Seen that max in kernel seems to be 1.6.
How much can it be overclocked ?
What kernels support higher clocks ?
I think RAGE supports 2 GHz not sure if it's for active or not....but ya why does max bother you....just don't oc above 1.4 GHz(though i don't recommend oc at all) if you don't want to burn the CPU of your phone...

Odp: Max overclock Active ?
On my phone I overclocked it on 1,6ghz without any reboots. Try it
Send from SK17i by atomic wind powered by CM7.
When I played in GTA VC on my LWW i must overclock my CPU too 1,6GHz to try play normal. About 10 minutes later game crashed, and my phone has reboot. Maybe it was foult my memory card class 4. GTA III works fine on 1,3GHz. For me in casual using it`s nonsense to overclock CPU cause you lost battery very quick.
You might not face any reboots but still I'm just advicing not to go beyond 1.4 GHz(again I don't oc at all)....rest is upon you
Press THANKS if I helped,

I tried asking this in the Megatron-thread but as usual, no answers...
I am a little worried about keeping my phone overclocked at all times, so I was thinking about downloading SetCPU and switching between 600 and 700 via that app. But my question is this: Megatron ROM overclocks the phone by default. If I download a 3rd-party app to overclock/underclock the phone, will this mess up the whole system?
Anyone? Would really appreciate help!
i've been using megatron & setcpu together for the past month.. no issues yet, so cant promise ma phone wont go up in flames i clock extra if needed
Ok, thanks!
My Experience: USing LOL rom with default OC gave me kernel panics ...so instead i disabled OC in ROm and wud then OC using SetCPu...ALso I dont know why but touch feels a lot more smoother on LOL rom with the lag fix than megatron....so i switched from megatron to LOL...Currently even with maxCPu 480Mhz and conservative profile..touch is very smooth on LOL

How do I disable the OC in Megatron? By adding the "minitron" file and then using SetCPU?
Hi all,
I'm a newbie in Android world. Successfully flashed my O1 to Megatron v1. Afterwhich I tried installing SetCPU to it and overclock to 806mhz & above. However, after overclocking with SetCPU, the whole phone's performance became more sluggish than the original Megatron 729mhz...
Someone please advise me on how to overcome this and make the phone speedier with high frequency.
Is there a way to edit some of Megatron's kernel to make it 806mhz on default even without using SetCPU?
Don't use set on boot feature, it will make ur phone get stock on bootloop...
So can someone tell me how to proceed with this? I want to be able to change between 600 and 700, when I please. Thanks

Got it! Tried last night without set on boot feature. Working fine with 806mhz and speedier than 729mhz. However my chipset refuses to go into higher frequency without freezing and rebooting... Is it due to my microsd card? I'm still using the original 2gb microsd card tt came together with the O1... Will changing to a class 6 or higher microsd card let me clock higher? or my chipset is just lemon at 806mhz?

FnH84: I downloaded SetCPU from XDA forum and can tweak the frequency between 600 & 700 by myself. Even can set profiles to govern the speed at different situations.

You are already pushing the CPU to its limit with that 806 MHz frequency. Do you even realize is 34% above the designed specs for this CPU? You're already lucky enough you got it stable at 806, and no SD card will ever make a difference, they're not related.
How come Samsung Galaxy Mini running on the same chipset offer 800Mhz as stock???
Man, I don't know! How come the same "Pentium IV" processor could come in speeds from 1.3 GHz to 3.8 GHz?
Can any of you actually believe that LG would underclock an 800 MHz CPU and sell it to us as a 600 MHz instead of letting it run at its best?
Galaxy Mini is obviously using a CPU designed to run at 800 MHz, even though it bears the same name. And that one can probably be overclocked to above 1 GHz.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking bout the same as the other guy, that galaxy ace can run at 800mhz, and why not O1.
Hmm... Isn't there any other ways to push the frequency higher? Maybe supply more voltage to the core? I dont mind sacrificing batt life, I just wanna try ways to push it to the max~~
after root... i have installed SetCpu, i have overclock my processor to 1.4ghz.. the question is, can i use this setting for daily use? is it will cause my processor hot or damage??
Every CPU is different, some can handle 1.4, some can 1.6 and some can't even 1.3GHz.
I've been using 1.4GHz max and 400GHz min, and I get about 4700 in Quadrant, and I reduced homebutton lag to minimum. Some can't see difference between 1.4 and 1.2 and some can (like me). Works just fine.

well overclocking or undervolting ur device is not recomended for daily usage as they r done only to do some benchmark tests

The higher the min frequency is the higher the chance something will go wrong.. Ie overheat, reboots

1.4 will be fine ;-)
I've overclocked all my previous androids & never had issue
OT: I was surprised that a stock 1.2Ghz ph can't go higher than 1.6!?
my moto defy is b/l locked 800Mhz @ stock & I run it @ 1.2Ghz w/o probs. 50% increase... SGS-II should be able to do 1.8Ghz on that math
Hi! I have problem with perseus Kernel If I overclock cpu a little bit, All the same the problem (If I start play game some time it will restart), it does not matter how much overclocked. I tested 1.7Ghz clock and test it For 1375mv, 1400mv, 1425mv, and it's not effective and between a perseus rom freezes lock screen and I have to restart it :S, siyah kernel will not let me even overclock more than 1.5GHz can someone help me with this problem , I love overclocking :silly:
SiyahKernel S3 v1.5 CPU over/underclock: 100-1800MHz 18-steps , GPU over/underclock: 54-800MHz ,Perfect to play , i have been using for a long time and i had never any problems ........

