Hi,
As I'm new to the area, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I bought a SII from UK (T-Mobile unlocked) and have been using it in Turkey. Yesterday, as JB wasn't available for T-Mobile UK yet, I downloaded 4.1.2 for Vodafone UK. After installing it, my device began asking network unlock PIN. (I should have downloaded an unbranded ROM, I learned it later.)
I rooted the phone for the first time and tried to unlock it with Galaxy Sim Unlock, but no good. I installed back the 4.0.4 for T-Mobile, but the problem continues.
Now I'm stuck with the phone. Any help, direction, lead to relevant forums would be appreciated. (The ones I searched and read was above my knowledge.)
Here is the screenshot showing the details of the phone.
What can I do without losing the IMEI, etc. information?
Thanks,

with basic knowledge you can't do much...
btw - did you try all unlocking apps from market??
No, just Galaxy Sim Unlock. All the time, I was reading about similar problems and when I saw about the EFS backup requirement, I stopped trying. And looked for more experienced support, here. I didn't want to mess up IMEI as it would cause lots of trouble.
Sure, it takes time to learn but if it'a phone which serves every communication, time urges. So, will keep on reading and find something.
By the way, as going back to ICS didn't help, I thought it would be better to be on JB if I could unlock the phone. Now I have this on my phone (again unrooted):
Baseband version: I9100XXLS8
Kernel version: 3.0.31-889555
[email protected]#3
...
Build Number
JZ054K.I9100XWLSJ
When I was trying to find a way to root, I saw different kernels but I couldn't understand the exact one I needed. From what I read here: "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399", I have to use a kernel with LSJ. Is it true?

You flashed a branded ROM on an unbranded phone.

i went through the same ordeal! download galaxsim unlock from xda! it worked for me after trying a whole buch of other ones including galaxsim unlock 1.43. good luck!
I'm sure it was a stupid thing to do but give to the long time waiting for JB and getting another ICS. But the phone wasn't unbranded totally, I hated that T-mobile animation on every boot.
Just one thing, as I asked above, can you suggest a kernel to root. I gave the information above and I was confused with the many options to choose among. I'm not sure which one is for me.
Re: [Q] Phone locked after JB
Flash unbranded jb.
If it's still blocked get galaxysim unlock, it's free here at xda.

Solved-thanks.
I solved the problem with the method vanisleryan suggested. I installed unbranded jb as you said. Thanks everyone.
Alright then, you can add [SOLVED] to the topic to help other users with the same issue.

Hello,
I'm hoping someone might know the answer as this is the first i've encountered such an issue.
Bought Galaxy S2 from Canada BELL carrier. got the phone unlocked previously. been flashing different ROM and update and is using XWLPM 4.0.4 ICS.
everything was working fine till about yesterday where a "Network Lock Control Key" popped up preventing me from accessing my SIM card. I do not believe my SIM is locked as i tested the SIM to another phone and it works fine without any security password.
somehow my phone is not locked again and i tried all the different unlocked method in the Playstore and nothing worked. it almost as seems the phone re-locked itself somehow.
my question is, is there a way to find out what network the phone is locked to so if i decide to purchase a unlock code, i know that it will work properly?
Appreciate any feedback or suggestions, as i need my phone desperate.!!! :crying:
Version 4.0.4
using Stock XWLPM Kernel (rooted)
Build XWLPM
Baseband using LD3 baseband = UGLD3 <-- Bell Carrier Modem Baseband.
Thanks
Why create another thread ? You've got a related open thread a couple of posts down you could have continued to use (changed the OP & title).
my bad ,total noob move.. i felt that it was a different question so i created another post. i can delete but not sure how!! any direction would be appreciated.
Use older thread. Locked
I purchased the above phone in China 3 weeks ago to use in the USA. Everything is in Chineese, and even when I go to the internet it uses the China internet browser. How do I change the software over to the US version? There is no sim card, and the phone has never been activated.
Android version 4.0.4, Baseline i9300ZNLH3, Kernel 3.0.15-1038370-user, build number IMM76D.I9300ZNBLH3.
if the chineese s3 version is smilar to the international s3 you can use the normal method to flash roms with odin in download mode. use forum search.
check product code backside your s3 behind battery
This is what is behind battery:
GT-I9300
CMIIT ID: 2012CP2597
Yup, the model is i9300 which is the international model, meaning you can just download a stock rom from any English-speaking country and flash it and when you reboot the phone it'll give you the option to set everything up in English.
Unless of course, you bought a counterfeit (China's pretty well known for making them) in which case I wish you the best of luck xD
Cool, I will search the posts and figure out how as I am a newbe and never done that before, Thanks for all the help.
Check out "john4lakers" on youtube. He did a fake s3 video, compare yours.. Hope its not

Follow the instructions on these 2 sites:
http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s3/
http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-unroot/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s3-i9300/
The first site tells you how to root the phone so you can flash a ROM into it, and the 2nd site tells you how to flash a stock ROM and then unroot the phone in case you don't wanna void the warranty. The site from which you can download the ROM is in the 2nd site
Man, please delete your IMEI, somebody may use it to screw thing up with your phone.
i sent him a pm.. Didnt notice he posted the whole thing.. Need a mod to do it urgently !!!

