Hi, It's the first time I'm writing here, I follow XDA-developpers since last July, and especially the topic with the Mackay Rom.
And if I'm here is that I've a problem with my sgs I9000.
I think that it's not the first time that it happens, but for me it is.
My Galaxy S, under JB 4.2.2 Mackay ROM 2.8.6 (is?) (was ?) rooted, like most of our phones, but since à few days some apps would not work correctly, and they say "Your phone is not rooted", or something like that.
But I still have Superuser, and Titanium backup, and Titanium says: "Rights of Superuser OK for Titanium Backup".
But BatteryCalibration says "Root your device first", and others says the same.
I've tried to go back to another kernel, flashed also another Mackay Rom, but nothing changed.
So I know one way to root:
Back to a stock Rom (2.3.6) with Odin, Root with Odin, Flash again, and install gapps again (with playstore) but I hope that there's another way to do that.
Thanks for your help.
And very sorry if 'Im not in the right topic,

PM the dev about the issue or report it in its own thread. I guess it's the issue with superuser app. Even i had similar issue with superuser ( on a different ROM though, a different phone ). Ask the dev to switch to supersu. ( like make a flashable zip ) That actually fixed things for me in the past.

Hi,
I've got it.
Someone in another topic told me that ha had a few time ago the same problem.
He says "try to install another Superuser".
I did it, but directly from the playstore to my sgs was not the right way and I tried it through recovery with a zip file.
And that works. Great.
Thanks,

I had used the amaze 4g all in one tool kit to unlock my bootloader, install a custom recovery, and then installed a custom rom (bullet proof 2.5) along with the provided kernel to go with it.
The phone worked great for a few days, then I noticed that it was acting like the wireless network radios were turned off in the software. They were still enabled so I rebooted and it fixed the problem for a little while.
Now my phone will only give me the com.android.phone has stopped working error and will not let me turn on the wireless network radios.
I have tried complete wipe of the phone and re-installation of the custom rom. I have tried different, yet still recommend, custom kernels, as well as different recoveries all with the same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching with out any good results.
Thanks.

are you running joes "one good rom"? dude it says right in the op
Attention 2: on the first start "com.android.phone" process will FC, it is normal.
It's because of Toggle2G app. Just open that app and give it permission to run.

I actually stated in my first post what rom I was running when all this happened.
I have tried Joes "one good rom" and followed all his kernel and set up instructions with no luck. On his rom I don't get the error message, but all of the wireless network options are grayed out. I am starting to think it might be something hardware.

Hi. I decided to add to this thread instead of starting a new one since i am having a similar problem. The originator never said if he was able to solve the problem. I was using the Energy ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759) (ICS, S-ON) and everything was fine. I decided to try the Speed ROM (project "butter" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623184) which is Jellybean based. I did a full wipe, and after installing it I got the same com.android.phone error. I got it to stop, but then started having other issues like Superuser, BusyBox, and Titanium Backup unable to get root access. Unable to find any other solutions, I decided to restore to stock, which went fine (well I had to try a few times as I haven't done it before). After that, and having the phone working fine back at stock ICS I reflashed the Speed ROM. I ended up with the same issue. I wiped again and returned to the Energy ROM and it seems to be working fine. My quesiton is, why is the Speed ROM not working on my phone? When it flashed there were no issues, and I followed the instrucitons exactly.
I would post in the Speed ROM forum but I don't have enough posts yet since I am usually able to find answers by searching.

Thank you! After I posted I ran across somehting in the speed rom thread that made me go back to the original post. Sure enough, there is a download link for SuperSU which it says you need to flash to gain root after installng the ROM. I guess I read the instructions above, scrolled down to the rom download link, and then stopped. I will try this again with what you suggested when I have time in the next day or two.

I have a bell Galaxy S2. Today I rooted it and after hours of confusion, I finally managed to install resurrection remix 4.04 ICS on my phone.
So far I've run into tons of issues:
1) No GPS
2) No wifi (stuck on 'obtaining IP address, unlikely that this is my network's fault)
3) No software buttons, so I can't multitask (have to use task killer to kill unused apps right now)
4) Rom Control crashes everytime I go into the Navigation bar page
The phone in it's current state is useable, but I will go back to stock settings if I can't fix these problems. Maybe there is a better ROM out there? Though I heard resurrection remix is the best one. Also, could it be that I installed the wrong kernel? The one I installed is:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5
Can somebody help me out? Any tips would be appreciated.
EDIT: I just realized that USB connectivity (file transfer) doesn't work either - not even in clockwork menu!

