Hi guys. I've always heard that unlocking bootloader and rooting voids warranty. What is true?
- Unlocking bootloader?
- Even after unrooting, still void?
- Can I undo unlocked bootloader?
- How does phone producers/makers know if your device (if sent for warranty) is modified?
- If I unroot/undo unlock bootloader, will they still know I have rooted/unlocked bootloader before?
Unlocking or Rooting your phone can void your warrenty.. This can be undone depending on your phone model.. Do a google with your phone model..

I have rooted, but my bootloader never had "unlocked" text, I say it this way and not just "my bootloader isn't unlocked" because I'm not sure if it is unlocked or not.
Is my warranty void already? If so I'm giong to unlock the bootloader and add AOKP rom!
In my country (Turkey) rooting the device voids the warranty. In case someone needs to send his phone to service, he needs to unroot first.
Also you need to go into recovery by holding power + volume down buttons together at startup, and see which recovery you have installed. Is it the CWM or the moto recovery? If CWM, you're already unlocked. Unlocking bootloader obviously voids warranty, no hesitation about it.

Unrooting your device is really easy, so no worry about that. If you flashed a sbf file to your device, your bootloader is unlocked

Technically, your warranty is void. But if you just delete the Superuser app it is doubtful anyone will notice.
If you don't see "unlocked" on your splash screen, then your bootloader is locked.

You can flash an sbf with a locked bootloader. Remember, that is how we unlock the bootloader.
Hi guys, I'd like to unlock my Xperia Ray's bootloader, but I don't want my warranty to be void. I know this is impossilbe, but it seems it is possible to get it back by relocking the bootloader, like on this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1862045
So, I was about to unclock my bootloader because I was sure I could send back my phone to warranty in case it would have a problem.
But then I saw this other thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752009
So I'm getting confused, will relocking my bootloader get my warranty back ?
Help me please
Cant say really ...
it's like a lottery ...
It's at the total discretion on sony's part to grant you warranty ...
Unlocking BL will erase the DRM which cant be restored even if BL is locked ...
Just assume ,your warranty is void when you unlock BL ..
Okay.
I'll wait my warranty to be finished to unlock my bootloader then. :good:
Thanks for your help.
If anyone has more informations though, post it here please.
Hi
Guys i recently bought MOTO E and I want to know method about relocking boootloader ? and How can we claim warranty again.
As in SONY devices we can take backup of DRM keys before unlocking bootloader so we have warranty.
LG devices flashtool can restore bootloader to it's original condition so no worry.
What about Motorola? is there any method should i know ? How can we have both warranty and unlocked device.
Good luck

You can unlock your bootloader from motorola website and what i know is that once you unlocked your bootloader your warrantly is lost whether you later lock your bootloader before going to service centre. So once unlocked mean lost warranty
Hey guys,
This is once again one out of thousand of the same questions, however, since this is regarding an official installation of Android, that requires the boot loader to be unlocked, this might be a different case..
So let's keep it short: Does unlocking the boot loader and installing Android L voids warranty or not? And if not: How is it reversible so the unlock will be hidden?
Thanks guys.
p.s. Does this belong in the Q&A section or here, since it's both a question and a developer thingy..?
It doesn't void the warranty. Just reboot into the boot loader and type fastboot oem_lock from your computer to reverse it. By the way, yes it does belong in q and a
It does void warranty as you need to unlock your bootloader (Also wipes all data). However as mentioned above you can claim warranty after locking bootloader again.
UPDATE: As you live in EU, you can claim warranty even with unlocked BL, root tada tada.
I don't do phones with bootloaders that cannot be unlocked easily.
We are not sure yet
