I like the hardware features on the HTC ONE and the fact that it seems to be built like a tank. It is running 4.1.2 but I don't see any difference between 4.1.2 and 4.2.2.

Missing micro SD and Removable battery. SD is not an issue for me. I would probably get the 64gb for good measure but I haven't even used up my 32gb sd card. Battery may be an issue though.
S4
Feels cheap like the S3. But it has removable battery, an sd card, and it .3 inches bigger then the one. 5' may be an issue since I can barely type with one hand on my S3 (mind you I also have the Amaze which I love lol). Bigger screen means I can watch movies better, read, I love to read.
As far as custom roms, I picture the S4 having a strong community much like the S3 has. I know many have been left better because of what happened to the Amaze. Is it possible the HTC One will have a strong community?
im going with the s4 once its out for month or so.... (just to see what devs gravitate to it)

SLCD3 is far superior to Super Amoled.

Eye tracking, gesture control, temp and humidity sensors, and s pen support. Of course I'm sure an app could take care of the first 2, but three other 3 things are hardware, and s4 has it, the one does not!

Eh given it has that (the hardware part) but most if not any will utilize the temp and humidity feature...Google Now takes care of that seamlessly as well as a whole plethora of weather apps for those people that can't live without knowing the weather. Regarding spen I am sure people would go for the note series if they truly utilize the spen in their daily use due to its screen real estate where the pen would actually be useful. Regarding the development HTC is bringing the developer edition of the one with 64 GB of storage so I am sure development will be amazing (the regular version will probably get unlocked eventually as well). In my opinion one would utilize the front speakers way more than all the gimmicks that the s4 is offering (for better music and movie watching experience without headsets). The only weak point is its battery but since it isn't out yet we can only speculate about that, maybe sense has been optimized enough to squeeze juice out of the battery more efficiently (sense 4 roms have very decent battery life even on the amaze with its 1750 mah battery) and sense 5 is supposed to be even more lightweight. The way I see it spec wars are now not really a problem, manufacturers need to focus on build quality and aesthetics as well and both sony and htc have done that with their flagships this year. Samsung again has disappointed and you will witness exact Chinese replicas of the s4 (just like with the s3) flooding the market and every person and their grandmother would seemingly have one and you can't tell the fake from the real visually as they are both crafted from the cheapest quality of plastic available. However it would be very difficult to replicate htc one due to its mere quality and premium feel. Just my 2 cents. I am deciding between xperia z or htc one but holding out to see what motorolla x brings to the table then making my decision.

If you were considering picking up a HTC One, but were worried about the battery performance, fear no more!
According to battery endurance tests done by Expert Reviews, the 2,300 mAh battery of the HTC One managed close to 17 hours of 3G talk-time, and more notably, lasted an amazing 8 hours and 32 minutes in video playback!
With numbers like these, getting a full day of usage with one charge, which has become increasingly difficult, should not be a problem anymore. The review does state that the review unit did not feature the final software version, but assuming that the final release will only make things more efficient, the battery test results are great.
To put these numbers in perspective, a recent battery test of the Sony Xperia Z, which features a slightly larger battery at 2,330 mAh, showed that while the Xperia Z lasted for 16 hours of 3G talk-time, the video playback test gave a result of just 5 hours and 39 minutes. Granted, the Xperia Z does feature a larger display, but that shouldn’t result in a difference of more than 3 hours.
We’ll be looking at a lot of other battery tests once the HTC One is officially released later this month, but for now, the initial results are certainly impressive. Battery life could well become one of the many reasons to buy the HTC One.

Well the question was. Like what? In regards to what the s4 has that the one doesn't. I for one would use the temp and humidity sensors, as a weather app doesn't tell you the temp of where you are, but rather the closest reporting center and no weather app can tell you the humidity in your home. And I know of many people who would like to use the s pen on something a little smaller than three note. Besides, just cause you find no need for a hardware feature, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

It exists I only pointed out that the front facing speakers with amazing sound quality trump the hardware features that s4 has bought to the table. Regarding hardware does the s4 have ir blaster? That technology is much more useful than a thermostat on your phone seriously I don't know how you can defend that. Get a note 2 its better than the s4 anyways if you are a Samsung fan, but gs4 didn't bring anything substantive to the table imo. Sony and HTC both have and I hope they do well

The s4 does indeed have ir blaster. I didn't mention that because it isn't something that is missing from the one. They both have it. And I agree it Is a very useful feature.

