[Q] May have bricked my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S. Any help? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After having this phone for a year, i decided that it was time to get root access. After following these instructions for unlocking the bootloader: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions , witch went perfectly well, I used this technique http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871981 for getting root access. Everything went excellent, but when I, using the free version of Titanium Backup, tried to remove one of the frustratingly useless system apps (I don't remember the name, it was something with "fun" i think and the logo was black with yellow stripes or something), and the phone were supposed to reboot all I got was a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the center in front of an arrow pointing down towards a cellphone before the phone powered down. Whenever I turn it on again, I just get the same visual message before the phone turns off. When I link the phone to my computer it does not register anything. I have checked this list http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470 to see if the app i removed was one of the criticals and I am quite confident it is not. If anyone knows something that can help me, I would really love some help because this is killing me!!

[Q] Phone won't boot, blue led stays on

Edit: Please lock or delete this thread. I've reposted the question in the correct forum.
Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I hope I won't somehow piss anyone off. I'm just looking for a little advice or guidance.
Device: SPH-D710 Samsung Galaxy S2 on Sprint (CDMA). It was running the latest over the air ICS update. It was not rooted.
Background: Starting about a month ago the phone began to occasionally restart on its own. Also, my clock widget began to disappear randomly, no matter how many times I would put it back on the screen. Would occasionally crash on resource heavy apps like chrome or facebook.
Problem: While running an app the phone crashed. I pulled the battery and restarted it. It never booted. The screen remains completely black and the blue LED light stays on. I've tested a different battery, it wasn't the problem. I've plugged it into my computer and it does not see the device.
Question: I'm pretty sure this phone is bricked but would love confirmation (whether you can confirm or tell me how I can confirm). What I really care about is being able to access the data that was on the phone. Is there any way I can access the data? The sprint store said it would be 50 bucks to look at it and if they can't fix it they would get me a new phone. I really don't care about a new phone. Is there anything that they can do to recover my data that I can't?
Basically, is there anything I can do to access the internal memory files? (Secondary question is can I fix the phone).
Thank you in advance for your input and excuse me if I haven't followed all common etiquette on this forum. (I did search the topic).
Hello wukilaflee
Can you access the download or recovery mode of your phone? Take a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II_Series At some point it says to activate "USB debugging". Since your phone doesn't boot up just try the key combination. Please report in which modes your phone boots up.
To partially answer the question of your files/data: If you used an external sd-card you can pull it out of the phone and put it into your computer (maybe you need an adapter). But most of the files will be on the internal storage of the phone. That's the tricky part. But first of all answer the question above. If it boots in download/recovery phone I'm pretty sure that it's not totally bricked

Hello Experience7, the OP clearly states they've realised they posted in the wrong forum & has now re-posted to the correct forum.
Sorry, I thought this is already the "moved" post. Thanks.

[Q] After rooting, help please..Amaze 4g TMobile

I used Amaze - all in one kit 5.2 by Hasoon 2000. It did not go well on first run through. Was all good, got my unlock code and bootloader unlocked. Next, Permroot was supposed to push SuperSU.zip into sd card and boot back into Recovery, it didn't boot back into Recovery. I tried a redo, no go, when booting into Recovery, I got the green arrowed circle with another arrow in the middle, then a red triangle. I eventually found the Recovery Installer for Noobs... ran it, it worked and I was able to install SuperSU. Went to apps, it was rooted.
Meanwhile, after boot, I get a bunch of print on the side of the screen that is scrolling, can't get rid of it. It is on my screen at all times. This happened when the boot into Recovery failed. I don't know what happened or how to get rid of it.
Also, I then installed a Tethering app for rooted phones. It won't work. I can use FoxiFi but I didn't need to root for that. The whole purpose of rooting my phone was so that I could use a good tethering app without being charged twice by Tmobile.
Any help would be greatly appreciated on getting rid of the scrolling screen print on the right side of the screen and also to get the Tethering to work properly.
Do I need to do a factory reset and start over? Will a factory reset take it back to the way it was before this?
I have screen shot of the scrolled printing but I can't see how to attach it. But it looks like this:
7.44/10.12/10.01
com.android.system
system_server
comandroid phone
k.worker /0.0
sys.manager
etc, and changes every second. not really scrolling but changing in length and in what it is showing. It's like it is showing active commands on the screen and I don't know how to turn it off.
Try:
Menu/system settings/develop options/....
Now scroll to the bottom to User Interface and see if any of those boxes are ticked. Untick any that are.
Report back with results.

