[Q] The "6589 phone that's actually for sale" thread - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm getting tired of waiting for the G4A and all the others that seem will never come out so I have a basic question
Where can I get a 6589 phone with decent specs (4.5" or more, 720p, gorilla glass, 2000+ battery) with a good build quality and good factory and community support and that is actually available and ready to ship and not yet another undisclosed presale that never ends?
Thanks
PS: extra points for any alternatives like that LA-Q1 phone that is impossible to find at not-crazy prices

I would like to know the same, but I recently narrowed down my list to one of the following models:
- Hero/Caesar H7500+: (5", 1280x720) - Same as Zopo ZP810 - Available now!
- Newman NM890: (5", 1280x720) - Not yet available! (should be available 2013-03-31)
- Star S5 Butterfly: (5", 1280x720) - Android 4.2.1 - Available now!
- Freelander i30: (5", 1280x720) - Higher price, but I have Freelander i10 and it's great - Not yet available!
- Flying F600: (4,7", 960x540) - Great price - Available now!
- Star B94M (quad core version): (4,5", 960x540) - Cheapest MTK6589 - Available now!
- UMi X1S: (4,5", 1280x720, AGC Tempered glass): Not yet available! (should be available 2013-04-03)
Any thoughts or advice? Please reply

I was gonna do the same, but then I saw this:
http://youtu.be/T7UKuNms6ug?t=23m30s
Something strange happens...
Also - see how long does it take for AnTuTu tu finish with SD Card Write test.
STAR made some of my favorite (and cheapest) phones in the past, but their quality control seems to be really poor.

i love cheap, but?
I'm really keen to get either the umi x1s (prob will get this one) or the flying f600.
I'd love to take a gamble on the f600 as it's so cheap, but I cant find any reviews of videos on it at all. So I think I will settle with umi x1s.
Or should I wait a little longer for the galaxy s4 (real and clones) to push the price down???
Also "IcedFlame" are you referring to the CPU test where two core seem to be failing in that video as the "strange thing"?

I grabbed a iNew i2000 from geekbuying last week at $258.99. It's now on sale for $239.00 and in stock.
http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Inew...-Android-4-1-OS-3G-GPS-Grey-White-314413.html
MTK6589, 5.7" IPS 720p, 1GB ram, 8GB nand
I like it so far. I've also posted a quick review at http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechforum/viewtopic.php?f=214&t=1877
There's also plenty of videos about it on youtube.
It's getting 4.2 pretty soon.
There is root and cwm available for it too.

Hard to believe
Anyone notice that the actual res on the phones are different to whats stated.
The f600 phone is supposed to be 960 x 540
but in the antutu screen shots its 854 x 480.
the phone is from AnteslifeDOTcom f600

That's why its better to stick with brands you know, there are lots of scammers in this industry because they know the average guy is not gonna bother shipping a phone all the way back to china for the warranty.
BTW check the butterfly and H9500 on PW: both show with 720p screens in both specs and antutu, are those numbers correct or the real specs are actually lower?
TBH my biggest problem with these phones is that good models are too expensive and if you can spend that much you could add a little more and get a Nexus.

Hi Guys,
Just thought I would add my 2 cents here.
Today I just received my Star S5 with the MTK6589 processor from Pandawil and so far I love it, build quality is better than expected, ROM had some items I uninstalled immediately which were Chinese apps.
Battery so far is brilliant (big battery 2500ma x 2) the screen is clear and bright and proper 1280 x 720 resolution.
Dual sims work perfectly here in Australia (only 1 runs 3g though)
Just run a AnTuTu test and got 13206.
Overall I am very impressed and bang for buck its great value!!

