Went and bought one and not sure if I like it. Im super picky about cases on my phone, to be honest I really dont like em, or screen protectors. I love the look and feel of the bare screen. Thinking about taking off the front built in screen protector from the otterbox. Has anyone done this or have suggestions for me about em. Its the first one ive ever bought.

You can just push it out. Keep in mind the screen protector helps keep the plastic part rigid so it may feel wobbly afterwards. Many people do pop it out though, I learn to live with it.

Na I hate it too. Actually took the case off tonight. Screen protector just kills it for me. If it stayed flush on the screen I would love the defender case
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I have taken it off of all of my otterbox defenders on all my different phones, around 6 in the past 3 years, and I have never really had an issue. One thing I would reccomend is is you want to keep the glue that holds the screen protector on, just in case you ever want to put it back on, you should put it in the freezer. It makes it peel off without taking the glue with it. If you dont ever want it back on then pop it off and get some rubbing alcohol and a toothpick to get the glue that will still be stuck off.
On another note, if you end up not liking the defender you might wanna check out the Urban Armor Gear case for the Note 2. I just got mine a couple weeks ago and its really nice and has protected my phone quite well.

I have always loved Otterboxes until my S3's. The On/Off button was fine before putting on the Otterbox but after it was put on the power button would barely depress and when it did you had to press so hard that the screen would flex. When I tried to take it back and exchange it since it was defective, or so I thought, and found out that that is the way it was meant to fit. .... Needless to say I was very unhappy, when I contacted Otterbox to see if there was anything I could do about it they pretty much told me to f off....
I tried the defender for the Note 2 and the problem didn't seem to be there on the Note 2's casebut after all that it made me never want to deal with them again. I still miss my commuter and defender cases. Maybe when they go on sale I will get one...
Anyway, I am happy that you like it better with the built in screen protector gone

if you don't want the screen protector built in with the defender, why not return it and get the commuter?
I picked one up from newegg for around 30$ and love it.
I am loving the commuter, it comes with optional film, ive dropped my phone many times with no issues. The defender was just too bulky, and stuck to pockets with all the exposed rubber material. I also sport an x-gear voyager 2, had one on my s3, and my GN2 with no proximity issues or loss of screen/pen sensitivity.
P.S. voyager is available on ebay for cheaper direct from xgear. (Free shipping and home buttons)
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium HD app
I did that with the one I had for the s3. It does feel a little floppy without it on the phone but as soon as you put it on it feels the same. The way I did mine was ro pit ot in the freezer for an hour and let the glue harden. Then it will literally just push right out.

I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol

I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...

I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow

I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

I've got the otterbox commuter, it's good protection without being to massive.
I went with the Defender case. I removed the screen from the case and installed one of the Xtreme guard screens on the phone and am very happy with the look and feel of the phone. It may seem like a bit much, but after breaking my first phone in under 8 hrs - this was the best fit for me

That's odd. I have a mucheasier time pressing the buttons with the case on rather than naked. I am loving my commuter. I don't exactly care for the way the screen protector is smaller than the face of the phone, but i guess that is about the only way to do it with the curved edges. I can honestly say that I hate the curved edges after trying 2 other screen protects and they will not stick.
I went with just the 3 pack of cheap screen protectors -- they do the job and you can easily replace them, and a flexible silicone case (the thin ones) because they absorb impact better than a hard case. It keeps the phone low profile and protected.

One thing I quickly discovered about Diztronic is that the opening around headphone port is pretty small. The chord I use in my car doesn't fit but smaller headphone and computer speaker jacks do. I will try my full-size headphones today at the office.
We've had this phone out for about 4 months now and I was just wondering what screen protectors you guys are using, post a link of where you bought it and personal opinion about the protector and any other helpful information! I've been using this cheap protector for such a long time, now it's time to see what's really out there!:good:
Mine is built into my Otterbox case. I forget which model, I'll have to look for you, and I absolutely hate it. It's raised very slightly off my screen so I have to press down a with a little more effort, it hinders my typing speed. I'm planning on taking an exacto blade and taking out the screen protector and using one of the regular ones, but damn it I always get air bubbles

You have an otterbox defender. And I'm considering doing the same thing. I'm thinking of getting one of those "wet apply" screen protectors to avoid getting bubbles. I might just get a ghost armor next time I go to the mall.
I'm sure I'll get **** for this but I really do love the invisible shield.

I wanted a ZAGG invisible shield, as I had one for the HTC EVO V 4G and it was the 1st screen protector I used, it was great quality. I searched everywhere and could not find one for the DNA, only 1 store on Amazon had it and it got bad reviews. I decided to go with the Armor Military Grade one. Had it on for a couple days, so far feels just as great as the ZAGG.

I use this screen protector on mine and I love it. This was my first screen protector where you need to apply wet and I haven't looked back since putting it on. It doesn't take away from the display and fits perfect and is easy to put on. I ordered mine off amazon and got it cheaper than 12$ at the time. I also got a lifetime warranty on it so if it gets too worn down I will just get a new one. Deffidently the best one I have found so far.

Word! I can't stand the feel of screen protectors. The feel of the glass in way better. I treat my phone like a baby, and sit in an office all day. I guess if I were out in the field I might put a protector on it. But this is the whole point of all this high-tech glass, to make them virtually impossible to break or scratch.

Glass is glass. It will still shatter with enough force (not that a screen protector would save it from that). But even still, small particles of sand and rock and such can still easily scratch the screen. Don't believe its scratch proof when its scratch resistant.

It does. I have had that case on my phone since day 1. The only problem I had with it was, you had to press down harder for the screen to register whats being pressed. I got used to it though. It may have just been mine though.

I highly doubt it's just yours. I have multiple defenders for various iphones laying around here and you have to press down a bit harder on all of them(especially if there's a screen protector already installed). If there is a screen protector on yours, I would remove it.

No cutting needed. Simply push on it from the front and it'll come apart where it is glued off. Really easy to do.
I keep a ghost armor on my phone so the built in screen protector is really awkward. I'm actually trying to sell mine because of it haha. Otherwise it's a really solid case.

I removed the cover and now I love how the case feels. The extra screen protector was a little bit of an overkill but I love the case now that it doesn't feel like I am using a resistive screen. The other issue with the extra screen protector was it was hard to use the capacitive buttons on the phone.

Screens do get scratched and you must need a protector.
Sent from Galaxy Note 3 SM-n9005
I wouldn't say it's easy to scratch the screen. It is possible though and it's much cheaper to replace a screen protector than a screen. Sounds like you were using a cheap plastic one. I'd recommend you look into a tempered glass protector which will not compromise the look and feel of the device compared to plastic protectors and you certainly won't have any problems with the protector being marked with the pen.

WOW... I have been using one for 2 months now... never scratched it. PLUS you can get a new one for the price of shipping from them as they are lifetime.
I recommend a screen protector with ALL S view cases. they tend cut into the screen at mid point. Temper glass should be better. Get one with smooth edges though.
