Question about S-Off and warranty. - HTC Droid DNA

Hi all, I've had my DNA since launch and its had this very odd WiFi problem where it keeps turning on and off randomly. I've tried to fix it by running those special WiFi fix apps, custom roms and kernels, but nothing has fixed it. I've RUU'd my phone back to stock and my phone says LOCKED, however it still says S-Off. I was going to go to Verizon today to get a replacement because the WiFi is un-usuable on this phone. Is there a way to get S-On or will they even care? Thanks.

I'm about to do S-OFF myself then RUU. Because I want to get mine to say locked again. I've got to goto Verizon and get a replacement, my sim slot keeps having issues. I hope all goes well by doing it the way I'm going to do it...
I'm also nervous about the S-Off being there when I return it

They won't even care.
But there is a way to get s on(its a single adb command iirc) that you can do if you really want to.
And as far as your Wi-Fi problem. Have you tried a different router. I have 2 routers at my house. On one of them it drops out constantly while on the other I haven't ever had a drop

I have an IP lease issue with one of my access points and it causes my phone to do that. Rebooting the access point cures it so i can tell from that and some troubleshooting that it has to do with the router/access point/device connection process and a certain time period. Just haven't had a chance to look into it.

wifi Error

after the latest update which is 45.2.7MB855.Sprint.en.US was shown in system updates, i installed the update but after updated my wifi wont turn on, it says error everytime I try to turn it on.
Note : Im using Photon outside US running GSM, I dont this this will make any difference right?
Actually it is the problem haha. When the phone turns on, it searches for a sprint network even if u set it to gsm only. And for some reason if it doesn't find a sprint network, it freezes up the 4G and wifi radios. Only thing that worked once in a while was put it on airplane mode, reboot. Wifi works then. Have somehow got it working alongside a gsm network a couple of times by trying to contact sprint servers while taking it off airplane mode but after 20mins, phone overheats and restarts. Not the most ideal situation. So no solution yet. Hopefully motorola/sprint fix it soon

Freeze SprintOmaDmPlugin.apk and you will no longer have this problem...
Oh, and this will also resolve the Activation screen after each reboot problem...

I don't think mine searches for sprint network because I had mine activated from sprint, and phone was working just fine before the update the wifi error came right after I updated, I think its the updatethat have caused it
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If I'm not mistaken, the update resets the activation. I know I read a thread somewhere that said this. I cannot be sure because mine's not activated.
Anyway, to freeze SprintOmaDmPlugin.apk, you'll have to download Titanium Backup. You also need to be rooted...
If you're not rooted, instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217416

Hi, posting here to not create a new thread about this.
I have a Mopho and i am using it outside US, it doesnt give me much trouble after the initial loading screen "looking for network" and stuff from sprint.
I did the freeze SprintOmaDmPlugin.apk with titanium backup and it did work to eliminate the searching screen, however, the phone now never asks for my pin code, that means i cant connect to anything, i can easly turn back on the SprintOmaDmPlugin.apk but that makes the searching screen start up.
Is there anything that can be done about this?
Phone is brand new, stock everything just rooted.
Thanks.
use this patch correct wifi error
That patch does not work.
Motorola has posted the file, try reading the readme

Network

i have tmobile and i keep getting no service on top, i dont know what to do, im running ICS OTA, and i flashed the eng hboot now i cant get service.
Is that all you really did? Just flash ENG hboot?
yup, lol. it sucks, called tmobile also, was on stock and they just told me to hard reset.
How did you flash the hboot? Via hboot or some other way? Though that's pretty much the easiet.
yep. i can normally fix anything i do to my amaze, but one minute ill have 4G working next thing it reboots, and i can't connect to mobile network, I switch it on and it only says turning on... and it sticks like that. and sometimes if it reboots it just says no service. like at all. i can Tmobile 4 times now. and yet, nothing. weird.
flashing a different hboot has no effect on your signal.
yesh, i know, just thats weird. It started on saturday, and until now, like when im asleep, it'll turn off service, or it'll reboot by itself, wake up saying send report to HTC, and on top where it has the carrier it says NO SERVICE.

