Hi Friends,
Following are the details of my SONY XPERIA SOLA phone. This was purchased in DUBAI and is now being used in INDIA with a Vodafone SIM.
--------------------------------------
Android Version: 2.3.7
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7+
Build Number: 6.0.b.3.184
--------------------------------------
I have tried all possible steps (Using PC companion and SUS) to update it to ICS and failed.
My question:
-what would be the best stable version of android for my phone?
-what would be the simplest way to upgrade it?
PLEASE NOTE: Went through the recommended similar threads, couldn't find any with the title I have given for this post.
Thanks in advance.

Hey, don't worry... The worse that can happen is that you lose your information... I know it sucks, but I think the only way to get it back to work again is to restore the phone's software...
If you have PC Companion installed in your computer all you have to do is turn off the phone (or remove the battery) and then run the PC companion software and clic on update/repair software... then plug your phone by pressing the back button and release the button until the led light turns green... then just follow the on-screen process... it's not that hard!
Let me know if this works out for you!
what do you do before that? and flashmod run or not because there is a siple solution if it run . flash a generic version or use seus but you loose all in your phone

Anyone know where I can download a stock rom?
You will first need to relock the bootloader.
Follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335
After following theese instructions, your phone will be UNBOOTABLE.
Then start the SE PC companion and choose software update, it won't find the phone(because it's bricked ) so it will offer to repair it, just follow the onscreen instruction and PC companion will flash the stock rom on the phone.
NOTE: THESE INSTRUCTION MAY SEEM SCARY AND THEY CAN BRICK YOUR PHONE, BE CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS!!! ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE ERASED SO MAKE A BACKUP!!!

Wotanserver works well but it doesn't relock the bootloader. If the bootloader stays unlocked you won't be able to do FOTA updates.

Bootloader have two types: Locked Bootloader and Unlocked Bootloader. Normally Developers will provide 2 version of ROMs to be flashed. Safest flashing for Locked Bootloader is via Xrecovery, while Unlocked Bootloader is Flash FTF Kernel and recommended Recovery. You can check/identify your Bootloader Status and also Simlock Certificate (see whether Suitable to be unlocked bootloader) via S1tool by senior 9luka5
link for S1tool here For more tutorial, you can visit my signature links for PDf guides. Thank you. Cheers

Download the latest version of flashtool v0.9... I think u can unlock bootloader by going to "plugins" tab right next to help....it would show up only if your bootloader is locked... once you unlock then you can flash any kernel you want... remember to backup your existing ROM using recovery before you go around messing with phone

BTW you can't flash custom kernel without unlocking bootloader.. you need to unlock bootloader to flash kernel... kernels are usually ftf files you can download them and flash using flashtool.... different ROMs have different kernel so you need to read instructions on ROM thread you r interested in...

Look in my signature, there's the rooting guide. Look at Step to (rooting for 4.0.2.A.0.62/69), there's explained how to use flashtool step by step and so you can flash the rom It's with many pictures, so you should understand
It's stock gingerbread and you don't need to flash a kernel boot.img, because in this ftf file it is integrated as a kernel.sin. Just flash it and hope your phone's back

Or try another firmware version first for example gingerbread...
Move all the ftf files to firnware folder, that would be C:/Flashtool/Firmware

Guys, I want some help.
I just upgrade my Xperia U using Pc Companion and I got this Firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54
I tried to Root via Flashtool, via Byn4ry root files and nothing worked.
Can anyone provide me a link where I can root my sweat Phone?
Thanks in advance
To root that firmware you need to first flash B.10 kernel then Root and then again .54 kernel
Flash only Kernel of 6.1.1.B.1.10
Root with Bin4ry V13 (New version doesn't work)
Once rooted, flash only kernel from the .54

Whenever you manually flash a stock firmware either 2.3 or 4 u have to root it again. Don't flash the whole rom, just flash the b.10 kernel, root using bin4ry, and again flash just .54 kernel.
bin4ry

Unfortunately bin4ry doesn't work for me... it goes through the whole process but at the end it says something like ..
copying files error ( are you rooted? ).
complete.
any ideas how else to do it..

Like I said it is going to the end but not rooting. It is only rooting when I flash the pre-rooted img

Ok......all done!
In case anybody else is having the same problem this is what i did.
I used bin4ry on my up to date unrooted xperia U. Android version 4.0.4 build 6.1.1.B.1.10.
I was getting errors saying "adb server out of date" but i left it to go to the end anyway.
restarted my phone but when it came to enter my password for my sim card the screen was faded. so i re-flashed the up to date android version again making my phone unrooted again!
then tried bin4ry again and this time it worked without any adb errors and restarted the phone to find that i have superuser app and all is good.
Thanks for previous posts offering help..

Good. You should always check the drivers if they are installed correctly or not.
-Connect your device to PC
-Open Flashtool.
-Goto Help, Check drivers.
-List of ADB devices must be present.
when loading the b 10 kernel into the flashtool,do i also have to put loader sin into the firmware on flashtool aswell?
