[Q] Bricked s3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So,
I was updating my SIII to Omega 44.2 from omega 44. I did a full wipe and it just hung there doing nothing........so I pulled the battery (I know, right :silly. Anyway I am now stuck on boot loop, I can't get into recovery as my Vol+ doesn't work. I can get into download mode, but can't continue due to not being able to use the Vol+.
If anyone knows a way around this, although I know it is highly unlikely.
Thank you in advance for the ear bashing I am about to recieve.:good:

You should open your phone and try to fix the volume button but you can also acces the download mode via adb reboot download and recovery mode via adb reboot recovery (this one is propably kinda useless since you dont have touch recovery) when you reach the download mode you can just flash stock firmware via odin
btw hit the thanks button if i helped you

AW: [Q] Bricked s3
To me it sounds like a case for service center repair. I'm not used to Usb jigs, but I assume they still need you to press the vol+ button to continue to download mode...

You should really try to fix the volume buttons . Be brave and open the device or else pay someone to fix the buttons nothing else

Great so heres guide to reach the recovery mode without hard buttons
1.Download adb and install adb drivers for your phone
2.Extract the files to your c directory in a folder named adb(creat one)
3.Once the files are located in c:\adb go to start menu then search for cmd
4.type in cd c:\adb then click enter
5.type in adb devices it will show the connected devices it should be bunch of numbers
6.if you cant see them it means adb drivers for your device are not installed correctly
7.Now you can reboot to the recovery mode (adb reboot recovery) or download mode (adb reboot download)
you can also use usb jig

from the posted link:
METHOD 2: STUCK AT VIBRANT SCREEN:
(and are not able to use vol+ vol- methods to access downloader/recovery)
You will need the samsung ADB drivers installed for your phone as well as ADB...
ACCESS DOWNLOAD MODE
1) remove back cover and take our sim card and sd-card.
2) take out the battery
3) hold ALL 3 buttons down at the same time. (Vol +, Vol -, Power)
4) while holding down those 3 buttons put the battery back in
5) continue holding all 3 buttons until the vibrant disappears and reappears... once it reappears, release all 3 buttons
6) Setup ODIN and get it all setup and ready... (if you are flashing your phone via odin)
6) now connect your phone to your pc via USB cable
7) open a cmd prompt and navigate to the folder with ADB and type ADB REBOOT DOWNLOAD
8) Your phone will reboot into the download screen... go back to ODIN - A com port should now appear for your phone...
9) Click start and wait for your phone to do its thing
ACCESS STOCK RECOVERY
1) remove back cover and take our sim card and sd-card.
2) take out the battery
3) hold ALL 3 buttons down at the same time. (Vol +, Vol -, Power)

What is the combination to boot into recovery mode on samsung galaxy i5500

My samsung i5500 wont boot normally so I want to try booting it into recovery and reseting it. Ive tried power, centre key and volume down. which I thought was the recovery combination but it just comes up with an icon saying downloading and does nothing.
If anyone else knows a recovery combination or another way to fix it please comment
according to a post here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-781149.html
It's the volume down, then center key, then power. Make sure your not letting go after pressing them in that order... Order is important if you were doing power, center then volume down it will not work in that order.
I'm also trying to get into recovery mode to clear the dalvik cache and I'm stuck on the same downloading screen. I connected the usb cable, waited 5 minutes, started kies, waited 5 more minutes. What needs to be done on the downloading screen?
me to any help here

There is no key combination for this device.
In order to get to Recovery you need to boot Android, enable USB Debug Mode. Then connect to PC via USB cable, open ADB and type "adb reboot recovery"
If you cant boot into Android you'll need to flash recovery with Odin and it'll boot into Recovery after flashing.
also if using CM7 you can choose to boot into recovery when restarting phone.
If there is a way to boot to Recovery from download mode please someone explain how.

On my GT-I5500M, after installing CWM via Odin, from powered-off state, I can press and hold Volume Down, Start Call, End Call (3 buttons simultaneously), hold 'em past the Samsung boot screen, and you eventually get into Recovery mode without going into Download mode. YMMV but it works for me.

[Q] How to boot to recovery mode when home button is broken

Hello everyone! Here is my problem.
The home button of my gs2 is broken. I knew that some rom have the function that rebooting into recovery mode when power on.
But somehow, I need to boot into recovery mode when power off.
In addition, I've got a item which can help me get into odin mode when power off. The item in Chinese we call it "Wa mei shen qi"~
I would like to know is it able for me to boot into recovery mode with this? Or any other possible way for gs2 from power off state.
Thanks!

The "Item" you are talking about could be a USB Jig? As you already said: it will take you into download mode but not recovery mode.

