Nope...if you start flashing roms and playing with this kinda stuff get used to factory resets...not trying to put you off but when you start getting into roms ect..the benefits outweigh having to redo your phone. Its a pain and it always seems like once you have your phone just the way you want it a new rom or something comes out. Just do a nandroid backup in recovery that way if you don't like it you can revert back to the way your phone was setup the way you had it. That way you always have a backup.
Try titanium backup. It'll let you backup your settings before you wrote your phone.

Don't listen to him. Never restore settings. This causes a lot of problems. You can do it for Apps, but not the Apps and their data. That sometimes causes problems too.

Eclipse is super clean and super fast.
Well there's very few things that im worried about losing but my calender (pure grid calender) is one that I don't wanna lose.....I emailed the dev and asked if there was a way to back it up so im waiting for an email back on that.....I have my apps backed up via titanium backup free and sticky notes I can just write down or something.....I ran minimal x immediately when it came out so I have some experience with Rom's but no where near calling myself a pro.....so with eclipse will I flash it the same way as I did with MinX?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
I use Pure Grid Calendar... have for over a year.. across the D1 and the X2 I have flashed my phone so many times I couldnt even begin to make up a number.... NEVER.. lost my calendar info. Its synched into google. Auto restores when you go thru setup after flashing the ROM

Is that a setting in pure grid or something?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
no, pure grid, if you will remember, asks you on setup which calendar you want to use. By default, its set to the google one. SO, you set your phone up and the calendar syncs.. then you install pure grid again and it grabs the already synched google calendar.. thats all google.

Apps and data across updates to these rom has always been fine. Going across versions (froyo/gb etc) has been known to causes issues, as well as settings. The settings issue is widely accepted as a way to introduce bugs. You'd know this if you'd been flashing roms for longer than a few weeks.

I don't want to start a whole thing here...yes titanium is a great program but i have run into problems with it not restoring properly and causing some problems. I always prefer to just do a fresh install if im backed into a corner, but Titanium works great but i ran into some issues with it not restoring settings/accounts causing FC and ghost email accounts that could not be removed. Maybe its just me i used it a couple of times and it worked but it just didn't seem like a clean restore for some reason. Again just giving opinion here not trying to start anything...**Opinion Only**

Nandroid is seriously best thing u could EVER do before flashing or at any point for that matter. If there is ever a point where u say damn I really like how my phone is righteous now. Wish I could get back here if something ever messes up. Then just go into recovery using system recovery app and make ur nandroid. I keep em on external sd card cuz there's more space for plenty of em. And then I use root explorer and rename or add on something to the name of the backup so I don't forget which one it is when im restoring it. When u male a nandroid it automatically puts the date and time of creation as the file name.
Trust me. Nandroid will save your butt on occasion if u flash ANYTHING. Its awesome to just press restore and presto your right back where u were.
Not a TB fan here... just a personal preferences...
Best way I've found to get back up quickly is... having the rom auto download your apps and when its done, go into recovery and do an advanced restore. Then choose data only. That's assuming you made a backup of course.

Would it be too much to ask for someone to walk me thru flashing this?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Check the stickies.. theres instructions for flashing stuff... also, just so you know, the Eclipse ROM is not one of the ROMs that auto downloads your apps. You will need to do that yourself then do the data resotre.. if you are going that route. If you are using TB, you can restore it all but.. I dont use it so I have no clue how to do that.
I came from Clean ROM 3.7 to 4.1 tonight and so far it is working great, only question is that my "google play store" keeps force closing. It will work fine for 10-15 min then it won't work again until I clear the cache and data for the app and start all over again.. Anybody experience this or have an suggestions??
Thanks

I had the same problem when I was messing around. Personally I think it has something to do with restoring apps using TB. I don't know if this is recommended by people who know a lot more about Android thn I do but I fixed it by uninstalling the Market with TB and then restoring a backed up copy in TB. Maybe give it a try and see if it helps. The copy I had backed up might not even have been from ICS but everything is fine now!

Hopefully people are taking a look at this thread, if not I'll start my own, but is anyone having the issue of MediaScannerService starting at start up and keeping your phone awake? Any thoughts on how to fix this issue? I know to just go in and end the process every time I start my phone, but it's annoying.
Thanks,

Here's another possiblity, I've used MyBackUp Pro forever. I used TB when I first got my EVO 4G but once I found out about MBP I've used it on my 4G and 3D. It's not 100% flawless as some apps don't backup well. I've always had problems with Soundhound and Netflix to name a couple. Those always are fresh installs. If you have rooted your phone they have a free version if you wish to try it. Just an option for you.
TB is definitely the issue. I did the same thing, I tried to restore a few apps instead of downloading fresh copies, and Play started FC'ing until i deleted the apps and rebooted.
Play worked fine after I deleted what I installed from TB. Just FYI

I suggest flashing UnNamed if you want a stock rom feel & look with a few extra benefits.
Also ShoStock but its more beefy with nice additions but still stock base.

Well I am talking about Gingerbread though.
This is a really weird problem. I started to notice it around last week, but considering I never really turn my phone off it must be explainable.
Whenever I turn my phone off, it won't turn back on unless I reinstall the ROM. Which is extremely odd... Anybody able to think off an explanation?

Originally it happened on Flappjaxx ICS 4.0.4 (Stock/Rooted/Deodexed) and I thought it was that ROM's problem, but I switched over to Objection ROM and it is happening there as well.
Weird thing is: this never happened when I was on Gingerbread, or even noticeably a few days ago. I don't know why this is happening.
Hmmmmmmmm try flashing stock Rom thru odin see if it works then redo flash of Rom
"Since God created man, and man created the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note are like a gift from God, Randal!"
Could I do that but instead of reinstall, I'd do a CWM backup? Or would restoring CWM negate what I did with odin?
Its quite an obnoxious issue having to reinstall everything, especially when the phone hangs, considering most people restart by taking out the battery.

Calm down. Back up wit titanium. The odin stock. Then root again. Then flash rom. The titanium restore. As long as cwm backups are on your sd which they probably are you can restore you nandroid backup instead after you restore stock firmware.

I had problems restoring saved WiFi access point data on my Nexus S when going from Gingerbread to ICS. If you're up to the challenge, you can easily open the backup in a text editor. If you hadn't set the backups to be encrypted that is.
Then on the GS3, with WiFi off, copy and paste the values into the following file:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
You can use Root Explorer or something similar. If you run into any issues, just go ahead and delete the file. It'll get recreated automatically on reboot. Good luck!
