I have a international i9300 procured from USA.
It got a new microsim to try on the phone but it did not detect it.
Also, I flashed latest CyanogenMod nightly till the SIM got activated.
No show, no SIM detected.
Strangely same SIM was detected fine on a friend's iPhone.
Friend's hand cut MicroSIM was detected fine on my phone.
So, I restored original office stock Samsung ROM using Odin.
Still it shows no SIM card detected.
I have changed 3 sims to get this working but alas no luck.
Tried flashing atleast 5 baseband radios, again no luck.
efs folder is intact. IMEI number and Serial number are fine. So that cannot be a problem.
Did anyone ever face this problem? Googling did not help even after trying all the suggestions.
Can someone help me understand what I am doing wrong here?
What should I be looking at?
Thanks,
Are you sure it's an international version?....if so, has it been unlocked or was it factory unlocked?
Do you and your friend have your SIM cards from the same carrier?
[SOLVED]
So it took some closer observation in figuring out that one of the SIM module pins was bent. This resulted in poor contact between SIM and the module. Thus the no SIM card error.
I used a LED flashlight and a sewing needle to pull it up enough at same level as rest of the 2 pins.
Works now!
If anyone faces this issue even after changing lot of baseband radios and ROMs. Look first at your SIM module contacts. They should be slightly raised and at one level. Do not panic to order a replacement module.
Use a high intensity light, a magnifying glass , a needle and steady hands to pull the pressed or bent contact up. There you go, it should work.
Thanks,

Hi there.
I need help with my Hero.
Two weeks ago it got water damaged. I dried it out, and got it all working again (this surprised me), but then on Thursday it stopped connecting to my network (T-Mob UK), giving a Your SIM does not allow connections to this network error.
Now, the radio works as far as I can tell - I can connect to Wi-Fi fine, and when I go to chose your network section it shows me T-Mob, Orange, O2 and Vodafone, so I think the GSM etc. radios are working.
I've tried putting it in my old SE handset, but that has a ****ed Radio, so not got anything conclusive. But it has received messages, so I'm not sure if it is the sim directly at fault.
I've also tried to use an O2 sim in the hero (unlocked) to no luck.
So I would guess its something wrong with the connection between the sim slot, and the sim, or between the slot and the main-board.
But is there anything I can do to test this? Any recommendations for repairs?
Thanks

If it is definitely the phone and not the Sim, you would be best off getting it professionally acid bathed or what ever a phone shop suggests, the back street unlocking ones would normally do it for £15 and that should sort any oxidized solder joints out that could be causing the issue.
If you want to do it your self then take all the screen and bits off your self, lay the main board in ethanol for 12 hours then let it drip dry, give it a gentle buff with a cotton bud and re try! This is just a suggestion so don't go blaming me when you phone explodes!!
Does anybody know how to fix this "error" message or why it shows up? I can't use the phone... as a phone!
I have the same issue. Even when I insert sim It says "no sim". I checked the phone lock status. But It's all unlocked. Please guys help us...........
Yesterday i had this problem too but today morning when i restarted my phone I got my phone registered to network seems like a carrier related issue. Try formatting your phone. And i also noticed that when the sim card was not placed correctly it showed me No sim card( i cut my sim using a scissor). So try placing your sim perfectly or try formatting your phone.

Hole volume up + middle key and switch on your phone. Your phone will get you into recovery mode from that menu using the volume rocker keys select format option and your phone will be hard reseted.

You can find more info about how to cut the sim here:

I had similar problems when my phone was delivered on Tuesday - cut my (Orange) SIM down to size, it worked for a while, then no network. Took it to an Orange shop, they tried their microSIMs, none worked. Arranged to have the phone replaced, but had another last play, and then my cut SIM in it started working - it would lose service intermittently, but eventually it was, and is, stable.
Mine has intermittent reception issues, ie dropping to emergency only every so often. My phone was sim-free so I figured it was because it lacks vodafone's customization.
I also cut my sim, maybe its an issue of it moving about slightly causing interrupts.

Guys i had the same problem, theres a solution in my thread that i didnt try cause i managed to get the faulty phone replaced but u's should try it and see if it works

It seems that nobody knows exactly what is the fault, the part with the sim cut wrong ( it cannot be )... I have tried 2 different micro sim (factory cut) and still no difference... now I'm using my homemade the micro sim in my Galaxy S2 (without any adapters) and works perfect ( even moved around )... The Galaxy S3 is still not working! After checking with one of the guys from Phones4U, he told me that it can be a fault (hardware or software)... the best way to fix it... is replace the phone! I did not try any of the fixes from here ( so I will not make any changes to the phone - needed for the replacement - warranty )... if anyone has a good fix for this, just post it here for other people who are facing the same problem, thank you!
Your symptoms and what you've tried sounds so similar to what I had on Tuesday, also on Orange.
The guy in the Orange shop suggested to me that you'd see the same symptoms if the IMEI is reported as being lost/stolen - obviously my phone was brand new out of a sealed box, from Amazon, so this was unlikely, but it's an interesting thought if yours was second hand?
Have you managed to connect the phone via Wifi, and perform an update? This is what I did, on the off-chance it might help, as there was an update waiting. My phone did then intermittently connect to the mobile network, and gradually got more stable. It's fine now. Worth a try if you haven't already?
If your SIM card is not recognized, try this

