I happen to have two HTC Amaze phones: one T-mobile and one international version. Before I did the bootloader unlock, s-off, superCID, and root, I recorded their MAC addresses. I have since flashed and tried Nightmare 1.6, BulletProof 2.0, and ViperAmaze 1.6.3, and found out the following:
1. the original MAC address was changed after flashing those Sense 4.x based ROMs.
2. and both phones have the same MAC address 00:d2:8b:43:9f:fd
3. if I go back to a Sense 3.6 ROM like Energy, the original MAC address returns
For those of you who are running one of the above Sense 4.x based ROMs on your Amaze, can you please check and see if you have the same MAC address of 00:d2:8b:43:9f:fd?
This has been an issue when both phones are connected to the same WiFi network. I tried but all I found were solutions to change the MAC address temporarily until the next reboot. Is there a way to change the MAC address permanently? I just want my phones to have their original MAC address back while running those Sense 4.x based ROMs.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks for checking and confirming. It troubles me as I thought MAC addresses are hard-coded and should stay the same. How can a ROM change the MAC address of a phone to have the same one.
I also have Sensation XE's running Sense 4.x ROMs like Elegancia and ViperS but these ROMs leave the MAC addresses untouched.

Check your build.prop, I've been doing a lot of optimizing on the Viper Amaze rom's build.prop. It's possible that they changed where and or how the software retrieves this information.
There's a few apps on the market that can tell you the tru mac address. I'm on viper and my wifi mac says 00:d2:8b:43:9f:fd

Hi Chevy, it's good to hear from you. I was hoping to post my MAC question to your ViperAmaze thread but as you can see I am still working on my posts to have enough before I can post to your development thread.
I have tried most Sense 4.x ROMs for the Amaze including Nightmare and BulletProof, and yours (ViperAmaze) is the current one I flashed. All these ROMs assigned the same MAC address to my phones. My theory was that anyone who runs those ROMs on their Amaze would end up with the same MAC address 00:d2:8b:43:9f:fd.
I recorded the actual MAC addresses of my two Amaze phones when they were still running stock ROMs. I have gone through my build.prop but could not tell where I should be looking. I hope there is a way to bring the actual MAC back under the Sense 4.x ROMs.
By the way, thanks for your time and effort keeping the development going for the Amaze by bring us the ViperAmaze.
I have the same mac address too. Anyway to change it back? Running vipearamaze 1.64

I would like to get the original phone MAC address back too but haven't found a way (except when using Sense 3.6 based ROMs). I will post to the ViperAmaze thread to see if the developers can figure out a way to correctly retrieve the MAC address.
This is strange. I have the exact same Mac address but I'm on the dark glass 0.3 rom.
A kernel issue maybe? But the strange thing is that the dark glass 0.3 ROM uses the CM10 kernel, which is completely different to the nightmare kernel that the sense 4 ROMS use. Hmmm
Mine mac address also changed when i flashed Energy rom with faux kernel.
Strange
Has anybody found an easy way to restore the original Mac Address. I already know what the original address was, I would just like to have an easy way to change it.
Thanks

Hey brothers and sisters. Alright I'm running. My T-Mobile optimus T with revoidopt t 2.2 great stable rom OBV I love cynagon, but my wifi calling wont work with it. The flash that does it for the nexus obviously doesn't work. Axis of evil doesn't either because it's 2.2 only. Will there ever be a day that wifi calling will work on my p509 running Cm7? dee000000s CM7 port for the P509 (now cancelled) used the wifi calling app from the 2.3.3 release of the T-Mobile G2x.
I don't know if it'll work with 2.3.7 CM7 but it's worth a shot.
You could always use GrooveIP if it doesn't work.
How do I go about getting a hold of that? And thanks man. Cheers. I like the second idea as well but the actual wifi calling also supports sms

I suggest extracting the same files in Axisofevils zip from a stock G2x rom.
Google Voice + GrooveIP = free SMS and free WiFi calling.

I'm using Google Voice and GrooVe IP for free SMS and outgoing Wi-Fi calling (I love Google Voice). Unfortunately, GrooVe IP is pretty useless for me for incoming calls. With about 99% of my received calls, the GrooVe IP call screen hides behind the regular call screen, so it is impossible for me to accept the call with GrooVe IP. The developer doesn't seem to care about this problem, so I don't know if it will ever be fixed. I've been told that you can avoid the problem by using Locale Google Voice Set Plug and Tasker, but that involves using two more paid apps to work around a major flaw with GrooVe IP (also a paid app) that should not exist.

Before GrooveIP existed I used SIPDroid with Pbexes/Sipgate and also experienced incoming call issues. I've never found a solution for Android that works flawlessly for incoming calls.
Off topic:
I bought an Obi100 for GV VOIP at home, best $40 I spent all year.
I'm about to try copying the files from a T-Mobile G2X:
From lib:
libganril.so
libkineto.so
librilswitch.so
And from app:
Kineto.apk
Basically modying and resigning the zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116268
Let's see what happens. I'm running the unofficial CM7. I really want 2.3 with Wifi Calling. I'm trying this G2X because it's LG to LG. I would like to try the HTC Wildfire S files next. It uses the MSM7227.
No need to resign it, just disable signature verification before flashing.
I don't have a qualifying plan for free WiFi calling but I've always been curious if this would work. Please report your findings.
Didn't work. Files from G2X didn't work. I just copied them over using dab while in cmw. I couldn't get a working zip. Anyone else want to chime in here?