IMO neither. Sure the HTC One looks like a well built phone but you can bet it wont have a dev scene or much of one since they clearly want it locked down as tight as possible. Small, non-removable battery, no expandable storage, Sense 5 looks like Windows Phone, and the phone itself looks a lot like the iPhone 5.
The Galaxy S4 is a spec bump phone, might as well wait till it comes out and pick up the S3 for cheap from someone offloading one. Use some of the money you saved to buy a decent case since its made from some of the cheapest plastic i've ever seen.
I think the Sony Xperia Z would be a better choice but its a shame that it probably wont make it to the states.

In my quest to find the best android phone money can buy, I have arrived at the following list, along with the major reasons to buy them-
1) Samsung Galaxy SIII - Quad core
2) HTC One X - Quad core
3) LG Otimus 4X HD - Awesome screen, quad core
4) Galaxy Nexus - Fastest updates
5) Sony Xperia S - Great camera
6) HTC One S
7) Samsung Galaxy Note - Huge screen

And since this is the most popular android forum in the world, I would like to know your thoughts.
In terms of specs, I think the LG Optimus 4X HD wins out. But then, I could be wrong.
Maybe I should wait for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to arrive in my country?
I'm prepared to wait for about a month or so before I buy.

I agree. Buy the speaker is also made by Beats, right? So it has a pretty bad**s speaker.

No, the speaker is a normal one. Even with headphones, the beats headphones don't have any special advantage other than the branding and flashiness. Because Beats audio is just an equalizer profile, which makes certain types of music sound good. Any good quality headphones will have the same quality as Beats headphones. Coming back to the speaker, it's just OK. Better than my HTC Desire HD, but nothing special.
I love the screen of the One X though. I haven't used the Optimus 4X, but compare to GS3 I like the One X's screen much better. It's bright and the colours at great. I'm not a fan of AMOLED's over-saturated and unreal colours.
Factor this into your choice too - battery life. What kind of phone user are you? Do you use your phone heavily during the day when it's not on charge, or do you use it for the most part at home or near a charger? The One X doesn't have a removable battery, while the Galaxy S3 does, so if battery life is an issue you can always swap the battery if its removable. Don't know about the others. One S doesn't have a removable battery too.
Personally, I love the HTC One X save for the non-removable battery and lack of microSD slot. Also keep in mind, quad core doesn't really make much of a difference other than increased battery usage. Single core is too slow for phones now, but dual core is just right. Maybe a few years in the future phones will be used for such computing applications that require quad core processors, but right now that's not the case. Phones just don't need that much processing power right now. So don't consider a phone exclusively for quad core processors. The Galaxy Nexus with it's dual core processor is amazing in terms of usage.
I'm quite disillusioned by the support shown for relatively old phones by most of the manufacturers. Like the Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire HD upgrades to ICS. They're blatantly ignoring their old phones even before their time has come, and are giving ridiculous reasons to justify their actions. In terms of development support, Sony is being the best among the companies. All their 2011 phones received ICS, and will probably get JellyBean too. Even if unofficial, they will get fully working JellyBean, because Sony is supporting the development community by providing the required resources. Can't say the same about Samsung (to an extent) and especially HTC. Sony Xperia S is a nice phone, may not have the best screen, but has a good camera and other specs. The only other phone for assured updates (at least for 1-2 Android versions after the currently released version, is of course the Galaxy Nexus.