Well, I got this problem too. And I found out that you have to push the card with a sharp object to the far left (when holding the phone with the SIM slot downwards, I shot it from the the opposite angle because of the light) inside the SIM slot for the phone to recognize your own made micro SIM. I used the SIM pin from a iPhone 4S, but I also tried with a needle and scissors, and they all worked fine.
As you can see in the picture, theres a "pin" sticking out the right (when holding the phone as described above the pin will be on the left side) Make sure that the pin "sticks out" as showed in the photo. It seems that if that pin isn't sticking out, the phone will not recognize that a SIM is inserted. I was trying for over an hour, and then I tried this and it worked at the first try.
Good advice, mistwalker, I also wondered if it was anything to do with whether it 'clicks' into position in the slot. Mine works now, so I'm not touching it again!
It has happened twice for me that it says it's not registered on network, both times i've held the power button down and deactivated the network then activated it again and it's been working.

Thank you for the advice, I have tried all so far... even updating the phone, in the last 2 hours I got stuck changing the position of the sim... I tried also a different sim... and same message comes on the screen! I will send it back to the seller and get a refund for it... the "funny" part is that I have moved the "micro sim" from S2 to S3 a few times, and the S2 has never let me down... with no micro sim adapter on it!
I think Galaxy S2 is still one of the best phones on the market... it is not so fragile as S3... and this is my second S3... the first one had to be replaced because a small accident (screen cracked after a bump in the wall)... and the bump was a light one. I admit is faster (like a "rocket"), but the "new" screen - gorilla glass 2 is fragile (like an egg)
Does anyone know how to check if the phone (IMEI) is on the blacklist? Maybe this is the "fault" from my S3... :cyclops:
Hi,
Recently, my canadian galaxy note stopped reading all sim cards. Ive tried flashing various roms but still nothing. All I get is the insert sim card icon in the task bar.
There are tonnes of threads regarding the international version, but i was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Just had this problem. If avail swap out sim cards with a known working card and if it still fails to register, the phone needs to be replaced.
Just happened to me yesterday and got a new phone today!
Hope this helps!
I am currently having the same problem with my ATT Note, but I am sending it to samsung to get fixed or replaced under samsung's warranty.
First check if your note has a an imei number. Go to settings about. There's also a # shortcut but I don't recall what it is. If not efs got corrupted some how. If you did the shortcut key if efs is corrupted it should display null/null. (I've got a captivate with this problem)
Sometimes it's a bad sim contact. Just by a worn out sim card, its happened to me. Clean off the contacts or get another sim card provisioned. Costs $6 for a new Rogers sim provisioning is free.
Ok u flashed a rom and have No SIM inserted or no service or that kind of error.I found this fix trying out things for myself.Take out your SIM card ,turn on airplane mode, reinsert it and turn off your phone(not reboot but power off).Wait for 1 minute and power it back on.Tada!Should be fixed!:fingers-crossed:
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I was worried I was going to have to try one of the more complicated fixes I've seen here. I was puzzled because after performing Joseph230's procedure to root and "convert" an S4 from AT&T to T-Mobile (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/convert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719) everything seemed fine and I reinstalled all my apps. Then, I get the "No SIM inserted" error out of nowhere!
After much researching I was losing hope of finding a fix guaranteed to work. Then I found your post and it worked like a charm! :highfive:
robermaldo
Thank You
Im so glad that this worked because I was losing hope that my imei or something was broken and I git scared then I found this and it actually worked I thought it was because 5.1.1 or something anyways thanks for the help I actually loged in my XDA account just to post that cause I just always use the browser
A coworker brought me his G2 that I have taken apart to fix many times before because it was having problems charging and turning on (black screen; rhythmic buzz from the vibration motor). I worked around that to get it booted temporarily but then the SIM connection seemed to suddenly fail. I replaced the motherboard entirely because some charge/power issues persisted and everything works perfectly EXCEPT that the replacement also doesn't see the SIM. Both are running stock LG Verizon Lollipop (assumed installed by OTA). No one was playing around with alternate ROMs or anything. None of the fixes in this thread help. The SIM slot is on the board so I hesitate to assume that the charge, mic, headphone flex PCB has something to do with it, but it is the only major common component (even replaced the screen again along with the battery, speaker, etc while leaving out useless components). Any suggestions?
Long version:
After a previous screen replacement it would only buzz when attempting to turn on or buzz repeatedly when attempting to charge until I loosened the black screw near the battery connector. I definitely narrowed it down to that particular screw, though I still couldn't say why (the previous tech who replaced the screen may have shorted the battery terminal near there). When he brought it back to me it was doing the same thing again even with the screw completely removed. Within minutes I had it booting just by poking around. Not sure what I did but I had to take it apart and poke around again to get it to come on after making the mistake of turning it off (went right back to buzzing). I'm pretty sure that the SIM card worked because he received a couple text messages when I first got it turned on (phone hadn't been booted in a day). After getting it to turn on I had to leave it on while reassembling, so I put the SIM tray back in when I was done. The owner was watching and asked why the status bar showed an "X" on the signal strength, so I told him that it was because you had to reboot after reinserting a SIM on most Android devices (as opposed to dual-SIM and iPhone devices). Though I couldn't turn off without causing the power problem, I could safely restart. Unfortunately, restarting only gave me the "Insert SIM" message at boot and nothing I could do would get it to see the inserted SIM. I tried many SIM cards but none worked. I replaced the motherboard expecting it to be a solution to both problems but only the power problems went away. The SIM card issue remained even though the SIM slot is built into the part I replaced and the part I purchased is supposed to be guaranteed, tested, clean IMEI, etc. I'm at a loss. I've taken out every unrelated component and replaced the screen again and replaced the battery so about the only thing that is common is the flex PCB with the mic, headphone jack, display connectors, etc running through it. Not sure how that could be a factor, but I'm replacing it too. In the mean time, does anyone have any suggestions for what could be wrong?
Update: A new mic/USB/headphone flex PCB fixed it. I'm not sure how that can cause the SIM card to not be detected, but I conclusively tested and that was definitely the problematic component: No SIM card detected on either motherboard with the old flex PCB, SIM card detected fine on both motherboards with the replacement flex PCB.

