Upgrading to new roms is a pain, because it takes a lot. For people who work or italian students that have to study 229 pages of literature for the next week, this is often a pain.
I am looking for the quickest way to put all my stuff on a newer rom (im on 4.1.1 stock rooted, gonna upgrade to foxhound)...ive searched the web and fastest way seems to be titanium backup...that's good and all...but it doesnt convince me too much.
Is it possible to just restore data fron a nanadroid backup?
Or tell how you manage to do it, and what the most efficient way you think might be...

TB pro
or the newer Carbon .
Data only from Nandroid yes .
Flash new rom boot recovery restore data only works 99% of the time .
Only problem can be the odd app conflict or a conflict if you move from ICS to JB .

Could do that with a micro sd, plus in italy internet connections are low speed, so it would be a total waste of time and broadband to have it sync thru wifi...

I believe titanium backup pro is best method, cause restoring just data on foxhound made it crash.
Plus carnon seems to be not as much developed as tb...

yeah, or you could do it with a click of a button, see which one's more convinient.
Local syncing does not use any traffic, it syncs locally.
but if you've already made up your mind I guess there's no point in asking.

Titanium back up I believe it does one app at the time and then I have to keep on giving it permissions, is it just me? Nandroid back up is an "image" of the actual ROM, data, settings etc. so if you try it, you would go back to previous rom, etc.

Hello guys! I've been formatting my phone more frequently as of lately as I've been trying roms, and I'd like to know is there a way to backup the icon order or folders or anything like that? It's kind of a pain putting all my icons back in order and such every time! I'm not rooted. Is there a way? Thanks
Some launchers have the ability to save the layout, launcher pro and adw come to mind, doubt the stock one can.

Yes I did read your first post! Indeed you said you are not rooted, But,.... you didn't asked for any way without root did you? You just asked and I provided an answer, one you would of found of you had actually searched?
Just got to be a little clearer to exactly what you need, so Users wishing to help don't waste their time
Cheers

You have to root if you wanna use Titanium Backup
I think other app or other solution you still need to root cause you have to mass with system app(touchwiz) so you need root.

If non-rooted try My Backup Pro you can save system and 3rd party apps data .....
I can't find my sdcard which has all of my backups...I have a few others kicking around that I can use but what do i do if I want to go back to gb or back to stock ics... getting tired of all the bugs and freeze ups with my current hybrid rom.

Downloads are available on the forum for the stock GB and the latest leaks. I don't see what your issue is. Just reflash.
All your apps are at the play store.
Learn to back up SMS and phone logs. Use titanium back up and push everything to Dropbox then you will be able to flash fearlessly.
Just to expand on what ranger said...thx ranger [email protected]: get the paid ver of Tibu...Titanium Backup you will not be sorry best $$ spent, plus google the youtube vid on how to use the tibu...best time spent...

No ones freaking out buddy...all I'm saying is that I had a very nice collection of backups including a backup of my note stock out of the box. Just about every rom out there stresses to make a backup and not to use tbu especially for data, which is why I don't use it. Obviously I know I can just make a backup of my current rom and flash any rom I want but I wasn't sure or didn't know stock gb was or is available just in case I need to get my phone warrentied for any reason. And when I flash a new rom I never restore apps and such, the only thing I restore are my sms ...I like a fresh phone.

Thanks for the replies guys but I wasn't concerned with apps and data, all I basically wanted to know was if stock gb was available in case I ever need to return my phone (I made a backup of gb on my sdcard which I lost) I don't care about call logs and I do backup and restore my SMS. I tend not to use tbu since my roms suggest not to use it especially to restore data.

I think you misunderstand. TB is one of the top apps for android and everyone who is rooted should get familiar with it. But you need to use it wisely. Using TB incorrectly can cause ForceCloses with both User and System apps. When using it on the Note and especially going from a gingerbread to ICS ROM it is suggested to restore user apps only but not the associated data.

Don't really wan't to as it will "void my warranty". I know there are many ways to keep your warranty in tact, but I still don't really feel like it. Just wanted to know if there is an option besides rooting.
Rooting is giving u freedom..personally for me...titanium requires u to root. If u wish to unroot, u can unroot then reset the counter... well don't stuck urself, let urself free bro....hehehe

Or flash Phil's touch recovery, this can pack up entire positions including efs as backups. Once you have a backup then copy it to your sd card, PC, dropbox and anywhere else you can think of.
use search, this has been answered many times

Hi all! I change rom a lot of times in a month and every time I have to restore applications using Astro file manager or other similar apps, clicking "next, next, install" for every app is very boring, especially when you do it a lot of times. I'm looking for something whereby restore all my applications and data every time by one-click (or a.zip) but I don't want to pay 5$ for titanium backup, neither to crack it. Can you suggest me something?
