ASOP if we have a working rom
So how did they get this? j/w b/c this is the first pure leak ive seen for us since Sinper's site was shut down long long ago. EDIT: I guess Capy has a source inside HTC to an extent!! Wish we could get an EVO3D leaker to come out lol.
Also to the Sense 3.5 on it is a little confusing b/c it looks nothing like either of the other sense 3.5 phone builds out, the high power one nor the low end device one.
I agree it likely/HOPEFULLY is saying sense3.5 on it b/c they are not fully done with it yet.
Keep the Thread Clean Guy's or you will force me to lock it
So with the port I'm gonna say that 4g won't work?
I'm not too familiar with the reasons and the technical stuff. Why isn't there a reliable AOSP ROM for the Rezound? What is it exactly that makes it difficult to develop one?
The ril hasn't been completely worked out for any AOSP roms
It has to do with the way Google has implemented support for CDMA devices. Google doesn't officially support CDMA devices in the Android framework they provide, so its up to device manufacturers (HTC) to create the necessary support and add it in. Right now, the developers who make ROMs are probably tearing apart the recent HTC leaks looking for the bits and pieces they need to put an AOSP ROM together.
It is the LTE that is the problem. Basically any CDMA device can get AOSP no problem but our device has a very complicated radio. It supports CDMA+LTE+EVDO+GSM so it is pretty much hacked together by HTC themselves.
I tell you one thing. The first developer who provides a near perfect working of ICS AOSP is going to get $15 from me.

Not that I know anything about this subject, how did the Thunderbolt get it solved in the end?
the non-Sense development has been disappointing so far, no AOSP and no MIUI....I think the people talking about the ril have it right, if it was LTE that was the problem we'd have AOSP roms out that don't have working LTE like some other phones do

Not sure but it was easier for the bolt cause s-off.
So is it right to assume that if we get full s-off then comes AOSP?
What exactly is s-off?

it's possible but can't really be proven since we literally have full access with the exception to the actual radios when flashing. devs can already view radios to iron out the issues. it's just tricky to solve a scattered puzzle
S-OFF has NOTHING I repeat NOTHING to do with AOSP. The TBOLT had more people working on it and the RIL isn't probably as complicated. They still don't have AOSP ICS working either.
Any developers actively working on this? What would it take for CM to start? Do they need the RIL figured out?

There is an active CM9 Alpha thread in the dev section with updates on where it is.
It looks like some progress is being made with MIUI for Rezound. Seems to be some issues, but I thought it was worth sharing. Check this twitter for progress:

Pfff I forgot it was even being worked in
wow i thougth miui was a no go for the rezound. Keep us posted i loved miui on my incredible.

Yeah I'm excited for it too. Apparently it has RIL intact (at least the guy working on it thinks it does), and if this is true, I bet it would really help the RIL issues on AOSP ROMs (like CM9 hopefully)

RIL is the Radio Interface Layer. It's basically the phone and data portion of the software, so without a working RIL, you do not get data and you can't send texts or make phone calls. They've had a rough time getting it to work on ROMs without Sense (completely without Sense, not desensed to look like it is), but hopefully this changes soon.
I was starting to think he quit building miui for us. He's always tweeting about the thunderbolt and nexus.

He's been working on it recently. Someone who was helping him says that the issue now is finding a good kernel, and that none of the AOSP ones work well with the ROM. Hopefully he sticks with it and we get MIUI (and other AOSP ROMs) soon.
I'm not a big fan of MIUI, but I'm glad it's being worked on. The bigger the variety the better I say.
does seem its getting close, I can't wait, I love MIUI, and we need more options than just Sense roms
This will for sure give us cm9 as well. Im stoked!
Any progress is progress at this point. As much as Sense is as sleek as ever I just want that screaming speed you get from aosp.
I'm so ready for miui or sense 4.0 I can't stand thinking about it lol. Soooo bored with.gingerbread sense
I loved Miui on the Inc, even though it did kinda cripple the video camera. The customizability was unmatched.