Thanks a lot, for your valuable insight.
I am a very regular user and use my phone multiple times when not a home. So I guess that rules out one x in that perspective, also I keep changing phones, so micro Sim also doesn't seem attractive.
But I really really want the latest updates so nexus and Sony are looking good too.
And LG Optimus look the best in terms of specs but hasn't received many reviews yet

Yes, the One X and One S will keep running out on you. I've seen this happen many times. Only option is to have a car charger when you're driving or to use a battery pack (>2000 mAh). These usually retail at ₹2500-3000 at electronics stores. I love the One X, but I didn't buy it because I use my phone a lot, and it just wouldn't suffice. I have an HTC Desire HD, which is a great phone but is known for it's measly battery (1230 mAh). With custom ROMs & kernels having many battery life saving modifications, it lasts, but not as much as you would expect it to. I have 3 batteries for the phone so effectively 1230*3= 3690 mAh. I just swap batteries when one is drained, and they're small and easy to fit in the pocket (finally a use for the small right side pocket in jeans ). That's the advantage of having a removable battery. You don't even have to waste money buying one of those (hardly ever true) high capacity batteries. Just keep an extra original OEM battery.
Since you swap phones often, a standard size SIM is useful, but honestly don't let that influence your choice of phone. One X and Galaxy SIII both use it. All phones are moving towards micro-SIM these days, so that can't be a criteria. You can buy a good quality micro-SIM to normal SIM (called mini-SIM) adapter to use with other phones. You can even just keep the outer shell of your own SIM when you cut it to micro-SIM size, and when you need to put it in another phone, place your micro-SIM in the hollow and put some thin tape on the blank side to hold it in place. 4.7"-4.8" - Samsung Galaxy SIII (Nothing is tempting me too much to wait for the Droid Razr HD other than it's 2500 mAH battery, also I don't know when it's going to come to India. Also, GSIII has huge developer support, and it will stay that way unless Motorola gets more supportive of the developer community. LG Optimus G looks nice, but I'm not too optimistic about LG, though we'll only know how the phone is when it comes out. Specs are one thing and actual working feel of the phone is another).
4.3" - Sony Xperia S
I'd also say that the Galaxy Nexus, albeit older than all these phones, is a great value for money phone right now. So if you're looking to get an awesome phone without spending too much, buy it. It doesn't need much to talk about since it's a Nexus. Specs may be below the other phones but it runs great and much smoother than other phones. I got it for my cousin and used it a lot so I'm speaking from experience. I asked a relative in the US to get it and ship it to me. It worked out to be $(349+40+40) = $429 (~₹23,800) including the base price of phone+taxes and shipping to my realtive+international shipping to me. I also got away with paying ₹500 at the customs office though they asked for ₹3200. I'm not trying to sell the phone, just saying that it's a great value for money phone right now (if that is a constraint).

He's a trusted seller and sells it for $460. That's a $31 difference from what I got it at, which is ~₹1720. That's not much of a difference, considering his remuneration for his services. 4.7"-4.8" - Samsung Galaxy SIII (Nothing is tempting me too much to wait for the Droid Razr HD other than it's 2500 mAH battery, also I don't know when it's going to come to India. Also, GSIII has huge developer support, and it will stay that way unless Motorola gets more supportive of the developer community. LG Optimus G looks nice, but I'm not too optimistic about LG, though we'll only know how the phone is when it comes out. Specs are one thing and actual working feel of the phone is another).
4.3" - Sony Xperia S
I'd also say that the Galaxy Nexus, albeit older than all these phones, is a great value for money phone right now. So if you're looking to get an awesome phone without spending too much, buy it. It doesn't need much to talk about since it's a Nexus. Specs may be below the other phones but it runs great and much smoother than other phones. I got it for my cousin and used it a lot so I'm speaking from experience. I asked a relative in the US to get it and ship it to me. It worked out to be $(349+40+40) = $429 (~₹23,800) including the base price of phone+taxes and shipping to my realtive+international shipping to me. I also got away with paying ₹500 at the customs office though they asked for ₹3200. I'm not trying to sell the phone, just saying that it's a great value for money phone right now (if that is a constraint).