[Q] Serious Help with rooting and upgrading Samsung Tab

Whats up XDA,
I joined this forum just to get some serious help. (If this is posted in the wrong area could someone move it...I'm a new guy here.)
I bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH-i800 so that I can mount it within my car dashboard so I can use it for music, navigation, and to be able to use the torque app with my car. My plan is to run tasker so that when the car is on (or when the tablet gets a charge) it automatically turns on and stays on. And then when the car is turned off (or when there is no charge) the screen turns off, and then after an hour of inactivity it automatically turns off. I noticed that to be able to automatically turn on/off the tablet requires to be rooted, and while I am rooting it I figured I'd upgrade it from 2.3 to 4.0 or higher.
Now, I've done my fair share of computing: I'm familiar with torrents, keygens, cracks, I've also accomplished several circuit board repairs for my car stereo, car window switches, and my macbook. But when it comes to software I'm more of an apple person, windows and android frustrate me.
So, back on track...this whole Root thing is driving me completely crazy!! I really don't get it. I've been working on it for like 4 days straight!!!!
I've been looking all over the internet, trying to figure out this stupid heimdall program, looking all over this forum, I've probably clicked over a hundred broken links. Gaaaahhh!!!! I did some research I thought a one click root would be super easy and resolve my frustration....
I tried superoneclick, didn't work.
z4Root: didn't work.
Gingerbreak: didn't work.
So now, after doing more looking around I've been following these two video's which seemed to finally take me somewhere!
1. youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=WPXCTzChhSc
2. youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=xQ3_wth1hSM
After following them (I've been using the download links from video 1, and following the steps in video 2) I'm at the 10:40 mark on video 2 and I go to boot up my tab and nothings changed, and more importantly the touch screen is way the hell off! up is left, down is right, right is up, and left is down! and also it won't power off, it seems like it powers down, it shows the verizon logo and makes the sound, but immediately after that your back at the home screen.
This is insane!!!!!!
This whole root and upgrade process is just killing me!!!!
Is there anyone out there who has rooted their Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 that can walk me through EXACTLY what they did?!
Does anyone know of any alternatives to my problem??? Can I shut down my device without having to root it? When its in the dashboard I can't hit the power button that's why I need this to work.

[HELP] Damaged my phone, remote control without root.

Hi All,
Not sure where to post for help, so apologies if this isn't the correct place.
A few days ago I dropped a padlock on my Xperia Z2 screen and it shattered completely. The display still works fine but obviously, doesn't respond to touch, I can see notifications still popping up. Luckily, I was due an upgrade and so am replacing the phone.
However, I want to make sure I get everything I can off my phone (ideally photos, videos and backing up Whatsapp messages (I thought this setting was enabled, but using my "backup phone", I see I've lost about a year of conversations/media) and wipe it.
I'm quite techy (I work in IT) but have minimal experience "hacking around" with Android and just wondered if anyone could help or even just point me in the right direction.
For me the ideal solution would be to do something like along the line of "How to Remote View and Control Your Android Phone" from HowToGeek (can't post URL sorry), but it requires root, so I'm open to suggestions.
FYI - It's an Xperia Z2 on EE (UK) and, I believe (from memory) that the bootloader is locked.
Many thanks in advance,
Dex

If the display works enough you could use an otg cable and connect an usb mouse to it to unlock the phone then connect it to a pc and copy everything off the phone that you need.
