My wife just got a LGOG last weekend and has already gone over her 2gig limit. I checked the apps and it was all Google+ she didnt even have it setup, I deleted it just to make sure it wouldnt do it anymore, I couldnt figure out what it was doing. I did check here google drive, nothing is in there and there is only one photo.

I found this topic over here at the Atrix forum.
I copied/pasted the below quote from the Dropbox forum here.
Hi everyone!
Even though the holidays have passed, we're really stoked to give you guys one more present -- a new experimental release! Under the wrapping you'll find a bunch of new toys, including a brand new Camera Upload feature. Here are the release notes:
• Automatically uploads photos and videos in the background using Wi-Fi or data plan
• 500MB of free space on first photo uploaded automatically
• Upload files of any size (no more 180 MB limit!)
• Support for resuming file uploads when there are network issues
• Various performance improvements & bug fixes
During this beta period, we are also offering additional free space to test automatic uploading of photos and videos. For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you'll receive another 500MB space bonus, up to 5GB total (including the initial 500MB space).
[Update: this space is not separate from 5GB given for uploading on our desktop clients. Uploading from either desktop clients or Android app will count towards the same 5GB free space.]

Since there aren't really any good instructions on how this works I figured it might help to share what I had to do to get the free 500mb
First either download the apk from here. Or get it straight to your phone from this QR code. Both of these links can be found at the Dropbox forum page here (http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=53013).
Once you have the app installed either fresh or over a previous install. Open it. It should take you through the setup as if it was a new install rather than an update. Once the setup was over the app went to a new screen and showed my photos and videos being found and then it began to upload them.
I haven't had a chance to steal the Nook Color from my daughter long enough to try it out on it. But I expect it to work just fine. I'll go ahead and share my Atrix story below. It might or might not happen on the NC. If it does just shut down and restart. It should be cool after that.
I did have an issue when running it for the first time on my Motorola Atrix. I went into my settings while it was uploading. When I went back to Dropbox. The app did a funky crash, force close. Then it got interesting. The app opened and wanted to start all over, then closed, then opened and began a loop of that that would not close or allow me to get to settings or anything that would help. I had no issue when pressing the fingerprint button and then choosing to shut down.
After it restarted I went back to Dropbox. I had to log in, but other than that it is running just fine. No more weird loops, fc's or strangeness of any sort so far. And I did get my 500mb right away. I did delete the photos that I tried uploading from my pc earlier and it didn't act like I cheated or anything.
Now hopefully no one minds if I put in a shameless plug.
If you don't already have Dropbox and want to try it please consider using my referral link(http://db.tt/LbHgKOa). Using my referral link gives both you and I an extra 500mb of space when you sign up. It is free!
If you'd rather just go straight to the Dropbox website it is here. http://www.dropbox.com.
Also if anyone else wants to post their referral link below I don't mind at all. We should all go for the max space allowed.
I didn't feel like putting 1 million pictures on my Nook so I copied a few HD movies from my computer into SD Card/DCIM/screenshots and renamed the file to look like the pics around it and then I changed the extension to .png and let it do its thing. I now have 5 more GB of space.

yeah. Box has 50gb, but my data feels kinda locked there (no batch DL for free accounts). And the 100mb file limit severely limits its usefulness.
I've upped my account to 7gb so far. Trying 8
Hi everyone I was wondering how to activate my free 50gb from dropbox?
I download the app and logged in with my account but it still shows that I have 2gb of storage. Thanks in advance for your help
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
My understanding is that u only get the 50gb free space if it came pre installed on your device. Since u had to download it, you do not get 50gb. Only 2gb
Just watch for deals on dropbox website. I didn't have my drop box preloaded on old phone but they had a deal if you did like 5 out of 7 things it updated to 50gb for free. It was things like upload a picture to your account, send an email to invite someone else to Dropbox (i sent it to my alt email address and it counted) add dropbox to a PC you own. It was things like that and you needed to really involve no one else to get the 50GB free.
Maybe they don't do that anymore but I'd just keep an eye for it.
Did not apply for the Verizon S4, I had them tell me personally when I sent a message to support.

