Big problem! - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have totally bricked my vibrant by trying to update it to froyo 2.2 using kies when I had a gingerbread bootloader on it .. it bricked it!
I tried using a jig I bought off amazon and it didn't work. Odin does not recognize anything! Is there any way to recover my person data on their? I only need my music and photos with videos. That's all! No apps or app data. Is their a way?

AW: Big problem!
It depends, if you have your stuff on the external sd card. Open your phone get the micro sd card and put it with an adapter like usb or card reader in your pc/laptop. Then you can backup your files.

[help] sd card damaged!

Hey guys I was messing around with kaosgingerbread earlier and I made a nandroid backup of KGB but after rebooting, my phone reported that my sd card was damaged and I need to reformat to fix it. I can't mount it or access it. I tried restoring an earlier nandroid and it restored perfectly fine but still reported the card as damaged. I sadly have not been backing up my files like I should've so I have some important files that I don't want to lose but I cant mount it to my pc.
I was wondering if there was any way I could save those files. Is it possible to pull the files to my pc with adb? Should I get a mini sd to sd adapter and plug it in directly to my pc? Or am I pretty much screwed and should just cut my losses at this point?

if i were you id use the sd adapter and see if itll mount to pc that way and if it wont mount you might just have to start fresh by reformatting on your phone thru setting\sd storage....hope that helps

Have you tried to boot in recovery and use usb toggle to access your sd card?

No I have not ill try that now see how it works, thanks!
Edit: just tried it out no luck says I have to reformat it to access the files, if that's the case, will it be pointless to try the sd adapter? Is reformatting my only option at this point?

Well decided to bite the bullet and reformat had some issues doing it from the phone so I had to boot into recovery and use usb ms toggle and reformat from windows but it fixed the issue.
Now my question is does anyone know what caused the issue to begin with?

Q. SD Card damaged?

I installed CM7 recently and flashed CM7 OTB newest test 2.6.35.13 kernel. it's been great until a reboot I did just now...it says damaged sd card, reformat blah.
is there a way to revert it? I can't format my sd since I have important documents inside...
I had this problem too. I just pulled the sd card out and put it back in a few times and it started working again
Try it, can't hurt. Maybe I was just lucky though.

Oddly enough I have the same problem. No matter what my sd looks jacked. I mounted and saved to a pc but no matter what it won't save anymore and won't format.... Odd.
I'm terrified...I can't get into recovery and even if I do I have no access to files. Can someone tell me how to fix my sd card?...I need to recover my files inside.
Use a card reader and save your **** on a pc. If you can at this point.

My Xperia X10 does not recognize the memory card

Hello, guys. My Xperia X10 does not recognize my memory cards. I have tested 2 differents micro sd in it, booth are 2gb. I thought that the error could be in the phone, but the sim card is recognize by it. What's going on with my phone? Is there some update to fix it? Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.
Have you tried to format the cards first on phone or computer?

I tried to format on pc because the memory card is not recognized on my phone. I got the phone pre-owned, it belonged to brother, and I do not know if could be some issue in the firmware. Is there any kind of driver that I have to install to my phone recognize the memory card?
Do you have a memory card reader for the computer? If you do, put the memory card in there, not the phone and format the card. If you don't have a memory card reader, I suggest you buy one. The memory card readers usually hook up through usb.
This shouldn't require any extra drivers to read the card.

I already solved it. I just installed another room and my phone can now recognize any micro sd. Anyway, thanks for helping.

I have a branded x10a from att and I used the ftf x10i 2.3.3 rom and I'm having this same issue, the phone doesn't recognize the sd. I've tried formatting with a pc, different sd, and nothing. I put the 2.1 rom again and works just fine so It's something with the 2.3.3 rom any suggestions?

If I recall, you need the usb mass storage fix for 2.3. Look in the development section. If I remember correctly. Or its the new gingerbread ready xrecovery for 2.3?

I had this same issue, my xperia is also x10a. After install 2.1 rom I saw that my phone still can read my ms. So I installed a generic version of gingerbread for x10i models again then I patched it with this rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988 ) and now my phone can recognize any memory cards.
please help my x10i not recognise mmc

What about update.zip? It is needed anymore on root of the sd card?

You can simply delete the update.zip file without any problems.

You need to keep update.zip on root of sdcard. It doesnt enter recovery mode if you not copy it back.

For such stuff, using the Droid Tool is the best way:

Format it with your android phone, or in recovery, not with your PC.