I did some digging at the cyanogenmod and apparently it is supported.
I found this at cyanogenmods github "kineto_gan.ko"
That's a kernel module
This I believe is the missing link, but this module would need to be compiled with francos kernel for example, copy and paste won't work. Sorry.
**EDIT**
You could try asking fserve if he would be interested in supporting it, I'm pretty sure franco would say no.

Ate you sure this is for the p509? kineto_gan.ko is used on a lot of devices. The G2X is only supported device. If there is source available can't we build it against a kernel? I have some understanding of kernels and modules.

Look at Cyanogenmods github and forums. I'm not interested enough to look into it, sorry, but it works with other devices which should give you hope.
**EDIT**
Here's how I'd proceed. First confirm the G2x files work. Use an Official P500 2.3.3 rom to do this. If not locate ones that do.
Next, work with the CM sources to make it work.
So we do have the source code for kineto_gan.c
/LGP500_Gingerbread_v20g/kernel/drivers/net/kineto_gan.c
It's apart of the android source from 2.3. The official open source LG Build.
I also thought about something. Using the files (libs) from the G2X might be a bad idea. The ARM version differs between the two. ARMv7 (G2X) vs. ARMv6. I need to see if those libs are in the official LG 2.3 build for the P500. If they are not it would be better to use another ARMv6 phone with wifi calling and 2.3 (HTC Wildfire S). I'm confident that this can eventually work. I know my knowledge might night be enough, so whoever can help please join.

Bit of a grey area to be honest....it's not like changing your IMEI or something like that....

hi guys,
i just wanted to ask have anyone tried receiving calls from another phone in your gp5? i was just wondering i have a hp touchpad with webos and when its paired with my old phone it can receive the calls.
I was thinkin maybe if i can do that with my gp5 i can tuck away my old phone and receive calls with my gp5 when paired using bluetooth.
please let me know if anybody have any idea how get this done i know it requires certain service to enable this feature with bluetooth
The 4.0 and 5.0 do NOT support the bluetooth profile (HFP) Needed to be able to answer the calls of a paired bluetooth phone, the 3.6 does and I think the 4.2 might I just can't remember right now.
You could check out the custom ROM's for the 5.0 one of them may have added that functionality, but stock they will not.
4.2 does works like a charm. Just like my tp

Well, it is unreal to answer a call? if you have not a dial, isn't it? So, galaxy player 4 and 5 HAVE NOT a dial (a phone app), maybe, in some custom ROMs... And they also have not (HFP) and you could not use them as hands-free...

No, they have a dailer, they lack support of the needed bluetooth profiles, It was one of those weird things samsung did.

Unlikely to see it in any of the CM9 based ICS releases as bluetooth doesn't even work in most of them.

Code:
ro.ril.reject.cs.ss.enabled=0
ro.ril.reject.mo.ussd.enabled=0

thinking it might work with sgp 5.0 i tried opening my build.prop and cant find any lines like above
sadly it seems like nobody is after this feature but me

I'm very much interested in this feature and i'm sure there are people out there who care about it as well. I really would love to be able to use GP5 with my 10' tablet to answer and make calls though it.

Thanks for trying. I got an idea based on the previous posts the 3.6 player has this feature I was wondering if the 3.6 has the identical chipset as ours provided that the its coming from the same rom version we can dump some of their core files that is controlling the bt chipset and port it to our device

i'm planning to post a request in the development forum, asking the developers to incorporate this feature into one of the rooms
I already asked the 4.0 devs. What we need is a 3.6 dump, so we can get what files we need.
Sent using Tapatalk
a dump? arent official roms available for download? why can't the necessary code be taken from a rom?
both 4.2 and 3.6 have this feature enabled, so it can be imported from any of these devices. I think it should be trivial - because the devices use the same components, adopting features from one into another should be almost as easy as cutting and pasting the code or a library or whatever they have in android.
Hi guys, since my 3.6 isn't rooted I'm not sure I can dump every file, but I can extract the ones which I have read access. You can also download all the source here

double post
Hello, I have been a member for a while, but mostly read, do not post on this site so I cant post in the development section yet. I have an EVO3d I am trying new JB Roms on to find a new cool rom , but every one I find I am having an issue here and there. I recently updated my Kernel to a different kernel, and that fixed some of the issues.
I am trying Paranoid Andriod JB and got everything to work, but receiving SMS messages. I cant find the setting for changing the Proxy like suggested in one post I read. Could someone point me in the right direction? Sorry if this is posted, I searched but was unable to find it for the Sprint Evo 3d. I found something for Cricket, Called APN manager. Would the settings be the same except for the mycricket inputs be sprint instead?
Any one know any other ROMs to try that are cool and customizable for JB?
Thanks for all you developers do, Love ALL of the work!
Chris
Hello, first and foremost I know where you are coming from. I've been playing around with jb ROMs for weeks now. You are using paranoid jb correct? The problem you are having is the developer ported this ROM over from another device meant for another carrier and thus the APN settings are not coded for sprint correctly. Generally, ROMs built from source typically have MMS and texting working specifically for that device. While no ROM is best and due to moderator preference we cannot have opinion threads on which is best. However I can point your to a few ROMs that have those things working. You can try gangnam style, king kang, unofficial jb aokp. Hope this helps.
None of the Mac Address Changing/Spoofing apps on Google Play or XDA work anymore (on the more recent Nougat builds). I noticed that as the Dev's update that source revision stuff (r22?) they start to have this issue so I'm guessing whatever the Mac Changer apps were programmed to change is somewhere different.
I've spent a few hours looking into the issue without success so I was hoping some kind hearted person might help me out with a few suggestions as to how we could directly alter the file and change the Mac Address. Thank you