i did something similar to this the other day. 5 out of the 7 tasks were performed, but it only increased me from 2gb to 3.25gb. each task gave you like 250mb or something. still better than nothing, but 50gb would be awesome.
well, I did this with dropbox like 6 months ago maybe? so maybe a xmas/december deal? idk
Don't get too excited - it doesn't last
Don't get too excited about your 'FREE' 50 Gb of storage at dropbox
IT ONLY LASTS FOR 2 YEARS. In DropBox look in settings - account tab - 'view all space earned and you will see.
So by that time you have become dependent upon it and you lose your free allowance and drop back to 2 Gb.
Is that why it is called drop box !?
So you have gone through all the hoops, introduced friends as required ( and they HAVE to join to see the shared folder that you HAVE to provide.
You have installed it on another device that you HAVE to do.
I am going to stick with my free 15 Gb on Google Drive together with 1 Tb ( yes ONE TERRABYTE ) on Flickr for all of my 22500 pictures.
OK, so I don't know why but Google Drive and my DNA have never gotten along on a smooth basis. I turned off the setting within Drive when I first started using it so that it wouldn't automatically upload all my pictures whenever it wanted as well as at random times and well it didn't listen and would just sit for hours trying to upload anyways. So I'm back trying it again because I need to downsize the amount of pictures and videos that I have on my phone. Well, I select all the the pictures in one album that I want to upload and go thru the process and all I get is a slow almost non-responsive phone and no uploading. I don't understand. I'm not uploading a ton of them at once. And I've tried dropbox as well and it is the same if not worse. So I'm stuck.... What can I do, or what are some suggestions??
Do you have WiFi?
Should be a lot faster with that. You can always do the USB cable to a computer, sign in to the cloud service you want and transfer the files that way. I think G Drive over mobile is pretty cumbersome.
Yeah, I'm on wifi at my work and when I'm at home I'm on wifi. I just don't get why Google Drive is the way it is. I have however figured out a little trick to getting stuff upload from my phone. Pretty much what I've figured out is that they took away the icon in the upper bar on the screen that tells you it's uploading. That's why I didn't think it was uploading. The way I figured out that I was actually getting things uploaded was by shutting my phone off for a few minutes and then turning it back on. Once I did that I would check the Drive app and see my pictures there. I also logged into it on my computer here at work and saw that they were there a few times that I would have liked but I can always delete them from Drive later on. It's a bit of a pain to keep power cycling my phone but at the moment I'm able to get a ton of pictures off my phone and onto Drive so it's worth it for the sake of freeing up space.

I use it all the time, both up and down. No issues
My phone went crazy today with battery drain... losing about 20% an hour while I was doing nothing with it. I finally figured out it was Google+ uploading my media to the cloud. It went through 2 gigabytes of uploaded data before I turned off Auto Backup.
The one thing I did this morning that I think might have caused this is I installed QuickPic and started using it instead of the included gallery from Samsung. Though I'm not sure why that would make G+ think every single pic/vid in every folder on my phone and the external sd card was new and start uploading them again... and even if it did, doesn't Google do some kind of CRC check to make sure the file hasn't already been uploaded because if they don't it's going to suck when I move to a new phone but copy over all my old media and G+ decides to upload a 3rd copy of all my pictures.
My questions: 1) How do I stop G+ from backing up things that have already been backed up. 2) How do I clean my G+ Photos in the cloud to get rid of all the duplicates. There are thousands of pictures uploaded so I really don't want to do it manually.

