[Mod] Sense 5 Silent Camera (No shutter/focus etc sounds) - HTC Droid DNA

This is for sense5 roms only...
I modded the Camera.apk, changing all the .ogg files to silent ones. I personally hate the noises the camera app makes so it's now quiet.
Just flash the zips in recovery, works like a charm. Or extract and replace /system/app/Camera.apk
Normal disclaimer:
I didn't mess up your device if anything happens blah blah by flashing you agree that you're stupid enough to flash things other people made. You assume any and all responsibility for anything that messes up. (Or just SUPER Trusting!!!!!exclamationmark!!!)

Obviously you flash silent cam for silence, noisy cam for noisy(aka revert to normal cam).
Edit:
Oh yeah IN SOME AREAS NO SHUTTER SOUND IS ILLEGAL! You are also going to check your local laws before flashing and you are agreeing not to use this for any illegal/perverted reasons.

Uh, what makes noise in the camera. Mines never made a peep.

Shutter sound, focus sound etc...

Mine is ridiculously noisy. Thanks for the camera development work. I am running newts pet on my Verizon DNA. Wonder if you might know how I can get slow motion option in video sence menu selecetion. Appreciate any info.

There's a option for those. Unchecking it silences both of those noises.

I don't have that option. Wish I did. I also am really interested in finding out how to enable slow motion in video sence menu selection.

The OG camera does but the modified one for the newest version of newts rom doesn't.

whats teh diff between OG camera and the one in newts? is there any one that can get 8mp resolution?

I believe I am by installing a file posted by dock in newts thread on page 224. It is the 4.2 photosphere camera. Along with taking 3264x2448 it also works with the new gallery. I believe that is 8mp. I really want that slow motion fix in stock camera. Or even better the photosphere camera above. This DNA is lucky to have so many knowledgable people working on it. I am a lucky bystander. Hopefully I will be able to help soon.

Mytouch slide 4g camera app

Can we get this ported to the 3d and if we do, will it make the pictures comparable?
I've been trying all day. It installs but the 3D can't be turned off and you can't take a photo. Has HDR and Panorama though
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yes it will make it comparable because camera apps control the quality of the camera.

It's been talked about many times that the reasons our pics aren't as good as they could be is software related . So with my very limited knowledge on the subject I think it would be in the telnet of possibilities.

I have used various telnet implementations over the years, but, "telnet of possibilities" sounds like the best ever.

This would be great if it's even possible. It may help produce better quality photos and obviously it also has the extra options.
but i already added panorama and hdr to the stock htc camera even burst but not sure if that works

I know you can do this by rooting but as of now I do not feel the need to root my phone. Do you know if it's possible to add these options without rooting?

the 4G slide has a much better sensor though
Tried to get this working today by changing permissions and finally got the app to load and show up in the app draw but it kept on force closing.

Blurry camera?

I just got my amaze today. I was expecting a stellar camera experience but instead all my photos come out blurry with the stock camera app.
When I switch to CameraFX from the market it takes much better pictures however.
Any way to fix the stock camera? I assume this is not normal judging from the reviews I have read.

I've NEVER been able to get a pic to look like the elite pics in the pic thread. I just chalked it up as "operator dysfunction."
Maybe I will try a different camera app.

blurry camera
yea i also experience same.all my photos come out blurry with the stock camera app.
Just gotta play around with it, those other apps focus were and when you want them to, unlike the stock one. Never hurts to have a second one.

My stock camera is fine. Hit menu and check the resolution. Mine was set at low resolution by default. That and the other options.
It also helps to have a steady hand since it has a quick shutter

That's very true. It's fairly easy to get a bad snapshot if your not used to it.
I have not had a single issue like that. I think the stock camera is sick and I have tested alot if other camera apps.

Hmmm idk I'll keep messing with it. Would a factory reset help?

tweak your brightness to contrast ratio and one key thing is always to get a good steady pic is set your camera in/on time mode (2 seconds is enough to hold it steady..)

Cool so our phone will have this feature like the One S if we ever get sense 4.0 running
Our phone already got this feature. Actually, when i was back in Sensation we were using a ported camera from amaze to get the burst and panorama feature. to take burst shos, go select it as the shooting mode
What i like about the One S camera is taking picture while recording a video

Yeah, downloaded it already and it looks pretty slick. Don't think I'm gonna use it; but just keeping the app though.
The focus seems off though if I move the phone around while taking the picture...

True. This app functions but its not nearly up to the same quality as the one Ss burst mode. The one S can burst up to 99 shots with hardly any delay between shots at all. This app has substantially more delay than the one S burst mode, but its still pretty cool. It'll be interesting to see if anyone ports the one S camera over to the amaze the way they did the sensation.

hacking the Camera.apk

for those of you who are unaware, Samsung likes to put parental controls on their Camera. youll have limits on when youre allowed to open the camera, such as below 15% battery, during music, while youre in a call (where its bluetooth or not), and during media scanning. on top of these limitations, youll also be faced with a mandatory shutter and focus sound, whether your sound is muted or not.
on all of the previous Galaxy phones, weve been luckily enough to have developers mod the camera.apk to fix these broken implementations. Fr4gg0r on the Galaxy S, and pulser_g2 on the Galaxy S II. who will be the one to mod the Galaxy S III Camera.apk?
anyone up for the challenge?
edit:
ive updated the Camera.apk attached to an odexed version
Can you post the camera.apk here, so that we can try?
I have my SGS3 on preorder here in the Netherlands, so I have 3 weeks to go...

Wonder if we can also discover some hidden gems like the HTC Sensation? They managed to churn 10mp shooter to 20mp. =O
Can some one give it a full manual mode so we can set f stop and shutter speeds including ISO manually.
I so want an app like this.

If support for the reported 120fps the hardware supports could be implemented, that would be legendary. I don't care what resolution it drops to really, but for me it would be extremely useful.
120fps, youd probably need a custom camera app for that, not a modded one
i know Fast Camera in the market can do some impressive stuff, even on SGS2

Just turn on vibrate or mute from the pulldown bar and you'll have no shutter sound.
I find it almost concerning that the pics form my S3 are only 1.5mb filesize, my S2 they were twice that and with hte old GB modded camera apk they were nearer 6mb
the pics like great but i cant help feeling that I am not geting as much detail as is capable?
Lot of good replies.. id like to See a 60fps at 720p which should be possible since the iphone 4s has it and we have the same sensor

I've always thought the color was a bit off with the camera. Hdr mode seems to fix that.

I have trouble holding the phone still enough for HDR to work properly
From time to time I have the same problem. However, to stabilize my phones image, I usually avoid pushing the dedicated camera button and choose the on-screen button, it helps me at times.