Okay But, why I'm not able to overclock 1.8GhZ its show me 200-1.5GhZ I tried overclock stweaks, cpu master, set cpu, and Foxhound extras but not help I try flash siyah again If that help.. Block story max settings eat really MUCH performance
I'm not even able hit over the 1.5GhZ and it show me 25-1.5GhZ (((
Anyone?
Anyone know what I do wrong if I'm not able hit 1.8GhZ?
yes,, your cpu isn't up to it, simple. With overclocking make small steps, note what you are doing, experiment with voltages, but all chips are different so experimentation is the only way, along with lots of reading and learning, skill aided by searching

okay But why this perseus give me overclock more than 1.5GhZ But Perseus is so buggy :S and I can normally overclock Gpu with siyah kernel but If I run test I am not note difference, 1 better fps for 700MhZ GPU Clock My Phone is so strange

you have to understand the fact that the kernel is in alpha stage, so if you dont know what you are doing you shouldnt have flashed it. and also all chips are not capable of handling higher frequency, 1.6 ghz should be asafe bet for all processors..
700mhz in siyah makes a big impact depending on the benchmark you run.. check the thrread in my sig for more info.
Thanks all for posts! I figured it out, I give more juice for all these steps for perseus alpha And not anymore reboots. 1.8 GhZ 1450mv 1.7GhZ 1400mv, 1.6GhZ 1350mV, 1.5GhZ 1300mV, I run now 1.7GhZ for dual core mode, I'll try soon run my phone quad core mode . But I can't overclock my gpu with perseus and siyah rom doesn't give me overclock more than 1.5ghZ DD so strange Ps: 1.7 GhZ Dual core My Cpu score is 8123 and memory 5538 on quandrant benchmark.
Edit: If my phone a little bit overheat it reboot same thing is 1.6GhZ, 1.7GhZ, 1.8GhZ. 1.6GhZ I run stability test about 1-2min and it reboot, Battery About 41 degrees Celsius :S
Why in the name of all that is holy would you overclock your CPU, and then run it in dual core mode??
You would be better off leaving it at 1.4ghz in quad core mode.
That seems pointless.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glPp2ORTvFo&feature=youtu.be Sorry for poor video my video editing software doesn't working But If I run test about 1 min device reboot My video will not be saved if it shuts down so I had to stop Stability Test before a turn off.
I will do later in the evening siyah kernel video for overclocking problem
Me and my friend were benchmarking together (we both use MiniPro). I use Serenity ROM and my friend uses MiniCMSandwich ROM which is based on AOKP and has overclocking option in the ROM Control. I'm using AnTuTu CPU Master to overclock mine. In AnTuTu, the maximum value for overclocking is 1.6 GHz while in MiniCMSandwich ROM Control the option is up to 2 GHz. My friend just wanted to test the 2 GHz (our devices are working fine under 1.6 GHz) and suddenly after he picked the option, the phone shuts down automatically (gracefully, fortunately). Though he finally managed to get everything back (by quickly changing the overclock value back to normal at boot), we're still curious. How far can we overclock this device?
It depends on the kernel you are using. Normally our device's kernel allow overclocking up to 2Ghz max. DO NOT overclock your device unnecessarily! It will eventually fry your central processing unit.
Hit thanks if I've helped.

Don't overclock above 1.3 Ghz.... Unless you want your device to be fried..... Performance at 1.8 Ghz is practically same as at 1.3 Ghz... ( Not talking of benchmarks ) .....
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
1.3ghz performance is the same 1.8ghz really? yeah im not talking about benckmark
coz theres a game that force me to use 1.4ghz. using stock up to 1.3ghz will produce stutter sound in my case (have tried in st17i n r800i)
i dont feel any heat it produce by overclocking 1.4ghz coz i undervolt it. my device only getting warm when i plug the charger n thats normal i think
Hi everybody.
It would be nice if someone could make Kernel/Rom with possible GPU overclock.
By my knowledge in Xperia P is Mali-400MP with 1 (i find somewhere 2) core fragment with default speed 200Mhz.
In older SGS2 there is Mali-400MP4 on stock 267Mhz.
Is there a way for safe overclock Mali GPU in Xperia P to 267Mhz or maybe 240Mhz?
Best regards
no, not yet, and maybe never.
it will only gives problems (battery drains much faster, phones become very hot etc.)
NovaThor chips are designed for low power consumption, also overclocking the Cpu the heat produced still low.
I think that the biggest problem is the driver of chip and its documentation
mali 400 stock Frequency min 240 max 395. why give problems (except for battery )

it will give problems for sure but on some heavy games our phones needs gpu overclock
Overclock only turn your phone to heater and energy eater, no to lamborgini
PS:sry for my bad english
If not overclock, atleast governor control? And I/O too if thats possible?
Is this possible atleast?

max overclock on my s2's gpu is 520mhz (wid custom kernel) bt it requires 1350mV .. sufficient enough to make a fried omlet...
being an ex xu user.. i have found no game (atleast among what i play) which ran properly on s2 bt not on xu.. extra cores gives better benchmarks real life perfomance is games is almost similar...