I'll put in my 2 cents also. Just recieved the phone this weekend.
The camera is real 8 MP at 4:3 ratio and 6 MP at 16:9 ratio. It intrapolates to 13 MP at 4:3 ratio. I think the quality of the pictures it takes is ok. It's nor great in house with little lighting, but it's better than a Jiayu G3. I haven't watched the pictures I took on my pc yet.
The video can shoot up to 1080 if you choose the highest quality.
I like the phone. It's a little bigger than a Jiayu G3 (the other chinese phone in our home) but it's no lightweight. I personally don't mind. It kind of makes it feel like it won't break anytime soon.
My GPS works after around 4-5 minutes outside so that's not a really great selling point. Works anyway so not a real problem.

I suspected the 13mp mode would be interpolated but no 16:9 8mp mode? That sucks, hope other models are better.
BTW did you guys hear about the G3S? I'm thinking Jiayu has some serious problems with the casing of the G4 as well and not just the ram.
And any news with the Play processor phones? They said there would be tons and I see nothing.

My favourites are ThL W8 and W8+ for now. Next week is is my decision to buy new phone. I will skip S5 and will not wait Jiayu G4. l also looked Goophone i9 but it is not useful to me with his gigantic 5,7" screen.

[Q] S3 vs S4 processor

I am wondering, is the Xperia S really worth it with an S3 processor? I mean there will be more flagships later on in the year with S4. But what is so much better about this new processor and should I wait for phones with it or get the Xperia S?
Cheers

I saw those, but am not looking at comparing with other phones, just want to know about the processor in general, will it be outdated soon?

Yes. That is the nature of technology. The S4 will be outdated soon. As I always say, if you wait for 'the best' phone, you will wait forever.
If you used search, you would also see there's a thread about the S4 Hayabusa.
I can't be bothered to link the thread because I'm not google, but it's only rumors at the moment.
Of course better phones will be made later on in the year...that's how it always is. Like how it always is, if you keep waiting for phones you will never get one, because something better will be down the road...A phone is outdated within like...less than 4 months now with tech advances?
The S does it for me, if you want a comparison between the S3 and the S4, you can find it online.
Asking if the Xperia S is worth it, in the S thread isn't the best idea because well...we are all proud owners of the phone. I love the S, to me it's the phone to watch for this year, especially when ICS rolls out.
I agree that you end up waiting forever to keep up with tech, but I just feel like the S2 is a year old and had the same tech and the Xperia S. Sure you can never keep up with how technology moves but at least if the manufactures were releasing up to date hardware it would last that bit longer.
As for asking within the XS thread, I'd hope even if you love the phone you could still give some objective advice...
The extra speed is the main benefit of course, as every1 uses their smart phone slightly different no1 can really answer that for you, so what benefits do you think you will get waiting for the S4 processor?
The XPS S3 is plenty fast enough in my opinion, the phone plays smooth 1080p video in the browser... thats fast and not many phones/tablets can do that. The S4 will have the same ability so zero benefit there.
All games run smooth and will for yrs to come with the XPS same as when the S4 comes out so zero benefit there.
The XPS has a super fast high quality camera, the next phones might come out with a sub par camera so u might loose more benefit there and will have waited for nothing.
XPS is a great media player in general probably the same as the S4 when it comes so zero benefit again there.
Technical details you can find via the wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
If you want S4 right now tho it's in the HTC One S.
-smc
---------- Post added at 10:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 AM ----------
No such thing as an outdated processor these days on any platform as 99% of software and games will be coded for the majority of all phones.
-smc
Yea, I believe you would have to fight to see the difference between the two...things even ran decently smooth on my X10 to be honest, and that was only an S1 .
Currently my S doesn't lag at all, its actually butter smooth, and I don't get any skipping or any kind of app lag. I guess it comes down to how you use the phone, and well...if you are a spec junkie. If you want an S4 right now, you have to get the One S (as SMC said), which isn't much of an upgrade (besides S4 and ICS, there's no plus) and at least in my opinion a huge downgrade in aesthetics and the camera.
I really think the difference between the S3 and S4 won't be visible...unless you are a spec-junkie and want to get top benchmarks at all times (which may be the only time you will see a difference, i think). I honestly don't think it will bring more (noticeably) to the table than you already get with S3.
Keeping it neutral enough?
I think S5 will be faster than S4.
I've benchmarked my XPS vs. one of my friends' One S. The difference in the benchmarks is noticeable, but I felt like everything on the XPS was smoother in general. It might be Sense 4 though. But again, and the camera on the One S is laaaaame, and the screen is not that great.

