Help Flashing CWM - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Just rooted and unlocked bootloader. I have TWPR installed but it seems that I need CWM in order to flash AOSP roms (?). I tried to flash CWM via Rom Manager and also through TWRP but when I reboot recovery the screen flashes and then goes dark. Tried multiple times. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Just update to the latest TWRP version.

TWRP, especally the latest version, will flash all the roms. I've used nothing but it since it became available and I've flashed every one of the Gnote 2 roms for the 605.

[Q] No wifi or radio e970

SOLVED: Used TWRP instead of CWM to flash.
I flashed [ROM][KRT16M] AOSP Google Android KitKat 4.4 GEEB [Nov.2] using CWM and my ATT LG e970 has no cellular or wifi now.
stock rom rooted and unlocked using freegee
backed up stock 4.1.2 using cwm
I went into recovery and cleared system cache and dalvik cache.
flashed the rom
flashed the gapps
flashed SuperSU
rebooted and saw 4.4 launcher.
tried to turn on wifi and did not work.
no cellular signal from ATT either
I tried rebooting it and it displays the stylized android logo for greater than 2 minutes before the screen flashes and boots into the lock screen still without wifi or cellular.
help.
EDIT: I was digging trough the thread and it said that CWM6.0.3.8 had conflicts with SuperSU that led to no service
I restored my nandroid backup and my phone works fine.
What can I use to flash [ROM][KRT16M] AOSP Google Android KitKat 4.4 GEEB [Nov.2]? TWRP and how do I get it? Trough ROM Manager?
Use TWRP instead of CWM.

Yea, I guess CWM is my problem. I flashed Houstonn's stock PA and it had the same no cellular problem. I will try to install TWRP and flash instead.
Thanks.
EDIT: How do I install TWRP using fastboot? I installed CWM via ROM Manager and that was easy, but I can't find a working installer for TWRP. How do I install using fastboot command from my PC? Do I need to install anything?
EDIT: Installed TWRP
Well, I installed TWRP 2.6.3.0 using fastboot from my PC.
Did backup to external sd card.
Flashed PA and BanKs 4.3 Gapps.
Factoryreset/clearcache and cleared dalvik before and after every flash.
Now my camera works, unlike before when I flashed on CWM 6.0.3.8 where the camera would just crash. "About Phone" now shows the phone's IMEI.
Unfortunately I cannot get service. ATT is detected but it is stuck on registration.
There is a version of twrp that acardinal posted in his slim bean 4.3 thread (they're testing a 4.4 skim bean alpha), it's recommended for v4.4...not sure if the updated twrp is recommended or required. Might be worth looking into.
There is also an updated boot loader in Houstonn's 4.4 geeb thread...don't know if it'd be of help or not.
At minimum I'd bring up your issue in Houstonn's thread. Maybe one of those folks has seen your issue.
Have you tried flashing any radios?

Thanks for the help. This time, I used TWRP instead of CWM to flash and then I rebooted the phone a couple of times and it now works fine.
Guess it was just CWM causing issues with all my rom flashes.

CWM Will only install CM11 - Official ROMs Abort

I have Phil Touch 6.0.4.5 CWM installed.
I put this on to try CM11. Didn't like it so re-flashed the the latest official ROM and its been running fine for a while now.
Theres a new official update out I wanted to try but flashing via CWM it says "Installation aborted".
I then tried the older official ROM and this too aborts hower CM11 installs fine.
Any ideas? I am Wiping ROM and clearing Cache.
You cannot flash official updates with custom recovery. You need the stock recovery for it.
A word of caution. The new OTA update most likely has knox. If you plan to try out other custom roms, refrain from flashing. If you are only a stock rom user, flash away.

Thats odd. I could have sworn I reflashed the official rom using CWM.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Can I still enter standard recovery having CWM on there or do I need to reflash via a standard recovery via odin?
You need to flash one using Odin. If you have a flashable recovery zip file, you can replace the recovery image in the zip file with a stock one.

[Q] Help with root Sprint N900PVPUCNC5 !!!

Hello,
I followed this post to root and install TWRP recovery on my Sprint Samsung Note 3. The root procedures went well, showing rooted successfully. However, I installed TWRP recovery using GooManager, and also tried installig through Odin.
It shows that TWRP recovery is successfully installed, but I am not able to boot into recovery. The phone seems to try to boot into TWRP for ever.....
Later I read this post, which says that Do not try on Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware!
IS my issue due to my rooting and installing TWRP are based on 4.4.2 (my phone is having new NC5 OTA update)? How shall I do?
Thank you very much for your helps!!!
Did you fiqure it out

You should be suing TWRP 2.7.0.1 and do not use goo manager.. Go to their site and click on the alternate download.. I do believe TWRP mentioned they disable the goo manage download because of issues.. Make sure you are also choosing the right phone.. I have choosing the wrong phone more than once.. Also when your done flashing in odin, and you reboot into recovery manually, make sure you wait until you see the line about recovery, before you release the 3 buttons, or you will just boot into your desktop.. Also you can use TWRP on KItKat firmware as many have done so..

can't install custom recovery??

about a month ago I tried to change to a new ROM on my sgh-i717R model note which was already rooted running TWRP and a custom ROM that I had installed quite awhile ago. I did not realize that TWRP had to be updated to a newer version to use the 4.4 ROMS and the update failed and bricked my phone. I managed to fix it and put back a stock Rogers 2.3.6 ROM and it put back the original samsung recovery. The problem now besides being on an old ROM there is a lot of input lag using on screen keyboard, so I want to try a new custom ROM to see if it fixes things, but when I try to flash a new recovery with Odin (TWRP 2.8.0.0), Odin tells me that everything is good and it passes, but when I then reboot my device and go into recovery mode afterwards, it is the same samsung recovery mode with only the custom binary download counter incremented, but TWRP is nowhere to be found... I have tried with several versions of TWRP and it is the same thing.

yeah it was unrooted, but you cannot root without putting the custom recovery first.. Anyways I solved the problem, for some reason TWRP does not work (even though I tried all the versions specified for quincyatt and sgh-i717) but I was able to put on CWM no problems and re-root with superuser from there.

I know this thread is a couple weeks old but I thought I'd add something that I have found that might help if someone else has this problem.
The only way I was able to install the new version of TWRP was to install the old one first while rooting the phone then download the new versions .zip and update it via TWRP. I was able to get the new version working that way and now I am able to flash any rom I want with no issues.
Hope this helps others.