Just reflash a stock RUU or restore your backup if you made one, probably messed some file up by accident, somehow.
yeah, i did that. flashed gingerbread, updated to ics OTA, still being dumb.

Open the back of you phone and make sure the contacts are all clean on both the cover and the phone, then try again, if not call tmobile, it's probably a faulty device or something. Never heard of that happening, even after reflashing complete stock.
yeah i know its weird, and i had this device since november, which RUU would you recommend i flash? maybe the one i flashed like you said was faulty,
Once you flash a basic stock, you should be fine, maybe it's a hardware problem, phone fell down anytime lately?

Is your phone dropping calls? Are you Missing call or text? I doubt it, it's not that the ICS OTA made our signal worse, it's just that they finally fixed the signal itself to show exactly what signal we're getting and not just random numbers, as long as no calls are being dropped, etc. Why try to fix what's not broken?
i finally got everything working except for mobile network, my phone would reboot when i would try to refresh my twitter, i saw a thread on someones mobile network not working, im going to see there.
Do you mean your data isn't working? Check your apn settings, mobile network and data are not the same dude.
nothing was working at first, couldnt call of receive, now i can but mobile network is still buggy.

[Q] Mobile Network issues

When I first got my phone I had no problems with getting an almost constant 4g signal everywhere around my house (right outside Philly) and school (right outside Rochester) and it stayed that way up until about mid June. Now my phone does some odd things depending on the radio that it on. On the 1.02.605.6 radios, it seems like 4g cuts in and out, but isn't there most of the time, on the 2.01.605.11 radios, I have no problem getting a 4g signal, however after using anywhere between 5MB and 250MB of data, it will completely disconnect from all radios, and I have to turn mobile network off and back on again to reconnect. I can turn it off and on about 10 or 15 times before it stops working completely and I have to restart the phone. On the 3.11.605.22 radios, I never see a 4g signal, no matter what I do or where I am I cannot get these radios to connect to 4g at all. I have tried different combinations of radios, hboots, and custom/stock roms with no luck. At first I assumed it might be my back cover of the phone because I swap batteries instead of charging my phone and the back wasn't fitting as snug as it did when I first purchased the phone, but I have since purchased a new back and the issue still remains. The last thing that I can think of that it could possibly be is the sim card, but could it be the sim card if I connect to 4g with no problem on the 2.xx radio? Has anyone ever experienced any issues like this before? Does anyone else have any suggestions that I could try? Any help is greatly appreciated.

To add to this you need the stock recovery in order for the factory reset to work

This was going to be my next question, as I vaguely remember trying to do a factory reset from the bootloader on my inc and needing to reflash the stock recovery before I did.
Also, is doing a factory reset from hboot much different from using the RUU? I mean I know when you do the factory reset everything is not reflashed, but is it possible that if flashing the RUU did not fix my problem, that a factory reset possibly could? I am going to try it either way because I want this to work properly and I really appreciate the input from everyone.

Thats okay, all information is appreciated. I am thinking that it may be a problem with my phone specifically, because my dad has the same phone, and we are currently in the same Hotel room in Boston, and he is getting a decent 4g signal and I am not getting one at all.

