Not able to boot in to Recovery mode with ROM Manager - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't think I'm a noob....I had Froyo running on my TP2 for a while back in the day but am stuck on getting my Sprint GS3 on stable Cyanogen.
My device is rooted and I have ROM Manager v5.5.2.3 installed from the Play Store.
I click on Recovery Setup and selected the ClockworkMod Recovery under the 'Install or Update Recovery' option.
The Recovery shows my d2spr device and I leave the Touch set to off.
The Recovery makes it through all 100 items and looks like it completes but then I get "An error occurred while flashing your recovery."
I don't know if that's because it may be already installed.
If so, under 'Recovery Already Installed' I select my device and it asks to confirm version: ClockworkMod 2.x or ClockworkMod 3.x+.
I selectg the 3.x+ and the message that ROM Manager has been set up to use my existing recovery installation.
I click Reboot into Recovery and click OK on the prompt to reboot into recovery mode but nothing happens.
When I manually go in to recovery it's the standard <3e> recovery and I don't have the install from SD card option.
What the heck did I goof up....
Any advice is appreciated.

[Q] Can't get into recovery, PG05IMG deleted

Root went fine. I installed Rom Manager and flashed CWM straight away, but I can't access recovery. I've tried through RM and adb, but it just gets stuck at the white screen with the htc logo. I deleted PG05IMG from the SD card.
Any ideas?
Did you give Rom Manager permissions in Super User? It asks for it at the very end, maybe if you weren't paying attention you could have missed it? If you open Rom Manager where it says "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" It should say in small letters underneath it what the current recovery is. Does it say that the current recovery is ClockworkMod 3.1.0.2?

Yeah, the first time I tried to flash it, it gave me a privileges error, but the second time it worked. It says the current recovery is CWM. TitaniumBackup even says that root/busybox is ok, so that's not the problem.
Just flash it over again.
Open RomManager settings and select "Erase Recovery".
Hit menu in RomManager and select "Clear DL Cache" (so it will DL the recover image again).
In a good data area select "Flash Clockworkmod Recovery" again (you can do it a second time to make sure if flashed if you want, doesn't matter).
Sometimes even if RM says it successfully flashed it didn't.
Edit:
[email protected] at the spelling/grammar errors. My bad

I'm willing to bet that ROM manager isn't supported for your device sadly.

[Q] Trouble Flashing CWM Recovery [YP-G70]

Hey guys -
I'm having trouble getting CWM Recovery to work with my YP-G70. I've rooted, installed ROM Manager, wiped data and partitions, installed Odin, Used Odin to (supposedly) flash the DD_01142012.tar recovery to the device. Everything looks successful, but when booting back up ROM manager only gives me the option to go to "recovery setup" instead of the normal flash option. Even when I reboot it in recovery, it just goes to the standard android recovery screen. Any ideas on how to fix this? It may be painfully obvious, this is my first root.

Rom Manager does not work for this device ( I think ) and you should not use it. "DD_01142012.tar" is not just a recovery, it's the kernel too. They are integrated. Flash it again and hold power and vol-up during boot up to get to recovery then flash your rom...

[Q] Have I installed Clockworkmod or not?

I've been following instructions to install Android 4.4 KitKat on Galaxy Mega 6.3 via Cyanogenmod 11.
My device has been rooted for some time, but I have never before installed any ROMs.
I have successfully (it seems) installed Clockworkmod via Odin, yet when I boot into Custom recovery mod, there is no "backup and restore" option, and indeed I seem to be in "Android system recovery", not CWM recovery (see screenshot).
I know that I can't install Cyanogenmod without Clockworkmod on board, so I'm nervous to proceed. Can anyone please advise?

That looks like the standard recovery, not clockwork mod, what model of mega do you have?
You have to reboot to recovery first after flashing custom recovery. That's because the stock ROM checks if the recovery is changed and overwrites it with the stock recovery again.
Rebooting to recovery first will solve the issue.

Thanks for responding guys.
Jzsidebott: It's a Mega 6.3, GT-I9205, in England.
Silesh.Nair: I've installed "ROM Manager" and used "Reboot into recovery", but I get to the same place as before; "Android system recovery <3e>", exactly as the screenshot in my first post.
So I used Odin again, and again apparently successfully installed "GT-I9205-recovery.tar", but still I can only get standard recovery.
Could I ask you guys if you would recommend CyanogenMod Installer?

I'm a newbie at this, so if this method is considered safe I'd be happy to go down that route. Any advice? Cheers.
Don't use ROM manager. Download the cwm tar file and use Odin to flash. Remember to untick auto reboot in Odin and then reboot to recovery first. It will work for sure. Don't flash anything if you are running Knox enabled firmware else you'll screw up your phone.

Thanks. As I said I did use Odin to flash. I just installed ROM Manager afterwards to try to find out whether the Odin Flash had worked. I am a newbie at this and to be honest I have no idea what Knox enabled firmware is or whether I'm running it. I think that for safety's sake I'd best drop the whole thing and not risk bricking my phone, but thank you all for the help all the same.

Help with T769 Tmobile Recovery & Custom ROM on 4.0.4

Hey guys I'm trying to install the Themed ROM for P769 Locked bootloader. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468880) I have the phone rooted from awhile back, i cant recall what i used to root it, the phone is still on 4.0.4, I am trying to put a recovery on it to install this ROM, but I dont see any recoveries for 4.0.4, I've seen a few different ones for JB but I'm not sure if its compatible.
This is the recovery it said to install (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825) but the issue is that the link to the recovery was taken down, so I'm not sure what recovery I can install.
TLDR: I got a rooted T769 on 4.0.4 and i would like to install the themed ROM for T769 with Locked BL.

I'm guessing you mean that you have a P769 T-Mobile version.
Here is a link to the L9 Recovery Installer - https://www.dropbox.com/s/l8tegpmiyh8moa5/L9RecoveryInstaller_1.5.0.apk
Since your already rooted, just make sure that you download and install BusyBox by stericson from the playstore, before installing the L9 recovery installer. It needs BusyBox installed on your device for it to work properly.
Download the Kumakan themed ROM to your external sdcard.
Open the BusyBox app and click on and select the version of BusyBox to install to the device and select version 1.21.0 to install.
Then install the L9 recovery installer app. Open the app and select "Install recovery" then select "jb/ics stable version", then grant it root rights through SuperSU when asked for permission.
Once it says recovery is installed, select power down/reboot the device. After the phone starts to boot up you'll see your front keys blinking this means you have recovery success and to enter into recovery immediately press and hold volume(-) down button while lights are still blinking... You are now in recovery mode. I would highly recommend that you immediately preform a nandroid backup of your L9 right now before doing anything else. Select backup and restore, choose backup and choose backup to external sdcard.
Once the nandroid backup is done then you are free to flash the Kumakan themed ROM that you want to install. Just follow the directions from the ROM thread to install the ROM.

Sorry for the late reply!
Did you make a nandroid backup when you installed and booted recovery?
If so, all you have to do is just reboot to recovery and restore your nandroid backup and you'll be back in businesses.
