Is it normal that??? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it normal that the 4. plus builds are more unstable that the 2. plus builds?? For example:
The 4. plus builds are giving me this problems
Short Battery life
Slow Data Speeds and Weak signal Strength
Weak WiFi Signal Strength
Force Closes in a lot of apps
Lag's and bugs
The 2.plus builds for me are more stable and i do have more battery life, more data speed and signal strength, really good WiFi Signal Strength, little to no apps force closing And little to no lags or bugs, the only thing i don't like about old builds is that you cant access notifications like on the 4. plus builds from the lock screen.
What do you guys can say about this???

Yes, this is normal. You have to realize that our phones were never built to run anything higher than gingerbread. It's amazing that our developers got ics up and running so incredibly. It's equally impressive that they also managed to get jb running on our vibrant at all. But jb will never be stable. Stick with ics and lower.

Can you tell me one of the ICS builds that is really stable and good? cause i have a couple of Gb ones that im always using and i love them but you know when you have the chance to play with higher system builds your always gonna try them.

In my opinion dont use any ICS rom as you might end up with the Encryption Unsuccessful bug....which takes ur internal memory into coma...and then you cant access it..i have also been ****ed up by that bug...so limit yourself to gingerbread or less....its better

Otherwise use SlimICS....small,stable,basic,<3able

jb is stable

rom recommendations?

Just got my tab 10.1 last night at best buy.. a little disappointed in the slightly laggy interface.. amazing can't just buy an android device that works slick from the getgo! .. anyway I was looking at all the roms and not sure where to start. I don't need cutting edge.. max overclocking beta rom that's possibly the fastest.. but would like a nice solid smooth running rom with hopefully good battery savings.. the paris one was the one I was considering trying first but if anyone has any suggestions let me know please.
Check out Task650's in paris 5 works quite well imho
Thats what i use.

Yeah try In Paris, and use pershoot's kernel. This thing fly's now, and i wouldn't trade it for all the iSuck devices in the world
definately in Paris v5. If you overclock to 1200mhz the battery life is still fantastic, drops off a couple of hours at 1400mhz.
Agreed. Go for in paris, I have little to no homescreen lag now. And if you like the standard TW look just apply the stock theme in second post.
There aren't many, really. Give them all a try.

But I recommend either the rom in my sig or task & phantom's extreme stock.
Hi all

If you're rooted with a custom kernel I think 1.92 is the fastest so far.
I'm running at 1.83. Smooth, fast, and bug free. Da_G's OC/Root kernel.

Same here. 1.83 and no issues so far
By the way I didnt flash da_g's root kernel originally, I used the system one. I'm not sure I can use that kernel?
i OC as well running 1.86 give or take
runs great but i have noticed my battery dies really fast , may be how i have it set up , but i noticed from 6am to about 6pm today it was about dead , down to 20% with little use , no calls just email and so on ,
so i need some tips on how to set it all up , but other wise it is nice in , running 3700+ on the qud test !

Purchase juice defender ultimate, it will help your battery life considerably. I'm not sure what the current market price is but check the amazon app store too because that's where I got it from when it was on sale or something.

Yep, got mine set to 192 - 1.83 Ghz via System Tuner and Da_G's OC Kernel. Running super smooth.

Initial review and impressions of jelly bean on EVO 4g LTE.

First of all, as we all know jellybean focused a lot on making the UI as smooth as possible.
After installing the ota jellybean, I would say that it does feel smoother, but not buttery smooth like ios as some people suggest. When I look at the rendering speed or fps, the homrscreen UI for the most part renders at 60fps with occasional dips at 52fps and 40fps.
The stock browser's performance has also been improved. The browser on ics scores at about 1.25k in sunspider which beats every android device on the face of the earth that had similar specs; even some beefier phone such as the international gs3 that have quad core cpu and nexus 4 that has s4 pro quad core cpu.
The jellybean further improved the score from 1.25k to now 1.07k. It also feels more responsive as opposed to ics where you have the occasional lag.
An example would be like this link where there is tons of images (note: make sure to load it in desktop mode)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...id-games-from-the-last-3-weeks-112012-121212/
The keyboard in my opinion is a lot more responsive. On ics there are instances where you select an empty line on the screen and the keyboard would take time to appear. On the otherhand, jellybean seems to solved that problem as it is almost gone and the keyboard pops up almost instantly.
It also seems that vsync is enabled at kernel level as games are locked at 60fps (note: I did disable hw overlay to measure fps). Games that could hit 60fps would become smoother. For instance, on my previous Rom which is meanrom 6.4 with beast kernel, although on paper, the game has very high fps but due to the screen limitation in which the LCD could only display 60 frames of images/sec, you would notice that games hitting higher than 60fps would make the game look stuttery/choppy because the screen is not refreshing fast enough to display the image. On jellybean(can't comment about stock ics), that problem is solved through vsync.
That is my mini review of 4.1.1 jellybean

Does taking this update relock bootloader and unroot? I am also a mean Rom fan and would love to see Mickey make a mean Rom patch for jelly bean. So in your opinion is it worth the wait or should I update now?

If you're S-OFF, you will stay S-OFF, but your bootloader will relock.
Not that Quadrant matters but for reference I got the highest numbers yet and being bone stock

CM 13 vs ParanoidAndroid

Hello everybody.
I was wondering which ROM is working currently best with our device, cm 13 or paranoidandroid?
I looked around but could not get to a conclusion.
Thanks.
Try something fun like Xosp or DU.
Thank you for your answer.
As long as they are reliable for daily use and battery friendly I am all in
I vote for paranoid. Its really good. Have no major issues, everything works fine (but it doesnt have a lot of features like other roms)
If you are planning to use dual sim feature, Paranoid android NetworkSettings has not yet coded correctly for using dual sim. You will end up in, no voice over calls and low internet speed. For using single sim it is perfect.

What is your experience with zephyr? I saw there is a new update...do you notice it being smoother because of Uber? The one thing that I miss the most on paranoid is layers and zephyr has that..

It is pretty smooth. Maybe a tad more than PA. I do prefer PA though because of the optimisations and stuff like that. Maybe I can convince them to switch to Uber or Linaro
thank you all for your answers.
i think i will go for paranoid android for the moment and see how it works out...
any installation instructions?
I respect your decision but I think you would of really liked DU.
Maybe then I will try both and decide later

Androplus vs Zach's Kernel

Can someone who has tried both tell me about the difference between the Androplus and Zach's Kernel?
Which has less bugs? (I'm prob most concerned about GPS and Camera)
Which is faster/smoother?
Which has better battery life?

Zach's is experimental kernel. So every update brings some different that might effect on battery life. Camera and gps should work similar for both kernels. You can say that androplus should be more stable as zach's is experimental kernel.
Yes I am aware that Zach's kernel is experimental thus it should be more stable.
I was looking for more specific experiences from people who have tried both.
What instabilities have been noticed in Zach's vs Androplus?
What features are available in Zach's that aren't in Androplus?
FauxSound in zachs which is nothing short of awesome if you like music and have decent modded sound lib files...
Seriously the stock headphones that came with my z1c and pureperformances audio mod paired up with some tech niiiiiine and some days I'd be pretty much deaf after 20 minutes listening but the audio would still be CRYSTAL clear

Other than that I have no idea as my effing bootloader isn't unlockable (yet, I hope) looking forward to how this pixel forced unlock bootloader hack pans out for other devices, I know it's a HTC device and for some reason theyve pretty much always had an option to force "something" to allow bootloader unlocking I just wish someone could do it for our Sony!