Sounds like you might have flashed the wrong kernel for your phone.
did you first check what was the original kernel on your phone? acutally, run me through your root process so i can figure where you went wrong, because the Resurrection remix rom is just about perfect
I know it was KG2 kernel originally. Don't remember the other numbers.
I'm now on a different kernel because when I used KG2, the phone wouldn't work at all (the buttons were screwy).
The process went something like this:
1. Rooted KG2 kernel installed
>Phone still works like before, but rooted
2. Put Res remix rom on my phone's storage
3. Go into clockwork recovery
4. Flash/Recovery
Format /system
Wipe Cache
5. Install ROM from SD card - twice (since the video I was watching told me to do it twice)
>Phone turns on but the buttons don't work so I can't navigate menus
6. Install CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5
>Buttons sort of work now but lots of problems
>All of my old files/music are still on the phone despite all that format/recovery stuff. Is that normal?
Now when I try to install KG2 kernel phone doesn't even turn on. If it helps, the phone currently tells me the baseband is I9100MUGKG2
k, yep you missed the gapps install. did you make a backup in CMW recovery before you flashed remix?

whats wrong with you brother? installing CF-root on an AOKP rom???? CF-root is matched with the Kernel not with the Baseband.

It's the I9100M (bell) and the Kernel before I started was KG2. I already mentioned this.
@kilometers4 that's the exact kernel I tried the first time (from that tutorial) but it didn't work.

Ok, some good news.
I installed the CF-ROOT KG2 kernel.
I went into recovery, formatted/wiped everything that needs to be done. (Then USB connectivity began to work!) so I put a 2.3 Cyanogen Mod on there and now everything seems to work (USB, WIFI) except for the home button. I still can't exit out of applications.

Yes but I can't find any other rooted kernels out there that will work for my phone. I've googled it but all the GS2 rood/mod tutorials I've seen use CF-Root.
If you can let me know what kernel or rom to install that would be great. I'm not going to touch my phone until I figure out what to do.

Why not start with a working phone + a nandroid backup before you start playing with roms .
Stock rom + CWM and root kernel = Nandroid backup .
If CM does not work then read the CM thread faqs and instructions .
jje
first of all get into reserection remix thread and ask whether this ROM supported for I9100M or not, if yes ask somebody can provide CWM flashable CM9 kernel (if it is the original kernel of your rom) then flash from CWM and try..

Hi all
I'm not even sure that's the right section :\
I recently installed the latest MIUI Italian rom (It shall be version 3.7.12) and it worked like a charm (installed with full wipes)... Until today.
I was simply browsing Facebook when the entire phone freezed.
I tried to reboot keeping pushed the Power button, but after Samsung bootscreen (not the one animated, the one before the kernel), black screen.
I tried to:
- Wipe cache & dalvik
- Fix permissions
- Re-flash the rom without any wipe
- Removing the battery and putting it back again inside
But no clue, no one of my solution worked, so I restored a previous AOKP backup.
Since I thought that finally i've found my perfect rom, and i've set all the apps, i'd rather not wipe...
How can I get that device fixed?
And PS: Sorry for my english

It's because this that I'm asking here
So...I'm stuck I can't seem to figure out how I can flash CM 12 as I get the attached image stating "Installation Aborted"
For the record.
- Used Sunshine to get s-off
- Rooted through King-root
- Installed ROM Manager. Updated latest CWM v. 6.0.4.5 (latest ROM Manager is allowing me to update).
- Flashed into recovery, factory reset, wiped cache, and dalvik cache (followed instructions: Google Search "android 5.1 Lollipop htc dna" click the link from trueandroid)
- Now stuck at the attached image.
Anyone have any insight into what I'm doing wrong? Links to how-to's would be greatly appreciated if there is a solution to this problem out there already. Appreciate your comments and feedback!
Thanks would love to start using CM 12 on the DNA and give this phone some more life!

Hey thanks for the links above I was able to get the ROM flashed. Super happy with CM 12.1. I am however draining my battery at lightening speed. It looks like from full to empty is done in about 2 hrs.
Any direction on how to improve this?
- I've turned off Google Play location services.
Also I do love running the latest ROM's out there, but if this is going to persist - do you know a ROM that creates the longest battery life for the DNA and still keeps the best performance?
Thanks again!

Hey Baku - so I tried to get TricksterMod then I realized I lost Root Access. I tried Weak Sauce and Kingroot, but neither are working. It looks like i have S-Off since I am able to boot to CWM as stated above, but that's not how I flashed CM12 - I used TWRP as you suggested.
I figure once I get root again I will be able to use TWRP manager and TricksterMod as you suggest. Any guidance on how I can get my root access again?
Thanks!

I use CM12.1 on the latest nightly, with crpalmer 6.0.1 kernel updated by @jamiethemorris. I haven't used either of those apps, but I'll see if I have any issues once my internet decides to work right.
Marshmallow for this device, keeps crashing as it is (com.android.phone, RIL). Getting the problem solved is easy, @puntoazul already written something like that, but I managed to get everything that has to be flashed in a single post.