He's a trusted seller and sells it for $460. That's a $31 difference from what I got it at, which is ~₹1720. That's not much of a difference, considering his remuneration for his services. Hey everyone. I know this has been beaten to death but I'm having hard time making a decision.
I have had an AT&T HTC One for the past week or so. I'm very happy with the phone and have had really no issues. I'm running 4.2.2 in it and am happy. Problem is I am seriously considering switching to the s4.
There are some features the s4 offers that I really like. (multi-view, flip to ignore, etc.)
I had One X switched to the s3 then to an iphone 5 but missed android so came back and got the HTC One. Like I said I like the one. The button layout doesn't bother me although I do like the physical home button on the S. The speakers are awesome and the screen is very nice.
I just don't know what to do. I still have time to swap it for an S before my 14 days expire but don't want to regret switching.
Opinions???

In the same boat...I've actually got an S4 and a One right now, (the S4 goes to the wife at the end of the week) and I just can't decide if I like the S4 over the One. Both phones are fantastic, but the S4 has a few significant advantages to me that make me want to switch, but the One has other items that make me want to stay. I've got until Friday and it is just driving me nuts.
Here are my deciding factors, just in case they might help you out.
S4 Positives: a real customizable notification light, bigger screen (i also prefer OLED for the deeper blacks), side power button, camera outdoor performance, battery life is greater
One Positives: speakers (tho can be bad because even on the lowest level they are LOUD), camera speed and low light performance, build quality
So yeah...a few for each and I just have to decide which ones are most important to me.

No regrets so far. Actually really liking the S4 so far. The stock keyboard seems much easier to type one compared to the one for me. Liking some of the features a lot, especially multi-view. Screen is nice. I got the 32 gig version and have a 64 gig SD card in as well so plenty of storage.

I spent 2 weeks going back and forth between the 2 phones and I'm a rep for AT&T, so I got to play with them both all day. I even had the One as my work phone for a week (not allowed to root work phone). I finally made my choice to make the HTC one my personal phone based on these reasons:
1) This is the main reason, I want my top of the line phone to be snappy and as fast as the specs say it should be. The S4 has horrible lag. Now when i say this, I'm the type of person that notices the small things. But I actually felt at times that the S4 got "stuck" on things (like switching from portrait to landscape) more so than my S3.
2) Media: Can't beat the speakers. And as for the camera, sure zooming in isnt as good as the S4 BUT the pictures are a lot less blurry on moving targets. I have kids and they move. What's the point in 13 MP if I can't see their faces? I hear the S4 is better to watch videos on screen wise. I didn't notice much difference. But having the speakers face me on the One was a plus.
3) The novelty on the S4 features, like eye scroll, wore off fast. Not only that, I had to turn then off to help the phone stop lagging. After a while, I honestly felt that all I was holding was an S3 with a better screen.
3.5) Sense 5 has a different keyboard and browser from the previous versions. Not only did it feel much different from my older HTCs, but for the first time I found myself using the STOCK keyboard and browser.
4) Screen Burn in. Just Google screen burn in on S4. And seeing all the super AMOLED screens have words burn in them from being on the AT&T display wall turned me off.
5) Development community: this sealed it for me. The hardware on the One is the same in the US as it is internationally. That means more development options. Also, there were a few trolls who owned S4s (especially on the AT&T side) who were really annoying and immature. The HTC One community, both US and International are awesome. Great people here.
Now I'm not bashing the S4, and if it seems like I'm nitpicking, that's because I am. Like I said, it took me 2 weeks of constant comparing to come to these conclusions. And at the end of it all, I felt like it was the HTC One, not the S4, that I couldn't bare the thought of not having.

I was an iPhone user since the iPhone 3G. I finally switched to Android with the One. Used it for about a week and loved it but saw all those S4 features and thought that's the phone. I jumped and switched and thought it is going to be great. After using the S4 for about two days I knew exactly why I didn't like Androids. It lags, the features are gimmicky and drain the battery. They don't work with all applications either.
Long story long, I switched back to HTC One and haven't had to modify or root this one because this phone is fast and responsive as it is. (I did root and install and subsequently uninstall bunch of mods)
Almost all benchmarks will tell you that S4 is faster, but unfortunstely the real world usage will reveal otherwise. I did feel that's the S4 was easier and lighter to hold.