But not as fast as the M3.
Wait, cars or phones?
Okay I think I will keep it
See I won the Xperia S in the twitter competition and contemplating keeping my arc and selling it and waiting for the Hayabusa, but after seeing how much ebay steals off the final selling price. I never thought I would be using my arc as a back up phone less then a year after getting it (I normally upgrade every 2-3 years)

S5 will be twice as fast but if you hold it wrong its slower.
S3 is 40 nm and S4 is 28 nm. It's faster, cooler and more power efficient. But it's not worth another 100 € (One S).

Ok.... xperia s vs one s vs one x (s3/s4/tegra 3). I did that too, still I bought the Xperia S? Why?
One S / One X - faster CPU. XPS fast enough for a phone.
XPS / One S - Size is good, One X - too big
One S - qHD pentile display. XPS / One X great 720p displays
One S 16GB (too little for me). One X / XPS 32GB (enough)
Camera is good in all 3, altough XPS is probably best quality pics + dedicated camera button. OneS/X have nicer software interface
ICS All 3 will have it in a few weeks. No real issue to wait a little bit for it.
All of these phones have there stronger and weaker point. In the end you have to decide what you find most important. The CPU is only just one thing, for me definately not the most important. Granted you need a certain baseline speed for a phone to have it operate smoothly. But the S3 in the XPS has plenty of speed. Heck even the 1GHz single core S2 in the Desire HD still performs pretty nice on the resolution that phone has. S3 is the xps is a lot faster than that. It will serve me just fine the coming period.
I wanted to buy a phone that was in the 4" - 4.3" inch range, with a good 720p display, 32GB (or microsd slot), a decent camera and fast enough to operate smoothly. XPS suits that best, I also really like the design of it.

[Q] Porting SGS3 Rom to Newman N2

can some developer to port a rom jelly beans to Newman n2? it have the same SoC Exynos 4412. Is sufficient for porting?
Newman N2 sounds like some cheap Chinese knock-off. Doubt anyone would want to port to that, even though it may be possible.

Seems the only thing that differentiates this from the GS3 is that the Newman has a better camera. Porting would be possible, I think, but the problem would be getting the camera to run as the GS3 "only" has an 8MP one.

Mine arriwed. Not N2 but Freelander I20. Same except the name. I love it. And I'm hope it will be possible to port. I'll post a little review tomorrow.
Newman N2
I have just ordered the Newman N2, and I hope to see a custom rom in the near future (preferably based on CM10 or CM10.1, or even AOSP or AOKP)... I have not developed or modified any ROM so far (although I'm using Disarmed Toaster on my HTC Evo 3D), but I know my way about programming on a PC and in Linux. So I might be of some help in the process...

