[Q] evo v 4g questions - HTC EVO 3D

A friend of mine uses virgin mobile and just picked up the evo v 4g. i went and htcdev unlocked the phone, installed twrp and rooted no problem. what i need to know being all my phones are gsm and i dont wanna screw up his phone. ive read through a bunch of threads and do i need to the s-off wire trick? all he wants is to run a JB rom. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Im in the process of downloading the QADERSO v2 VM zip file now. ill post the bootloader info as soon as he calls me back but the phone is pure stock ICS out of the package last month. Also any rom suggestions that are compataple with vm? or will the sprint ones work as well?
Thanks again

In order to run jb roms I had to be s off and on hboot v1.5. S off is the tricky part.

I've used both of these roms and like them alot.
FYI neither of these support 3D. You have to stick to a Sense based rom like Harmonia for 3D to work.

Do they run on hboot 1.5? With s-on? Or am I going to have to s-off it later on today

These are both AOSP based ROMS so yes you will have to S-OFF for these.
I have run both of them with hboot 1.50

s-off hboot 1.5. has it been done yet?

like the title says... is it done yet? been looking and looking for solutions to that question. i'm already rooted using the htc method. but still looking for a way to get s-off.
check the 3D general section, there are a few threads on it with varying info.
short answer though - no
There has been some effort made towards this front, with little success. Whether you think it's a smoke screen, or not, evil devnull, and his team, attempted this around thanksgiving, and couldn't come up with anything. Not sure if revolutionary is quietly working on something, or if they are waiting for the ICS update, or if they are just done with bootloader unlocking, period (I'm not bashing those guys, but they have been eerily quiet since the bootloader changed to 1.5).
The unlocked, non carrier branded GSM guys have found a way to revert back to an eariler bootloader, using the HTC unlock method, and then performing a similar method to what the thunderbolt/evo shift 4g guys did to allow the Hboot to accept a RUU with an earlier hboot.
I think this doesn't get much attention, because the HTC unlock method allows you can do almost everything you could if you had S-OFF. The only thing missing is being able to flash radios.
At this point it wouldn't make sense for devs to come up with a solution now. Not with ICS around the corner
is there a temp root for hboot 1.5?

whats ics?
The only reason why i ask is because, ##data# or what ever it is, i found my midi number using an app in market place, but when i tried to adjust my volume. it doesnt want to work. i was wondering if me having s-on and rooted is affecting it in any way.
Ics is ice cream sandwich new android OS hopefully coming to the EVO 3d early 2012.

first start here at htc dev and unlock the bootloader and when thats done install a custom recovery like 4ext and then install the su file and now your ready to flash a custom rom now thats done look in the dev section for downgrading your hboot from 1.50 to 1.49.0007 and now your ready for alpharevolutionary.io and when thats done you have s off and your hboot will be 1.49.1107

Root question.

Hi, its been awhile since being in the root scene. Last being my HTC EVO 4g.
So, I now have the e4glte. It came with software version 1.13, so I'm assuming I have the supported lazypanda hboot. But how would I go about double checking my hboot.
Secondly, once I'm rooted, where can I find the 1.22 ota stock rooted. Havnt been able to find it browsing the forum on my phone
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G LTE using xda premium
To get to the hboot screen first make sure that under Settings>Power, that Fastboot is unchecked. Power off phone then push Power and Volume down at the same time. Should pop up with the Androids skateboarding.
Now for the 1.22 software you'll have to search through develpoment, but you should know that were up to software 2.13 now. 2.13 comes with Sense 4.1 which gave us more to do with, esp the remapping ability of recent apps.
Hope that helps.

Thanks a ton, I did some more research. Seems I have the launch software, but it was nagging about the 1.22, so I thought that was the latest.
Seems I'm one of the lucky ones as I bought this phone today, and I have the 1.12 hboot and the1.02 radio.
So ill I need to do is use the lazypanda method to diff then flash a 2.13 Rom of my choice?
Is there any Plain stock 2.13 roms that anyone can link?

For the most part, yes. But it would also be good to update the firmware and radios which can be found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30865522 Make sure you obtain s-off before attempting this though.
And I tried looking for the stock 2.13 ROM but I can't seem to find it right now. If you can't find it though, I know I should have a copy on my pc that I could put on dropbox for you. Just let me know.