I'll quote myself to say that after the 14 days, I still really don't have a good answer to this dilema but the HTC One and Beats pill speaker for $99 sealed it for me. I like both phones A LOT, but the slight sluggishness on the S4 is what ultimately swayed me towards the one, even before I saw the link for the deal.
I'm wanting to switch back to the HTC One. Why did you guys choose the One over the SGS4???

I fell in love with the One the instant I saw one. I came from the sgs 3 and the 4 was just more of the same.
Because the GS4 is laggier than the S2. And flashing roms and doing things that require LOKI was aggravating. Sense is soooo much better than touchwiz. Boomsound.
I could keep going but your just going to have to trust me. The HTC ONE is so much better of a phone.
Camera, Zoes and Highlights. Taking photos/vids of my daughter and sharing them is actually fun. The awesome screen, speakers and build are just icing on the camera cake.
It's prettier.
I went to Best Buy planning on getting the GS4. Played with it for a good 10 minutes. Felt laggy, screen was really dim, internal memory was low, although it was light and had minimum bezel...I didn't like the design patterns. So I decided to look at the HTC One...felt smooth and really responsive. The front speakers were amazing (boom sound). Camera took faster snapshots than the s4. Internal memory was all there. The build quality and design pretty much won me over. I was really surprised because I walked into the store ready to pickup the S4 but ended up walking out with the ONE.

The galaxy s4 was rushed out, it is pre-production quality right now until they get some updates rolled out. Not to mention the cat and mouse bootloader games... if I wanted to deal with that I would stick exclusively to an iPhone
More of the same with GS4
I've had a GS3 since July of last year and while I loved the phone, I couldn't justify upgrading to a GS4 cause it was just more of the same thing.. The HTC One is my first HTC phone and in my opinion, it's the perfect phone.. Storage is not an issue and it just became a problem on the GS3 as the phone would not store anything on the sd card unless I myself placed it in there..
The S4 and the One are almost a tossup in my opinion (anybody would be almost equally satisfied with either one). I went with the one because:
1.) All I care about is the "Google Edition" I'll have it on my phone as soon as its available HTC Seemed to provide the least problems here, with their unlock capabilities/HTCDev and what not.
2.) After you take away all the features you'll potentially lose in AOSP, I still have front stereo speakers and aluminum body on the One - but on the S4 I'd lose most of the selling points.
3.) Little fragmentation between carriers/international/dev editions. (Easier for others and myself to support a wider range of devices in any development efforts)
Things I miss about the S4
1.) Wireless charging capabilities (with purchase)
2.) Better button layout
Things others probably miss about the S4
1.) Battery life (not a problem here, the one makes it through the day for me - I also have plenty of opportunities to plug it in during the day if need be)
2.) Camera (I rarely use the camera on my devices)
This is from a app developer's perspective - also someone who enjoys making kernel modifications for android/desktop devices

Well I've always had HTC phones since my T-Mobile dash (HTC Excalibur) and I was very tempted on the s4 to be my very first non HTC smart phone but couldn't get over the styling of it. The one just looks so much better and speakers up front are a no brainer makes so much sense versus cupping your hand behind the phone to hear it... My girlfriend got a gs4 tho and it is noticeably slower... Not always but once in a while you hit menu and it takes a few seconds longer to where you think you missed the button or you hit a link and go to hit it again just as the page changes and you hit something on the next page etc.... When I use my One all day and grab her phone for something it's very noticeable. I like all her ui customizations but it seems like HTC went with a more refined bug free ui with options coming in an update where as Samsung sacrificed quality for features at launch. Both great phones tho for sure.
I had the s4 and it was super laggy before the update but was fixed with the ota. It also lacked any luster and just felt super cheap! The HTC is awesome performs well and has a great stock keyboard. Boom sound is awesome and the LCD screen on the one puts the gs4 to shame!!! The only thing I found to be better on the gs4 was battery life but it wasn't by much and not enough to convince me to keep it.

