[Q] How does Motos Sleep Mode work - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello,
I’m interested in Motos Sleep Mode.
I did a little research and searched in framework.apk und framework.jar from stock-rom (ics).
I was able to locate the sleep related strings:
<string name="global_action_sleep_mode">Sleep</string>
<string name="global_action_sleep_mode_description">Low power, instant on, wireless off</string>
<string name="global_action_sleep_mode_dialog_title">Sleep Mode</string>
<string name="global_action_sleep_mode_dialog_message">"Sleep Mode places device in a low battery consumption state. When device is powered back on, it instantaneously turns on and brings up all previously running applications and services. Sleep mode can be safely used on Airplanes as all wireless connections are turned off. To exit sleep mode, press and hold the power key."</string>
After that I searched for references in src files. The only ounce I found where in R.java from framework.jar.
Where can I find the onClick action, does someone know?
Why do I do this? I want to have sleep mode in cm10.1 too.
Regards

It was one of the things I miss after updating to the new Verizon OTA.

[Q] Disadle forced power consumption

I get annoyed if i have ten minutes of battery life and I am forced to go without music and video. Ten minutes before that, you get a repetative power consumption warning dialog. Any way to turn this power limitations off?
Vibrant with eugenes 2.2
SGS tools has some of the codes built into it which would allows you to change some things. This code:
*#*#4636#*#*
can be used to get some interesting information about your phone and battery. It shows following 4 menus on screen:
Phone information
Battery information
Battery history
Usage statistics
Otherwise I think you would have to go into the kernel and remap that setting.
not much help but a start.......

[Q] Power Saving Mode keeps changing my settings

So I have set my power saving mode to come on at 30% and for it to disable everything except wifi. The problem is that after I charge my phone back up, those settings remain disabled even though power saving mode is turned off, so I have to manually enable them each time. Is there a way around this?

What ROM and kernel is on your phone?
If you enable user specified power saving with your customized settings (30% battery => shut down everything accept wifi), and you did not disable this power saving mode, when exactly is the power saving mode disabled?
As soon as you plug in the power cable?
And is it not re-enabled automatically, after pulling the power cable out?
Sorry, but I did not exactly understand your issue.
"those settings remain disabled even though power saving mode is turned off" => Yes, that's correct. If the power saving mode is turned off, all power saving settings should be disabled.
This sounds to me like "normal" behavior.
Maybe I misunderstood something in your description.

I'm on stock 2.3.3 and KG2
And I meant that these settings do not revert themselves after I finish charging the battery. For example, at less than 30%, my power saving mode turns off syncing. But once I finish charging my phone back to 100%, the syncing is remained off, so essentially, my power saving mode never really turns itself off even after charging.
I noticed the same thing - it's very annoying to set my screen timeout to 2 minutes, and when power-save mode comes on, it gets reset to 30 seconds and stays there.
I ended up turning off almost all of the power-saving features, and setting the threshold to 5%. I'm running the stock rooted kernel with NoCIQ, so I already have a pretty substantial battery life (~24-30 hrs with normal usage and wifi at home).

Have a look at MyProfiles app from the Market.
Maybe it can help you to switch between different profiles based on system triggers.
Or use AutomateIt app to define rules when to toggle wifi, bt, gps, etc.
Just worth a try...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I kinda want to get to the root of the problem here as opposed to installing an app to mask it. Does anyone else know what's wrong with my phone?
There's nothing wrong, that's just the way it works, it change your setting when activates but doesn't change them back.
I no longer use it, since I have GPS/wifi/BT disabled unless I use them anyway.

[Q] how to keep the wireless on while the screen is off

yes! it works even the free version.
Like this i can download file all night long!
advanced wifi lock disables sleep.
sleep policy is disable wifi when sleep is triggered.
sleep is triggered when hitting power button regardless if synching or uploading is going on ignoring sleep prevention mechanic thats build in many apps.
most android devices are build to only put screen off when hit power button leaving sleep on untill not used anymore.
advanced wifi lock is btw huge batery drain you won't notice extended batery life improvements from 4.1.1 if you gonna use advanced wifi lock.

Not true. If you enable the option "disable wifi after period of time" (it isnt named exactly like that), wifi is automatically switched off after 20 mins of afk and the tablet goes in to sleep mode.

wifi won't turn back on then not sync for hours unless turn tablet on and turn on wifi.
and will interfear more with syncing stuff that way then not having advanced wifi lock installed.
no idea whats causing it but i don't have advanced wifi lock turning of screen does't put tablet in sleep anymore.
have no apps running and custom homescreen apex launcher.
wifi has been on for 2 hours non stop

If sleep is being prevented should wake lock detector not show this ?
apearntly google+ was uploading file in background which has ability to prevent sleep, and if sleep is not triggered wifi stay's on.
so guess wifi working fine now as long apps that upload files or sync have ability to prevent sleep.

[Q] JB 4.2 Deep sleep severe Issue

Hi folks,
I am searching for several days for a deep sleep issue solution, but i can say i am completly stuck.
My phone: Star B943 quad core MT6589, linux kernel 3.4.5, JB 4.2.1
At the phone start, deep sleep mode works fine, but as soon as i receive an email or SMS, the phone will never go back in powersaving mode. Just as if the service crashed and the phone still "Awake".
I've tested several solutions and apps:
- Deep Sleep Battery Saver: Failed
- One power guard: Failed
- Powersaving tweaks from Pimpmyrom: Failed
Of course i've checked if a service or apps aren't involved in the problem, but there is nothing. I've checked with Betterbatterystats, wakelock detector...Deep Sleep mode just crash and never restart . And we are a several people in this case...
i imagine the gotosleep void in powermanager can't do his job
"public void goToSleep (long time)
Added in API level 1
Forces the device to go to sleep.
Overrides all the wake locks that are held. This is what happens when the power key is pressed to turn off the screen.
Requires the DEVICE_POWER permission.
Parameters
time The time when the request to go to sleep was issued, in the uptimeMillis() time base. This timestamp is used to correctly order the go to sleep request with other power management functions. It should be set to the timestamp of the input event that caused the request to go to sleep.

userActivity(long, boolean)
wakeUp(long)"
Thanks for ur help, if you can
So i found that the powersaving is managed by the kernel, and by some files in /sys/power. I have autosleep (set on OFF) and some others: wake_lock, wake_unlock, wakeup_count, wait_for_fb_sleep, wait_for_fb_wake.... This last ones are very difficult to open. Wakeup_count is totaly buggy for example. The others are stuck the most part of time, except after restart. This files could be the source of the probleme ?

Has anybody else tried to use 2 SIMS?

Permanently disable power saving mode

Hey,
So I find if I go to settings > device maintenance > battery
I keep switching the Power Saving Mode to OFF
Just seems way faster I expect due to the CPU not being limited. Its wonderful without the CPU limiter!
But it keeps setting itself to Mid after a few hours have elapsed. I can't find any settings to control this.
Any ideas? I essentially don't want any of Samsung's power saving at all. I'm happy with Greenify and LSpeed.
Update, found a setting that restarted my tablet every few nights. Turned that off and the power saving mode is sticking