Got thru the first root process, everything when well. Working on installing the stock firmware. Could not find a US version, downloading one for the Mexico region. Hope that will work. It is downloading now so I can finish the process of installing.
Just finished rooting and un-rooting. I had alittle trouble, but the video helped alot. It was succesful. I installed a Mexico version of the phone to get rid of the China version. My question is, is there a US version avilible? I notice alot of cautions about installing the US or Canada version on this phone, and they are specific to a carrier.
Maybe I am not understanding everything correctly. If I install a custom root, does that do teh same thing? I wanted to get rid of teh country specific icons for China and get to the US ones, and that has happened for the most part. Now the screens and wallpaper are showing the Mexico carriers name.
Sorry if these are basic questions.
This forum is for I9300 International model only .
Firmware that is not for I9300 model will brick your phone .

Hi there! I really hope someone could help me
with my problem. Well first of, I'm an entire noob with
Androids as I have been a Nokia loyalist
(sucks to be me). I have a factory unlocked S3 GT-i9300
bought from China and was sent to me
here in the Philippines. I have tried
upgrading it to JB 4.1.1 via OTA and Kies
but I've had encountered roadblocks for
the longest time. That's when a friend of mine suggested to use Odin but the
mofo didn't tell me that there were
other stuff that I need to consider (all
the Phone, PDA and CSC stuff posted in
the first post of this thread). So I
downloaded from www.samfirmware.com an official JB 4.1.1 ROM for Globe Telecoms
Philippines since that's the network that
I'm using and flashed it on my S3 via
Odin. Everything went well except for
the part where I'm being asked for a
network unlock code! WAAAAH! My phone is now locked and I don't
even where it's locked to. Is there a way for me to unlock it again
without having to pay those unlock
code generators? PLEASE HELP!!! TIA!
Here is your answer.-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839200
First of all, I'm from China, my English is not very well, maybe you can't understand what I'm saying. I'm so sorry to my college English teacher that I haven't learn hard in his class.
Now let's entering the title:
I have a SAMSUNG Exhilarate(SGH-I577 AT&T) which my sister bring back from NewYork, and I want it to use my Chinamobile SIM card, and there comes the problem. When I insert my Chinamobile SIM card into the phone, it needs me to input "sim network unlock pin" ,but I don't have this number.
First what I'm thinking is to flash a rom, but this phone model doesn't released in China, I've been searched for 2 days, and finally find it's rom in this forum, I've downloaded two roms
[ROM][OFFICIAL] CarbonRom for the Exhilarate(i577) [NIGHTLIES]

I've been successfully flashing both of them, but when I insert my Chinamobile SIM card, it all needs to input "sim network unlock pin" :crying:
I searched whole day to find a way to unlock this, I've tried Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Tool, it doesn't work. Someone said there is a nv_data.bin file in the system, but I haven't found it even by using ReExplorer. Then I find Samsung tool and installed in my computer, but it doesn't work, does this software need to purchase?
So anybody call tell me how to unlock my phone, Is there any expert, proficient, mybe god can help me, Can someone give me a detailed description how to do this,
you can reply to this thread or send me an email:[email protected]
I'll give you my best regard.

My father always says that I keep learning from the forums and I never write anything. Well now something discovered by me. At least I believe so after browsing Internet for several hours.
I read the above recomendation of "kew1701" about flashing a modem of the t989 to the i577, and I thought: That will probably brick my i577 because the i577 is LTE and the t989 don't. It worked for the t769 because the t769 is not LTE either. And both the t989 and the t769 are for T-Mobile.
So I decided to give the try on my i577 with the modem I use to unlock the i727, the UCLD2. I assured my i577 was on ICS 4.0.4 and installed the modem with TWRP.
I originally downloaded that modem from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029650
(I thank that thread).
Followed the *#197328640# steps and it worked like a charm! Unlocked!. IMEI intact and all working. Now probably will flash back a i577 stock firmware, if I find it.
(My phone was on 4.0.4 UCLH3)
Enjoy.

Hey guys,
I've been trying to unlock my phone for a few days now. Long story short, I moved from Canada to Japan and now I want to unlock my S3 to use a Japanese SIM.
I bought an unlock code from eBay. I was previous running cyanogenmod but then I was told that rooting will cause issues, so I unrooted my phone after an unsuccessful SIM unlock attempt. (wiped the phone, installed stock TW)
Even after unrooting I still had issues, and was given directions for the Service mode. That did not work either. I have tried many different methods and troubleshooting tips and nothing seems to have worked.
Here are some screenshots of the debug mode, my phone details, and a simple root checker app I installed.

My first thoughts are that since its from ebay it might not be a real unlock code.
I have had a lot of difficulty unlocking my GS3, as well. I actually got the codes from ATT, my carrier. I've tried 4 times, each unsuccessful. It says that after 5 failed attempts, the phone is forever locked to ATT, so I'm afraid to try that last 5th time. I was wondering if you could root, and then unlock more reliably. Is that possible?
Root makes no difference, you probably don't have an i9300 if you are on ATT.