The lag was most definitely NOT fixed by the OTA. While slightly better, it still permeates the experience. I should know. I occasionally pop my sim back in and use it until it pisses me off and drives me back to the One.
I do NOT have a lot of widgets or applications running in the background. But I noticed that the RAM dips down below 300mb and when it does, it starts to run even worse. Compared to the One and the LG Optimus G Pro, neither of which lag at all regardless of how low the RAM gets.
Yes there is definitely lag after the ota update. I still believe it is a software issue. But I don't have to worry about it because my One runs super smooth!

Simple question really. I was torn between the note 3 and the one max. I am still debating whether to switch from the max to the note.
I picked the Max because:
1. I am tired of touchwiz
2. I like the extra size, screen, speakers, and build quality.
3. I like HTC
4. I had the note2 and never used the stylus and found most of the added features gimmicks. I never used multi window features. I had it for the screen size.
Why am I questioning the purchase of the Max?
1. Why pay the same price for the Max when I could get the note3 and get all the added features, even if I don't use them, I would at least have the option. ( This really is the biggest reason. I never used the stylus on the note2, but all the new options make me wonder if I would find it more useful.)
2. Camera
3. The reviews online...and I have literally read and watched countless reviews before making the decision.
I don't know if HTC had plans to make added features for future updates, but off this phone becomes a bust, I am worried there won't be much,if any support for it

I agree with all your positive points above. I would also add that I prefer LCD screens to amoled any day of the week. Amoled is too vivid for me. I prefer sharpness and true color. Also IMO the camera is not a negative. It may not have all the megapixels of others and unfortunately no optical image stabilization but for use indoors it is great. I can actually take a picture using the regular settings and not have the pictures come out dark. That is a benefit of the ultrapixel.
In a nutshell all the reviews have to say is how the Max uses the One chipset. They think just because it's not the newest it's not worthwhile. What's strange is these same people didn't blast the Moto X for coming out with such a crappy old chipset...
I will close out with saying now that I have used the stereo forward facing speakers of the Max I cannot stand using a single rear facing speaker phone. Why use android which is built for media consumption (all are 16:9 screens vice 4:3) if you can't hear what you are watching?!?

I also Agree with both of you. I choose the Max and specifically waited for it due to the screen size, the Speed(I am not worried about it not being a Snapdragon 800), the Designed and Front Speakers. Having a Fingerprint reader, NFC are great but the MicroSD card in combination of everything else made it my next device. I got it on Verizon EDGE so if something comes along in the next 6 months I have to have I can upgrade again.

I forgot about the sd card. Nice call. It's awesome having that extra space. And HTC did it perfectly by having a back cover that you can remove to get to the card and NOT have to hold the battery in while you do it. (I'm looking at you samsung!)
Since you asked ill be realy honest Ive had almost every phone you can think of and haven't had an HTC phone as my oficial driver since the evo 3d (had the HTC one I'll get in to details in a moment)and since the 3d I hated htc the one sucked completely don't now why they made it so bad had 3 in a month camera broke out of magic,but the one max is the solution. The note 2 was the best thing that have ever happened until now yes the HTC one max as of now is my favorite,now that I have soff it's designe,solid,battery life, screen, sound and camera(not the best but not as horrible as others say) the finger scanner works perfectly (don't now why people just don't know how to use it) I love this phone it haves everything I've always wanted
Ive been battling between these two phones and I hate to say it - but I'm almost positive I'm going with the Note 3.
I've been an HTC fan having owned the original evo for two years and now the ElteVO since launch day.
I was leaning toward the Max as I have been happy with HTC and I thought I preferred LCD to amoled, but I recently got to play with both phones at a sprint store and I was disappointed with the brightness on the Max. Plus I found it kind of boring after owning nothing but HTC for 4 years.
I'm also very disappointed with the support and development for the Max. I love rooting and trying different roms. The evo ElteVO support wasn't even strong enough to satisfy my flashing disease and that phone had alot stronger following than the Max appears to.
My biggest fears going with the note 3 are screen burn as I run full brightness and use my phone alot for work and also the GPS as in the past Samsung GPS haven't been known to be as strong as HTC.