1.57 H-Boot?

I have the Evo V 1.57 H-Boot S-Off that's rooted and with 4Ext recovery. My question is, what ROMS are compatible with this setup. I know CM10 isn't which is fairly disappointing. I wanna flash something different so I can WIFI Tether. Thank you.
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda premium
CM10 does work with the Evo V
If you are refering to MMS not working you can find a fix Here. And it seems your on hboot 1.57 if you had read the CM10 OP you noticed you need to downgrade your hboot to 1.50 or lower. (eng boot recommended)
Im also sure any CDMA Rom will work with your device you might just have to change the APN
Okay. I understand that and thank you for the help. But my other question was are there any compatible ROMs with my H-Boot?

Most ICS Sense based ROM's should work fine with hboot 1.57. There are many in the Evo 3D development forum on XDA and some specifically designed for the Evo V in that device forum on androidforums.com.
You will need to downgrade your hboot if you want to run GB and/or AOSP based ROM's and there are instructions to do that here. My favorite hboot is JBear 1.50.5050 since it is the newest version that boots most ROM's.

I'll check them out. Everytime I tried running an ASOP Rom, it just wanted to bootloop. Drives me crazy. Thank you. Appreciate it.

[Q] What is a good ROM?

I have been looking for a JB ROM for my HTC EVO V 4G for some time now, but I can't seem to find one that supports what I have. I am running hboot 1.57 with S-ON (I once tried getting S-OFF and bricked my phone for nearly a day-spent 7 hours trying to fix it-never doing S-OFF again!). I'm currently running the epic NegaLite Blue ROM. Any suggestions?
AFAIK, you must get s off first.
Your best bet for jb look for s on, is to install a launcher, or flash a senseless rom
Sent from my Evo V 4G using xda app-developers app
Without s-off you can't flash JB rom. You have to do s-off first. That's because you need new kernel, you can't change your kernel with s-on.

I've changed my kernel multiple times with that one kernel flasher app for the EVO
Yes, it's possible with this app or maybe fastboot (im not sure), but impossible in your recovery.

You need to downgrade your h-boot to 1.4x.xx. I order to downgrade you need to be s-off

But he must downgrade anyway. So the best thing to do is flash 1.49.0007 h-boot because it's known for making no problems whatsoever

For me it's Revolutionary just because wires and small electronic components just don't go together in my world. But that's just me, a lot of people say that Jbear is easy and simple

like one of the other users said, you should go "S-OFF" first
At that point, you are free to try any hboot, rom, radios, etc.
As for me, ive tried Negolite, SmoothCriminal, PacMAN, and now Wild For The Night.
The Jelly Bean Roms (PacMAN and Wild For The Night) have by far been the ones i like best. I could not get MMS working on PacMAN so i went to WFTN and i got every feature of the phone working perfect (except for 3D which doesnt work on any JB rom at this time)
The rom really depends on what fits ur lifestyle and ur taste. i like the smooth look of a JB rom and the features of the camera.

I have hboot 1.57 and the beta key for Revolutionary is only for 1.4 and 1.3. Can I still get S-OFF with those?
Will controlbear work with mwakious ? They say it will not but I am not sure.

[Q] Evo 3D GSM (shooteru) Rom Install Help

So I am having... issues, installing ROM's.
Things I've already done with the phone:
I have installed CWM Recovery (version 6.0.0.0, touch)
Unlocked using HTCdev
have S-ON
have HBOOT 1.53.0007
Initiated a boot-loop
The EVO is currently boot-looping as a result of trying to flash a ROM. I can, however, still get into ClockworkMod Recovery and into the area where it shows the HBOOT version, phone type, etc.. I want to install an unofficial build of CM10.3, but the phone boot-loops after I flash the ROM through CWM. I have tried extracting the boot.img file from the ROM zip, flashing it through fastboot, and then flashing the ROM itself afterwards. I have also tried every possible combination of wiping Devlik Cache, /cache, /system, and /data partitions. Any tips? If it is the S-ON (I'm pretty sure it is) then can someone provide a way to obtain S-OFF without the "Wire Trick"?I don't have Ubuntu! The same goes for the HBOOT Version. I know that could also be the problem, as it is too high. If you do have a fix, then could you go into serious detail when describing it? Thank you!
P.S. Moderators, if this is the wrong place for this thread, please don't hesitate to move it.
Only sense ROMs can run on your h-boot. 4ext recovery is recomended. There is no way to s-off your phone other than wire trick. If you used search button you would find around billion threads that answer your questions

you can install senseless roms and miui but only stock based ics roms, alternative way is to do the wire trick,if you don't run ubuntu u can do it with windows with an app called controlbear.exe ,earlier I had the same problem and I just do this unlock method on windows and now I'm happy with hboot 1.49 s-off
