Xperia RAY
Currently running Gingerbread 2.3.4
My phone is locked to the network o2UK and the bootloader is set to LOCKED
I've tried to unlock the bootloader but in the services menu it says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: NO'
My question is, how would i get the bootloader unlocked or are there any 'work arounds' to get root
Thanks!
okay, first... rooting n unlocking bootloader isn't same... root can be done to locked, unlocked, bootloader status : no and bootloader status : yes...

Yes, and in the time it took to write your thread you could have found them by googling or browsing the general section.

Hello!
My ray's bootloader is unlocked via testpoint method and now i want to re-lock it as i need to give it to service center for softkey repair.
Is it possible?
Thanks. :fingers-crossed:
first google before posting here man, if you unlocked bootloader via offical method there is a way to unlock it but if you unlocked it using testpoint method the bootloader unlock allowed says yes so technically according to sony your bootloader is locked so there is no method to relock it if you unlocked it with this method
Hope i helped

Sorry brother i searched a lot but just found a way to relock it if you unlocked it via official method, so i made a thread.
I will ask to delete it as soon as i get the answer.
So should i give it to service center just after flashing the stock rom & kernel?
You sure there is no way to re-lock..
I'm afraid as why the RESTORE button is there in s1tool?

I would like to Unlock my Bootloader, but I'm simlocked, so I have BL Unlock Allowed = NO
If I ask my carrier to simunlock my phone, my BL Unlock Allowed will turn to YES ? And I'll be able to unlock normally on the website? Or are there special steps for me?
Or I simply can't unlock my phone at all?
Thanks in advance
Sim unlock has nothing to do wid bootloader unlocking
Unfortunately ur xperia will have a locked bootloader till it lives

You need to dial this *#*#7378423#*#* Then go to Service info>Configuration then read Bootloader unlock allowed, it will say yes or no, if yours says no you cant unlock your bootloader even if you have sim unlock.

I though you could unlock the bootloader if you didnt have a sim-locked phone. So what/who dictates whether or not a phone can be bootloader unlocked then?
Its unrelated to simlock, but your carrier is the one who made it un-unlockable. Its a shame unfortunately many of us are in your boat

If you can't unlock it on the Sony dev site then no, there isn't an alternative bootloader unlock for the XTZ at this time. Hopefully there will be one in the future.

People are working on a way around this but it will probably be some time before a public release. I wish all android phone manufacturers would not lock bootloaders android is all about customizing
