Your devise cannot play any media with stock media player while media scan is running ( small sd card sign at notification bar). Let it complete to play media files like music and videos. Once scan completed you can play any media.

NA did all that. I ended up downloading a decent player from market that does its own scans. I don't think my phone scans at boot anymore

Okay then try this, using any file manager open music folder and tap on any media file then select player to play it, and also give a try to play that file with stock player and what music player you using if possible then post screen shot of error you are getting..

just curious! Have you disabled MEDIA SERVER in app manager by any chance? may not be the reason but just confirming.

I have this exact same problem. I don't mind playing my music/videos from a file manager, but this also disables my freaking CAMERA. Trying to open my camera/video recorder just gives the same "Try again after media scanning complete" error message, even though the media scanner is not running.
Do I need to create some more folders on the SD card? Probably just going to try formatting and trying again, but I am so sick of doing that with this phone. If LG didn't make it practically unusable by default, it wouldn't be necessary D:<
Well guys i switched my internal and external sd and my phone scans at boot. At this second im going to try and run stock media player and see if my music shows up.. brb
Update.. my stock media player is Sh*t now and just scans usb.. im guessing cuz i switched my memories? One thing i havent tried is putting my sd card music files onto my internal sd card music folder. The only reason im not pressed to fix the issue is because the media player i downloaded is better than stock player and soon JB will be out for p769 so ill have to switch internal/external memory again. I think then my stock player will play. Its weird tho my stock player should simply scan for music files on device and sd card. Idk whats so hard about that

Can you post the forum/thread where you got your information about swapping external with internal sd. I want to know because i might be able to help. I know of two threads, and i combined information from both and everything has been working fine.

I got mine working without a format. I was using RemountSD and a script running from SManager.
I had to go into RemountSD and change to the settings posted by arman4o in the "App data on external SD" L9 thread:
arman4o said:
Try RemountSD
ICS Settings:
Interne SD - /mnt/sdcard
External SD - /mnt/sdcard/external_sd
Target external SD card - /mnt/sdcard
JB Settings:
Interne SD - /storage/Sdcard0
External SD - /sorage/Sdcard0/external_sd
Target external SD card - /storage/sdcard0

These settings in RemountSD took care of my media scanning issues (as soon as I rebooted the media scanner started up, when before it was freezing), and now I can use my camera again.
Unfortunately now my 32gb microSD card is no longer showing as my primary internal storage. In fact, it's not showing up at all. But at this point I already have all the large games installed to the microSD that I needed (and even though it doesn't show up under storage, the games still work), so I am just going to wait until a JB 769 ROM before I mess with all this crap again.

Ok I just updated my phone to wolf's rom v4.0.4 and now somethings wrong with my sd card. my music is gone but it didn't open up any space. it wouldn't be a problem if the space had been freed up. What do i do. should i format the sd card.

OK guys! Now don't hate me. I know this has probably been asked many times before. So don't hate me, just looking for help. I download a lot of my music from the app called " mp3 music downloader". My question is " all my songs are being put into my USB storage not my external SD card. I have a 32 gig SD card that I want all my music to download too. Well one is how do I move all my music files from my USB to SD storage? and 2 how do I set it up that whenever I download music it automatically goes on my external SD card? Thank you to anyone that is willing to help a newbie.

I believe in the USB settings you must select, "mass storage mode" when connected
When you plug your note into your computer- if you run windows autoplay should recognise 2 seperate forms of storage. Usueally drive," I: " is your external SD
You can open both and simply recognise the difference between the two and your computer will recognise the amount of storage on both there is. So it should be easy to identify your external SD
For your sake, if your transferring music or anything for that matter organize it on your computer into folders- although generally the note recognizes the entire card with or without orginization; I just prefer not to mix my music with my backups in the same place
If you have any further questions feel free to PM me!

Wait nvm there's an easier way. Go to the ssettings of the app and change the directory to your external SD
From your phone download an app called astro file manager
Fine where your music is, cut and paste it to your external SD
What I described above is for the transfer of files through a computer but you can use your phone! Ignore my first post

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I did want to know how to do this from the phone only. I also went into setting under my music app mp3 music downloaded. There is no selection. Probably a ****ty app. But works great. I will try astro file manager. But does this mean every time I download a song I will basically have to do a copy and paste deal?

Well I checked the music app I use. Under settings there's no selection for where the music fies are downloaded. It automatically puts it in usb storage. I'm going to have to try another music app. Thanks for the help. But I did move all the files to the external SD card. Using Astro file manager. I'd like using this music app because it has the american billboard chart I can just pick the songs rather than typing and thinking of the song or searching.

I use that app and Your right there's no way to change the file location. Once a month I just do a cut and paste to my SD card. Its the only solution I've found.

Samsung didn't do anything... The SD card is faulty because I am having the same problem now. I still need to test it though.
EDIT- Using Cyanogenmod10?? I was using that and today morning i flashed back to stock ROM and apparently sd card is working now.
Try unmounting and re-mount it. might help.
Unmount works Lol thanks mat8

Hi , i bought a 16gb sd card to put my music in it and since that time, google play music have some minors bugs. Somtimes when i put new songs and i go in google play music it show that i dont have any music in my phone. I have to erase app data and forced close the app then re-open it if i want it to work well. What can I do? I am S-ON, speedrom 6.5 with stock kernel

I have a similar problem where any music from the external sdcard is not refreshed. I would then go under settings/Apps and clear data for Google Music followed by a forced stop. And after that when the app is re-started, it reads the music once only from the ext-sdcard. Did you get it fixed?
no i still have this problem :S it is the same as your
From what I remember google music app doesn't play nice with external sd. So what I suggest you try if you really want to use Google's app is not tell your phone that external sd is now the internal sd and internal is now external. There is a thread here that will guide you how to do that. If you do do it please post results as for others can benefit..
I am not going to show you but if you do a simple search you'll find it

I don't know what to tell you, dude. Maybe try going to settings, applications, and clear cache for Double Twist and also for Media Storage.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Just installed doubletwist and put in my 32gb sd, found all the music automagically. Only thing I can think of is your card needs to be formatted. Fat32 I believe, not sure because mine worked however it was already formatted.
It's weird because titanium sees it fine. So does root Explorer. I'll try format and re transfer my media.
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
Ok clearing the cache and data for Doubletwist and media storage worked. Now to test air sync.
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
Ok so doubletwist will see the music on the sd card, but the pc client won't sync to the removable sd card this is either through usb or air sync. It sees the phone, and will sync to the internal storage, but i can't tell it to use the removable storage. I'm thinking it has something to do with not being able to mount the SD card as mass storage, which i read somewhere on here is not happening with the LGOG. Any thoughts?
Hello,
I also have issues with my external sd card and double twist (but also with other media files eg photos).
Yesterday I synced 14,11GB of music to my external sd card. I was able to play all of the music for a few hours, then over 10 GB "disappeared" or are not recognized / categorized as music anymore. All I can see via double twist, es file explorer and the phone memory (under settings) are 3,67 GB of music and 12,72 GB of "other". Via es file explorer I can also only see 3,67 GB in the actual double twist music folder on the sd card. When I send my pictures directly to the sd card they also disappear after a while, which is quite annoying... I am not sure if this is the notorious kitkat issue, but is there a solution to fix this that works? I tried nextapp sdfix and changing platform.xml as suggested in various other posts by adding: <group gid="media_rw" />
Unfortunately, none of these "fixes" worked for me. Is there a solution to this yet, besides buying a windows phone or an iphone...
Thanks for your help!