Well, I guess to stop the G+ from backing up things stop the the backing up function by heading over to the settings>account manger>Google account and under the Google account shut the sync photos option off. This will stop the auto backup function and in order to clean the G+ photos I am afraid but you need to clean this mess manually i.e one by one ! So, this time take the help of the PC/Laptop then manually and remove then one by one at a time. Lastly "Wish you all the best in taking out with the cleaning process" :cyclops:
Thanks. I had stopped G+ from backing up for the time being but I want to turn it back on once I figure out the duplicate issue so I can continue to us it in the future. I guess I'm wondering how Google Plus decides if a pictures has already been uploaded or not?
It's going to suck manually deleting all the duplicates already on plus.google.com/photos. I have over 7,000 pictures in there and the best I can tell from my G+ app on the phone, it recently uploaded about 3,000. My google fu isn't very good though because I can find no way to sort them by date uploaded or anything. It'll be a nightmare scrolling through all of my photos looking for the duplicates.
Hi everyone!
So the inevitable has happened- a viruses infected my phone that my boyfriend soley uses. I knew viruses existed on Android but I didn't know to what extent.
The phone is a Samsung S5. It is NOT rooted.
My boyfriend was watching 'adult' videos and he has his phone set so you can hold your finger over the screen and not actually touch it to select things (IMO i think that feature is stupid! ). Anyway, While watching a video his finger hovered over one of the banner/block videos that are along the side of the actual video you are watching for too long he guessing and inadvertently selected something. He doesn't recall actually seeing anything download though.
Unfortunately because he likes to download some programs that require you to select in your settings to allow downloads from untrusted sources, he just always leaves that option selected. (Not smart).
He took screen shots of what happened next. I've included the screenshots he took in this post.
At this point his phone was frozen on the screens that popped up. He tried turning it off and on again but once back on the screens were still there and were stopping stopping him from doing anything on his phone. He didn't know what was going on and called me at work. Immediately I knew he had infected his phone, a similar type of virus was huge a few years for computers.
I didn't really know what to do so I suggested doing a factory reset. I figured he must have inadvertently downloaded something, and factory reset would get rid of everything.
When I came home from work he told me he did the factory reset like I said and the pop up screens that were preventing use of the phone were gone but he still thought he had a virus because his contacts were all messed up, they were very old and none of his newer contacts exsited (Im not sure where he got the backed up contacts that he did manage to get back...although they are mostly useless.). As well there are a lot of things missing, over 2000 pictures on the SD card have disappeared along with movies, documents, music etc... Almost 32gb of stuff!
I plugged the SD card into my computer thinking maybe his phone just wasn't reading it properly because the phone did show the SD card and you could view what was on it, but almost everything was missing.
All of the photos/videos were backed to his Google photos and they are all gone! The only thing there now is what is left still on his SD card. Checked Google photos trash and it says nothing was deleted.
His SD card is 32gb and use to be almost full, but now it has 27gb free!!!! Where did almost 27gb of data go!!?? And the approx 5gb of data left is just random stuff that I highly doubt would use up even close to 5gb...
(I just learned while typing this, that he was able to get most of his pictures back from Facebook, so nothing was removed from Facebooks backup)
I researched this for hours and I'm pretty sure this is a type of malicious Ransomeware Virus.
I think the virus is gone due to factory reset... Could I be wrong?
As for the missing stuff, my guess is either the missing data has actually been removed by the virus OR its still on the SD card but encrypted by the virus. (Which means it'd also be compacted?)
If it's still there but encrypted how can I find the encrypted files and unencrypted them.
Thanks for reading! Hopefully one of you will have an answer.
Cheers, Rebecca
This looks like the standard ransomware. I would look to see if there is one out there for android. I'm not sure there is a true version. What I mean by this is it locks out your bootloader. Can't be done on stock Samsung. So I think it is gone.
Now when you say he did a factory reset are you sure he didn't wipe the card by mistake?
The contacts sync with Google and what most likely happened is that have been saving to phone memory and not to the Gmail account. Which he most likely signed into after the factory reset.
As for the back up there should not have had anything that could remove them from Google pics.