Ok. Maybe if some of you interested in a little review. I'm share my experiences. First, sorry for my english.
Hardware
I'm pleasantly suprised. The assemblage is very good. No crakckilngs. The buttons are good. The backshell is simple plastic, but it's a little rugged, so has better hold, not so floppy. The black is normal, but the yellow is all-gloss-plastic, I like it.
There is a little glitch in my case, over the resistive buttons a little light-leak visible on dark screens. It is still reasonable. I don't know is any way to swith this button light on-off, but I will looking around.
The camera making good photos, but the burst mode is a little slow. Maybe the memory access is not the best. I'm hope it will be fixed in the next FW. The speaker sounds good and clear.
It doesn't recognised my CL10 ADATA SD formatted NTFS, but working well formatted FAT32, I think it will be fixing also in the future, and maybe no problems with slower class NTFS formatted cards.
The display is superb. Good colors, and viewing angle. I had a super amoled Samsung before, so I think I say it without fear or favour.
The WIFI is fast as it can be. And the BT also working fine. I will test GPS later.
Software
The phone started on my mother language, thanks Pandawill. Isn't installed any needless chinase program, but comes with Play Store. Untill this time been able to install any programs I want. It isn't rooted. I'm hope the devoted community will do it fast.
Antutu v3 scores 12700, not the best, but I don't care still all the games going without lag. (Updated: dunno why, but after a restart it scored 14900) Eternity Warriors 2, Zenonia 5, Crazy Fist2 goes well. Asphalt 7 has a small lag, but don't know whats normal, it doesn't work on my tablet. Pinball Arcade goes fine but Zen pinball has lag just like on my dual core tab with same gpu. Trial xtreme 3 goes fine.
I will test more games later. Another apps. What I'm using installed. TFS Shell goes like a charm. Youtube, Facebook OK. All tool working in Smart Tools.
If you have any questions, let me know.
PS: I'm still very happy with this phone.

I have a Freelander I-20, just arrived today and have been messing around with it. I had tried to cancel the order but as often seems to happen with Chinese retailers, they ignored my emails and sent it anyway!
I'm quite impressed with the screen, very bright and good viewing angles. Reception with Three UK has been a bit spotty but I'm in a bad area and so needs more testing. GPS took a good few minutes to lock during a quick test.
Number one problem I've noticed is the lack of full G-apps. It has Play, so gmail etc... can be installed, but there is no initial android/google set-up and no way to sync contacts (even from settings and accounts). There's a French forum with quite a few people who have received this phone and they are all reporting the same. I noticed a link on that forum to XDA and a tool for rooting phones that use the Exynos4 processor, and I can confirm that it works with the I-20.
Using that I was then able to install Titanium Backup and restore google contacts sync and gtalk from a backup saved from my previous phone (Huawei G300). So now I have my contacts back and also gtalk so the biggest problem for me was resolved quite quickly.
Sorry for the noob question but which is the best forum for creating a dedicated post for this phone?
working fine! and the camera also working, so we love Chainfire! rooted in 1 min, lool
I don't know what is the best place to create a dedicated post, maybe this forum?
btw as I see, Newman has better support and big community (check this, already got 8 patch? http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kw=%C5%A6%C2%FCn2), maybe later we can use Newman FW on our device
Latest Newman N2 update, dated 2013.01.12

Thanks Kacerolo, from HTCMania, already flashed Newman FW on Freelander I20, working fine. I'm waiting how-to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6ocJeUe0dc
Don't you know guys, is it OK if I'm start the phone in recovery mode and flash simple the FW from the extSD?
And some nice infos about the phones, thanks Lares
01.11 Newman started sales of N2, and all phones have been sold for three and a half minutes. The next batch is planned for January 18.
All phones are tested by robots from the future and stationery clamps.
Package Contents is different in that N2 has the micro-sim adapter and cutter, and I20 has second yellow back cover
The phone has the Sony Exmor RS camera with a back-illuminated sensor.
The phone has a touch screen and display are produced by OGS (one glass solution) technology.
The phone has the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protective glass and ten finger multitouch.
The phone has a dual cooling, namely graphite and aluminum-magnesium plates somewhere inside.

Despite some unresolved issues with the camera, Newman is very proud of it, and its further optimization in priority.
In a short time Newman promises release version firmware. Unofficial firmwares and firmware porting welcomed by Newman.
Something else:
The phone has not OTG.
The phone has not MHL.
3.5 mm jack corresponds to the CTIA international standard. Old headsets with OMTP standart will not work properly.