I'll sum up what I know about the current issues for the Rezound and non-Sense ROMs. Correct me if I'm wrong but...
The problem most developers are having with AOSP ROMs is with the RIL, or Radio Interface Layer. Vicious claims to have this working on MIUI, but does not have a good kernel for the ROM. So when HTC releases the kernel source for ICS (like they just did for the Sensation and Vivid), it should give developers a lot more to work with to make good kernels for AOSP ROMs and MIUI.
The question I have is whether or not a working RIL for MIUI really does mean it would also work for AOSP ROMs like CM9, or at least with minor changes. Also, (if they can't get the kernel to work without the source) once the ICS kernel source is released by HTC, would it speed up the problems that people are having with their kernels on non-Sense ROMs like MIUI? Or would it still pose a big problem because it is made for Sense?
Yes we need a custom aosp kernel. From what ive heard both IMO & aeroevan might be interested in helping us out.
hi
after I just put the ViperS (S3)-based JB4.1.1 w/ Sense 4+ ... for HTC Sensations on the HTC SensationXE of my gf, I was wondering why there isn't any cross-patched ViperLTE build for our Dinc4G device using the S4-version of the OneS as a base?
I mean, if it has been done for the Sensation-line, which also is S3-based since there isn't any official JB build ... why "they" (Viper ^^) didn't try to re-base the OneS S4-roms (with JB4.1.1 & Sense4+) for our Dinc4G ... i also remember that ViperLTE 2.x.x also ALREADY had bootanimations from the HTC One-Series! so it _was already_ partially based on the ICS code of the S4 OneS, wasn't it?
thanks for your insides
PS: srry if that had already been discussed, but i didn't see it so far. i love the performance of the JB4.1.1 on the SensationXE and the gallery etc improvements from Sense4+ are also very nice ... so why not ask for the same "style" of a cross-based OneS S4-build ^^
PPS: i know we are supposed to receive a JB4.2.x Sense5 at "some point" in some "possible version of our future" ^^ ... but we all know that waiting until an _unknown_ point of time in the future is very hard xD (and i dun like the Sense5-looks too much anyhow)
330 views and not a single reply? i guess that means ... a (big??) NO!!, right!?
oh well, a bit of a pity but okay. i kinda expected a zero-reply ... maybe i give it a try myself. i know linux quite well, but as i have absolutely no background in android-coding, i doubt it'll work out ... and no, if it works somehow (in booting at all i mean :cyclops ... i will still pay due respect to the wishes of the original venom-coders and definately _not post anything_ containing their code!
I just want to find out if it works. i know we have the JB4.1.1 "Infernal 0.7beta"-ROM, but i also kind of like the venom-addons, that's why i want to give it a try if no one else does. (using jose's Sense4+ kernel i think, as it's the only Sense4+ kernel we have :laugh ... it's just that EVERYONE seems to be updating to the looks of _Sense5_ and even adding ported Sense5-apps, but I just do not like their looks compared to Sense4*, srry ^^; ... but IF it does boot, I'll let you know at least the binary answer of YES vs NO. :highfive:
thanks for reading.

okay, so if they don't ... "decide" ... to port it on their own -> it just won't happen. oh, well. still a bit of a pity as they ported this/these 4.1.1/Sense4+ roms to other/similar HTC phones. just our Dinc4G doesn't seem to be that lucky
The reason behind it not being ported is that Justin does not want to. He said he would update viper if our phone ever got an official HTC update.

Hello, people, I'm getting a new Evo 3d (x515m GSM), maybe a bad choice this times, but still I love to see some of the 3D (closed?)tecnology.
Since it's old and may be forgotten, I just want to know what's the last ROM you use or at least a reccomended one with full 3d functionality.
I'm ready to wreck my brain to search how to root, s-off, and all of the things needed, still don't wanna mess too much with the ROM if we could have a nice one working from the beggining. :silly:
Thanks a lot for your time, and hope you can help me! :good:
PD: saw some threads but they call android 2.3.x versions, I wanna get ICS or better if there's the chance.

I am on the cdma version so can't recommend any Rom by name but for reference only time based on HTC's will have full 3d. If your not a sense fan try Miui has an ice version built on sense 3.6 so all 3d functions work. Also there is Yet Another sense 4.1 that has working 3d and I believe there gsm version works real well.

Basicaly all sense 3.6 ROMs have full 3d functionality and they are all ICS. So just go to Evo 3d gsm development and choose
Thanks a lot for your help!, now I'm looking between "Yet Another sense 4.1", "cool sense" and "next-gen rom", some of them even got some cpu/gpu tweaks to boost it a little bit.
