Access music player without unlocking - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running slim bean 4.2.2, I have a corporate email account that requires me to use a pin lock. Is there any way of accessing the music player without unlocking every time, for when I'm driving.

Ok after much messing around I've found poweramp will bypass the lock screen, also I don't know if this is a bug, but you can completely disable the pin lock in profiles. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

If you are looking for a solution without rooting + flashing a rom, you can use WidgetLocker, but personal experiences tell me that it's best to stick with the stock one.

I'm rooted but no custom rom as of yet

There is nothing currently unless running a custom rom. The pattern lock is tied to the lock screen unfortunately. Widgetlocker does work but I was getting the stock one pop up all too often while using it. I probably should of contacted the developer but never did.
I am in the same boat as you. Use the pattern lock but don't want the lockscreen. What I'm doing currently is just dealing with the stock lockscreen but using WiFi unlock so when I am at work/home both are disabled (no need for me to have pattern lock active unless I am out and about.) Just a suggestion.

Music app after bootloader unlock?

Is anyone else having issues with the stock Music.apk after bootlader unlock? Mine worked completely fine up until I unlocked. Now, it doesn't really work at all. I can see the albums that I have but that it is. I can't look at songs or anything. I figured there would be issues but I thought it would only be with things that were protected by DCRM.
To play music I have to use a file explorer and find them and then select the song but then I can't do anything else. Locking the screen or pressing home stops the music.
EDIT: I got it figured out. I had to force close and clear data. Mods please delete.

[SOLVED] Music Lag after unlocking screen

I just buy SGS3. I rooted the phone. I found that the music lag for few seconds after unlocking the phone.
UPDATED
I have found the reason. It was not lag. It is because othet notification sound (I muted my phone). If NFC is enabled, there is a notification sound after unlocking the phone even Screen Lock Sound is disabled in Setting.
Just disable NFC, everything is fine.
I have sent an email to Samsung to ask for a solution if I want NFC keep enable.

Anyone know how to bypass the activation screen? I'm trying to root and unlock a DNA that won't be activated until Sunday.
Someone recommended forcing a reboot by holding the power button but the phone just boots back to the verizon activation screen.
Thanks in advance

On a somewhat similar note, does anyone know how to get google to sync and reinstall all your apps after a wipe when you bypass setting up the gmail account in the wizard. When I do this and then add my account when trying to sign into play store, for some reason the auto reinstall of my backed up apps does not happen.

galaxy s3 major bug, bypass lockscreen

It won't unlock your phone. You can see home page for 0.01sec ....
No issue to me

I can't verify it atm but according ho published articles, one in many attempts will present you with an unlocked screen.
However no article I read elaborated on whether the issue is in the framework or lockscreen - so if it affecte the default lockscreen or any custom ones too.

It will unlock your phone and you have to reboot it for the ability to use the lock screen to come back.
I could reproduce this twice on my phone but not on a colleagues despite multiple attempts. Both UK unlocked, latest firmware.
Im running 4.2.1 leaked version and wasn't able to reproduce the bug.
It did crash my phone though
I've done this multiple times and I was unable to unlock my phone. I'm only able to see the home screen for a split second but then it goes back to the lock. I got different people to try and unlock the screen but to no avail.
Unrooted S3
same here , only shows home screen less than second , only thing you can do is click one applications but you won't even see it open. except you have quick dial widget on homescreen which will annoy your friend, that's all...

and it is not major bug , only something like SDS or Exynos security problem are called MAJOR ...

So a couple of things.
1.) you're describing the behavior when you've failed to activate the real bug. Yes it shows the home screen, but if you time things correctly, the lock doesn't come back up.
2.) Leave auto rotation on, and try landscape mode. I found it was easier to hit that way.
3.) Tapping home then power at the right time takes some practice. You may have to try multiple times.
I was trying to unlock with the settings I always have (no screen rotation,.5 animation, etc). Not going to enable them just to see IF someone can unlock my phone. Plus I took 20 mins to try and unlock it with an additional 15 mins from my Husband and that didn't do the trick. I'm not willing to try and spend hours testing to see if my luck finally kicks in

AW: galaxy s3 major bug, bypass lockscreen
Yeah, you did it wrong... Try it a few times, it'll work.... On all SIII's it'll work! If your homescreen appears 1 sec, you did it too slow!!
Greetings....

How fast are you supposed to do it then as I'm so fast sometimes it doesn't react at all.

Possible fix
It appears that this bug does not exist if you enable S-Voice by going into it's settings and checking the 'open via home key'. I was able to unlock 4 times on my GS3 while the 'open via home key' option was disabled. Once enabled, I have not been able to bypass unlock.

Yeah you must deactivate SVoice and then you must type in the wrong code until its locked for ten seconds... Then It'll work!!

Hi,
Samsung is really slow to react and push a fix on this case... On my opinion its a serious security issue and Samsung should react faster