Newman N2 vs. FreeLander i20
Interesting results , as the Newman N2 and FreeLander i20 are said to be internally the same. Then what's the reason for ~10% difference in the results? A bit worse software in the i20? Or some kind of cheating?
When I get my N2, I'll run the AnTuTu benchmark too... can someone with i20 post his/her results too?
Jiri
Don't know why. First time I'm tested antutu, got 12xxx points, but after a restart, got 14900. Btw the 00.22 Newman FW on my Freelander! Just need to fix PlayStore. Still searching.

Owners were some problems with the 3D benchmarks, but only with benchmarks. According to them, the actual performance does not suffer. In the latest firmware Newman repaired the compatibility with some applications. I think this just affects the results. Freelander is so slow with updates, but Newman makes new f/w twice a week.

I don't want a smaller screen, looks like a note instead next time then!
I no was impressed with it as well as the specification and screen smaller than the 6.3.
Looks like I'm keeping the original mega for a while longer
This is going to be the longest I have had the same phone since Windows Mobile 5!
I am glad the Mega is well built though, it is doing very well considering the amount of use it gets.
I'd agree with you I've dropped it many times and its as good as the day I got it. The screen is perfect as is I don't care for 1080p etc if I want hires I'll use my retina macbook. Speed is fine for what I need so looks like I'll be spending the cash on an aoc 34 ultrawide monitor instead so all is good lol

Haha, same here, I really can't fault it and I have had a lot of fun building roms for it, so very good value for money.
Hey guys. I have a dump of the system.img of this Mega 2. It's deodexed. Just wondering if anyone is interested?
I have pushed and tried: Radio, Voice Recorder, and Clock.
So basically, they all behave just like the ones ported from S5 that I've tried before.
Clock just crashed.
Radio and Voice Recorder both work but the scaling is not right.

Whilst other phablet sized phones, have been up for grabs, since the Mega was released, a little over a year ago, none, in the mid price and specs range, come anywhere close, to ours, for everyday usage.
I am on the Stock 4.2.2 Rom, 64gb micro sd, and with Adobe Flash working adequately, when I need it, see no reason, to upgrade, if, or as and when, the chance arises.
This is certainly an exceptional all-round smartphone!
Well Done samsung!
Exactly and proves a point that specs really don't matter what they produced in the 6.3 is a great all rounder near perfect phone. A good balance of power and performance vs price ratio. Really is spot on. In a way they have shot themselves in the foot as many don't feel the need to upgrade.

This is lovely; I like it a lot.I wonder what the price will be though for each version?
Very interesting indeed!
I decided the Z3 tablet is a bit much for me as a phone but this one could be the one if it gets any dev behind it and a good screen of course.
Agreed about whether a hacker community forms around it.
Before I buy a device, I check XDA and Modaco to see whether anyone else is working on it.
Hmmm, the SoC used has a Mali GPU, but I don't know anything about the CPU
quote
Mediapad X2 boasts an "ultra" octa-core, 64-bit Kirin 930 chipset clocked in at 2.0Ghz
The development for Huawei are pathetic at best.. I have ascend mate 1 & 2. Benchmarks are ok but real life use is pretty laggy. I gave up on the company. Look at their flagship, the mate 7. It's out for a while but there's still no custom rom if I am not wrong..
For me there is more to XZU than just the screen size, be it the extra sensitivity or the looks, on these grounds we should rather wait for the real successor sony is supposedly working on

