Phone shuts down unexpectedly. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I have used rootbox nightlie with no problems than i flashed the stable version and my phone shuts down unexpectedly 2-3 times a day. When I turn it back it starts booting and when the rootbox logo disappears it shuts down again (this is why I think this prob is unique). So after all
i need to connect my charger when rebooting and than the phone turns on perfectly. (I'm using Dorimanx 9.1)
Any suggestion?

dont use dori kernel, reflash the rom using first a kernel wipe script.
probably u messed up some settings on stweaks app
ONE TIP: always use the kernel wich comes with the rom if u dont wanna have any trouble

Reflashing the rom will do that!
The thing is the problem here is dori and all the crazy settings he set up... He needs the stock kernel from rootbox = reflashing rom but forst he meeds to wipe all the crap he made = using a kernel wipe script

try changing your ROM and kernel. i am using CM10.1 on my phone and Dori kernel 9.11.1

ok , if ever you are going to use the Dori kernel man, just dont try to adjust the voltage, just put a check on it, VPLL mode under GPU, CPU wake tuning set to PEGASUSQ, sleep put on sleepy, those are the most important things man. dont change the voltage man, it will cause SOD

I wiped everyhing with a kernel wipe script and reflashed the rom (without Dori) but my phone still freezes a lot. Now everytime a start an app like a game.

I suggest you try a new ROM or flash stock one & then check if it occurs

gpt o the preformance settings built in the rom and use ondemand governor and sio IO scheduler (this scheduler should get that lag away, works for me on CM)

Lockscreen lag on Resurrection Remix 2.3(and on any other rom)

I decided to start a thread because the pages were moving to fast on the RR thread. Like I said in the title,i have lag on the lockscreen, about 1 second after i press the home or power button. I saw in the 2.1 changelog that this lag was fixed with the newest version of siyah's kernel. I installed the rom according to the extended steps of installation so i guess i did something else wrong. If anyone could help me,i would be grateful.
Thanks.

use FLUXI KERNEL, is much better than SIYAH. search on xda for fluxi kernel, flash the latest version.enjoy
I'm using Fluxi, and it still does the same thing.
I used THORAVUKK and that didn't have any lockscreen lag. I'm just testing Fluxi for now. But I prefer THORAVUKK.
Did you wipe data/cache and dalvik?
i had this issue on v2.0 fixed by flashing new siyah using extweaks to remove root and then reboot, which then reinstalls root... then fix permissions. worked a charm.
nice, i will try thoravukk

PAC man rom - soft reboot (i9100)

Hello community. I have a problem with the pac man rom for my Samsung galaxy s2 (i9100).
Always when the screen turns off, a soft reboot happens. Updating to the newest nightly didn't help. So, is that a known issue or am I the only person, who recognized that?
It's pretty annoying, so I hope you can help me. I Googled a lot but couldn't find anything about that. So please don't flame me.....
Thank you

Is this only in nightlies?Have you tried the stable version? What kernel are you using?
26/6/2013 with dori 9.32 ok here.
No. Not only in nightlies. I first had a stable version, but somebody recommended me to try a nightly. As you see... Same problem. I didn't change the kernel when I came from cyanogenmod. I tried the dorimanx 9.13 with the stable version but it was even worse. Instead of a soft reboot, the screen stayed black and I couldn't do anything.
I can try dorimanx with the nightly but I don't think that that would solve the problem.

1) go for a full wipe install.
2)stay on the stock kernel that comes with the rom for a while and see if u have any soft reboot issue.
Oh yes, I tried that in this moment, but with dorimanx and no soft reboot (woohoo). So the reason must hide anywhere in my user data. How can I find out where?
Thank you

its very diff to pin point exactly where the issue is ( may be some left over data of previous rom/kernel/mod/theme might be causing it
but the best solution during it is a Full wipe install
so for now u have a wrk'ng phone without any issue of soft reboots, so enjoy it
cheers!!!!
Ok I can explain it again.
I had cyanogenmod and thought it was cool to use these hybrid options. So I decided to flash pac man rom 23.0.0. I followed the installing instructions in the xda thread of the rom (including wipe data and cache and dalvik cache). After that I played a bit in the options and restored all my apps via titanium backup. But then I experience my first soft reboots. I didn't know why, couldn't find solutions in the Internet. So I tried another kernel: dorimanx. Now I still had soft reboots but without the bootanimation (only black screen).
Then the xda member bluefa1con said I should flash the newest nightly. I did but I still had the soft reboots. Today I wiped everything, flashed the pac man rom again and had no soft reboots (for at least one hour). Ok that's everything.
I don't want an empty phone without my data. I want to keep my apps. So is there a way to find out what's the reason for the soft boots except wiping and restoring app for app and waiting until I have soft reboots again? Maybe only root apps can cause this....
Thank you.

[Q] Problem with siyah 6.0b4

Everytime I do factory reset, the phone boots up, then goes to the first menu where you choose your language, I choose "english" and the phone restarts. In order to fix it I either have to flash a rom or flash other kernel, like siyah 6.0b5.It happens with 3 different realeases of JB.Now, I don't mind using the newer version of siyah, but it doesn't allow me to undervolt some frequencies like 100/300/400/600/700/900Mhz..At least is there a way to enable them somehow?
Have you had this problem?

u mean after reboot seting r reset.
go to data/.syiah and delete all files ,then go to stweak, set again ,do backup and reboot stweak should save ur setings. but latest kernels r fixed .
go with 8.40 and u forgot about syiah, cos syiah left s2 and no more updates . tbh only 1 real option is dorimanx. rest r like plastic toys.
any way u dnt need other aps to set ur cpu , steeak is enough.

The only thing i don't like about dormi is that the minimum, for max frequency is 1000mhz; with siyah I could downclock to 800mhz. Anyway, can't use it because of this bug...

XGo reboots at least once when powering up

Can anyone help me? My phone reboots when I power it up. I use latest phantom kernel with stock Rom. So, I hold the power button, the phone turns on, I see the phantom kernel logo, then I see the Xperia logo, it kinda blinks for a second, when it reappears it does it again, then it continues for 2 seconds, I see the Sony waves thingy, the same thing happens 2-3 times, then it reboots and loads as if nothing happened!(or it does it again 1 more time)
The weird part is that it was alright a few days ago but this thing has scared the heck out of me! Help me pls!
Sent from my ST27i using xda app-developers app
That's the rom bootlooping. It could be caused by any problem. If it finally boots then it should not be a problem. (but I guess you should backup your data if problem increases (I suggest using Onandroid as you can make full nandroids without booting into recovery)) alternatively you can try to remove your int.d scripts and see if it helps. But make a nandroid before trying anything)

I believe the Phantom kernel has init.d support built-in.
You can check to see if you have any init.d scripts in /etc/init.d with Root Explorer or FX file manager with FX Root Access or any file manager that can access the root fs.
Can you still go to the home screen? If not, the best bet is that you need to re-install the ROM. Bootloops happened to me many times while playing with my Xperia, installing custom fonts, and due to that I never got scared of bootloops anymore cause I can always revive my Xperia.
Install the ROM again if you experience bootloops. Cheers