Great phone the note 3 is a good phone by all means but who the hell is going to use all those gestures and features BoomSound big screen and expanded memory pull me all the way in. As stated above fingerprint works perfectly just have to know how u use it right great battery life build quality amazing HTC one max is killing the note in my eyes

I used to have a few htc phones, but the evo 3d was the last one for me.
I have had 4 Samsung phones in a row, and initially I thought they were the only way to go, but, the plastic builds, the advent of Knox Security, and the fact I never used my S-pen, it was time for a change..
This phone is fantastic for what I do with it; sound blows away any other phone, screen is as clear and crisp as anything every made, and I like the aluminum housing too!
Oh, 32 gigs INTERNAL storage, when coupled with a 64 gig card is great too! Its nice to web surf and not have to stretch everything so you can see it!
No idea why so many reviewers panned this phone; fingerprint scanner works perfectly, and who care about a snapdragon 800.
There is no lag or slow down on this phone, so hopefully more folks will ignore what the stupid reviewers say, because once you try this phone, you will buy it.
I want to say that I agree with all of the positives posted here. I almost bought the note as this was not out the night i was researching and Verizon did not really tell anyone when it was coming. The next day when clicking upgrade it was there in my face. I read reviews and everyone was bashing it because the size was bigger but nothing else really changed. Then the complained about them getting rid of the unibody but then praised it for adding the sd card slot. Thats when I lost all faith in phone reviewers. They must all be secret iDevice lovers. I want to say I love this phone over my S4. It is a bit heavy when talking on it but I really do not use the phone feature much.
get yourself a decent BT headset, and you can leave the phone in your pocket!
plus, if you get the right headset. you can just push the talk button on your headset, and google will come up and ask you who you want to call, and its been 100% accurate for me so far.
Time will tell man. I have note 3 & just got a HTC one max ordered today. Will get next week. Can't wait to try it out

I mean I dont use everyday. its nice to have occasionally but i think i can live without and i love sense and i love my htc one just wish it was bigger! and i get an sdcard so im happy about that even if it doesnt have the snapdragon 800 at least i have a fingerprint scanner hahaha
you wont notice any lag what so ever, it would have been nice to have the 800, but all that matters is actual performance, NOT specs..
plus, you can take notes with the scribble app, so if you want to, you still can

Yeah no pen though built in which is really nice and yeah I had zero lag on my HTC one and if the one max performs that well with a bigger screen and sdcard I'll be one happy camper!

I bought 2 ones for my wife and son, and they both came from note 2's and love the htc one..neither of them used the pen much either, and they both say the one seems even faster than the note 2.
Yeah, the max is just a gigantic one, with larger screen, larger speakers, larger everything! Of course the reviewers don't like that; they think it needs some special phablet features, and that no one will just want a gigantic htc one.
I for one wanted a bigger htc one specifically, so for me, its been fantastic!
hit up Amazon for cases and SP's; Sprint wants an arm and a leg for that stuff, and for what I would have paid for one case at sprint, I got 3 cases, and 8 screen protectors!
Amazon has quite a bit of stuff for the Max already; I am still trying to find a desktop dock for it, and then I will be a happy camper!

I was eying the new htc one m8, however the ugly black bold bezels are a deal breaker for me... I am eager to switch to the G2 however should i wait for the sony z2 to be reviewed? So i'm confused between the G2 and Z2.. One thing that annoys me though is the non expandable memory on G2.. Also the G3 is around the corner, is it worth a wait?? Thanks

Six months is hardly around the corner. If you wait you'll be waiting forever, if you need a phone now, get it.

Honestly I think the G2 is worth every penny. So if you are looking to get a new device soon, I would highly recommend it.
Of course, if there is no hurry, there is no reason not to wait for future devices. If you absolutely must have the latest of the latest, then I suppose waiting is an option, but if you want a high quality device at this time, the G2 is an excellent option!
I had a One X, which I killed... Argh. In between, I had a Nexus 4. But from what I recall, you're in for a shock with regard to battery life if you decide on a G2. I just clocked 6:30 screen on time and I'm at 10% now, plus a day's standby and this is only my first charge cycle. I considered myself lucky to get 2:30 out of the One X!