Agree:good:
I am open to other manufacturers working on 7-8 inch devices but in order to be a viable replacement, some things are necessary:
1. Snapdragon 810 or 820
2. 3-4 GB RAM
3. 32-128 GB internal storage
4. MicroSDXC slot
5. 6.5-8 inch display with 2K resolution or higher
6. Vanilla Android or a lightly skinned version (Sony or Motorola style)
7. Developer friendliness with decent ROM support
8. Adequate camera (12 MP is perfectly fine)
9. Support for an external camera module (DSC-QX10 et al)
It would be great with a keyboard flipcover accessory as well.
A device without microSD slot and a lack of ROMs would fail to replace the Ultra in a proper way. The same goes for heavily skinned Android implementations or a lack of hardware standardization (a lot of different ROM incompatible versions).
The Huawei MediaPad X2 could be a "replacement" provided decent ROM support and similar LTE bands as the Ultra but I am not sure about those things.
I am quite sure that a viable "replacement" to the Ultra will be either a Sony device or something from a Chinese manufacturer. I still hope for an Oppo or Xiaomi since I think it is those two companies that would be able to actually tick the boxes properly if Sony would let us down with a Z4 Ultra. Similar hardware as the new Z4 Tablet would be great.
For me it's about manageability and think my Zu is just about manageable in the hand. I am aware others see it as a bit of a freak when they consider what's acceptable as their phone/daily driver but I like that it blurs the line of whats acceptable as a phone or tablet and I like that for me it's both...The Zu is my phone when I need to make calls text etc add to that the convenience of probably the best Web browsing experience on any device I have ever used with phone capability, decent battery, powerful innards, then let me at it-i say!!
Let the naysayers nay.
However the Huawei pad while spec wise is great it just seems to push that boundary of what I would consider manageable as a Phone.
I enjoy the tall slender ergonomics of the Zu but the Huawei just looks too wide and tablet-y for what I would consider manageable...I do like the smaller bezels tho
Less than a quarter inch taller and half inch wider, has an sd slot and the processor is supposed to be 16 nm die size similar to Apple.A9 chip.

Lol, you just reminded me. Several days back I was ordering a Chicken Twister Meal from some fast food restaurant called SFC (Southern Fried Chicken) .
Anyway I placed my order and took a seat since it needed time to prepare. Wife calls and I answer and we start chatting...
I noticed the two Filipino women who took my order were both whispering to each other whilst looking at me and were laughing...
Needless to say I know exactly why they were laughing. They saw me speaking on such a huge phone which wasn't normal for them
and it really made them laugh...
I didn't give a $hit and continued. Other times whilst on the phone, I've had looks/hard stares and in some cases women approach me and ask what phone I have, model and size. There have been many stares especially when taking the phone out my pocket whilst on the train. Half the cabin are staring wondering what phone you have and shocked at it's huge size.
When people do give funny looks I couldn't care less especially because of another thing I saw. On several occasions, I've even seen people talking on 8-10" tablets!!! They were not using earphones, the phone was on their ear, now that looks a lot funnier than my 6.4" Xperia Z Ultra...

Indeed I prefer the x2 as well. I mean, if I am moving from the Ultra I rather do it to a bigger phone but not so sure about the chipset of the x2. I wish it was the Snapdragon 810.
Also, on the ZTE, well, it is the same size as my Ultra so the only way for me to upgrade would be if it was some better looking screen (darker blacks etc) and replaceable batteries. I guess I am happy enough with the Ultra that I can be picky
I don't trust these chinese manufactures.
It will be stuck on the same Android Version for ages, with next to no development.
I have had both the Huawei Ascend Mate7 with an Octa Core Kirin 925 @1.8GHz and the Huawei MediaPad X1 with a Quad Core VR91 @1.6GHz.
The X1 was just too slow and laggy but other than that it was a great device. It looks very nice and build quality was comparable to an iPhone 5 or 6. Of course it's big but I used it as a phone and had no issues with it.
The Mate7 was too small for my taste but performance wise I had no issues. It was comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in that regard.
The MediaPad X2 uses a Kirin 930 @2.0GHz and has Lollipop so I have no doubt it will not be a laggy device.
With regard to ROMs, if you install another launcher the Huawei software is bearable. It's not like TouchWiz. I am looking forward to getting the X2 and if it can be rooted I think I will be satisfied. Hopefully Huawei will come out with a proper European version without the Chinese stuff on it.