Can you tell us why?
For a running device with USB debugging enabled you could run adb reboot recovery to boot into recovery mode. However this is for a running device, not for a device that is powered off.
I don't either fully understand what you're meaning by this.
But as far as i know the only way to access CWM when power off is Power+Home+VolUp, but then ofcourse i'm not a pro at this...yet there could be another way to access Recovery while power off which i haven't found out about.
I don't understand also why you must access Recovery while power off, in your situation (with the home butten broken) it would be easier to get ROM Manager. It has an option to reboot into Recovery mode. Or if you rooted with CF-Kernel, it come with a CWM app that let's you choose if you want to reboot normally, reboot into download mode or reboot into Recovery mode.
and if i may ask, what do you mean by Odin mode? Is it download mode?

Thanks for your informations.
The reason is that I flash a rom in Odin mode, but after that I can't get powered on, it always remains in the starting animation.
I've been in this situation many times, for every time, a wipe data / factory reset in recovery mode will fix the problem. However the problem arises, for this time, my home button is broken.
And I've tried a lot of other roms from Odin mode, it still remains in the starting animation. So I really need a wipe in recovery mode badly.
The "item" may be the same with USB jig from your description.

Yes, for Odin mode, I mean the download mode.
The reason that I need to boot into recovery mode is given in #4. And thanks for your information , but I really need to boot into recovery mode to do a wipe data / factory reset to save my gs2.
boot into recovery/download mode
..so u have a bootloop & ur home-btn is broken..
am i right?
the jig would bring you to dowload mode
install via odin ur rom with repartition..
u will need a 3-parted rom
that should solve your problem..cause i think theres no way to come into the recovery mode if u have a bootloop
[email protected] said:
u can use an app to boot into recovery/download mode
just look at the marketplace which you prefer
- i use stweaks from sieya kernel
the jig would reset the counter and bring you to dowload mode

Umm~This may work if adb.exe can get connected with my phone in booting animation. I'll try it later.
You must press on button for a few seconds then click on reboot then take recovery.

you can also use an app called [ Anreboot.apk ] but you must have a root permission ok

I've tried this with adb tool in andriod development SDK.
However during the booting animation, even if Windows Device Manager detect Android ADB Interface, "adb devices" shows no adb connections.
Maybe the only way for me is finding a rom with auto wipe after flashing it by ODIN.
The only way you can get this fixed is get your phone-home button fixed in a samsung repair center ma8..
There's no other way you can go to recovery mode without the home button use...you can use th usb jig only to go into download mode!. Hope this helps.

..Plz..Help..!! No SD, No ROOT, No Recovery,Locked out on Too Many pattern Page

I bought Spring W-100 China phone which looks approximately like Note1.
This phone has no SD card. Single SIM. No ROOT. Everything is ORIGINAL STOCK.
Recovery without commands - Blank Recovery - Android lying on its back with chest open and triangle with RED exclamatory mark.
I bought it from local market one month ago. Everything was okay.
But one day my brother took my phone for playing Subway Surfers.
And Oh...when i saw my phone..it was locked with Too many pattern lock attempts.
:crying: I am totally HOPELESS now.:crying:
I had tried whatever I got On XDA and another places.
At last I joined and made this thread in Android's HEAVEN - XDA..for the good.
Here are my assumptions:
1. There is no SD card..so I can't flash AROMA flasher and remove the gesture.key
2. I think ADB is going pretty well because I can reboot, reboot recovery and download with:
adb -d reboot; adb -d reboot recovery and adb reboot download commands respectively.
--wipe_data command is giving access denied error and rm /data/system/gesture.key is giving the same error.
I think it is because my phone is not rooted.
3. I can boot into bootloader with this code : adb reboot bootloader where only android written.
and then followed by this I tried On being in BOOTLOADER : fastboot -w
4. I had saw a method of pulling settings...but that method did't worked for me as well.

open stock Recovery, when you see the android with red exclaimation mark, HOLD power button and press Volume Up. if that doesnt work, try Volume Down. A menu will come up, choose wipe data/factory reset. DONE!
I tried everything..!!
i wanna tell u that i tried everything being in BLANK recovery mode:
power plus vol+
power plus vol-
power plus both vol+ & vol-
menu touch button
home & back touch button
....No Luck..!!
..As of now i think there are three solutions only for my problem(as I think) :
1. Flash RECOVERY.IMG for same make - because I can boot into fastboot mode.
2. Flash a custom or stock ROM (which I cannot get after searching a lot)
3. By using VOLCANOBOX software....(without BOX)
...My local MOBILE Repairing Shops are totally unaware of these things...
tell me that is there any UNIVERSAL recovery.img that can be flashed through fastboot mode to do a factory reset from phone because there is no ROOT and ADB is unable to do my task..