- UNIVERSAL NFC DESTROYER - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3280610&d=1429942749 (thanks to @-CALIBAN666- for developing it), yeah, it's made for lollipop but works perfectly.

When you're done, do a factory reset and reboot your device. Then, enjoy Marshmallow .
EDIT: Media.zip seems to be a mistyped step, I haven't found it and it wasn't needed to get a successful startup on my device.
EDIT: It seems like it's needed, anyways, I haven't found it, waiting for @EdwinMoq to answer.

Marshmallow for this device, keeps crashing as it is (com.android.phone, RIL). Getting the problem solved is easy, @puntoazul already written something like that, but I managed to get everything that has to be flashed in a single post.

Ive been experiencing the same problems you have, but i found my own alternate way. Since this phone isnt my daily driver, i used lucky patcher to remove the phone services app aka com.android.phone from the system.Everything is fixed, all stabilized and smooth. I still get crashing from phone and messaging storage, but no lag or stability issues. But ill try this anyway to try to completely remedy the crashing
As only two entries for Orange seem to be missing in the APN database: Does everyone need that fix because the APN list is totally corrupted by this, or only certain Orange customers?

For a better stability, you must flash it. For example, running this ROM without this patch, the RIL keeps crashing, taking in mind that Movistar and Tuenti (a lesser know Argentina provider, a recently started provider), are not being detected.
I'll wait for the next build. Then probably use it as a Wireless AP, as there are huge problems resulting from the small data partition and Ram. I still hope that MMs z-buffer feature provides some solution. This whole mess started about half a year ago and getting worse, on the L9 and a similarly featured tablet with CM11, so it's not the rom's fault. The tablet has plenty of space on the data partition, however, but ram and SoC face similar problems.
My current wireless AP is an Iphone 4s with only 0,5GB Ram. And it's is still working reliably, no apps freezing and fcing, and I can access websites which will make Firefox on the L9 and said tablet quit every time.
All the affected apps seem to deal with HTML code and are supposed to use the system webview engine. Updating the Google webview engine is possible with CM12.1 and 13, but to no avail, only taking space on the data partition.

Well. I tried it. No crashing at all with A-Gapps or Gapps mini
But I kept getting kernel panics, even while charging. So I reverted to my system modified nandroid backup in which I uninstalled Phone services aka com.Android. phone and disabled Phone and messaging storage app.

As i have previously explained in original thread all of these files in a single go. with order defined
1) Goto TWRP recovery can also use new TWRP 3.0.2.0 (i have already installed marshmallow without any errors)
2) Wipe system, Cache and Davic
3) Flash rom
4) Flash Media.zip
5) Flash A-GAPPS_6.0.1_09022016.zip
6) Flash APNFixer4CM13.zip
7) If you have a p768 flash campatch
Also flashed NFC Destroyer so that on booting for the first time... i did'n encountered any error at all.. i have been using this ROM as my daily driver and never encountered any kernel panic or ant other error also i didn't faced any rotation problem. its working fine as it should be. Only thing i am concerned about is battery, it drains very fast, tweaking with kernel auditor didn't help me either. other then this i haven't faced any problem, everything is working fine, i'm able to install Xposed framework without any problem.. Great work......
I have also tried this with New TWRP Recovery.... worked like a charm

Can you tell me your real phone model? There're some hard incompatibilities between the P760 and the P769.

The kernel panics that you're experiencing, are also being faced by most of the people who has tried the P760 build in the P769, please check the ROM @EdwinMoq 's post and download the special build for this model, and try again. Then, please tell me how it goes.

Well specifically, i used the p769 version. i tried apn fixer, nfc destroyer and media.zip, but the problem persisted. so i just reverted back to my nandroid backup in which i uninstalled com.android.phone aka phone services and disabled phone and messaging storage.I have it stable this way without kernel panics and using gapps mini since this isnt my daily driver. My galaxy core prime is SMG360T1.

That's quite strange, seems like a bad kernel. For me, using the P760 (in the P778g, Argentina, LATAM) works fine, both speakers (front and rear) and headphones.
When the headphone amp starts to clip/overdrive, this is accompanied by an unplugging event for the headphones. Artas' CM11 and CM12.1 are affected, too, but I could get my P760 to work with decent and stable sound output. While in Rammar's PA sound volume was even lower than with the stock rom(too low for even bothering to take the headphones with me) , CM12.1 is loudest. In order to not accidentially trip clipping and unplugging events, which will also reset volume to safety level, requiring to turn it up and clip again etc etc, Ilimited max volume to 80% in the Headset Button Controller app, which allows to control volume via headset mic button.
