[Q]How can we block ads from our rooted devices? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Google decided to remove all adblocking software from play store, as they are in conflict with market rules.
Where can we find those adblock softwares from now on?
Sorry for my bad english... there are boud to be some grammar errors, since I haven't had any practise in months...

Just search for one of those existing applications that Google removed on Google. Search for an .APK file.

I used to use AdFree for blocking ads, but now it says too old, update from market. Could you please give me new host files ???
Thanks

You can use Pimp My Rom to install the AdBlock feature it is in the Apps&Mod section of the app

Hey if you are rooted you can use rom tool box, it has a ad blocker in it hope this helps.

Absolutely awesome, but his is getting hold of app that needs root and how do I know this 3rd party market has safe stuff on it? Want the AdFree app but don't want any Malware.
Anyone has URL of reputable and trusted 3rd party Android app markets?

Try Apk mania it's quiet good

can Add free be used to block the random play store and browser pop ups?
Or is there something else to do this?
I'm rooted running Blisspop and I haven't downloaded any games or anything else that might have caused it. (that I know of) I have AdAway on my phone already but it's not stopping it from happening.
not sure what I can do, any help would be appreciated thanks

can someone help me by uploading it here or via pm or email. if its free of course i don't know if it is or not cause it wont let me get that far.
the app is called clipfish. its a german app i believe. id like to listen and watch to music and videos from another country and this app seems right up my Alley.
if anyone could help that'd be great!
I'm not sure but if copyright of this App is ON maybe you can't install it, anyway search for "MarketEnabler" application in the market. (I can't post link's because I'm new and I need at least 8 post's)
I personally never try it but i read a good stuff for it.
I found it when i search for a same problem with my app in the market, but my issue was that it was filtered for the developer device and i didn't check it.

Just read the comments for that enabler app. Some people are saying that it doesn't work with market v3.2 which is what I'm using. So I'll wait and see if it gets updated.

Is the app perhaps available on other markets? I know AndroidPit and AndroidTapp are both making their own, there was another one too, they are springing up all over the place.
What app is it out of interest?

I am rooted. It still doesn't work for me. I've tried to use it in as many variations as I can think.
I'm thinking since it is a German app for German music, videos, etc. That its all copyrighted specifically to Germany. Which makes me sad.

As for whats app i've managed to obtain it by googling.
Be careful some non market apps can be hacked with malware .

Is there any specefic place in the forum where i can ask for a clean zenonia 4 apk?

Ad-blocker Apps Were Yanked From Play Store, But Help Is Here!

No wonder if you can't find any of your favorite ad blocking apps such as AdAway in Google play, Google is removing them as of today.

They prevent developers from making money. Obviously it would be happening sooner or later, I'm also surprised they remained until now.
No big deal to me. People need to make money somehow. Frankly, though, I prefer those that offer a free ad-supported version and a paid version. If I use an app a lot I'd rather just pay for it and remove the ads. It's often a bummer when people only offer ad-supported versions of apps.

You can still get AdAway from F-Droid.
Also, you can do ad blocking at the kernel level and it is already implemented in custom kernels for our phone.
Just block ads by host file I can link the file here https://www.dropbox.com/s/hat49do241hhuy8/hosts.rar or quick Google search, even quicker download, use a file explorer that has root privileges move the file to /system/etc/ rename your old one or just over write it........ GL
EDIT: You will need to unzip/unrar it then move it to /system/etc/
Re: Ad blocking apps are nuked from play store
Also I posted an ad away here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39144524
Compiled from source. So plenty of options for everyone.
AdAway has been my favorite, can't live w/o it.
Thanks a lot, gents

Problem with root Explorer v3.0.1

Hi! Guys. I have been unsuccessful in installing Root Explorer (File Manager) v3.0.1 on our Galaxy Y. Every time I tried installing it, it says 'Parsing Error'. I am in a dilemma. Or is this particular version incompatible with android 2.3? Right now I am using v3.0. Please share your experiences with this particular version of Root Explorer i.e. v3.0.1. Thanking in anticipation.

I have seen on some websites that it requires android 3.0+. But on Play Store they didn't mentioned the android version again. Confused. If any one had successfully installed it on Galaxy Y, please tell me.

What do you meant to say? That I am asking for a warez site? Think carefully before you speak. I am not asking where from I can download this paid application for free. I am only asking if it is compatible with our phone. Because I am facing problem with its installation as stated above. I purchased the app from Google play. I am not a kid in XDA forum. I know all the rules. Don't try to upset me further. Your answer is completely out of the question. If you have never tested the application, do not spam this thread with your silly answers.

If there were no error why would I ask here in the first place? If you really want to know, buy the apps from Play Store and install it. Let me tell you something. Sometimes, there are apps on Play Store available for Galaxy Y but not compatible with it. Ex. GTA 3, Temple Run, etc. So, if you download such apps, there is bound to be error while being installed by Play Store.

That is the reason why I am creating this thread. I am also quite surprise, bro. What you said is definitely true. Anyways, I am already asking for refund. Thanks for your constructive suggestions. (Q) What the hell is happening to the Play Store?

Why is Google allowing these applications into the play store?
On the Top New Apps section I've already found:

I imagine they'll get removed eventually, but would get removed sooner if people reported them. Shame you can't report apps from your browser - you have to use the app. I did report the bricking app though. That's just plain dumb, and unfortunately some people need protecting from themselves!
I see no point why we can't report apps like that from our browser. It's obviously malicious.

Obviously to destroy someone else's phone.
Well we can't do much and neither can Google as there are tons of new apps coming every day and many such malicious apps are bound to get past restrictions and be available for download.