Hello, is your LG G2 still working with the new PCB flex?
Thanks a lot, this solution worked for me ?
i've done flash rom on Mtv Slash 3G 512 RAM Tablet, but no sim detected ....& i've followed your suggestion but no solution made...!!!
I had spent more than one month using CM13 based ROM thinking its ROM based issue. but this resolved the issue.
But now no sim issue has been resolved yet no mobile signals are working...
I have a vs980 or the Verizon lg g2. It bought it unlocked and I use T-Mobile. The data worked when I was on the stock os. I then got cm13 and everything worked good accept it wouldnt see my sim card or it would say no signal. And it had no info on the sim card in the about phone settings. So I tried a few other nightlys and nothing worked. I went down to cm12 and still I got the same error. I tried what you said here multiple times and it doesn't seem to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I found a fix! Go into settings and select Mobile networks. When your in there there should be a "preferred network type" change that to global and there you go. Now I couldn't get that to work on cm13 because the settings would crash when you try to go into mobile networks. But I got it to work on cm12 just fine
dear sir. THANKS!!!
I've spent the last three weeks dealing with various radio bugs and issues, clearing preferences, wiping caches, factory resetting, and installing clean ROMs. All it took is to set the thing into airplane mode? You've got to be kidding me!
Thanks a lot for the solution hackarchive! :good::good::good:

HI GUYS, Im having an issue with my phone(HTC dna) that is getting beyond frustrating. I got the phone like a month ago off of something it worked fine for the first week..then one day randomly stopped reading my sim card.. Im not a total dummy so ive done and ruled out the obvious , my firmware was verison 4.09.605.4 I just updated it to the current one. 4.09.605.8 so i ruled out firmware being an issue. i then went to amazon and bought the new board were the sim card attaches and the audio jack attaches i just installed that yesterday and still nothing!!. I even bought a new up sim card tray still no.. when the sim card TRAY isnt installed i get a message when about a im card not detected ,ect. when i push the tray in that message goes away which indicates it is trying to read...but in the corner you see a sim card with x through it which means no sim card..I've replaced my sim card 3 times just to rule out that but my sim card works in my other phone just not this one.. When i first got this phone a month ago it worked fine!! no troubles.. Im on the ATT go plan..i put my sim in and nothing..but now it just doesnt work..ive tried hooking my phone to my computer and opening htc sync manager and tried doing the repair and nothing ive litterally tried and ruled out most of the obvious, Is this a known problem with these phones? Can anyone please!! help me with a solution i want this phone so badly..i love this phone!!..ill be waiting for replies..hopefully someone can drop knowledge to me! thank you!
I switched over to straight talk and had the same thing happen for awhile. Changed the tray and still didn't work. What ended up straightening it out for me was either resetting the apn settings or the new sim card i got. After I did those things it worked fine.
