[Q] Custom ROM wont boot! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI
Sorry if i am in the wrong section to post. If I am, please move to a more convenient group.
I made a custom Rom in the android kitchen. Everything went through well, no problems at all. then when I try to install to my phone, it wont install and I get these errors:
One error I got while installing was: Installation Abored: Status 6.
Now I get this error white installing: E:Cant open /sdcard/primou_signed_031613_094637.zip (bad) Installation aborted.
Whats going on because I havent changed/converted any update scripts just added an apk then zip aligned it. The original roms install ok, but my own dont install when everything is set the same.
please help me. THANKS
I can upload my two custom roms for you to have a look to see if you can make sense of it. it is for HTC ONE V gsm.

To add apk's to a rom, you can add them but do not unzip the rom, just add them to the archive, let me know how it goes

I think status 6 is when you corrupt the updater-script. What did you use to update the script? I use EditPad lite.

Help uninstalling Blue_Overglow.zip + framework-res.apk

Hey all.
Been searching XDA and Google for anything on the original framework-res.apk file for the EVO3D.
I dont know what happened but after I flashed this zip from recovery, I rebooted and only see the top status/battery/timebar. NOTHING ELSE. Power button activates screen only...no lockscreen, just black screen and top bar.
Can anyone lend a hand and help me figure out if this can be reversed or uninstalled? Phone works....just cant see the screen to take calls.
Much thanx in advance.
Just download the stock ROM on your computer and pull the original apk from it. Or download the ROM you fiddled with, and pull its apk from there. You can also just try reinstalling the ROM. Or reflash it over. Just clear cache and Dalvik, then flash.
Oh and post this is Q&A next time, or the hall monitors will come and give you a ticket. Oh, and I forgot to mention a tongue lashing.
I also forgot to mention to be aware of the troll patrols. They'll troll you alive!

Thanx. Im downloading the stock rooted rom now.
The only reason I posted here was that the zip was a battery modification that for the life of me, I cant seem to remember where I got it from. Considering that it was a mod, I figured it would make sense in Themes and Apps...also figuring in that if someone who had used it as well would have knowledge of uninstall/removal.
Download's done. Will let u know if it worked. Thanx again DDiaz007!

I understand that DD. I don't plan on doing a clean install. After all, I do have a backup from about a week ago that I could restore in Clockwork as a last resort. But seeing as I have done some installs and the backup is a week old, I wanted to see if this zip can be uninstalled. I found out its from Team Xron and I downloaded it on 7/20, 5 days after I got my 3D.
My confusion gets worse now that I see that when I flashed the zip, (its contents included below) it had a META-INF file besides the .apk file. And comparing the 2 META-INF files from here and the stock Rom...they differ in size, and contents. The stock ROM META-INF does not include the RSA, SF, & MF file as does the Mod zip. Also the binary and script files differ in size.
How would u suggest going about changing it back? Should I put the .apk on my sd and push it using ADB? OR create a zip with the Stock .apk and META-INF and flash it in Clockwork Recovery as I did initially?
META-INF / CERT.RSA RSA File 1.7 KB
META-INF / CERT.SF SF File 382 bytes
META-INF / MANIFEST.MF MF File 329 bytes
META-INF / com / google / android / update-binary File 249.9 KB
META-INF / com / google / android / updater-script File 196 bytes
framework / framework-res.apk APK File 3.0 MB
creating a zip with the Stock .apk and META-INF and flash it in Clockwork Recovery was unsuccessful.
"Installing Evo 3D base rom 1.0

"installing kernal...
assert failed: package_extract_file("boot.img. "/tmp/boot.img")
E: error in /sdcard/download/xxx.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted."
Although I backed up in CWM....think im just gonna restore back to last week. If i get a wild hair and some good tech support from Xron, I might flash back and troubleshoot again. Oh well....

I flashed a battery mod from Xron and the screen was black all for notification bar on top. Trying to "undo" that. Ive extracted the framework-res.apk and the Meta-Inf folder from the stock rom and tried flashing. Not recognizable in CWM Rec. I used the original signed .zip and replaced the contents and the results are in my last post. What else can be done?

That updater script is trying to install more than what you have in the zip. Your best bet would be to push through adb
Enter-
Adb push (your framework-res.apk) /system/app/

[Q] Where can I fine the Update.zip ?

Hi Guys
Well I rooted my HTC DHD today and when I go to recovery and try to install Update.zip it tells me this:
unzipping............
opening..............
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
I tried to look for the file to rename it but could not find it
I mounted the device on PC also tried to find it but could not......
What should I do can someone help???
I looked in to the forums but it did not help that much...
What do you expect update.zip to do? Are you trying to flash a different ROM?
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
If you don't mind explaining what does this file do?
I am installing it coz its one of the steps to Root your phone

It depends. Update.zip files are/can be created by apps for many purposes. Some allow you to install the app via recovery. Others are kernels, etc.
N.B: It's not needed by all devices doing the root process.

Why have you modified the theme the green bounce-effect, that fat scroll-indicator and the "froyoish" pop-up menus?! Can you upload the animations without the modified theme!

Confirmed, but I don't really see any difference that makes this worth to try, I'm reverting back.
EDIT
Reverting doesn't work, I ended up in bootloop, yeah... I guess, the revert package is not optimized for CM7a7 yet... Applied the original update.zip, bootloop is gone.

I noticed in cm7a7 animation package that there is settings folder and file in there. But in revert there isnt that folder. So.. i think problem is in that file. Maybe manually delete it, than go recovery and apply revert zip. I will make update.zip revert of my current framework etc and than try later if that works. If you want you can try method with manually deleting than recovery, and inform me..?,

Sorry, but I just reflashed the ROM this morning, after messing it up last night, I'm not in the mood tweaking right now. I also have to study for exams... :S
Perhaps after I finish my exams, I don't know, maybe dev will correct the revert package also in a day or two.

Error in /sdcard (Status 0) Installation aborted

I'm trying to install a mod from the online kitchen but all i get is:
Error in /sdcard/mymod.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted
Even if i make an other rom, install an other version of CWM or SU or when I try to install it from the internal sd it gives me the same error.
I also tried to flash a different kernel, but no succes.
Any suggestions?
Flash a new CWM and Root kernel.
jje
you might have a corrupted download, redownload the mod.
tried both, didn't work... I also tried to rebuild the mod but still get the error.
I can flash other other zips through cwm...

strong suspect is your zip file containing the mod. did you try toggling signature verification?
Are you trying from Kitchen or from CWM..
Place on int.SD and flash manually from CWM,
if other files are flashed then definetely CWM is preventing you afrom a wrong flashing...
i've tried to change my batteryicons with this guide and that works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434061
But i want to do it via the UOT kitchen, because i want the lockscreen mod too.
This is what i did:
I've uploaded framework-res, twframework-res, systemui and applied the battery mod and the lockscreen mod, nothing else. Then I clicked submit to kitchen, downloaded the zip and flashed it to my device throuw cwm, and i got error 0.
Should i try other scripting in UOT?
maybe i'm stupid but can it also be that i'm on stock rom (rooted) ics 4.0.3 xen lp7?
Hey,
If you check their official XDA Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
You will notice (In the second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12049814&postcount=2) that it is only compatible with Froyo/Gingerbread Roms.
You can't use it with ICS mate, and this is probably why you are getting the error while trying to flash it.
and what about this line:
Battery mod for ICS roms (NEW!)
i also tried to do the battery mod only, but still get the error
same problem with u
