[Q] Use Samba Sim as wifi hotspot - 7 Mozart General

Hi.
I've debranded, installed updates and unlocked my HTC Mozart and I was hoping to use internet sharing so that I had a mobile Wifi hotspot.
I have a Samba Sim and dongle which works fine, but when I put the sim into the HTC Mozart - I get no network connection.
I understand that I couldn't make voice calls using this combination, but is it possible to use it as a mobile Wifi hotspot?
thanks

[Q] Unlocked phone but no service, will wi fi work?

If I purchase an unlocked phone (lets say Motorola Atrix) from Amazon and don't purchase a SIM from any provider, will the phone work over wi-fi?
In other words, if I am traveling overseas, and use the free wi-fi at a hotel etc., can I get emails and make phone calls over wi-fi and skype or do I need a SIM for the phone to work?
Thanks
yes. wifi works regardless of the SIM card. That is how I used my atrix (with an old SIM that didn't have service) until I got it unlocked
You can use GrooveIP to make phone calls over wifi via Google Voice (no sim). I can confirm it works on the Atrix.

[Q] Getting mobile hotspot working on Orange UK with Jelly Bean

I have read posts from many other people who can't get mobile hotspots to work with Orange UK, but I can't find a solution. Has anybody else?
The problem is that when I enable the mobile hotspot, it turns off after a few seconds and prevents mobile internet working on the phone at all. I understand it is due to Android now allowing carriers to differentiate between tethered and normal data. Tethering is allowed on my plan, so it should work.....
Orange UK's call centre were completely hopeless.

AT&T HTC One wifi hotspot does not work with overseas sim card

AT&T unlocked my HTC One so that I could use another sim card when traveling overseas. I was able to use my HTC One for voice and data, with the Mobifone sim card in Vietnam; however, I was not able to turn on wifi hotspot; when I tried to turn on wifi hotspot, I got the following message:
"To enable wifi hotspot, go to attwireless/..., or call 611"
This is the same message that I got before I added tethering to my AT&T plan. Any idea how I can re-enable wifi hotspot?
Thanks.

You must first unlock your bootloader and root then install a ROM like ARHD only then you can re enable or use wifi hotspot.

Dual SIM: One for Wi-Fi hotspot, the other for all other apps?

I am the proud new owner of a Motorola G4 Plus 32GB running Android 6.0.1, there seems to be an update available, though it will not update from here as there is no Wi-Fi, therein the reason for this post.
My personal Vodafone SIM that has 4G most of the time, but with a 15GB limit, and I have a work Three SIM, that rarely gets 4G, but I have confirmed with my employer has no limit.
The SIM settings have an option to select which SIM to use for mobile data manually, but what I would really like to do is use my work SIM for when I tether my laptop to my phone using the Wi-Fi hotspot (which is often where I live at the moment), and my personal SIM for all other apps on my phone.
Anyway to achieve this?

Using wifi calling over android hotspot

I have no reception at work, so I have another phone (with a different company's sim that does get reception,) set up to be a hotspot for my main phone.
I want to use wifi calling so I can make and receive calls with my own number, but it says "not registered on network" when I try. Wifi calling DOES work on my regular home router so I know that it's the hotspot's fault.
I spoke to my carrier and they said I should make sure certain ports are open through the router - the hotspot phone is rooted if that helps.
