I just dropped my phone right on a rock yesterday and the screen is cracked. I see two different replacement parts online, one called an LCD Screen Replacement and one called a Touch Screen Replacement. Which one do I need? The top glass part of my screen is the part that's cracked. I'm pretty sure underneath it is fine
Edit: You can see both products on this page under "You May Also Like": http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-evo-4g-lte-lcd-screen-replacement.html

You only need the Touch screen replacement, which is the glass

The lcd and the glass are glued together so you would need to separate it.

$150 to asurion and you can get a complete replacement.

This is a good deal and I would jump on it if I was the OP. I got mine from etradesupply and paid ~100 shipped. Yes, indeed, you might only need the glass part. however, as it was posted, it is glued to the touch screen part, good luck taking it apart without damaging the touch screen, and good luck gluing it back together.
This is how my touchscreen came apart (I had one complete with digitizer and lcd ready to go, but I decided to try and take them apart just to see if it's possible).

Don't forget to get some glue for the touchscreen/digitizer assembly to the back of the internal case/skeleton part. I didn't use any as I thought there was plenty left on the skeleton part, and while my screen isn't anywhere close to falling out or not functioning properly, there is one corner that sits maybe 1/32nd of an inch higher than the case, so it does look goofy...

I just got a free tempered glass screen protector! I had one of the sp that came with the sgp rubber cases. And it started to peel. So I contacted them, and they said they would send me a replacement. Well I check my mail 2 days later I get this. Which is today when I got it! I can't believe they sent me this for free!

It's good to know there are companies that care about their user-base and do things like that. If every company was like that, the world would rock!

Yea. That was very nice of them. How do I put this thing on? Lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Its actually very easy. Before you actually lay it down be sure you have the ear puece hole and bevels lined up. Lay it down and apply medium pressure with one finger in the center and watch it adhere. Be sure the surface is clean as can be before yoh apply it and wash your hands

I'm looking to replace the back cover, housing, and whatever this circled portion is called. Anyone know? I've looked at the mid-frame and it's not it. The raised lip of it.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Oh maybe I read it wrong. I thought it was actually apart of the digitizer, and those aren't looking pocket friendly.
Yeah I was looking at getting a broken one and fixing it but passed on it. I got my note for $225. Already unlocked, in the box. Could use a back cover, the housing. The phone looks great, but I'm just picky.
Ah crap. Looks like I'll have the remove the screen from that section via a heat gun. Oh well.
Yea that's a pretty good deal......and for the housing part.....getting that digitizer separated is going to be a b***h even with a heat gun.....

Yeah it wasn't too bad. Since I plan on keeping this one, I'll most likely just get a a case for it and call it a day.

After looking at the power button under light I can see a ton of very small scratches, I have only had the phone for two days so it seems a bit crazy. Anyone else see similar scratches on the powerbutton/IR?

Same here, but nothing bothersome personally. I don't find myself being bothered by it too much in the future

I'm simply pointing out what I'm experiencing with my new phone and noticed that no one has really mentioned this. I know it's not a terribly serious issue, but that doesn't give you the right to be an ass.

Are we really discussing micro scratches on a tiny black piece of plastic that cannot be seen?

don't bother that, if you can not keep it in pouch all the time, scratches will be more day by day. just let it go.

I took my phone out of my pocket and it looked as though the glass was separating. It's not cracked and wasn't dropped. I have it in a crizerlite case so it is protected. Anyone ever see this happen? If it's the glass I will just replace it with a new glass. I just wanted to make sure I get the gorilla glass and not cheap eBay knockoff. Links welcome!

It had one but no this is under the glass. It's very weird, I have never seen this and have owned many gorilla glass devices and I love my s4, don't want her all sick and stuff!
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Hmm, maybe it was left out in the sun and the glue adhesive loosened up?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Never done that either, plus it's only about 40 degrees here now. 26 at night brrrrr. I am going to replace the glass and go with that just seems like the glass is coming apart like it is laminated or something. Really odd.

I figured out that it is the glass separating from the black backing. I have never seen this happen, I know I'm hot but dang. Didn't think my body heat would cause that to happen. Haha.

I ended up breaking the digitizer in my s3 and had to pay the 100.00 (asurion) anyway to get replaced on top of 40 for glass I never used. Fell free to try but takes lots of heat and time "TAKE your TIME".

This fell into my lap during frist time assembly. Can anyone give me a pointer?
It has fallen off the slot where the charger plugs in. It sits on the back part of the case and helps it's quite self evident how it fits due to the curve. My one did exactly the same

It will go back in easily. I held it in with a few drops of CA and accelerator/kicker.. Never to come undone again..

HaHa It took me a while to figure it out too. When I popped the two half apart it fell on the floor. I thought I broke it, but I finally figured it out. It fits like a Lego piece I think.
Heh I threw it away didn't know what it was.

I hate when i buy something new and something falls off... sadly, i usually throw it away too after a very small amount trying to identify the piece.