I had and loved my Note 3 on Sprint but we switched to ATT and the G2 on contract for free was a no brainer. Its easy to get excited for each new Flagship with all the hype out there but honestly this is a phone one can use for years and be totally content.

I think the new gen smartphones are a let down. The HTC M8 only has a 4.7" screen and about the same size as the G2, also has a smaller battery. The Galaxy S5 also has a smaller screen and battery, but it noticeably bigger in size.
The M8 can't do 4k or 120fps camera either with its 4MP camera. The GS5 doesn't have OIS. G2 camera is better still.
Each has their own perks such as fingerprint scanner and dual flash dual camera, but I dunno. Seems gimmicky. G2 just seems to be better where it counts. Plus there is lots of development with the G2.
The newer phones are using a SnapDragon 801, which is the same chip, just slightly better optimized. Outside of benchmarks, it probably won't be noticeable. Not worth taking a hit on screen size or battery or camera for.

Why I do agree with you on certain things. I do believe some things are being worked on BETTER. Like "software" optimization for battery life. I understand that some phones are coming with smaller battery life's but perhaps its a better quality type of battery and plus better battery optimization software like HTC extreme battery save. I believe they should also work on software opt in every aspect.
As for screen size. I personally wouldn't want anything bigger than the lg g2. But that's me.
But hopefully for the next lg g3 I would Like to see the rumored specs: own Odin 8 core proccesor, 16mp better ios, 2k resolution t" display, maybe SD card slot, bettttttttterrrrrrrr software ui and optimization, finger and iris scanner. Etc. That phone I would get!!

Can anyone tell me about that Optimus UI, because, from what I have seen it reminds me on Touchwizz which I personally dont like. So I'm thinking about taking Nexus 5 or G2 and I just can't decide. Currently, I have Galaxy Nexus and I like it because it's easy to root and bootloader is easily unlockable. But on the other side I really like g2's big battery and bigger screen. So, if anyone could comment me about Optimus UI and what's going on with G2's bootloader :beer: ( I've done a lot of googling but still haven't found anything useful) Tnx in advance :thumbup:

Like others have said, G2 is a good phone to own, especially if you are content with having it stock. If you're into custom recoveries & roms then it's a bit of hassle in G2. A small mistake or even if there's no mistake in flashing, it can go into an eternal bootloop that's damn hard to recover from. If you are flashaholic,my advice: go for phone that has plenty of development going on.

Yeah... I don't see many people with your issue up here.
But for the OP, the G2 isn't bad if you're happy with mostly stock KK and can deal with the button layout along with an okay camera with OIS.
Otherwise, evaluate your needs. If a great camera with high megapixel counts is needed, look Sony Xperia z2, or maybe the Galaxy S5. If different ROMs are what one craves, maybe a Nexus or GPE device. Removable battery? Samsung Galaxy phones. Stylus? Note 3. Metal body? HTC M8.
I jumped ship from a Nexus 4 due to crappy battery life. The screen and a decent camera were a bonus.
After playing with the new flagships, the HTC m8 is the only real option. And boringly the biggest reason is build quality

Exactly the same here. Could I have waited for a better phone like the Nexus 6 or HTC One? Probably, but my Nexus 4 battery was god awful. Charged it like 2-3 times a day and it took FOREVER to charge. G2's price was cheap at TMO and had to jump on it. Now battery lasts forever and charging is so damn fast.

Well it took me 6 months to realise that it wasn't my provider that had very bad coverage. So do people even know that they could be getting 6 bars of 4G instead of the 6 bars of 3G that the phone will choose? You won't know unless you actually force the phone to use LTE in the hidden menu (*#*4636#*#*).
It also seems that I am not alone, because I am not the only one who made a thread about it in Q and A and you will find a lot on Google. But you won't find a solution.