[Q] Phone Behaving as if De-Activated after DirtyRacun S-Off

Hello all,
First post on XDA; I've been searching for this issue for the past 4 hours, and found very little. I hope I haven't missed anything.
Long Story
Had a rooted phone, tried to flash JellyBAM; worked, except that kernel got messed up (touchscreen didn't work). Problem remained even after restoring HTC Sense. I assumed it was b/c my phone still had S-ON.
After successfully running DirtyRacun on my Evo 4g LTE, I flashed JellyBAM 7.6.2 (using TWRP 2.4.4.0, wiped Dalvik, Cache, Factory Reset & System first). Everything worked fine, except that there is no mobile network whatsoever. When booting JellyBAM, it prompts me to activate my phone:
"A special call needs to be made to activate your phone service. After pressing 'Activate', listen to the instructions provided to activate your phone."
I do this, but the problem is that I get an automated message: "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number. If you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please call Customer Service."
This is the same message I get trying to make any phone call. Nothing (data, calls, etc) works on the mobile network now. I called Sprint to see if they could simply de-active then reactive my phone, but it appears to them as already activated. The tech I spoke w/ thinks I may have deleted the Sprint programming.
This sounds plausible, but what's REALLY WEIRD is that *2 still dials Sprint perfectly, and holding 1 still tries to check voicemail. So clearly some aspects of it connect with Sprint still. I have no idea what's messed up, unfortunately.
I don't believe JellyBAM is the culprit here, b/c after DirtyRacun but before flashing JellyBAM, I still had this problem.
Helpful Info
Android Version: 4.2.2
Radio Version: 1.12.11.1119
Kernel version: 3.0.73-g5d13a2c
JellyBAM 7.6.2
Question
Is there anything I can do to fix this so that my phone can reconnect with and use Sprint's mobile network? I'd really like to preserve JellyBAM, S-Off, and Root, given the amount of time and effort it took to get those working. Thank you so much, any help would be greatly appreciated.
First, try updating your radio.
I'd say to RUU back to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does then take it to Sprint and they should give you a replacement if you have the YEP. I had a similar but not so screwey situation, a few actually, like yours and when I lost all network Sprint replaced my phone. I've always had success dialing my voicemail after attempted activations and then my phone would kick back in within about 15 minutes while keep texting and calling my home phone.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help.
I updated my radio, which went smoothly, but unfortunately it didn't work. What's frustrating is that I don't even know what the problem is. I know it isn't the ROM I flashed (since it had the same problem on HTC Sense before I flashed JellyBAM). It seems to have started after DirtyRacun S-Off process.
I'm still pretty noob so I don't know what else besides radio it could be. I'm really reluctant to try and restore my phone to stock due to the amount of time I spent learning to root and S-Off it. Wouldn't want that to be in vain, though I might not have a choice at this point.
Is there something I should try next?

Before calling sprint, Google the 4g lte dialer codes, I'm sure there is one that activates the wireless reactivation process (that was the case with my old gs3)

I know after achieving S-off, I had to call Sprint due to a security issue. I couldn't make calls or anything.
It was painless and took all of 5 minutes.

Random loss of data

Does anyone experience random losses of data connectivity? Sometimes I just can't browse the internet. If I reboot the phone, then it works. Cycling the data off and then on doesn't do it. I have to reboot. I am running stock everything, but unlocked bootloader.

Stock browser quits working on me sometimes. It won't load a page, I just click recents, close it out and reload it and it is fine.
Yeah, I'm getting the same thing. I also get the random Sim error that also requires a reboot to fix. It seems to be happening more frequently now, so I may be making a trip to at&t tomorrow.

If you take a trip, let me know what they say. I haven't gotten the SIM errors, but definitely losing data. Closing and re-opening the browser has not solves it for me.
I was thinking of trying a different ROM, but still close to stock.

I didn't, mine came pre-loaded in the phone, but I wasn't getting the SIM errors, it was the person above. I looked at ROM's but couldn't decide on one. I think I will try deleting the APN, and creating a new one, and see how that goes for a while.
I'm getting the same thing.
Yes, this happens to me too sometimes when I pass by some particular area, not always but sometimes. And when this happen, it sometimes get back to Norman but sometimes it don't. I have to reboot (as you said) this don't seems to be a problem in phone but with the service provider. I losses signals in that area
And I am from India and this happens in an almost village area

As I expected they first tried to replace my SIM. I was still having the data drop issue and did once again get the SIM error, even though it doesn't happen every time. I was not losing signal like this with my Nexus 5. I finally got an AT&T phone rep to send me out a new device. I could tell the reps in the warranty center didn't believe me...

I get this too. I've checked all my data settings but for some reason it doesn't always sync on mobile data. As soon as I get home on Wi-Fi I get a bunch of messages at once. Checked all my data settings can't seem to figure it out. Stock ROM rooted and soff. Att phone unlocked using on telus in Canada.