Have been tracking this device (x6 with 3GB RAM & 128gb) at least for the past 6-7 months as I was getting restless for new phone (I change phones every 3 months). Since there was no release date on sight, I sold my XZU, bought Lumia 1520 but found it small for my taste (But loved Windows OS; one for future if they launch with 6.2+ screen size) so sold it off after 1 month and re bought XZU again!
Have been tracking this phone in below website where the Customer care is promising launch dates (3GB+128gb) but nothing has been done in almost 6 months.
http://www.nubiamobileshop.com/nubi...pdragon-801-2gb-32gb-13-0mp-camera-white.html
However, if it launches for around $400 (which is not going to happen as 2gb version is around $450 and 3gb one will around $700), I would definitely look into it as Mediapad X2 looks too wide and will be difficult to hold.
Definitely interested in this device, but I wonder what the price will be. Hard to compete with the Ultra since it can be had for less than 300.
ZTE Nubia X6
Snapdragon 801
6,44" fullhd display
3 gb ram
32 / 64 / 128 gb
lte, bluetooth 4.0, nfc, wi-fi abgn, infrared
4500 mah battery

What planet are you living on... ? (for clarification phablet means AT LEAST 6in. Or bigger...)

What replacement for my Mega 6.3?

I love my Mega 6.3. I previously had a Note2 (stolen), and when I changed, I loved the bigger, brighter screen. I was never using the stylus anyway so it was a global improvement to me.
My Mega is now getting old. No Samsung lollipop for it, and custom ROM's have often bugs. I'm now looking for a replacement for my Mega but can't find anything approaching.
Of course, I'm looking for an improvement : more power, more ram, better camera.
I'm really not encline to buy a smaller screen, but I'm not interested in QUAD HD either, more pixels meaning more computing power for the display, and then slower device and less battery life with not necessarily a better image, see for example latest iPhone devices with beautiful display and no quad HD.
But I certainly don't want to leave Android.
So what phone?
Galaxy Notes seem too expensive and too small for me. A simple calculation gives, assuming same screen aspect ratio :
6.3" to 6" - - > 10% less screen area
6.3" to 5.7" - - > 18% less screen area
6.3" to 5.5" - - > almost 1/4 less! (24%)
I would love to get some phone with the same outsize but with bigger display i. e. 6.5" meaning smaller bezels, 1920 × 1080 display, Qualcomm 8xx series proc or similar, 3 gigs of ram latest Sony camera, micro SD support, lte+ and more.
By the way, Sony Xperia Z ultra could partially do it, but case is really too big.
Do you have any suggestions?
Look at Huawei Mediapad X2... definitely bigger screen and better hardware. Unfortunately till now there is no international version of this unit. But people use Chinese versions...
Wait for Huawei Mate 8, expected release date is Q4 of 2015.

Mediapad X2 is clearly to big for me.
Mate 8 could be a good competitor
I have no idea of the kirin950 performance. Seems not to be at thé level of Qualcomm's 8xx Series procs..
I've been thinking of nexus6, but max lum ils vert low, and price still quite high.
Yeah, me too.
I find it's gonna be hard when it's time for me to look for a phone that is comparable to this Mega.
F*** Samsung for not updating this phone. (Although I knew that this Mega would not get up-to-date given Samsung's business tactics.)
I would not get/recommend any Chinese brand phones if you do care about the company's and community's support.
However, I will be watching the upcoming Huawei Nexus. (But I do not have high hope for it to be something desirable personally.)
The size of X2 is not a problem for me - the bigger, the better ?. If I only could get it locally on my side without importing from China...

You have a really tough choice as there isn't anything that comes to mind that slots right in. My girlfriend has the Mega 6.3 and her brother then got the Sony Z Ultra. It looked to be a nice and comparable phone. It is slightly bigger than the Mega but I think you would soon get used to it. The brother loved it. It can be had for a good price now but see if you can get your hands on one to play with. In some senses it is a bit of sideways move but you're not looking for something too advanced and you can get Lollipop for it. I think it's the only one that comes close to your personal prerequisites.
